Spring-Loaded Mailboxes stopped working in Mail

These suddenly stopped working yesterday. Now, when I drag a message to a mailbox on the left, it no longer springs open to show the nested mailboxes within it.
TIA for any ideas,
Mark

Fixed by a restart.

  • Spring Loaded Folders stopped working!

    Hi,
In my main user on my MacBook Pro Spring Loaded Folders stopped working in the Finder. If I switch to one of my other users on the same MBP it works fine. So my question is, which preference should I delete to restore this functionality?
I already tried com.apple.finder.plist and that had no effect after relaunching the Finder.

    Hi Terry,
Could it be that the preference got turned off? Go to Finder > Preferences > General, and down at the bottom, you should see a toggle switch for spring-loaded folders. If it's already on, try turning it off, relaunching Finder, and turning it on again (and then re-relaunching Finder!).
    Hope that helps!

  • Safari stops working.  Mail won't work with Safari running.  Now iTunes can't find my phone.  If I restart and do one thing at a time it helps but still not reliable.  All software on my iMac is up to date.

I have a new iMac and iPhone 4.0.  All software is up to date and I have installed the free beta version of Mountain Lion which let me use iChat on my computer.  Safari intermittently stops working.  Mail won't access my mailboxes if Safari is running.  Now iTunes won't find my iPhone when it's locked and in a dock charging.  If I restart I can do 1 thing at a time, but I can't have Safari running and use Mail.  I've emptied my cache, checked my passwords.  It's none of that.  By process of elimination, there is some kind of conflict between using multiple applications on the Internet at the same time.  Sometimes after I've gone to several Internet sites Safari will stop working properly even though all other applications have been "quit".

Oops. You installed the beta Mountain Lion on your main hard disk? Usually most people install it on a secondary or external hard drive. Your situation should actually be posted on the Developer web site for Moutnain Lion and not here. All I can suggest here is to run repair permissions and restart. Sorry.

  • Mail: search and smart mailboxes stopped working

    Hi folks,
In mail the search and smart mailboxes have stopped working.  I have a hunch it's something to do with iCloud as my partner is now logged onto iCloud using iTunes etc. Can you help?

My accounts are POP. But I have managed to fix the problem. When you mentioned Spotlight, I went into System Preferences thinking I may had accidentally turn off emails as a search option in Spotlight. It was on, but I turned it OFF and then ON again, and now search works in mail as usual. And my Smart Mailboxes too.
    It's one of those things
    Thanks for your help

  • Spring-loaded folders not working.

Spring-loaded folders (when you place the cursor on a folder, press the mouse button down, and the folder opens) isn't working on two of my Leopard installed machines (a PBG4 and a MBP).
I went into Finder Preferences to make sure it was activated, and it was and changed the setting to open faster, but that did not make a difference. The folders just are not responding.
Has anyone else seen this and have a fix? Or maybe I'm overlooking another setting?

    Spring loaded folders:
Finder > Preferences > General to set the delay
Space bar to open immediately. Used for putting items into folders.
Stacks are folders dragged to the dock by the trash can, set options by ctrl clicking (right click / two fingers on trackpad click) the folder. Options depend on where you keep the dock. Fan isn't an option when the dock is placed on the side of the screen.
    Best.

  • AOL and Gmail stopped working in Mail version 4.5 but Exchange still works?

I did not change anything or do an update but one day my AOL and Gmail accounts just stopped working but my exchange account still works perfectly.  I checked my setting and passwords and everything is set up correctly via IMAP.  HELP please!!!
Error I get is Unable to Connect - There may be a problem with the mail server or network.  Verify the settings for account and try again.  The server returned the error: The connection to the server "imap.aol.com" on port 993 times out. (same error for gmail)
    Thanks!

Do you have the check mark in the SSL box in the Mail Preferences under Accounts tab (look in the middle of the page for advanced).

  • Exchange support stopped working in Mail 4.1

This is bizarre: just a few days ago, my exchange connectivity in Mail (4.1, i.e. OS 10.6.1) stopped working, out of the blue.
I didn't change anything in the settings. Oddly enough, the other Exchange services (i.e. Address Book and iCal) are still working, so I will hazard a guess that our admin hasn't changed anything in the server settings.
Has anyone had this issue? Resolution?
Is there a way to reset an Exchange account in Mail?
    Thank you!

I got growl mail to work again afterwards.
You need to change 1 info.plist file. (use textedit to modify)
    With mail off.
Go to your user login directory and follow this path:-
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/GrowlMail.mailbundle/Contents/
    Info.plist
    open up info.plist
and in the area under <key>SupportedPluginCompatibilityUUIDs</key>
    Then add:
    <string>9049EF7D-5873-4F54-A447-51D722009310</string>
    <string>1C58722D-AFBD-464E-81BB-0E05C108BE06</string>
save the file and now Growl is once again working...

  • 10.9.2 Mavericks App Store/Mailbox stopped working

    Click "Change  Settings" button
The network preferences window for Proxies will will show up with "Proxies"
    tab selected.

  • Two probs: All mail rules stopped working, 'Empty' mail folders

    Hi All,
I have two problems that began simultaneously:
    1) All my rules have stopped working automatically. If I highlight an e-mail and select apply rules, then it will do it, but the rules don't apply as new mail comes to In box.
    2) The number of unread messages next to the folder's name will be shown but the window itself will be blank. If I quit and restart, all the messages (new and old) will be there.
Why is it doing any of this, and how can I fix it?
The only relatively new thing regarding how my e-mail is handled is that I started using Thunderbird. If Tbird is the problem, how do I figure out if it's causing the conflict?
Silly me, I started using Tbird because it has emoticons, but it lacks all the other features I really like about Mail.
    Thank you,
    La Tricia

Hi La Tricia, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    Might try this...
    Quit Mail.
In your Home folder. open Library folder, open Mail folder in that, look for the Envelope Index, and drag it to the Desktop.
Then in your Home folder. open Library folder, open Caches folder in that, look for the Mail, and drag it to the Desktop.Move Envelope Index to the Desktop in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Move this folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail

  • Echange Mailbox Stopped Working - N8 (Belle)

I just had a problem start yesterday at some point.  For no apparent reason, my Exchange Email account stopped working, in all directions (incoming & outgoing mail, calendar and contacts synchronisation).
But it doesn't give me an error message.
I've tried both WiFi and mobile data.  They both work for internet, WhatsApp, etc., so it's not a connection issue.
I recently updated the social client and the search widget through Software Update OTA, but this was a day before the problem started.
I also changed the synchronisation during peak hours to always on just before the problem turned up, but nothing else.
I simply cannot find any reason why this has happened.
Oh, and I do not yet have the new Microsoft software.  I heard from someone that they had a similar problem to me, but it was after installing the new Microsoft Apps on their E7.
Can anyone out there help me?

I really don't like to bump things up, but has really nobody had any such issues, or have any idea what it may be?
BTW, I have completely removed my Exchange account and re-created it, and no change at all.  Everything is as it was, in that nothing works, but there are no error messages.

  • Lightroom 2.7 loads then stops working

Hello, When I try to start LR2.7, the program loads, I can see the filmstrip at the bottom and the menus and then Windows Vista( 32B) intervenes and says the program has stopped working. • Send As from a shared mailbox stopped working

I have created a Shared Mailbox a few months ago and gave one use full access rights and send as permissions. This worked perfectly since it was created. On Friday, the user started getting:
Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you're sending on behalf of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission.
If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.
There have been no changes made to any of the rights or permissions anywhere. The shared mailbox properties still show this user in the full access and send as list. The shared accounts address is available in the GAL so that is not an issue.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I could probably recreate this mailbox, but would rather fix the issue or at least know what happened in case it does it again.
    Nick Laurino

    Hi,
Have you tried removing and then re-adding the permission for the user? Worth a try when such issue occurs.
As the administrator, you may want to verify that the user actually does have "Send-As" permission on the shared mailbox. To do that,
Open the Exchange Management Console on the Server
Navigate to Recipient Configuration > Mailbox and right click the Shared Malibox
    Select "Manage Send As Permission"
Check that the user is listed in the permissions
To solve the issue on the client side, delete the offline address book and allow Outlook to recreate it.
    Close Outlook
Delete the Offline Address Book folder
It can be found under "C:\users\{username}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books"
Open Outlook and it will download a fresh copy of the Offline Address Book
I hope this can be helpful.

  • Letterbox and widemail stopped working with Mail on new QuadCoreI7 MacBookP

I just received my new MacBookPro Quad Core I7 (Wow!) and after finding Rosetta was not installed and fixing that, I now back to Mail disabling either of the current bundles (10.6.5 is what both developers are showing). The computer is running 10.6.6 as is my previous MacBookPro. I've checked the info.plist on both bundles and on mail.app and find that mail's SupportedPluginCompatiblityUUID list includes the same values as found in the bundles (so the old fixes won't work). When mail starts it immediately disables the bundle and complains about them not being current

Although designed to re-enable GrowlMail, I successfully employed this hint for both Letterbox and WideMail:

  • Safari stopped working, Apple Mail stopped working...where'd they go?

I don't know what happened...I tried to open Safari, the icon bounced a few times on the dock, then nothing. Same exact thing happens with Apple Mail. All sorts of weird things have been happening since .mac mail became Mobilme. Don't know if it's related but I've had nothing but frustration since then. Computer is very slow, internet crawls.
I'm now using Firefox but it is really slow, too. In the past few days I haven't been able to close the tabs--I've tried manually closing them, closing Firefox, quitting Firefox, even shutting down the computer, waiting overnight and restarting. The Firefox window opens and all of the tabs are still open!
I used to feel like everything always worked on Macs, but in the past year or so--and especially since mobilme--nothing seems to work very well. Mobilme is a disaster!
Any ideas on what happened to my Safari and Apple Mail apps? And how to get rid of the tabs on Firefox?
    Thanks!

Hi there, Barry & Gretchen --
Barry, I think Gretchen has only one problem --
her internet connection. That affects everything else that doesn't work well.
I would tend to concentrate on finding that culprit before doing and A&I,
but that's just my two cents.
    Gretchen,
    1. Who is your ISP?
    2. Have you contacted them about the slowdown?
    3. How old are your modem and router? Perhaps they need a firmware update?
    4. Has Gretchen run the "internet diagnostics" on her Mac yet???
    5. Is it affecting both your Macs?
