SpringBoard was killed by watchdog

Im having this issues - i was listening music and suddenly my phone got freezed on black screen, but music was still playing. I plugged off my headphones, and phone rebooted. And it is still booting.....I can see silver apple logo and running circle on it. If i connect to PC/Mac - iTunes detects the phone and syncs it correctly, but after some time phone reboots again and everything continues. I`ve tried to restore it through Recovery and DFU mode, restore finishes normally , but no success. It has never been jailbroken/unlocked. Please , help me!

  • My phone was killed by your update. AGAIN! It is now inoperable and stuck on recovery mode. WTH?

My phone was killed by your update.  AGAIN!  Last time I had to deal with discourteous, uneducated, unhelpful, and downright rude customer service reps (who, by the way, seemed to ignore the fact that I had set up an appointment).  Once the issue was finally acknowledged, I had to erase all content in my phone.  I could have done that on my own.  This time, the update has made my phone completely inoperable, so I can't even call or be called by Apple support?!  This is absolutely unacceptable.  I can't just have my only phone cease to work every time you feel like killing it.
It's stuck in the "connect to iTunes" screen with an image of a USB cable pointing at an iTunes logo.
    Error message no. 14
I have tried all possible recommended solutions from all help sites.  I have removed all usb connections, except the iPhone.  I have updated iTunes and Windows 7 completely, and restarted my computer.  I have tried restoring it from another computer, which seemed to work, except for when I plugged it into my computer and asked it to load all of my software/media, it died again.

Yeah, I was a little upset when I wrote that, and I had copied and pasted it into this discussion board without really looking at who it was directed to.  It's upsetting.  And I absolutely refuse to go to the Apple store for help.  They are incredibly rude.  Besides I can't make an appontment without my phone. . .

I offer my condolences, and this: Save Voicemails

  • Safari 5 was killing my network

I recently had some big problems with Safari 5. I only noticed them when I tried to use conferencing sites and applications as well as Skype.
My connection was shocking and the quality was terrible. I really didn't know where to look for the answer. I checked on Apple's support site and found how to reset my plugins and cache etc etc.
This didn't fix my problem. Every time I had a continues pings running to yahoo or the bbc when I opened Safari I got huge delays intermittently and some timeouts.
To resolve the problem I found the issue was with my home page. iGoogle with Latitude...
I changed my home page and then it ran like a champ. So I removed Latitude from iGoogle and Bob's your uncle. Not sure what the problem is but I hope this helps others.
    Dave

    Same issue here.
Try using an alternate web browser. (ie. Google Chrome)
My issue appears to be due to Safari using up most of my available RAM (2GB) on my MacBook Pro. This can be verified by launching your Activity Monitor and checking 'System Memory' and 'Disk Activity' and determine if when your machine is slow, your Disk Reads/sec and Writes/sec are consistently high, and/or under Memory, if the 'Used' memory is close to your installed RAM size, then your machine is having to utilize swap space on your hard disk. This process of transferring ram contents to disk is majorly slow, and will KILL your machine performance.
My particular issue appears to be much better when using Chrome vs Safari. With 4 tabs open in Safari and some flash content, the browser was utilizing 1.2GB of my RAM, which is ridiculous.

  • Early 2008 MacBook Pro hard drive was killed; how to sync stuff

My early 2008 MacBook Pro hard drive was reimaged (not by me) and they lost everything on there, and have now put in a new hard drive, saying nothing was salvageable on the original HD. I have an iPhone, iPod, iPad. When i get the MBP back, how will I be able to get those devices synced so that everything I've bought/have goes back onto the HD?
The original HD was being reimaged because my work requires use of Windows, and I was using Windows via Boot Camp. Windows got a terrible rogue virus (from my clicking on a link), which shut everything down on that side. Work tech folks said they needed to reimage the Windows part of the drive, but said in the process, the reimaging took everything, Mac stuff included. That's why I'm in this situation. They are going to put in a new hard drive, but it is a blank slate.
Long story short: last time I backed up was 2 years ago, and it wasn't using Time Machine, but an external hard drive. That was also before I got my current iPhone, the iPad and made some additions to iTunes. (For those who say shame on me, for not doing a backup sooner, you're right: But we have gone through 3 moves in 18 months, so it has been kinda nuts.)
I expect the MBP to get sent back to me in the next day. I have no idea how to put these pieces back together. I'm not even sure about data recovery, but am most concerned about iTunes/iPhone/iPod/iPad.
    Thanks for your help!

Two years ago??? Shame on you!!!
I found this the other day. It's old but still applies. This should be more than enough to help you get back on track. See the comments by Zevoneer

You will have to check on each of these. Some of the links are outdated but there is more than enough to get you started. See this article about transferring purchases. The link is in the other thread as well.

  • MY SHUFFLE  WAS KILLED!

hey. I got a shuffle in december '05, and about a month later it stopped responding when any buttons were pressed. It would not show up on my Mac either. Apple replaced it, but now my new shuffle has been killed too. What gives? Open to any suggestions.Thanx so much 4 any help.

What are you doing to make it work with OS 9? Perhaps the answer lies somewhere in that.

  • Response to thread that was kill

This thread is obviously just flame-bait at this point. Telling us our drivers suck for the 0000th time on this forum isn't going to accomplish anything.

    So...what will acomplish something?

Well they didn't just lock the thread, they just removed my (pissedoff) user account. Talk about keeping you customers happy.
Creative you have it coming to you. People aren't going to hold out much longer, I know I certainly ain't. Whats so bad about saying the driver is due mid-May or something?! I mean really, it seems the moderators here, do nothing to pass information on to someone who can actually do something.
Are Creative management even aware that there are so many angry customers? I'm sure if they did, they would certainly want to do something about it, if they have any sense.
P.S. Don't ban this account, I have got thousands of more where they came from!
Wow: moderators are removing my posts! How lame.

  • Time machine kills Wifi network!!

I had recently posted a thread on TC forum "Weird shut down of TC" that my TC just shuts down routinely.
I have a 1TB TC that has been working very well. I bought the new unibody MBP and the Time machine has been backing up quite nicely for past one month.
I now have a problem that the TM aborts with a message the the drive could not be accessed due to network problems.
My Wifi would be down, status light amber, after a while the status light would go off completely but the disk in TC would be spinning as can feel the spin vibrations. This would happen about every 45 minutes and only way to go back up was to unplug and plug.
I now find that the culprit is time machine. This is what I tried sequentially:
    A. Rolled back to 7.3.1 firmware. Same problem.
    B. Switched off the TM from prefrences. It worked well for a day.
    C. Switched on the TM. As soon as TM backup started, I had the TC wifi freeze.
    D. updated to firmware 7.3.2 with TM turned on. Same problem
    E. Turned off the airport card, plugged in ethernet cable so now was not using the wifi but wired connection to the TC. Started the TM and again. SAME PROBLEM.
    F. Turned off TM, all was well for the entire day.
    G. Turned it back on and on the first back up attempt, the WiFi was killed again.
I think now the problem may be with the size of the back up that TM is attempting. It does the 'prepare for back up' pretty quickly but once the back up starts, it kills the WiFi and aborts with a message that there is no network.
Anyone have any idea if I should troubleshoot differently or diagnose this differently?
Has anyone had a problem with TM with large back ups?

    Hi Alexandre,
Thanks for the input. Sorry my profile was not updated. I am using MBPro 10.5.5.
Here is the output from console which I think is the portion till the network went down. Could not find a way to attach the file.
Thanks for any help you can give:

  • I can't open a pages document on my air that was saved from my desktop through my idisk - please help!!

Pages is installed on my lap stop, desk top but I guess not on my Air - how can I read that document until I am able to load pages into the AIR - I really need to see and change this document?  Thanks.

It's a well known behavior which Jerrold and me described here some weeks ago.
I reported the bug to Apple but it seems that the engineers working upon the AppStore don't know the specs of the different kinds of iWork applications.
    They are three kinds :
    (1) applications resulting of the trial version + a bought registration code
    (2) applications resulting of the instal thru a bought DVD
    (3) applications bought thru the AppStore.
The appStore application is able to recognize the case 3.
Given what you wrote, it seems that it recognize case 2.
Given what Jerrold and me reported here, it doesn't recognize case 1.
In the first version, the app was fool enough to treat iWork '08 as bought 09 ones for a task
but make the difference for an other task.
This foolish thing (I'm listening Lester Young) was killed by the late update.
Of course, Jerrold's and my own versions are legal and up to date.

  • ITunes install kills Outlook

During the install of the 7.6.2.9 update on a Vista machine, Microsoft Outlook (and the email I was composing) was killed! There was no warning or confirmation. This is VERY unsocial behavior. Is Apple consciously trying to become like Microsoft? Or, like Microsoft, are you just getting to the point where there are too many smart people working without adult supervision?

You can give feedback directly to Apple on the matter, if you so please, via the product feedback forms. (You've posted in a user-to-user troubleshooting forum, and there's no guarantee that someone from Apple will see your concerns here.)
Here's a link through to the iTunes product feedback form:

From OS error message , Looks like there was resource crunch at the time of crash.
What was the CPU/Memory/Swap utilization at time of crash.
Also check out for kernel parameters.
Please follow below MOS note and also raise SR with support. :

  • Fixed Ipod killed by 1-10 update

My ipod was killed by the 1-10-2006 updater. Symptoms were:
    1) Exclamation point folder icon
    2) Connecting it to the PC would freeze the PC
    3) Ipod Updater/Itunes would not recognize the ipod
    4) Hard disk would whirr and click and would have the 'do not disconnect' sign that never went out.
    Here's what I did:
    1) Got a linux box, fdisked the various partitions, and copied the binary of the 11-17-2005 update over.
    2) Eventually, after rebooting it a bunch of times into disk mode, was able to get ipod update to update the ipod.
    3) It STILL wasn't recognized, so I
    a) opened the case
    b) removed bits of loose plastic from around various connectors
    c) tightened the hard disk connection
    d) (important) unplugged the battery and plugged it back together.
When I plugged it back into the PC, Itunes found it and everything worked fine.

I updated my iPod last night, and today I discovered the same problem all of you are describing. But, after fiddling with it a bit I think I've figured out more details, though none of it helps me fix it. When I play any video that I've downloaded from iTunes, no matter the play length or file size, it plays perfectly fine. But, when I play a video that I've converted outside of iTunes, and if the video is about twenty minutes or longer, it pauses after 30 seconds of playing and then goes silent while the video resumes. I can play short non-iTunes videos okay, but as soon as I play a longer one, kaput. I first noticed it when I was trying to watch an episode of Smallville, and then I tried watching a twenty minute video from IGN. But, when I went to something short, it played with no problems.
Anyone else fine tune the problem? Any other fix besides blasting it and going back to a previous update?

Hello, Due to mannually triggered stackshot via springboard my be my phone springboard crashed, that`s why
my phone network dose not responding now what can I do ??

Since springboard was mentioned, that leads me to believe the device is jailbroken.
If that is the case, the OP is on their own as discussion of jailbroken devices is not permitted here.

  • How to kill back ground processes?

I had installed Amonitor app and it shows there are these 3 processes, poc-bbot, bash, cp running. It was never there. can anyone tell me how to kill it?

    Hi, thanks.
Actually these 3 processes has never shows up. And yes, i was kill all the apps once i dont use them. my recently open bar is always empty.
The reason why i has concern is my bat life is shorter when these 3 processes are running. It used to has this, so i restore to factory mode. then after awhile, these came back.
