Spry drop-down nav bar not working in Netscape 7

Hello
My site is up at www.Frontiers.uk.net.
I built a drop down navigation menu using Dreamweaver's new
Spry feature. It works fine in IE 6 & 7, Firefox & Mozilla,
but in Netscape 7 (the only Netscape I've tested), the dop-down
menus don't always appear (eg under Courses), and the submenus,
which should slide out to the right (eg. next to 'Children's
courses' under Courses) - do not work.
This bothers me as my stats (LiveStats) say that 30% of my
users (the highest amount) are using Netscape 7.x. Which I find
strange (I don't think that figure includes Firefox as the stats
list that separately).
Anyone else have this problem, and any idea how to fix it?
Thanks,
James

Also, is there any way to remove unused styles (in an external CSS) in DW? Just it would be a pain to go through and remove the styles I've tried, but then later decided not to use.
Not exaclty a DW answer, but I've used the free FireFox add-on to help me find unused selectors. Point it to a sitemap.xml and it can spider the whole site (as listed in that xml file).

But be careful with it. It apparently doesn't read JavaScript and your PMM triggers are actually used.

  • Places drop-down menu bar not working

    I recently imported my iPhoto library to Aperture. All my geotags are intact as far as I can tell. All seems to be working well with the exception of the drop-down menu bar at the top of Places. It tells me the number of countries, states/provinces, cities, and places, but when I click on any of them, no drop-down happens. The only thing that works is clicking on the home button. Any advice??

    Thanks for posting this.  This was driving me nuts.
    If you haven't already, could you please file a bug report?  The more of us who complain, the more likely they are to fix this.
    Thanks!

  • My Drop Down Menus Do Not Work Properly in IE

    Hey. I'm really stuck and have been for over a week. Let me preface this by telling you I didn't build our website and have little knowledge of spry and spry assets. I can't the get the gentleman that built our site to help and I'm desperate!
    The site - www.ncsoccer.org , has drop down menus. They work fine in Chrome, FF and Live Preview (DW CS4). But in IE8, they do not.
    I had to revise the drop downs (changing names and removing some drop downs - I've done this with no problem before). When I uploaded the index page and the template pages, the error started.
    In addition, the people in my office that use Contribute to update their sections, cannot access anything but our index page and I don't know what (if anything) I've done wrong, as everything worked fine before the menu revision.
    I'm including the 'sprymenubarhorizontal.css" code below. Maybe you can see something that isn't right.
    Thanks for any insight or suggestions. Remember, asking me to create to create sprys or widgets or something like that may be over my head! Try to dumb it down for me!
    Thanks.

  • Double horizontal spry drop down menu bar problems

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm new to the spry tools and I need a little help. This is what I'm trying to accomplish in Dreamweaver CS4:
    I need 2 horizontal spry menu bars for navigation. I have created a div for each spry tool, 1 div placed above the other and they cross the entire width of the page. I have created the spry menu bars. Everything seems to be working correctly in both menu bars, That is until you open the IE browser, all other browsers tested fine. The problem is that when you hover over the bottom menu bar in IE, the drop down menu does not drop all the way down. The first submenu of the drop down menu covers the main menu bar. I have tried to change the css for the spry menu bar at the ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE to show the display: as inline and also tried block and niether had any effect. Someone please help. • Can't get the default spry drop down menu bar ??

    Every time I create a new drop down menu bar it comes up with one that has the same properties as the last one I created. And I can't fix that last one. I'd like to start over but DW won't let me. Help?

    If you are trying to insert a new menu bar with different properties than the last, for instance when you want to start over with a fresh styling approach, remember that the menubar css file will apply to all menus in the site, unless you distinguish the menus with an id on the containing element (div).
    Go ahead and delete the old css file from the SpryAssets folder, if you want to start over. When you insert the new menubar, a new css file will also be installed.
    You might find it useful to keep on hand (in a separate folder, out of the site folder) a 'clean' and new menubar css file, for use troubleshooting (by comparing the original with your edited version) or for copying into the site in this kind of situation. But if all  you want is a new original copy, just following my suggestion above will work.

  • How to Make a Non-Spry Drop Down Menu Bar?

    In Dreamweaver CS6, I'm building a Fluid Grid website. I'm trying to make a simple menu bar with 2 submenu items and 2 subsubmenu items. I was using Spry but found out that Spry is dead. So what do I use instead?

    First of all, if you are in a hurry, Project VII's Pop Menu Magic 3 is a great choice. Since it's a Dreamweaver plugin, making navigation is a snap. Just click on the PMM icon and start making.
    One does not need CSS3 for a drop-down menu structure—the necessary requirement to talk to a web browser is in CSS2. Also you do not need to load your website with jQuery—though I don't want to come across as "anti-jQuery."
    Here is a link to a complete tutorial on pure CSS drop-down navigation. There are dozens of others.
    The real secret is using position:relative, then position:absolute for the drop-down and hiding it by positioning it off-screen when not in use. This tutorial also uses some CSS3 for tablets and cell phones, though it is not required for desktops.
    You can take this a step further by hiding the entire navigation structure (and then revealing it) for cell phones with this tutorial. This will allow you to construct navigation for your website so that it will work for all devices.
    Please note, no jQuery is necessary in either of these tutorials.

  • Hroizontal Nav bar not working in IE

    I have spent a lot of time setting up a spry horizontal navbar on a mac viewing it in Safari and Firefox.
    It has been challenging but it seemed to be working. Now I am checking it on a Windows machine, Firefox still works but IE is not working.
    On Windows in IE8 : The menu bar stacks in a big pile of full length center jusitfied menu buttons? the submenus are all left aligned but they do function.
    In compatibility mode they disappear all together.
    The margins are also off, the IE seems to match more accurately what I am seeing in dreamweaver ( i have had a really hard time center justifying the menu bar even with all the directions and code snippits, but the point is the variation and not matching FireFox or safari.

  • JS Validation for Drop down List is not working in Oracle PL/SQL Package

    Hi All,
    I am facing an issue with JavaScript validation done in Oracle PL SQL package.
    System Requirement:
    There is one screen which contains two fields viz. FLD 1 & FLD 2 and one 'Submit' button.
    FLD 1 and FLD 2 fields are drop down list boxes.These are mandatory fields.
    The screen is developed in Oracle Mod PL SQL package.
    The html coding and java scripting are embedded in the respective Oracle PL SQL Package procedure which generates this screen,takes the input values provided by user,does the
    field validations and submits the form.
    Issue:
    The javascript validation for FLD 2 dropdown is working successfully.
    When the user leaves this field as blank,the embedded javascript pops up an error message 'Selection of FLD 2 is manadatory before submitting the form!'.
    As FLD 1 is also a mandatory field,the javascripting validation should pop up the similar error message 'Selection of FLD 1 is manadatory before submitting the form!'.
    But,this first field validation is not at all working.
    The system allows to submit the form even if the 'FLD 1' is left blank.
    The javascript code sysntax for validation of FLD 1 & FLD 2 drop down list boxes as follows:
    function validate_form_fields()
    if (document.forms[0].p_fld_1.selectedIndex == 0))) || (document.forms
    [0].p_fld_1.selectedIndex < 1 )
    alert("Selection of FLD 1 is manadatory before submitting the form!!!");
    return false;
    else if (document.forms[0].p_fld_2.selectedIndex == 0))) || (document.forms
    [0].p_fld_2.selectedIndex < 1 )
    alert("Selection of FLD 2 is manadatory before submitting the form!!!");
    return false;
    return true;
    I am viewing the screen from the web browser IE version 8.0.
    Your timely help will really be appreciated.
    Regards & Thanking in advance,
    Alka

    Hi,
    1. Your problem is actually related to JavaScript, not SQL and PL/SQL. So, this is the wrong forum to post. The closest to JS is the Application Express forum {forum:id=137}. Clearly state that it is not an Apex issue and that you are looking for JS help.
    2. Your JS code, the way you has posted it, is syntactically incorrect, so if you post on Apex forum put the correct code and in tags as described in the FAQ
    {quote}
    function validate_form_fields()
    if (document.forms[0].p_fld_1.selectedIndex == 0))) || (document.forms
    [0].p_fld_1.selectedIndex < 1 )
    alert("Selection of FLD 1 is manadatory before submitting the form!!!");
    return false;
    else if (document.forms[0].p_fld_2.selectedIndex == 0))) || (document.forms

  • Simple Drop Down Menu buttons not working

    I'm having a bit of trouble getting a button in a hoover over drop down menu to link to another scene in the .swf movie. I just doing a basic drop down menu (example here: http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Interactivity/Navigation/Drop_dow-Phlook-951/index.php) with a couple of buttons with in a movie clip, the movie clip being the "button" someone hoovers over. The buttons however are not going to the corrisponding scene I have them set up to. What's strange is that if I set in the buttons action panel to go to an url instead of a scene, in the .swf movie the button works when I click it...it wants to go the specificed url. Nothing happens when it's set to go to a scene. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply Ned. The code I'm using on the buttons is the same method I'm using for the regular buttons (i.e. not with in a movie clip).
    on (release) {
        gotoAndPlay("Scene X", 1);
    I like and appreciate the idea on keeping it with in the same timeline, but that didn't work either. This is all very strange, because as I said, the buttons that are not with in a movie clip work with that method in their action panel. And the buttons with in the movie clip work out to an url, just not a scene or frame number.
    I'm using CS4, but I'm not sure which 'Publish' settings I should have it at, and on 'Profile' it's set to 'Flash CS3 Settings (it's either that or 'Flash 5 Settings').

  • MY MSN Stocks Drop Down Menu does not work

    Exactly what I said. Drop down menu on My.MSN homepage does not work.

    Pat,
    Your menus look fine on my system, too. It is possible that your user is working on a system with javascript turned off, either on her own computer or, if she is in a company, turned off by the network administrator. Ask her how she is viewing your website...laptop, desktop, smartphone, tablet, etc., to help you pinpoint what your solution will be.
         If her javascript is turned off (not to be turned on...), one strategy around this is to create pages linked to your top level menu items. On those pages, you can make text links (not dropdowns) to the menu items that show on the drop-downs. This could be paired with the next idea, as a sort of belt-and-suspenders solution.
        A less obtrusive way: Add a secondary, substitute text menu that only appears when javascript is turned off by using <noscript> </noscript> tags around the secondary menus.
         Be wary of solutions that require you to tell different users different things.

  • Drop down list setSelected not working

    Hi all,
    I have a drop down list bound to a database (value: int, display: string). There are two pages:
    page 1: a table with id needed for page 2 (id passed through the url)
    page 2: drop down list bounded to a database. The selected value comes from page 1.
    Problem: Even though I am getting the correct value, and am using ddList.setSelected (id), the ddList value does not change.
    I basically want to know how to program the functionality of the "selected" property in java with a table bound to a database.
    Any ideas?

    Hi There,
    Looks like a user on this thread was able to set his drop down list value dynamically, take a look
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=881&threadID=5055898
    here is what the user comments
    Any way I have solved my problem
    1.Change the value field of dropdown from int to string, so value field and display fields are same.
    2. dropdown1.setvalue("abc");
    this solution will only work if the value field is String.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks
    K
