Spry Collapsible Panels - Way to set them open only once per visit?

I'm wondering if there is a way to set a Spry Collapsible
Panel to be automatically open on the initial loading of the site,
but as people navigate around the site and back and forth from the
home page, to be able to have it closed on subsequent visits to the
home page.
Right now I have a collapsible panel set to OPEN by default
when someone first hits the home page, but if they navigate around
the site and then click to the home page again, they get the panel
open again. Naturally, that will end up annoying people.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Flash local shared object can help with this. Here is some info:

  • Spry Collapsible panel - open and closed default question...

    I am using a Spry Collapsible panel in a vertical nav menu (DW CS4) and it's in a template for my site. I want it to be closed as default on the Home page, but when a visitor clicks to open it and selects their option, I would like it to remain open on the selected page - Is there a way to do this?
    Thank you all!

    Hi All,

  • How to make Spry Collapsible Panels open one at a time?

    Hello,
    I am using CS5 and want to use the spry collapsible panels. What I notice (and I think this wasn't the case in cs3) is that all panels can be open at the same time. I don't want that happen. I only want one panel to be open at a time. If someone clicks on a panel that is closed, I want the current panel to close and the one they clicked on to open. I don't want multiple panels to be opne at once. How can I do this? I am not a web developer by any means, so please be easy on me with code. I think in CS3 it used to work this way. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

    GRAMPS!! That's it!! It was the accordian panel I had used in the past!!!! Oh, thank you, I was driving myself crazy as to why it wasn't working the way I had remembered!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!
    I was told you would probably help me find the right answer by Hans-g!
    Thanks again!

  • Spry collapsible panel stays open in Internet Explorer.

    I'm trying to use the spry collapsible panel to hide and show inormation, and it will not stay closed.  I've used the default closed option in the properties panel, and made sure the eye in design view is closed.  Please give some suggestions for correcting this problem.

    The out-of-the-box SpryCollapiblePanel works like a charm.
    This means that you have altered  the HTML, CSS and/or the JS.
    Because we are not privy to what you have done, it is not possible to help you find a solution.
    I recommend that you upload the site and supply a link to that site.

  • Google map inside the spry collapsible panel

    So this time I've bumped into interesting 'bug'. I've placed the google map inside the spry collapsible panel. Panel is set to the closed mode on load of page. When I open the tab, map appears, but address marker is hidden behind the top left corner. If I place the same map outside the collapsiple panel it renders all well.
    So my  question is whether there is any way around this issue. When I know where the marker is hidden I can simply move the map and see it, but customer who's not aware of the problem will see only blank map with not marked address which is not acceptable.
    cheers,
    Simon

    Sure mate. Here you go:
    <div id="CollapsiblePanel1" class="CollapsiblePanel">
                  <div class="CollapsiblePanelTab" tabindex="0">SHOW MAP</div>
                  <div class="CollapsiblePanelContent">
                  <cfmap  width="242" height="200" zoomlevel="12" name="mainMap" markercolor="333444" showscale="false"
    typecontrol="none"  showcentermarker="true" centeraddress="#get_event.event_address1#, #get_event.event_address2#, #get_event.event_city#,#get_event.event_county#, #get_event.event_postcode#, #get_event.event_country#  "
    ></cfmap>
                  </div>
                </div>
    And this bit goes at the bottom of the code :
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var CollapsiblePanel1 = new Spry.Widget.CollapsiblePanel("CollapsiblePanel1", {contentIsOpen:false});
      </script>
    And that would be the preview that I get once the panel is open:
    And that is the preview of how it should look:
    As you can see the map marker sticks to the top left corner. I was wondering whether there is any way to re-focus it once the panel is open.
    cheers,
    Simon

  • Spry Collapsible Panel problem when previewing in web browser

    Hello.
    I have inserted a spry collapsible panel into my website, made ZERO adjustments to any of the scripting or even css styling, and previewed the panel in my Safari browser. It does not seem to be working correctly. I've attached a couple of images showing what the panel looks like in the browser. My site is not published yet, so I cannot give out the url.
    Is something wrong with the js file? I tried the panel earlier on a different site on the same computer and it was working fine.
    the "Tab" menu text does not fit inside the grey box. Everything collapses fine, however, the gray box is too thin for the text. I've tried adjusting it in the CSS sheet, but it doesn't seem to change anything.
    This is the panel in the collapsed state. It looks bad. I know it's not supposed to work like this.
    When I preview the site in "live view" everything works fine...

    I have inserted a spry collapsible panel into my website, made ZERO
    adjustments to any of the scripting or even css styling
    That is good, that means that I have a local copy of the scripting and css files eliminating the need to attach the code to a post.
    Is something wrong with the js file? I tried the panel earlier on a
    different site on the same computer and it was working fine
    The fact that it works on a different site means that something is correct. My assumption is that the scripting and css files are doing their job correctly and to answer your question regarding the js file, no.
    Having eliminated the Spry original JavaScript and CSS files as being the culprits, there must be a problem with the rest of the site, incorrect HTML, other interfering JavaScript or CSS.
    I can keep guessing, but only those persons that are privy to your code can give you any positive input. Please find a way to upload your files so that we can see the code in context.
    To this end, screen captures do not assist in solving the problem, they only add to others' amusement at seeing the problem.

  • Spry Collapsible panel works in Safari, Firefox but not in IE 7 and 8

    Revising a page and wish to have the Spry Collapsible Panel load "closed". Never used Spry before but is works ok as mentioned but when page is opened in IE the panel is open and stays open. Clicking does not close it.
    The panel tab reads "CLICK To See Matched Rail & Stile Set-Up Blocks".
    Did I mention I am not a programmer? Thanks for the help.

    Jon,
    Not a good way to start. You need to have some basic skills to work on websites. OK, if you want to build a bridge for your toy cars to cross a model railway line, you could probably cope, but to build a bridge in the real world, you need  real knowledge.
    Having said that, I have pulled all of the relevant code from your page to re-construct the collapsible panel and, although the markup would not be the one I would have gone for, the widget works in all browsers, see the code below. This means that the problem lies elsewhere.

  • Jqzoom widget inside spry collapsible panel

    I am attempting to place the jqzoom widget inside a spry collapsible panel. The wodget works fine in the html page created for it but will not work in the collapsible oanel page. I believe all documents are in the appropriate folder.

                  <p>Homeopathy is a  wonderful system of natural medicine which is safe, non-toxic and effective. It  is so safe that expectant mothers and newborn babies can use it, except for a  few specific remedies. </p>
      <p>A homeopathic  remedy contains a very minutely diluted dose of the original medicinal  ingredient, and that is why it is so safe. The higher potencies of a remedy do  not even have any of the original substance in them, only the memory or energy  from it. The purpose of a homeopathic remedy is to give specific information to  the body. Then, the body can use this information to heal and repair.</p>
                  <p>A homeopathic  remedy can be selected <em>according to the  symptoms</em>. It can also be selected <em>according  to the patient’s constitution</em>, which considers many factors about an  individual. </p>
                  <p>Food preferences,  general features, personality and temperament, such as whether he wants to be  left alone or comforted when he does not feel well, what makes his symptoms  better and what makes them worse, even a person’s fears, are considered,  because they are all part of who that unique individual is. A person’s  constitutional remedy will help him with a lot of different symptoms, because  it was selected especially for him.</p>
                  <p>I would not want to be without homeopathic  remedies. You can take them as required, without  worrying about side effects. They can make your life so much more comfortable.  They can be used to stimulate your immune system, so that, eventually, you do  not require them as often, if at all. For example, during allergy season,  people can get a lot of relief from homeopathic formulas for allergies.<br clear="all" />
                  </p>
                  <p>Homeopathic  medicine can also help with mental and emotional symptoms, not only physical  problems. For example, homeopathic remedies can be helpful for those who are  anxious, depressed or even grieving.    <br />

Let’s say that you are in a canoe, enjoying a  relaxing, peaceful ride down a calm, scenic river on a beautiful summer day.  Meanwhile, I am riding in an airplane, just above the same river, and I can  spot you in your canoe. </p>
                  <p>However, I can  also see that, around the next bend, there is a set of swirling rapids and a  very steep, dangerous waterfall. </p>
                  <p>You have no idea of what you are headed for, but  I can warn you. Fortunately, since we both have cell phones, I can call you  immediately, to warn you of the imminent danger.  You can decide then to pull onto the shore, and check out the rapids before  deciding whether or not to proceed. Or you can decide to turn the canoe around,  and head back the other way. You can also choose to ignore me, of course, but,  no matter what you choose, you will have been warned!</p>
      <p>In Iridology, for  instance, if I see that a person has a congested or toxic bowel, I can advise  him to do a colon cleanse. <a href="PDf/EYE SPY.pdf" target="_new">More information</a><br />

                  That’s certainly part  of what makes my approach so effective! I can use Iridology to help pinpoint  the specific problems. Homeopathy and nutrition can be used as assessment tools  as well. It’s like having more than one tool in your tool kit. The more  professional tools one has, the better. </p>
                  <p>This allows me to  create an individualized health plan that incorporates different resources,  including nutritional supplements, essential oils, gemmotherapy formulas and homeopathic  remedies, as required.                   Sure! Think of  your car. It won’t get you to your destination if you don’t have enough fuel to  get there. And it can’t be polluted fuel or watered down fuel, because that’s  just asking for trouble. Your fuel has to have the right octane rating. </p>
                  <p>Your body is like  a car; it’s your go-mobile! If you don’t supply it with the right fuel  (nutrition),you will lose your  get-up-and-go! When you nourish your body properly, you will naturally tend to  have more energy.  </p>
      <p>Even so, you can  fuel up your car with good quality fuel, but if the fuel pump needs repair,  then it’s still not going to work properly for you. If you have a body part  that needs repair, homeopathy can help. </p>
                  <p>We also give our  cars an oil change on a regular basis. Similarly, we can cleanse, regularly, to  clear out our organs, such as the liver, the kidneys, the skin and the  intestines, of toxins that accumulate over time.</p>
                  <p>We can also use  homeopathic formulas to clean out the receptors of the cells in our bodies,  which is where toxic residues can accumulate. Then, our go-mobiles can run more  efficiently! </p>
                  <p>There is one difference, though. We can trade in  our car, when it gets old and worn out. But, we cannot trade in our bodies! We  get one only, and it needs to last us a lifetime! So we  need to take care of it the best we can! <br />

  • Need help with spry collapsible panel (menu)

    I learn as I go when I created my website http://www.invitation-fascination.com/shapes.html and so far I've created a page with 13 spry collapsible panels- I think it came out pretty well.  Now this is what I want to add to the page:
    I want to create a selector (drop down) menu above the panels with the option to select any one of the 13 panels.
    Once selected it will move directly to that panel and open it.
    I've tried the piselect thing and with the "open" and "close" button that will programatically open the panels, but what I want is for the panel to be selected from the menu and then the page goes directly to that panel and it then opens.
    Is there a way this can be done?  Please help
    I'm really not that good at this stuff- please be easy with your response- thank you

  • Help with spry collapsible panel

    I have several spry collapsible panels that I am using for
    navigation and want an open panel to close automatically when a new
    one is opened. Can this be done? I checked the "customuze this
    widget" in the property inspector but does not give any info on the
    behavior of them. I am sure it is in the java code but I am not a
    Java expert by any means.

  • Spry Collapsible Panel at bottom of page - how to make the browser scrolldown automatically

    The question is -
    i have a collapsible panel at the bottom of my page that I'm using as a footer menu.
    It is 200px tall. The visitor clicks on "FIND OUT MORE", then the panel opens 200px tall.
    I want the viewing area of browser to focus on the content of this panel, and automatically scroll down 200px to accomodate the new real estate at the bottom of the page.
    Now they click on it, but then have to manually scroll down.
    How can I do this? What do I add to the Spry Collapsible Panel js scripts?
    I tried using a tag at the bottom of the 200px but can't get it to work correctly.
    Dreamweaver CS5.
    thanks

    I have been closing IE and reopening it for 7 months now. I don't of any other way to reload an applet.

  • Spry Collapsible Panel Rotation

    I have been looking through many tools that have came with Dream Weaver and the spry collapsible panel would look great in my site but im having trouble putting it in the way I would like it to look.  Im trying to insert the spry so that the tabs are read verticaly and open horizantaly with all of its contents being able to be read normaly instead of verticaly. What would I have to edit to to do this?

    To convert the Spry Collapsible Panel would require a lot of changes in the JS. It is therefore better to find a ready-made solution such as here http://www.portalzine.de/Horizontal_Accordion_Plugin_2/index.html
