Spry and Dreamweaver
I'm somewhat new to web design and I'm trying to create a
website that has a horizontal navigation bar with drop down menus.
I have Dreamweaver MX, but I know that Dreamweaver CS3 has features
that ease the development of Spry pages, making the kind of
navigation bar I want possible without having to know Javascript.
Is it possible to use Spry 1.6 with Dreamweaver MX, or will I need
to upgrade to Dreamweaver CS3 in order to create the kind of
navigation bar I want? Thanks for your help.
There are as far i know, no extentions for MX. U can always
MANUALLY copy and paste the code from the samples that are found
here

averyHi avery,
'cause there was no-one who answered to your question till now, you could bring your thread into the Spry-forum:

There you will find the experts for all your questions about Spry applications.
Good luck!

Can I use Spry 1.6 with Dreamweaver 8? If so, how do I do
it?I believe you can, but DW8 won't doesn't display any Spry
menu bars for dropping in Spry widgets into your code
automatically. You have to hand code everything. I would recommend
downloading the latest version of Spry and working through the
samples. As long as you are including the javascript and css files
in the head of your html it should work.

You're right that there should be no problem with a local
file, but
without seeing the XML file and your code, it's impossible to
say what's
causing the problem. I think your best bet is to post a more
detailed
question in the Spry forum.

Still working on a website using Spry and Flash. I have this
page (select portfolio) that works in Safari, FF on the Mac and FF
on the PC but not IE7. It was coded using swfobject to load the
Flash.
http://208.106.214.149/eryxtest/index.html
I changed the code to Dreamweaver's Flash loading script. I
now have two problem. One, how to pass a parameter that is being
set - xmlDataPath1 = '{@name}'; to the script. I have this
hardcoded at the moment. Second, for some reason the script now
runs when the page loads and not when selected from the menu like
the the above link.

Please, any help would be appreciated. My original goal was
to replace a totally Flash based site with Spry + Flash, eventually
replacing the Flash gallery with a javascript gallery.Charlie,
Did you figure this out? I've got a similar thing, where I'm
calling a simple flash URL, using Spry and an XML file, but it
won't work in IE7.
My document is at:

I don't know if you can overcome the problem in a different
way. I know for
sure IE has many idiosyncrasies when it came to
<select>. You may try
searching old messages on this forum too, since you are not
the first
reporting similar problems.

Can't download photoshop and dreamweaver in cloud. Says Installed, but I don't have it
So a while ago I was using the trial version of photoshop and dreamweaver. I decided to pay for cloud to access these programs but I uninstalled the programs first. Now when I click the download I can't install either one because it says installed next to the image.
I had asked someone on the website through the chat if I would have this exact problem and they told me so long as I purchased the product i would not have the issue. I didn't want to purchase if I was going to have the problem, but I'm having it
I needed this program tonight so I'm considering just cancellingHi JessyaDoucett,
I would first double-check that you actually uninstalled them, usually the Adobe Application Manager checks the system to see what is currently installed, if Photoshop and Dreamweaver didn't actually get uninstalled that would explain what you are seeing.
Don't uninstall, rather check if these products are listed here
on Mac OS
1. Double-click your hard drive.
2. Go to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers.
on Windows
1. Click Start > Control Panel.
2. Click Programs and Features.
If they didn't actually get uninstalled you should be able to convert the existing installations to be included as part of your Creative Cloud Membership using this workflow
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/convert-cs6-licensed-under-ccm.html
If they were uninstalled but something went wrong you might need to install again from the trial or use the Adobe Cleaner tool as next steps
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
You can launch Adobe Application Manager from
Applications Folder on Mac or the Start Menu on Windows to reinstall when you're ready

I am retired. In my active years, I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard and Dreamweaver CS5 for my Windows environment. I recently spent a fortune to migrate to Apple. I now (and a bite late) realize that my licenses are not recognized by Adobe. I am desperate. I cannot afford the expense of buying or paying access to the software and, still, I need the tools for all those little things I do for enjoyment. What can be done?
The licenses are operating system specific, so one option would be to retain use of the Windows machine you had before the Mac.
If you want to try to use the older stuff on your new Mac you can try installing Windows emulation software such as Bootcamp. -
in dreamweaver mx 2004 and dreamweaver cs4, how I configure, when download/upload do not ask me to include DEPENDED FILES but act without including ?
Open the Preferences panel (Edit menu on Windows, Dreamweaver menu on a Mac), and select the Site category. There are two checkboxes there for dependent files. Make sure both are selected. The Dreamweaver default is NOT to upload/download dependent files. You need to click Yes, if you want the dependent files to be included.

Flash not rendering correctly in IE using Spry and SWFObject.
Hi,
Tools that I'm using (Flash, Spry and SWFObject)
I just finished converting portions of the image gallery to a
video gallery using FLV Files.
It works great in FireFox and Opera, I guess all mozilla
based browsers.
Now my problem is that I pass the Path variable to Flash for
it to load the FLV file using SWFObject.
Code:
<div spry:detailregion="dsVideos"
class="AccordionPanelContent">
<div id="flashcontent"> You need to upgrade your Flash
Player. </div>
<script type="text/javascript">
// <![CDATA[
var so = new SWFObject("VideoPlayer.swf", "videoplayer",
"427", "288", "8", "#161616");
so.addVariable("video", "{@path}");
so.write("flashcontent");
// ]]>
</script>
</div>
The FLV files won't load at all in IE meaning the variable is
not going thru when Flash is rendered for a second time.
So I added another variable just to see Flash reaction once
the page loaded for the first time.
Code:
so.addVariable("Variable1", "I Love This Bug!");
I added Variable1 to the Flash Movie as a textbox and It
loads in a split second for the first render but when Spry loads it
datasets and renders the region where Flash resides the variable
doesnt go thru and Flash gets a undefined variable.
When Spry renders that region the video variable is not going
thru and no video is shown. :(
Any suggestion?Don -
Have you had any success here? I've been trying to get any
kind of Flash
to load properly in IE in a spry:region (or :detailregion),
and have
failed entirely.
I added spry:state="ready" to the div with the Flash movie,
but no fix.
I've tested with both IE 6 and IE 7 beta, and with FP 8 and
FP 9.
I have a few test pages (everything works great in FireFox):
- www.imagicdigital.com/portfolios/video_state7.html
(uses SWFObject to write the movie, with spry info as
FlashVars)
IE: Flash movie is hidden. No FlashVars are passed.
- www.imagicdigital.com/portfolios/video_state7_noso.html
(same page as above, but with the standard Object/Embed tags,
no SWFObject)
IE: Flash movie is hidden. No FlashVars are passed.
- www.imagicdigital.com/portfolios/video_state7a_noso.html
(same page as above but with hardcoded FlashVars)
IE: Flash movie is hidden. No FlashVars are passed.
- www.imagicdigital.com/portfolios/video_state7b_noso.html
(a Flash movie with no FlashVars at all)
IE: Flash movie is hidden.
- www.imagicdigital.com/portfolios/video_state7c_noso.html
(same as 7a but with spry:region removed from the flash div)
IE: Works perfectly. Flash movie shows up, FlashVars are
passed.
I noticed a few things:
- In IE, the spry:debug generated markup shows FlashVars="",
empty.
- I don't see an innerHTML fix call for the FlashVideo div,
even if I
make it into a spry:region instead of detailregion. Can this
help omehow?
- In IE 7, if I right-click where my flash movie is supposed
to show up,
it does become visible (with no FlashVars). However, IE often
crashes
after that, either right away or on window close. The error
shown in
the alert is "Out of Memory at Line 56". This is both with
and without
passing FlashVars.
NOTE: This error was just recently discussed on the SWFObject
mailing
list. Geoff Stearns found a sort of bug in FP 9 that was also
causing
this same error when 2 Flash movies were embedded with
SWFObject and
each making different ExternalInterface calls. He fixed it by
removing
the function written by Flash when it loads called
"__flash_unloadHandler()". Link to the relevant discussion
thread:
http://lists.deconcept.com/htdig.cgi/swfobject-deconcept.com/2006-July/000795.html
It would be great (crucial, I think) to get Spry to work with
SWFs. Any
ideas or progress? Thanks in advance. -
Illustrator and Dreamweaver CC
Good Night
I have the programs of the creative cloud CC, only when I go to open Illustrator and Dreamweaver says: Adobe Illustrator stopped working. Enable the Verdana font and restart Illustrator or Dreamweaver. When I return activate the verdana font programs open normally, but if you turn on the computer it returns the message.
Can anyone help me please?
