Sprint Treo 650 connection with Apple Powerbook G4 867 MHz runing 10.4.6 ??

I am trying to use my Sprint Treo 650 as a modem with the Apple Powerbook laptop running the latest version of Tiger.
The old Treo 600 worked just fine using the laptop with 10.3.7.
But the old 600 died and I was forced to purchase a 650.
The Treo 650 manual says its possible to use the Treo 650 as a modem. The Apple manual says its possible to use a mobile phone as a modem.
I have actually gotten to the point where, after inserting "passords" like 654379 on my Treo after they were issued by the Apple. I've been told:
"Congratulations, you are connected"
They lie to me.
I've read about "hacks" for the TREO and the need to install special scripts. The instructions go for 26 written pages.
Is there not an easier way? These are the kind of things that make me not even want to visit the Apple Store ever again.
And I love my Apples!
Thanks for letting me vent.
Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Don't know if it makes a difference (I don't think it does), but I have no problem connecting Treo 650 (Sprint Vision service) to my MBP 10.4.6 as a wireless modem. Make sure that you have the latest firmware on Treo 650 that enables DUN (Dial Up Network) on BT pref.
I just simply used the OSX BT setup, making sure that my 650 is discoverable and with a code (paired) for security. It is also using 650 serial port as RS232 port.
Connecting to 650 is done through Network connection on system Pref or via Airport menu. Under BT, configure as Other, the number to dail is #777 with account name and password to your Sprint Vision account (not your Sprint main account login or pw). It should be something like [email protected] for account name and corresponding password for that.
I think this is all you need to do. Did not use any hacks (in fact I completely stay away from Hacks - I have simple needs and want to keep things simple).
You'll have to probably try few times to get it all right and connect but it should not be too bad.
Hope this helps
Good luck....

It is stated that mirroring requires recent hardware (2011 or later)

However you can still use 3rd party solutions like Airparrot which do it via software

I'm on a windows laptop using iTunes sharing through the family to connect with Apple TV.
After choosing the folder of photos to be shared and displayed on the appletv and when I choose to show on screen, they are not shown in the order they are in the original folder.
How to pair show in a certain order, for example, sorted by name.

Not that I'm aware of. You just export JPEG copies to a folder that you can point iTunes to. For instance, I have created a folder in my Pictures folder called Apple TV. And within that folder I have other folders of pictures that I can choose from in iTunes to share with Apple TV. But there doesn't seem to be any way to share a Lightroom slideshow. If you have laid to create a video file that would probably work. Apple TV is a little clunky in my opinion. Some things are a little more difficult to do now than they were a while back. I probably haven't provided you with much help, but just keep experimenting and I think you will figure it out.

my samsung says video out from i pad is not supported. i am connecting with apple dock using hdmi. I do get the audio  any suggestions?

    Jeffrey-
If the HDMI input to the Samsung is not compatible, does it have a VGA or composite input?  I have both the HDMI and VGA adapters for the iPad, which work with the small Vizio HDTV I tried.  I understand a composite video adapter is also available.

  • Why is my connection with Apple so slow after activating Match

A couple of days ago I activated Match on my laptop. With about 15000 thousand songs it took a long time to sync and upload my missing songs. Crashed a couple of times during the process (iTunes went 'non-responsive'). May have been my impatience. Left it overnight and it got about 2/3 of the way through.
Went to work in the morning, taking my laptop with me and pausing the Match upload.
Got home that evening and all of a sudden my connection with Apple is running slow to non-existent. iTunes won't connect to the store. Match won't fire up. All other internet connectivity is normal. Went to download iTunes to re-install and the file is taking an hour to download when normally it would be 2-3 minutes.
Why would all my connectivity to Apple be so slow? Even if iTunes fully shut down and Match not operational I can't download anything from Apple with any speed. Like I said all othe internet connectivity is normal.
    Thanks
    F.

Seems to be fixed and due to Bonjour not being on (although I never turned it off between starting Match and it working then it stopping working).
Went into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and looked for anything Apple related which wasn't running.
Bonjour was the only service I found which was disabled. Turned this on then closed and re-started iTunes and Match now appears to be working.

  • No temperature sensor? (Titanium PowerBook 15" - 867 Mhz)

I have a Titanium PowerBook 15" (867 Mhz) and I tried running iPulse and Temperature Monitor to check out its internal cpu/motherboard temperature. To my surprise, both applications tell me that I have no access to temperature information (Temperature monitor even tells me that I have no internal sensors for it to read info from).
Does this laptop includes a temperature sensor? Or are both applications correct?

Hi, Michael. If your fans are running when you don't think they should, there are several possible reasons:
    1. Your expectations are unrealistic, and you're supposing that your Powerbook is, or should be, cool when it isn't and shouldn't be.
    2. You have processor-intensive widgets and/or background processes running that you aren't aware of, and they're generating more heat than you think. Use Activity Monitor to see whether anything is using lots of processor cycles, and turn off any unnecessary processes.
    3. Your battery charging system isn't properly calibrated, and the charging circuitry is generating heat unnecessarily. Reset your Power Manager and calibrate your battery to see whether matters will improve afterward.
    4. Classic is running when you don't need it. Classic generates unreasonable amounts of heat doing almost nothing. Quit Classic when you're not using it.

  • Setup problem:  Can't setup Treo 650 (Cingular) with iSync on Macbook

    Hi,
Trying to use my Treo 650 with iSync on my MacBook. It worked fine with an iMac G5 running OS X 10.4.8.
I paired my Treo with the MacBook. That seemed to go OK, but the Bluetooth Setup Assistant showed a message saying "There were no supported services found on your device" at the end of the pairing process.
When I launched iSync, I went to Devices --> Enable Palm OS Syncing and let the conflicting Palm conduits disabled. No problem there.
But when I then choose Devices --> Add Device, a window appears as the MacBook searches and finds my phone. It then displays the message "1 device found", with the name of my device next to a phone icon. Beneath that, another message says "iSync cannot connect to this device".
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? My Treo is set to discoverable. I can't figure it out.
    Thanks in advance!

The Add Device… response is normal. You cannot add a Palm device using that menu option - it is added as a consequence of selecting the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option beneath it in the list.
If you have successfully paired your Treo using Bluetooth and triggered the installation and configuration of it after selecting the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option and it still does not appear as a device in the main window of iSync, you should launch the HotSync Manager to insure that the iSync Palm Conduit appears—it's listed as the iSync Conduit—and that it has been activated: the checkbox in the conduit configuration panel should be checked.
This may also be a basic Bluetooth issue, as the your Treo contains several supported Bluetooth profiles, and is a supported device. You might want to break the link, and pair it once again, initiating that action from your smartphone and confirming it from your MacBook.

  • Sprint Treo 650 resets when trying to activate

I broke my centro and now I'm borrowing a treo 650 from a family member but can't seem to get to activate it with my account. Whenever I try to turn on the phone it stays frozen on Network Search for a few mintues and then it just says that the phone is off. And every time I put in the secondary activation code, the phone just brings up the Sprint welcome screen and then resets. I've tried soft and hard resets, the CDMA updater, and walking around outside while turning on the radio.
If it helps, under phone info the Phone Number, PCS vision username, ESN, PRL Rev, and PRI checksum are blank.
    Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

If you did a soft and the almighty hard reset then there's really nothing much that you can do except sending it for repair. Although the repair cost will roughly equal the **same amount** as purchasing a new Centro.
The next step that I recommend doing would be to take it to a Sprint store and having a Sprint Rep. inspect the device.

  • No connection with apple tv

I have an apple 1  and an apple tv.  the connection is a problem. sometimes I get connection and sometimes not. and there is no logic in the system.
my son was here was his I-phone, and he had no prpblems with the connection with my apple tv.
so what is the problem? and what can I do about it.?

You cannot enable mirroring from within an app. You must double tap home button, swipe left to right to bring up airplay, then select Apple TV and toggle ON mirroring

  • 802.11n connection with Apple Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I have a 2009 Mac book pro notebook. I would like to purchase a router that would allow me to create a wireless network to which I can connect at 802.11n speed.
My understanding was that, at least until recently, Apple had their own version of 802.11n that was not guaranteed to connect to non-Apple routers.
Can any/all recent current 802.11n Linksys routers connect with Mac Pros using 802.11n?
    Thanks

You can go for Linksys "N" Routers..Some good model no are WRT160N,WRT320N,WRT610N...

  • Problem with connecting with apple support

Gosh I just want to get support for Apple TV.  Been jumping around link to link and discovering very un user friendly.  Easy to put in discussion.  Guess the movies I rented will never get watched but thats ok they already have the money for them.

I now solved my issue by buying a DVI -mini display port adapter and connecting through my DVI cable to the monitor. But APPLE ...this is not good! you should resolve this issue so it is possible to connect with a HDMI cable.
