Sprint Pre v1.4.5 IMAP type never stops trying to sync...

My phone is a Sprint Pre running v1.4.5 (the problem also happened with v1.4.1). The problem is this:
My work uses MailEnable Enterprise as our email server and ever since I got my Pre, August '09, I have had an IMAP connection setup on my phone. The settings that I used all this time were Get 7 Days of emails and get As They Arive. It worked wonders until about a week ago. It still gets my emails but it never seems to stop doing the sync function; meaning the little rotating circle status continues to run and run and run. My battery now doesn't even last 1/2 a day.
You will want to ask if anything has changed on my work's email server. It has not. I am the server administrator for my work. No settings have been changed nor has there been any updates done to either the MailEnable software or the Windows Server 2008 R2 it runs on (I deliberately have Windows Updates turned off).
Here is what I've done to test if it is my phone or the email server...
I have had an email account setup for my wife on my work's system for over a year (though she rarely uses it). I added both my email account and hers to her Pixi (also Sprint) and my Pre (deleting it and re-adding it on mine). Her Pixi stops attempting the sync on both accounts while mine doesn't stop on either. When I first had these problems, I thought it might have something to do with the many patches I had installed on my pre so I did a full erase on my phone and used WebOS Doctor (this was tried with v1.4.1 as 1.4.5 wasn't available at this time). The problem still persisted. I left my Pre homebrew free for days. When 1.4.5 came out, I immediately downloaded it and installed it OTA on my Pre (still homebrew free). It still didn't help.
I did add both my wife's and I's email accounts to my Pre as POP3 just to see if it has something to do with the combination of IMAP and my work's email server. POP3 worked great and I thought I could just use that, leaving it on 30 minutes or 1 hour check intervals. After a few days of that, my battery life was better than when IMAP wouldn't stop syncing but it was no where near as good as when IMAP worked properly. I have since decided I don't really want to use POP3.
I even tried setting up my school email account on my phone to use IMAP instead of Exchange. It too had the same problem on my phone; I tried it on my wife's and it didn't have a problem.
I also tried seeing if it changed if I had WiFi turned on or off. That didn't change anything. I even put my phone on Airplane mode, thinking that would force the email program to stop refreshing; it didn't appear to change anything, my battery life was still draining faster than I've seen before and the status circle thing was still going around and around.
I don't know how or why IMAP on my Pre is broken... If it is a software related thing, I would have thought WebOS Doctor would have restored it back to working order. If it is hardware, I would think all email communication would be having problems. I have a half of mind of taking it to my local Sprint store and have it swapped out.
Anyone out there have any ideas on something I can try? I consider myself a pretty tech savy person so don't worry about going over my head too much.

I recently started to get Account Locked on gmail using IMAP. I solved this (fingers crossed) by deleting the IMAP account, changing the password, clearing the capture online when adding back the gmail account.
This maybe related- one of the reasons Google list for IMAP account lock is over checking of email. I had mine set to "when email arrives" when I upgraded to v1.4.5.

Running 10.7.2 on my MacBook Air, the whirling symbol indicates that the iCloud account never stops looking for new mail. Other accounts do not do this. This does not occur on my MacPro, my I pad or my iphone, either. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

IMAP processes never stopped on my ISP

Hello everyone,
My emails are in IMAP, the accounts are hosted on planethoster.net or hostgator.com on linux, different versions and brands (redhat...).
Apple Mail (=AM) has problems to close IMAP processes, the IMAP processes stay for 10+ minutes active on the server!
We must use IMAP, not pop.
I do not want to use another mail client because Apple Mail is very reliable.
Here are more details for ONE email account, on planethoster.net, using dovecot and centos 6.5 with all updates.
Account Settings in AM:
- Path: IMAP
- Port 993 + SSL
- Authentification by password
- Use IDLE.
and
- Port 465 + SLL + Auth by password.
When you open AM (or re/connect the account) it takes 4 processes!
31697 (imap) /usr/libexec/dovecot/imap /home/userdoe/mail/johnsite.com/support dovecot/imap
These 4 processes will stay ~until you quit AM.
If you quit AM, these 4 processes are still running for at least 15 minutes.
If you kill the new/current ones from the server dashboard, they reappear immediately, normal...
Reopen AM immediately and you will see 4 old + 4 new processes for the same email account!
To close them with AM, you must first use the menu ~"Mailboxes-disconnect" (or similar) before quitting.
In that case, the 4 processes disappear a bit faster from the server.
The problem is that ISP allow a limited number of processes (25 on Hostgator) that has to be shared between
all operations : web, ftp, emails, cpanel...
With my 2 ISP/host supports help, searches on the net, different settings on mac or server, various config tests, reseting, restart, update, delete
whatever... nothing changes. It is like that for at least Mac OS X 10.7.
I already sent several detailed bug reports to Apple several years, 16+ months... ago without any change.
Do the same tests with
- Thunderbird : 1 process, closed immediately on quit.
- M$ Outlook Window$ : 2 processes, closed almost immediately on quit.
If you have a solution or if you can 'shake' the apple team in charge :-) I will send you a huge box of chocolate from Belgium.

In Preferences for Mail (accounts / advanced), did you put on the checkbox for "removing mail from server"?
I have only POP and .Mac accounts so I cannot check which options are available there for IMAP accounts

The download never stops trying to access the download site and there is no way to get help.....that is why it will never be my default browser...is there any help out there?????

i keep getting asked to download an update and when I hit the tab it continualy is "trying to access the site" yet it never happens. Also when I have upgraded and need to move 1 image inside the other to load it, that set of images never vanishes......way too complicated unless s0meone can tell me how to fix it. This is why it has always been just a "backup" browser for me

Thanks for the question. If you uninstalled the application by dragging it to the trash, you will want to empty the trash before attempting to download again:

To uninstall other apps, drag the app to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), then choose Finder > Empty Trash.
Afterwards, go ahead and restart your computer and attempt to download from your purchase history once more.

Yahoo Messenger (Sprint Pre): No account button! only one Y! at a time?

I have a Sprint Pre, and I have a Yahoo IM account set up in my Messaging application. Works great, tho sometimes it does take a long time to sign in or needs me to sign out then try signing back in for it to succeed in signing in.
When I go to Accounts and Preferences, and go to the Add Account menu, I only see two buttons, one for adding a google account and one for adding an AIM account.
I'm just checking: should I see an option to add a Yahoo IM account also? or does the fact that I already have one set up mean that I can't add another one, and the button not being there is a reflection of that?
I'm a little nervous in case I ever had to delete the Yahoo IM account or if I ever have to re-setup the account. If I do, will that button be there again?

Yahoo Messenger isn't natively supported on the Palm Pre/Pixi, and all signs point to it not ever happening. This is a known issue and has befuddled Palm users since the device came out. There is yet to be any work-arounds that I'm aware of.
When you say "messaging application", what app are you using specifically?

Influence of condition type "never" on the rest of the page

I have a question concerning the 'never'-Condition Type of a process.
I thought when setting this attribute, this process doesn't influence my page. But it isn't that way (as described below). Is this a bug, or when does it influence the page?
Here's the whole process of creating the page and the - for me - unexpected behavior:
I created page 1000 with a tabular form with table DEMO_CUSTOMERS, using all available columns and allowed just update as operation.
The Primary key_type is sequence!
For getting a second tabular form on my page I created an additional page (page 12), but here I decided just to select 4 columns (PRODUCT_ID, PRODUCT_NAME, PRODUCT_DESCRIPTION and PRODUCT_AVAIL) from table DEMO_PRODUCT_INFO - the rest as done before.
Now I copied the just created region from page 12 to page 1000 (nothing else). On my original page 1000 I set the ApplyMRU-Process on Condition Type 'never'.
Running this page I get the error:
failed to parse SQL query:
ORA-01785: ORDER BY item must be the number of a SELECT-list expression
If I delete the ApplyMRU-Process (which is set on Condition Type 'never') the two tabular forms are displayed one below the other. I've done so on page 2000 in my test-workspace (after copying page 1000).
If you'd like to have a look, I recreated the whole thing as described above on http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex (WORKSPACE: ub_test USER: test PWD: test) Application 47200.
Besides: I know that there shouldn't be two tabular forms on one page and that I can't expect the automatically generated processes to work, but ...

Sprint Pre after 1.4.1.1 update launcher horizontal icon skew

My Sprint Pre after the 1.4.1.1 is experiencing icons being skewed by half their width sometimes when I bring it up. Check out the attached screen capture to see. Anyone else seeing this?

Don't see this myself. Might be related to one of the patches you have installed (perhaps the launcher pages one, since the hash marks indicate four pages of icons).

HP- Please let Sprint carry the Pre3 and Veer- Don't under estimate the influence of the Sprint/Pre community!

It has become widely believed that HP has said "NO to Sprint" and WebOS. This is a tremendous disappointment to me and many loyal Sprint/Pre holdouts.Many valuable users have already dropped off the WebOS bandwagon due to the Sprint saga.

Indexing of NMH 410 Never Stops

Indexing of NMH 410 Never Stops. Does anyone from Linksys or Cisco have a solution?

I've been reading for 6-7 months..... I've been on the phone with technical support so many times with "level 2" techs and they can't fix it.
My reading does nothing but bring be back to the same spot like a dog chasing his tail. I even went through each file and folder to make sure that the naming conventions are correct as the NMH 410 will not accept anything outside of naming convention for the type of LINUX they are using.
I now remove the CAT5 cable when I'm not using the NMH 410 and my Network as a whole runs better as the constant rescanning of the NMH 410 seem to clog up the Newtwork.
If Linksys fixes the bugs with a new software release I'll be surprised as it's been a long time since we've asked for help. I guess we can wish for the best.

My time machine keeps backing up 87.6 MB of 87.6 MB again and again and again.
I erased my time capsule drive ('0'ing out never did complete - seemed to hang at the very last stage - but a quick erase seemed to work perfectly) as I wanted to start fresh after putting a bigger HD into my Macbook Pro.
I have 'verified' my backup with no errors shown.
I have deleted the 'in progress' file (more than once).
Now the time machine says: 'Backing up 87.6 MB of 87.6 MB' and never stops.
If I delete the 'in progress' file within the sparsebundle it just prepares the files and gets back to this point again.
I usually backup over wifi but have bee trouble shooting over ethernet connection.
I just checked and it changed to 'backing up 130 MB of 130 MB' and now 'backing up 131.9 MB of 131.9 MB'. But it has been working continuously ever since I manually started the backup (again) this morning - without finishing or re-calculating anything.
Cant find any solution in the pondini FAQ.

Despite having little faith in getting a resolution I thought I'd post my latest update (in case anyone else is suffering the same fate).
I guess I will take everything down to an Apple store and see if they can help.
I was having issues getting the Time Machine Buddy widget to load and realized that the 'Dash board' was not working at all so I deleted my dashboard preferences.
Once I got Time Machine Buddy working l looked up and saw that my time machine has given me the error message: " . . . Time Machine must create a new backup for you." !!!
I don't know/doubt that this was related to my backup issues but have now just finished a complete new backup after erasing my entire backup drive (once again).
I have excluded my drop box and google drive folders- just in case.
It seemed to be working OK (hardwired over ethernet).
BUT now Im back where I started.
I did notice that sometimes the number of MB being 'backed up' was continually, but slowly, growing yesterday. It went through numerous 'attempts' Eventually it got to 'cleaning up'. And did for well over an hour……. (I went to bed)
I tried again this evening and it once again made a number of backups.
My time machine says that the oldest backup is 4pm yesterday (even though, yesterday it had an older backup from the night before) and my most recent was yesterday at 11:49pm - and it ran all night!!!!!

I have a Domain name with email forwarding to my Service Provider which worked very well when I had a PC. Now I have iMac and have changed to IMAP from POP3 so I can sync. between iMac and iPad but how?

I do receive emails into my iMac for which I have 3 email accounts but am struggling on how synchronise between iMac and iPad so that both are up to date at all times. I have also set up a iCloud email account thinking this was the way to go but have drawn a blank.

I have set up my email address both within my iMac and my ISP as IMAP accounts and I receive all emails without problem on my iMac. I have also set up an iCloud email address using my iMac.
I have enabled the email within "setting" on my iPad and have used the iCloud account. I have sent emails from the iMac to iPad using the iCloud account address and vice versa. I have also sent emails from the iPad to the iMac using my non-iCloud email address and they have gotten through.
The one thing I would like to have is for the iPad "mail" mailboxes to mimic the iMac "mail" mailboxes and both to be "in sync". I am not really interested in using the iCloud email address for my email but would really like to use my "normal" addresses as these are what most people know me by.
Do I need to set additional accounts within the iPad which are the same as the email accounts I have within the iMac and my ISP? I have reached the end of my knowledge as regards email synchronsing.

Yahoo Mail not being downloaded, never stops "Checking for Mail"

Since the first time I synced since the new itunes version and the 1.0.1 update, I have not received any mail populating into my Yahoo account. I tried the restart, shutting off the other email accounts, etc.
I does not push, and when I try the Refresh, it never stops "Checking for Mail".
My gmail works fine.
Anyone have any ideas to correct?

Same here but a little stranger. Two items:
(1) If I go into my Yahoo Drafts, or Sent, or Trash, check mail works fast and I get the "Updated 8/26/07 time" message fine and it's accurate.
If I switch to Yahoo In, the initial footer says "Updated 8/14/07 xxx" and has said that for a week or so. It quickly changes to "Checking for Mail" and then never stops.
Anyone else see the "Checking for Mail" only on the IN box but not the others.
(2) I have been sending test emails to Yahoo (basic account). #1 happens as above (ie no mail seems to arrive). But if I scroll to the bottom of the IN box and click "Load 25 more messages", it does seem to pick up the new messages. "Checking for Mail" is still going strong. This seems to work most of the time.
Anyway. Not sure it this may help anyone figure this out.

TS2756 hotspot is not working on myiPad 3, hotspot tap is cellural data always appear that it is searching, and never stop. Vodafone and tradeline told me that there is no problem with carrier and Sw. Tethering data is never kept.

I have this _same_ issue, exactly. Initial backup goes just fine, but incremental backups fail. And like you, I replaced the internal drive.
The failures didn't start occuring long after the original drive was replaced--which was about 1 year ago. The new drive was non-Apple and worked fine--and tests fine now as well when outside the TC. But suddenly incremental backups started failing when the TC firmware and utility app were updated about 2-3 months ago. I even swapped the internal non-Apple drive for another known-working non-Apple drive, and same results.
I strongly suspect Apple added something to the firmware to check if it's an Apple or non-Apple drive in the TC and, if the latter, maybe causes incremental backups to fail. This is only speculation and, obviously, the initial backup still works, so any checksum like this would have to be only during the incremental backup process.
I'll be checking into this thred to see if others have the same issue, or if a solution is found. Hopefully my hypothesis is just para-apple-noia and it's some small, easy-to-fix issue.
