Sprint iPhone 4 Email Issues

Hello,
Today, my dad just got his Sprint iPhone 4. He has two email addresses, one at Bellsouth and the other at Gmail.
GMAIL:
His Gmail won't work at all with the iPhone, nor Apple Mail. We can successfully log in on Gmail website, but when it comes to the iPhone and the computer, it rejects the information. It is an IMAP address, and POP is disabled.
BELLSOUTH:
After finding the configuration information online, we were able to set up his Bellsouth to receive email, but it cannot send email. When sending an email, it says: "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address "[email protected]" was rejected by the server."
He needs these emails to work right away, so any troubleshooting information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

A Gmail account can be accessed as a POP, IMAP, or Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail app, and as a POP or IMAP account with an email client on your computer.
How was the Gmail account created on the iPhone? The iPhone's Mail app includes a Gmail account preset that when used creates the account as an IMAP account.
What settings are being used when creating the account with the Mail app on the Mac?
Google has an authenticated SMTP server with an Gmail account. I don't believe BellSouth has the same. If not, he won't be able to send messages with the BellSouth account unless connected to the internet via an available wi-fi network with BellSouth as the internet service provider. Most, if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated.

Sprint Iphone Network issues, Please help!

I have an iPhone with sprint, and it has worked more than amazingly prior to this. It wasn't until last night around 12am that this started. I have had the phone for 4 to 5 months now. The bars in the top left are flat and occasionally one will pop up. I can t make calls and texts are slow to or just don't send at all. I was messing around on my download app in the browser and it closed and then thu problem arises. I have deleted the app even turned on and off my phone several times and turned airplane mode on and off several times. Please help:/ this is not an issue with location, and everytime I make calls it just says "calling mobile..." and everyone else in my house has 3g+ service... please help!:/
I am trying to restore and older version just because im out of options. I am getting really worried about this.

You cannot restore to an older version of ios.

Is this email stuck on your phone, but no outbox appears to delete it? If so, try this:
Turn on airplane mode. Send a new email. Now you should be able to see an outbox. Then delete both of the emails from the outbox and turn airplane mode off.

How can I set up Facetime on a deactivated Sprint iphone 4?

I bought a Sprint iphone 4 from someone who had deactivated due to he couldnt afford the extra data package; therefore the ESN is bad and not free and clear. I have a 12yr old son with Down Syndrome who had played with his sisters ipod touch and I thought we might be able to get him to like this one instead. When I showed him the Angry Birds game, to our astonishment, he took to it immediately. It is the first time he's ever played, and completed any game, ever. Needles to say what I bought for parts(I have a cell phone repair business) has now become his phone. Usually in these cases I do a complete reset, but instead, I have deleted all the prior owners personal information and reset up the wifi and my email info.
The problem I'm having is getting Facetime to work on this used iphone 4. Another daughter is away at college, has an iphone 4 with AT&T, and we would love for our son to be able to talk to the sister he misses so much. I have set up an account in Apple, followed all the instructions, and it never gets past the "Verifying"message then "Activation unsuccessful. Turn on Facetime to try again." We are utilizing Wifi and have a good strong connection, because I can surf the net and get into my AOL account.
I would really love to be able to set this up; can this be done? I am "Old School" and would need a step by step instruction. Thanx!!!

If it is true about the SMS, then it can't be done. The phone would have to be activated and, as I stated in my OP, the ESN is not free and clear. Therefore It can't send the SMS, ever. I didn't get "Hosed", as I said in the OP, I originally bought the phone for parts. It was only used 3 weeks, looked brand new, is white, and only had 3 hours on the Talktimer. It was only when I discovered my son connected with the Angry Birds game did I consider giving it to him. I have software to identify most SPC's(Service Provider Code) on Sprint, Verizon, and most CDMA phones. I utilize this to update Software, reflash, or Change PRL's, on CDMA phones. But even finding out this and reprograming it with another number won't work if an actual SMS has to be sent thru the Sprint System; besides, I'm pretty sure this software(CDMA WS Pro) won't work with iphones. So I guess the "Genius" guy wouldnt be able to help me out anyway. Too bad there isnt away around having to use Sprint to activate an Apple app. If anyone else has a solution, please let me know. IPhone 5 issue

Suddenly, today, my iPhone 5 began giving me a problem. Out of the blue, I hear the person I called but they can't hear me. Tried cleaning out the headphone jack. Did a reset. iTunes works in that I can hear music from the speaker. I can hear the person I called with headphones plugged in. But nothing from the speaker. Is this a hardware problem? Or a Verizon issue?

Sorry, but you wasted your money. A Sprint iPhone 5 must be first activated on the Sprint network, in the US. Once you do that, you can then request that Sprint unlock the sim slot. But, until that is done, Sprint will not authorize unlocking of the sim slot. No one here can help you, nor can/will Apple.
Sell the phone to someone that can use it in the US.

Can I use my sprint iPhone 4S with another carrier if it's unlocked. Sprint will only unlock it if it's international. they will not unlock it if I want to use the iphone4s with another USA carrier. Why? I have paid for the phone and don't have a contract. I wanted to switch the SIM card and use tmobile or another provider because I am very dissatisfied with sprint service. Lots of drop calls and texting takes 15 to reach the other person. It is horrible,,,, I hate sprint!,

Sorry, what others here have said is wrong, wrong, wrong. There is nothing about the hardware of the iPhone 4S that would prevent a Sprint 4S from being used on T-Mobile, or any GSM carrier, international or domestic. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Each and every 4S is 100% hardware capable of doing both GSM and CDMA out of the box. The only impediment is that Sprint would have to authorize an unlock for you. This is something they simply refuse to do. If anyone at Sprint has told you that they can't unlock a 4S for domestic use with another carrier, they have lied to your face. This, by the way, is something they're doing with everyone who asks the question - just Google search "Sprint unlock iPhone 4S", and you'll see dozens of internet threads where people talk about being lied to by Sprint about this issue. The good news is that Sprint signed an agreement with the FCC regarding letting off-contract customers unlock their phones. The agreement takes effect in mid-March, and Sprint is dragging its feet until then. Once that deadline passes, if Sprint still hasn't agreed to unlock your phone, then they're in violation of the agreement, and you can and should report them to the FCC. I sure plan to. Then I'm going to switch carriers, to one that doesn't lie to me and keep fraudulent liens on my property.

Email issues after Yosemite upgrade. Several things are happening, I delete messages only to get a error indicating that I can't delete them or if I do delete them, they reappear sometime later.

I use Apple mail on an IMAC & IMAC Mini. As I move from one to the other these email issues persist on both.
I try to clean out my email by deleting emails. I sometimes get an error message indicating I can't delete the message or when I do delete the message, then sometime later or when I go on the other computer these deleted messages reappear. I am also getting emails from some senders but the actual content belongs to another person.
I had none of these problems prior to upgrading to Yosemite.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Buying Sprint iphone 4S Thru Sprint Telesales

Has anyone been placed on the waiting list for a 16G Sprint iphone 4s throught Sprint's Telesales? If so, did you get your phone yet and how long did it take?

Sprint iphone 4s- can't activate? fluke/bad batch? Any fix

Bought my 4s on apple.com. doesn't activate via itunes. and the IMEI number is not recognized by Sprint. Spent 4 hours back and forth with Sprint and Apple today, also went into the store. nothing. so frustrating. 1st time Iphone owner. about to chuck it and get the 4. Read online somewhere that there is a bad batch of 4S's with Sprint that have IMEI's that start with 99000. Ugh.
Any advice appreciated, except to tell me to hard reset, etc.. have tried the obvious in the 4 hours spent with sprint and apple.

follow up. just got mine resolved. I kept at it... they had to send the issue to the engineers bc of the issues i listed above. All is working well now. Never had to return phone or send to Apple. friend works at Apple and said the new software for sprint is causing issues but will be resolved. Keep pushing with Technical peeps.

SPRINT iPhone 4s - No Data, poor reception.

Whether I'm in San Diego, New York City/Long Island, or Nashville... 95% of the day, my phone will go through this.... It will display "extended" and the tiny circle next to it.
I was finally told by someone that the Sprint iPhones have two Major issues. One of which is that the phone gets "stuck" onto a tower, and will not release itself from it to go to the next, closer tower. Some may call this a "syncing" issue. What this means is that you don't get service because your phone is searching very hard to connect to the now phantom tower it once was connected to. The other major issue that might be related is that even though Sprint is a CDMA based cell service, their 4S iPhones have a sim card deck, and a sim card in it. Phone gets confused because it's trying to run both CDMA and sim, and it shuld only be trying to connect with service via CDMA receiver.
ISSUES (i've had):
•"No Service"
•"Extended Service"
•Little Circle displayed where the 3G should be.
•Dropped calls
•Lagging Texts (sms and iMessage)
•Non sent Texts (sms and iMessage)
•Over heating phone - burning my hands and face
the list goes on.....
"SOLUTIONS" (that none of them fixed the issues):
•Over the phone updates
•Over the phone network updates
•Hard reset
•network resets over the air and on the phone.
•deleting all my cloud
•deleting all iphone backups
• a new phone
............only to find the issues STILL remain
THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE BETWEEN SPRINT AND APPLE and both companies give me the run around.
Sprint won't admit to the issue because they would have to recall and replace everyone's phones (millions).

There is no agreed standard for how many bars are displayed in response to signal strengths, and therefore comparing strength indication between different manufacturers' phones is not particularly meaningful. If it works, it works.
The warranty is anly applicable in the country in which the phone was purchased. You can buy them in India, and enjoy full warranty support.

Deleting iphone email does not delete from computer

I am sure I must be missing something simple here....When I delete email from my iphone, it does not delete from my computer (either remotely or by syncing). So when I delete a bunch of emails, the very next time I open iphone email, it retrieves the very same emails just deleted....a viscious cycle. Can anyone assist with what must be a simple setting issue? Thank you.

When .Mac is configured using the .Mac option on the
iPhone it is always configured as IMAP. For that
account, on your computer are you checking the
messages via POP3, and on your computer, which
program are you using to check those messages?
.MAC Account - Home Computer: Under Mail/Preferences/Accounts it lists the Comcast account (from our ISP) as a POP and the .Mac account as ".Mac". I access mail thru Mac Mail Application and sometimes thru .mac thru the internet. Update on this account- I cleared the inbox and tried another test. Now it seems to be working. I delete a message from iphone and it will automatically delete from my home computer Mail App. and eventually it will be deleted from the .mac server when accessed thru the internet (these take much longer however). In any event it seem this account works now.
Work Account:
As for your work account, when looking at the
settings, it should say POP3, IMAP and Exchange at
the top. The button that is "pushed" is the one that
account is using. The outgoing server should
probably be smtp.comcast.net not smpt. Is that
account using IMAP, POP3, or Exchange?
I know these three options were there when the IT person set it up but now when I access this account in my iphone it does not tell me what was selected (IMAP,POP, or Exchange) under account information??? It seems to appear only when setting up a new account. Am I missing something?
Also that was a typo. Outgoing server is listed as "smtp.comcast.net"
So to give you as much info as I have:
Incoming Mail Server is "Mail.(officeservername).com" and Outgoing is "smtp.comcast.net". (Using my Comcast ISP was the only way the IT person could get the email access from Iphone to work). And to calrify what is happening on the iphone:
1.Email is accessed no problem from iphone, - downloading all new message from my work outlook works fine.
2.When I delete messages on my iphone, however, it does not delete on my office computer which is on a server network. (Visa Versa does work - when I delete a message on my computer it will delete it on my iphone.
3.NOTE : Contrary to what I posted earlier my iphone now is NOT "RELOADING" messages just deleted from Iphone but which remain on my office computer. This means half the problem is solved.
4. THE ONLY THING LEFT TO FIGURE OUT IS HOW DO I CONFIGURE SO WHEN I DELETE A MESSAGE ON MY IPHONE I AM DELETING ALSO FROM MY Computer at work?
(BTW in the above description I am referring to all wireless operation...not when syncing with iphone)

Emptying trash in Sprint Mobile Email?

I've got a Palm Centro via Sprint. Currently, I have 1.9M free on the 68.8M hard drive--and I don't have much loaded.
I noticed that several apps appear twice in the "Info" list--and Sprint Mobile Email is one. One of the apps is 11K, the other is 2,867K.
IM is another app that's showing 909K used--and there is NOTHING saved there.
Part of the issue here is that if I get a text message (currently, NOTHING saved there), I get an error message about there not being enough memory.
* Is there a way to reduce some of this?
* Is there a list of programs that MUST stay on the Centro to work properly (as well as their normal sizes)?
* How do I empty the trash in Sprint Mobile Email? I can delete all of the emails, but they remain in trash and I can't find a "Empty Trash" feature there as exists in Versamail.

Do you use Sprint Mobile Email "Work"? I never noticed that before about the deleted items folder -- strange. I guess the folder emptied when I sync'd email?? (I'm now using an 800w, so I can't test that program on my old 650 any more.)

HT4623 Sprint network data issues!!!

Is it me, or does the sprint coverage outside of wifi suck!?! I recently upgraded to the iphone 5 from a htc evo 4g. The evo got fine 3g coverage almost anywhere, but the ihpone 5 just seems to struggle everywhere. Ive read alot about this on other sites, but havent really gotten a straight answer. Everytime I leave my house, I get the "o" most of the time for coverage. Is there anything I can do to solve this issue? Or do I just have to wait until Sprint fixes this issue? Thanks!

So, I just got back from the sprint store ( I had an appt). I walked in and they looked at me like oh boy another one with the same issue. I basically got no help at all, I was told to try the hard reset because they said it helped for some people. They blamed it on apple and said sprint was waiting for an os update to resolve the data problem issue. I was in there for like 2 minutes. ***

Sprint iPhone 4s will not download apps.

For two weeks I have not been able to download apps <20mb on my Sprint iPhone 4s. I'm not the only one, as several people in the store at the time were having the same issue. They didn't know what to tell me because "Apple and Sprint know about the issue, but neither one wants to take the blame."
My Sprint Android devices download apps just fine.
However, my iPhone 4s downloads apps on WiFi just fine.
Wat do Big Fruit? Help me out here please. Downloading apps is a rudimentary feature of the smartphone at this stage in the game.

Restart

Restore from iTunes
Restore Manually
Faux iTunes account to counter check my primary account and see if it's my primary account specifically
Signing in and out of iTunes
Checking my Updates
Checking my Queue
Deleting and redownloading all of my apps in iTunes
Deleting the commonly corrupted download.28.sqlitedb file
Deleting and re-entering all of my Account info (including billing, in iTunes)
Checked the ownership of the launch daemons to ensure they are mobile and not root
Restored older firmware, updated via iTunes
Restored on a Mac, Restored on Windows 7, Restored on Windows 8 - on 3 different machines
more I can't remember...
Also, this problem is well documented by now. Go into the App Store, install an app, it appears on the Springboard, displays as "waiting' after a minute (metaphorically speaking) it says "Loading" but the progress bar is already half way full. At this point, it goes back to "Waiting...". This cycle propagates itself a few times and then the message "Application cannot be downloaded at this time [Done] - [Retry]." If I choose retry, the cycle continues, vicsious and relenting. If I click done, the "half downloaded app" just sits there on the Springboard "half downloaded."
Of note too is that I stopped in at a Sprint store today where the techs with iPhones were also having the problem and said they are hearing about it more and more. They also said that both Apple and Sprint are aware of the problem but neither company want's to take responsibility because of the fact that all of Sprints other phones, such as Android handsets are able to download apps. Apple doesn't want to take the blame because it's only Sprint's network that is having the issue.
So, who is the whipping boy in this situation?
