Sprint iPhone 5 can't send MMS to non-iPhone users.

I got an iPhone 5 and ever since I received it, I haven't been able to send pictures to anyone that doesn't have iMessage. I have restored it twice and reset the network settings and erased all the content and I even called Sprint, but they couldn't help me. Is this happening to anyone else? Any solutions out there?

Whilst iMessage and SMS use the same iOS interface they send differently and to identify which protocol is in use the messages are colour (color) coded.
iMessages sent between iOS and OSX devices are blue and are sent via the Internet.
Standard SMS messages are green and sent via traditional mobile networks.
What i expect all you Sprint users are sending/receiving are iMessages and NOT SMS.
You may need to check that Cellular Data is switched ON under
Setting/General/Cellular
and the Send as SMS is ON under settings/Messages.
Also toggle iMessage off to see if that forces messaging over SMS.
Caveat there are some problems associated with SMS/MMS which are carrier/sim card related.
Some sIm cards provided by network carriers hide an important set of settings in iOS and this prevents you from manually altering certain settings necessary for sending SMS/MMS.
I don't know if Sprint are among those.

I have MacBook, and iPhone 4 as well

Your're wrong on the overly sensitive part. I couldn't care less about android or some other stuff that you are comparing, what i do care about... enough to take the time to explain, is that your view on things colors the choices you make.
You clearly state your decision making process and the marketing is doing their work on you.
You think in terms of comparisons and competitors and that will always get you. The truth is, I'm glad Apple finally focused on how "something makes you feel" with iOS 7. There is so much truth in that one sentence!
There is so much noise out there about screen size, n core processors and price comparisons you can never get a good feel of what the product really is. By the time you figure out you were taken on a marketing hike, a new model comes out and the story starts all over again. (think of the nokia 40 megapixel camera, or the quad core samsung, those are exagerations to impress the consumer) Imagine the size of the jpg's on that phone, all those megapixels with the quality of a phone camera, ridiculous. Soon we will have 12-core phones with 7 inch screens, and people being led into thinking you can do everything on it, "one thing to rule them all", buy now! I saw a woman on the metro the other day with a 6' phone, I swear the thing was almost half the size of her head.
It's almost 2014 and you are complaining you can't send sms(which is a 25 year old technology by the way) with this new device. All your friends are using outdated tech and because you want to talk to them you want outdated tech too. Sms is insecure, easily snooped upon and recorded, the carrier charges for it and charges more for international sms, and so on... and on... internet chat has been free since the 1990s and it's about time it got free on our phones too.
Just forget about it. Enjoy other people taking the decisions, you can't take yourself, for you. Trust them, see if it fits, care about life, act emotionally when you "feel" like it. You deserve that, you are human, take the feeling home with you, share it with others.
Who cares if it's the 2014 edition or quad core... I gave my old iPad 3 to my grandmother so I could call her on Facetime. I bought the iPad Air on a whim, I just "felt" I wanted it. After a couple of weeks she thought about asking me if she could call my brother in the UK too, and how much it would cost. I said it was free, and she looked at me in disbelief. She is now calling my brother weekly by herself... she is 78. Can you imagine that... all I did is give her my "old" iPad.
Buying the iPad Air was the single best decision of my life, not because of the size or the weight or even iOS 7 (i do enjoy them by the way) but because it made me give my old iPad to my grandmother.
She doesn't even understand how it works, I figured it would be too much useless stuff to mention... it just does! Here put your finger here and here, then tap the name... wait for him to answer. Unbelievable!!!
PS. I figured the best gift I can make is give my old Apple devices to people who would never in a million years buy one for themselves. You see them in shops, they are our mothers and friends... they look at the huge prices and they would never give that much to themselves, they feel they don't deserve it. They gave me money to buy all the useless cr@p I ever wanted in my youth, the least I could do is gift them my "old tech" to enrich their lives. Going to buy a 5S soon and give my 4S to someone for free, but it's going to be someone I care deeply about, deeply enough to change their lives.

  • Can't send MMS from iPhone 4S

I can't send MMS messages from my Iphone 4S. I can send them over iMessage, however (and apparently I can receive them from anyone).
MMS messaging is turned on, and I already took it to the AT&T store. They said there should be no problem from their end (with my account etc)
I also tried restoring the phone, that didn't work.
I don't want to have to schedule an appointment to take it to the apple store, so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions before I do that.
    Thanks very much!

how about a reset?  Hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it.  So I spoke to the so-called "support" people at Apple who successfully screwed up my contacts beyond repair.  I got a nice email from Apple asking me to rate the support I got.  I was actually civil and described the issue tactfully.  What do I get in return?  Nothing.  Not a damned thing!!  You're luck you've got me by the short hairs on a 2 year contract but I'm still tempted to throw this POS through the front window of the nearest Apple store!!  Not only will I be replacing this phone with a competitive product but I won't be buying anymore Apple crap.  I guess when you con 27 million people into believing your rhetoric and sales lies, you don't have to care whether some customers get screwed or not.  I'll be going back to Verizon and threatening legal action if they don't take this electronic dung heap back but I'm sure the teams of lawyers Apple and Verizon have on staff have insured that I have no rights in this matter and you're free to screw me anytime you please.  Sad. I used to love Apple as a company and your products.  Now you're just another Microsoft with more trendy looking junk.  I've had it with you.  If any of your executives are brave enough to talk to me, please contact me at your convenience.

  • Can't send MMS on my iPhone 5s

Can't send MMS on my iPhone 5s

Can you send/receive SMS's? Is MMS turned on in settings? If MMS is tirned on, & you can send/receive SMS's, 99% of the time the problem rests with your carrier. Either MMS is not turned on, on their end, or not properly provisioned on your account.

  • Can't send mms after updating

What is going on? I updated my Spring 4s to iOS6 and now I can't send MMS's to people NOT via iMessage.

For what it's worth, I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 4S. I can only send MMS to other iPhone users. Attempting to send it to non-iPhone users results in a failure and retry, over and over. There is another thread on here where we're talking about it:

  • Can not send mms after iMessage upgrade

I can not  send mms with video except
    To imessage

Yep, I am having the same issue after upgrading to 6.1.3....can send iMessages with TEXT but as soon as I try to send a photo via iMessage I get "Not Delivered". I can recieve photos via iMessage without any issues.
I can send photos fine as SMS/MMS, but my carrier changes me for this.
    I have an iPhone 5.

Are you provisioned by your carrier to use MMS?

Last option contact your cell provider as MMS is a carrier feature.

  • So, I can't send MMS messages to non-IOS users.

Actually, I can't send MMS successfully without using iMessage. Since anyone that doesn's have an iPhone doesn't use iMessage, directly what am I supposed to do?? This has only been an issue today but it's a ridiculous issue that Verizon seems to refuse to get a handle on. I am connected to WiFi, and even when I'm not, that changes NOTHING!!! So what do I do to fix this? Better yet, what does VERIZON do to fix this? I don't see how people fork over hundreds of dollars a month for services that don't work and customer service reps that offer no help....

Clearly there's a wireless concern that warrants our immediate attention here NoToleranceForShenanigans! Let's look into this together. May I ask what zip code are you in? Are you able to send texts to the same number without any issues? How much available device memory do you have on your iPhone? As you share the details then we can troubleshoot.
    Thank you…

You can send an iMessage using WiFi. You can not send an SMS or MMS

  • IPad with wifi only cannot send sms or mms to non apple users. Operating system is 8.1.3

I am using an iPad 2 with iOS 8.1.3. I was told that with this operating system, I would be able to send sms or mms to non-iso users. I was able to do so when I originally upgraded to 8.1.3, but am no longer able to send. The person's name comes up in red and there is an exclamation point.

An iPad cannot natively send an SMS. The SMS text protocol sends its data within the voice channel spectrum of a cell phone voice connection. So, only a cell phone can actually send SMS texts, and only over a cellular voice connection.
If you were doing it before, you must have been using an app. There are apps that will allow you to send SMS texts via cellular providers SMS-email gateways, e.g. as an email to [email protected]

Why can't iPad mini send text to non apple users????? I wish I knew this before purchase

iMessage is from Apple to communicate with other Apple devices.
iPad is not a phone and does not have SMS/MMS services from a carrier. There are apps that can do this, search the App Store.
