Spry horizontal menubar

Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to change the dimensions of the
main menu bar (without affecting the submenus) of the spry widget.
I read the documentation but i just couldn't get it to work Can
anyone please point that out.
Is there an easy way of figuring out how to customize the
menu bar widget?
Thanks

This is part of code that i think i need to modify and that
is generated by dreamweaver when i added the spry widget. I am
trying to make the main menu bar slimmer. Right now it's too fat.
Any idea what property i need to modify?
I tried to change the box properties but I couldn't get it to
work
here is the link

Thanks a lot

  • Spry Horizontal Menubar Submenus offset in Explorer

    I am redesigning my website and am having trouble with the spry horizontal menu bar submenus which are offsetting to the right in Explorer.  They should be vertically aligned. They work correctly in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome. Also having troubles with it on the Home page where it does not want to drop down over my table-rollover content.  Any suggestions on how to fix these glitches?  My beta website.

    I changed the document and re-uploaded it to the server.  But the version on the server is still showing no change!  When I close and re-open my original local document, it does show the changes made. Somehow, the changes are not properly uploading to the server or it is not allowing them to post.

  • My spry horizontal menu bar is now displaying vertical. How do I fix it?

    My horizontal spry menu bar displays correctly at http://www.matthewvandyke.com/ar/photos/ but displays vertical at http://www.matthewvandyke.com/ar/about.html.  It started doing this a few days ago and I am not sure why.
    Can anyone take a look at this code and tell me why this would be happening?

    SpryMenuBar.js
    This file handles the JavaScript for Spry Menu Bar.  You should have no need
    to edit this file.  Some highlights of the MenuBar object is that timers are
    used to keep submenus from showing up until the user has hovered over the parent
    menu item for some time, as well as a timer for when they leave a submenu to keep
    showing that submenu until the timer fires.

    I have not seen your error in either my IE or my chrome. I do note that you are using a "strict" Document Type Declaration.
    You might try a transitional DTD, which should be more forgiving than the strict:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    Other than that, I don't see anything particular (because I don't see the error, either) that would cause the menu to drop vertically instead of horizontally.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar not working in IE

    Hi! I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver. I recently used Dreamweaver to build a website to display my digital portfolio. I am not very good at this and don't understand much of this works. I inserted a spry horizontal menu bar for my navigation. I did change the original set up to have the background the colors I wanted and I also changed the size so it would go across the top of my page. This looks fine in Firefox and Safari but in Internet Explorer the bar displays vertically, which does not look good. Can anyone look at my code and tell me how I can fix this problem?
    I appreciate any help I can get with this as I have tried everything I know.
    This is the link to my site: www.digitaldesignsbymargee.com

  • Spry horizontal menu problem in IE and Chrome

    First I'd like to express my frustration with spry. I spend way too much time trying to "band-aid" spry to work in different browers. I'll admit that I'm new to the web game but I seem to spend a large percentage of my time simply trying different "fixes" to something that I don't think should be this much of a problem. Regardless ...
    I've made a pretty simple web page, put a spry horizontal menu on it and it works and displays just like it's supposed to in FF but IE and Chrome both seem to have a problem with it. Currently there are no links attached to it but that's not my problem - getting it to display correctly is. Possibly this issuehas already been addressed but I couldn't find it in the forum. Webpage can be viewed here
    I've put (what I believe to be) the relevant css on the Main Content section of the page. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I am so glad that you started again, this is the best way to learn, trial and error.
    To fix your woes to date, have a look at the following
    .thrColFixHdr #header {padding:0;} /*remove the padding from the menubar container*/
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal{width:auto;margin:0;} /*remove the fixed width and auto margin*/
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li{width:16.6667%;} /*spread the 6 items over the full width 6*16.6667% = 100%*/
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul a{text-align:left;} /*Set the the alignment back to left for any menu item links that are in a sub menu*/
    To add images to your menu items have a look at the following http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/menubar/MenuBarSample.html, you will find it at the bottom of the page.
    I did not realise that SolidWorks still existed, started using it in the mid 1990's, excellent product, easy to use and promotes fast product development. I lost track of it when I went for retirement 10 years ago.
    Gramps.

    Complete page and css code below (scroll down)
    All you should be concerned with at this moment to get the background image to appear in the top level anchor is the css style below:
    /* Menu items that have a submenu have the class designation MenuBarItemSubmenu and are set to use a background image positioned on the far left (95%) and centered vertically (50%) */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a.MenuBarItemSubmenu
    background-color: #000;
    background-image: url(../rot.jpg);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: left top;
    I've added the background-postion because presumably you want it to appear flush left. This overides the out-of-the-box setting which positions it 95% far left.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Submenus Won't Appear - Help

    OK, I have a Spry Horizontal Menu Bar done through DW CS5. The root menu items work just fine. And the arrow graphics indicating there are submenus are shown, however when you hover over the main menu item the submenus do not appear in browser preview. The spry menu bar is located in the header div above a main content div and a sidebar div (two column layout). Interestingly enough if I drop a new menu bar in the main content div with sample submenus it works fine, so the css file must be ok because they both read off the same css file.
    My only assumption is there is something in the header code which conflicts with the submenus and is not allowing the submenus to appear. Unfortunately I can't post it only in a test location as I am reworking an existing website and when I post the new css file it will obviously change the existing website.
    But here is some of the relevant code. First the HTML for the section in question.
    I very much appeciate any advice.

  • Spry horizontal menu showing as vertical ul in WordPress theme- help?

    I am trying to modify a fairly simple WordPress theme to match the look of other (static) pages on my site. I inserted a horizontal Spry menu in the file header.php. In the split code window in DW this has the proper appearance, but in MAMP (or on the remote server) it appears as as a vertical list of underlined links. I am guessing that the menu's appearance is being over-ridden somewhere, but where? Here is header.php; thanks for any help.

    Thanks for the prompt help. The site root for Test Blog is at Sites/wordpress and the header.php for the theme is at Sites/wordpress/wp-content/themes/Basic. The scripts call Sites/wordpress/SpryAssets so ../../../ should be correct. When I load Basic/header.php in DW, the menu displays properly in Split view.
    As you know, wordpress loads the top-level index.php and that uses the index.php found in the activated theme to format the page. When I load this top-level index.php into DW, it displays the Spry menu correctly (horizontal, hover color change), but when I use option-F12 to load into Safari at localhost/wordpress, it shows the vertical list of links.
    The page is at timothybuchanan.org/wp. What I am wondering now is why the same page would display correctly inside DW and not in the browser. What should I check?

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar Shift Error in IE

    My horizontal submenus keep shifting to the right in Internet
    Explorer. See here:
    home test .
    I've downloaded and replaced the js with this "fix" (
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBar.js)
    but it's still not working. Thanks for any help!

    Did you ever get this fixed. I have the same error. See
    www.adshapiro.com/tset. In ie the submenu is way off the page to
    the right.
    If you fixed this please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Spry horizontal drop down problem in IE

    I would appreciate some help with a project I'm working on. My spry horizontal drop down menu looks best in Apple Safari on a Mac and looks worst in IE 8 on a PC. There are also some problems apparent in Firefox for both PC and Mac.
    The problem in IE is that the horizontal bar is not the correct height even though I have set the height in the css:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a
        display: block;
        cursor: pointer;
        color: #FFF;
        text-decoration: none;
        font-family: "Arial Narrow", Arial, Helvetica;
        font-size: 10pt;
        padding-top: 0.7em;
        padding-bottom: 0em;
        font-weight: normal;
        background-repeat: repeat-x;
        background-image: url(/2011images/gradientnav.jpg);
        height: 30px;
    The drop downs are the correct size, just the top menu bar that is not the right size.
    The menu bar is the correct height in Firefox and Safari, but in Firefox the menu bar is a few pixels higher than it should be.
    Here's the page I'm working on.

    Hi,
    Firstly, I cannot see what you have done because the online code has not changed.
    Secondly, have a look here to see what is wrong with your HTML-code.
    Thirdly, have a look at removing your tables and using DIV's instead as per following example
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

        padding: 0;

    If you want differing widths for your menu items then add a CSS rule as follows
    <li style = "width: 70px;"><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
    For obvious reasons, I have not completed your page completely, the above is merely an example.
    I hope this helps.

  • Spry horizontal menu titles

    Ok here is my problem. I am using the spry horizontal menu and am trying to make a list of drop down menus. Rather than having sub menus that have flyout child menus I just want to have a list of menus that have titles.
    Basically What I want would be something like this
    Header
    Title
         Link
         Link
         Link
    Title2
         Link
         Link
         Link
    rather than:
    Header
    Title >   Link
                Link
                Link
    Title2 > Link
                Link
                Link
    However, I can't figure out how to make my titles just be plain titles, rather than links. As it stands, when I hover over my titles, spry can't differentiate them from the actual links that will go to different pages.
    I don't really care if they are still links, I can work around that. I guess my question is, is there a way to change the CSS so that some of the submenus look different then others
    (ex. titles don't change font or background color but the rest of them highlight in blue)
    Hope this makes sense,
    Thanks in advance

    Something like this?
    <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarVertical">
      Title
      <li><a href="#">Link</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Link</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Link</a></li>
    </ul>
    <ul id="MenuBar2" class="MenuBarVertical">
      Title 1
      <li><a href="#">Link</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Link</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Link</a></li>
    </ul>
    <script>
    var MenuBar1 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar1", {imgRight:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
    var MenuBar2 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar2", {imgRight:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
    </script>
    I hope this helps.

  • SPRY Horizontal Submenu Appearing in Top Left in IE

    Hi -
    I've read through almost every post relating to SPRY
    Horizontal Submenu issues in IE - and have done a number of things
    - including upgrading to 1.6. However - nothing seems to work and
    I'm at wits end. Can someone please help? The page to reference is:
    www.bswiftdesign.com/millennium/claimants/index.html
    The drop down menu is under "Structured Settlements". I
    really appreciate anyones help!

    Hi bswiftdesign,
    It looks like you are trying to center menu items in the
    menubar and submenus. Have you seen these samples?
