Spry horizontal submenu does not hide in IE

My spry horizontal submenus stay displayed in IE. What should
I do.
I am using vista with DW cs3.
James

Without seeing what has been changed it is hard to say. One
suggestion I can make without seeing the code is to make sure your
Spry is up-to-date. To find out your current Spry version, look at
the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css file in the SpryAssets folder. At the
top it will say "SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css - version 0.# - Spry
Pre-Release 1.#.#"
If you are not running version 0.6; Pre-release 1.6.1 then
you are not using the latest version. If this is the case head to
the site below which is the official Spry website. There you will
find a link to the official Spry forums as well as the Spry updater
package. Inside this package is a bunch of samples, demos and an
Extension. Install the extension and then re-start DW. Once
restarted, under the Sites menu you will see a new option to Update
Spry. Click on this and your Spry will be updated to the latest
version.
If you are still having issues after doing this you will need
to post either a link to your page or the code from your page so we
can see what you have modified to the Spry script.

  • Spry Horizontal Submenu IE bug

    The Spry Horizontal submenu bar does not display correctly in
    Internet Explorer. Everything appears to be working correctly in
    Firefox.
    The Submenu on the navigation bar keep dropping down from the
    top of the browser window instead from it's corresponding parent
    menu bar.
    I've updated my Spry files to the latest versions, from
    Adobe's site. Since the submenu works correctly in Firefox, it
    makes me think this is a bug correction, not something wrong with
    the css.
    Do you have any suggestions on how to correct this? I've seen
    this question asked alot on other Dreamweaver forums.
    Thank you!!!!!!!!

    ***SOLVED***
    Hi There,
    Cheers for replying. I took a look and the labs one seemed to
    work correctly. From here, under the CSS Styles tab I selected the
    SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css group and deleted them all. I then
    cleaned out my code of the references to the menu and reinsterted
    the menu (I had this problem before updating to Version 1.6.1 from
    1.4).
    From my own error here I would suggest justice49 deletes the
    menu completely (backup first) and reinserts his/her menu. from
    here, each time a change is made, preview the menu to make sure the
    change doesn't break the menu. this worked for me. Also check that
    your spry menu is at V1.6.1. There is a forum entry about updating
    if necessary:
    UPDATING
    SPRY
    Hope this helps.

  • Spry tool tip does not work in template or child pages within an editable region. Why not?

    Ok. so I am getting pretty frustrated. I take the time to learn how to use CSS and to create a template page for a Contractor Site (www.ContractorInsurance.net). The idea is to create a page that I can use for different classes of Contractors...right?
    Then I get all happy about being able to insert ToolTip onto pages to help the user. Great!
    LIfe to turn to Sorrow after nearly five hours of searching for a "eeking" answer.
    So what good does it do to have an Editable region to update if we cannot have the flexibility to insert a tool tip on child pages?  Ok so the fast solution is to what... Have a question mark image, insert another apDiv, name it toolTip_Not and provide it with a show=hide behavior?
    RRRRRrrr...
    This really sucks not being able to find a solution within a reasonable amount of time.

    I have tried thank you. However...it is still not working.

    If you have a look at the following simple document with a tooltipTooltip trigger goes here.
    Tooltip content goes here.
    you will notice that a couple of lines have been placed in the HEAD section of the document. When using DW templates, the HEAD section is usually not editable, hence the error mesaage. By default, your template should have an editable region in it just before the closing tag. It looks like this: <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" > <! TemplateEndEditable --> Dreamweaver should be able to find that editable region and insert the
    <script> tag there automatically. Because you don't have an editable region like that in the <head>, open the master template, and paste the code above just before the closing </head>
    tag. Gramps

  • Global Navigation dropdown does not hide on mouseout

    Hi,
    We have a issue in our SharePoint 2010 Site, where the global navigation menu and sub menu does not hide when we move the mouse away. Correct functionality is that on mousehover at top menu, the sub menu should appear and on mouseout, the sub menu should
    hide.
    But in our case, they do not hide on mouseout, they will hide only when we scroll the mouse. Moreover, the other elements on the page start appearing above the submenus (when we mousehover over the other elements). Please see below:
    Top menu1 Top menu2 Top menu3
    (on mousehover)
        |
    menuitem1
    menuitem2 -> submenu item1
                          submenu(other element on page) item2
    The above menu and submenu should hide on mouseout but it doesn't and instead the "other element on page" start coming over the sub menu or menu items.
    Hope the problem is understood.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Thanks for the reply,
    but we are stuck in selection of dynamic dropdowns, can you please let me know how to select and apply zIndex property to all the dynamic dropdowns in global navigation.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar not working in IE

    Hi! I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver. I recently used Dreamweaver to build a website to display my digital portfolio. I am not very good at this and don't understand much of this works. I inserted a spry horizontal menu bar for my navigation. I did change the original set up to have the background the colors I wanted and I also changed the size so it would go across the top of my page. This looks fine in Firefox and Safari but in Internet Explorer the bar displays vertically, which does not look good. Can anyone look at my code and tell me how I can fix this problem?
    I appreciate any help I can get with this as I have tried everything I know.

  • Spry horizontal menu's not displaying right in IE9

    Presently I'm using Dreamweaver CS4.  I have built a web site and placed a horizontal spry menu at the top of the web page.  It is situated on the page just below a smaller  non-spry horizontal menu.    In IE9, the menu appears above and to the right of this smaller menu rather than in the location I want it to appear.  What's more, in Dreamweaver the menu seems to float the upper right of the screen (I've attached a screen shot).   When I review the web site in IE 7, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari, the menu is correctly placed.
    Can anyone help solve this issue?  When I view the web page in IE9 and put it into IE7 mode, all is well.  Not so in IE9 (or IE8 for that matter).
    I'd appreciate direct email as well as answering it here to help others with my quandry.  My direct email address:   [email protected].
    Thank you!
    This image shows you where the menu appears in Dreamweaver AND in IE9
    This image shows you where the menu correctly displays in IE 7 (standard mode), Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Safari.
    The smaller navigation you see "Subscribe to Alerts" etc is controlled by the following code:

    I'm not sure where you attached files (I have not seen a way to do that in the Forum), But I will try to speak generally and work with what you have posted.
    My suspicion is that the negative top margin you have applied is messing things up a bit.
    I also note that it is usually better to apply margins to a CONTAINER of an unordered list (which is what menus are made of), than to apply the margins to the ul itself. So, restore the margin: 0; to the ul.MenuBarHorizontal style selector and create an enclosing element that bears the margin:-45px 0px 0px 200px; though I would still reconsider the use of negative top margin.
    It is entirely possible that this simple change will help.
    Please post the HTML for the top of the <body> section, including the menu code.

  • Spry Horizontal drop downs not working in Chrome or FF

    Hi,
    I used the Spry Horizontal Drop downs, and they work fine locally and in IE, but not in Chrome or FF, you can't see the drop down sub menus. I'm using DW cs3, updated spry 1.6.1
    Here is a link to the site
    http://youcanseeithere.com/spa4/index.html
    thanks so much, any help would be greatly appreciated

    This is where your problem lies
    #header {width:100%; overflow:hidden;}
    The best way out of this is to make logo.png a background image

  • Spry Image Slideshow does not work in Explorer

    My spry image slideshow works fine in Safari and Firefox, but does not work in Explorer.
    A small box shows up in IE 8, and absolutely nothing shows up in IE 7.

    Any Suggestions?

    How did you get your slideshow to play in Internet Explorer? I'm using the same slideshow on my new website and it plays fine in everything but IE versions. Here's a test page I'm working on... http://4034.sandbox.i3dthemes.net/oceankayakbanzai.html
    I looked at the code for your page and didn't notice anything different on mine. But yours works... Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

  • Spry Tabbed Panels does not work as I want

    Sorry, but this is an utter NOOB question.
    I tried to use a Gooey ment on my page, but it does not work as intended.
    Here it works OK: http://ppbm5.com/DB-PPBM5-2.php
    Here it does not work: http://ppbm6.com/Planning.html
    I assume it is related to the menu already on this page. Anyway, since this did not work, I tried to replace the Gooey menu with Spry Tabbed panels, but being an utter noob in this area, I have made some mistakes that the experts here can probably help solve easily. What happens:
    It looks OK in DW:
    Go to Live View and it still looks OK:
    but then go to the actual page and it looks like this:
    Why do the tabbed panels not display at the top of the page next to the vertical menu, like it does in DW?
    Second question: How can I add text to each page/ tabbed panel, like here http://ppbm6.com/Planning.html

    Spry Tabbed Panels 2.0 have a number of support files to make them run.
    <!--files for Spry Tabbed panels-->
    <script type='text/javascript' src='../Spry-UI-1.7/includes/SpryTabbedPanels2.js'></script>
    <script type='text/javascript' src='../Spry-UI-1.7/includes/plugins/TabbedPanels2/SpryFadingPanelsPlugin.js'></script>
    <script type='text/javascript' src='../Spry-UI-1.7/includes/plugins/TabbedPanels2/SpryTabbedPanelsKeyNavigationPlugin.js'></script>
    <link type='text/css' href='../Spry-UI-1.7/css/TabbedPanels2/SpryTabbedPanels2.css' rel='stylesheet'/>
    Below, I have a Spry demo page with 3 widgets on it.  If you look at the source code, you'll see how the the various support files are organized.
    Function code is near the bottom of the page.

    Second question: How can I add text to each page/ tabbed panel, like here http://ppbm6.com/Planning.html
    Turn off CSS.  View > Style Rendering > un-tick Display Styles.  You'll see an unstyled HTML page in Design View.  But this won't effect styles in Live View or Preview.

  • Result row does not hide value

    Hi all,
    I have some calculated key figures that are using formula variables to get dates to do calculations on.
    Since summing up date values does not lead to anything meaningful, I selected the 'Hide' value in the 'Calculate results as...' section.
    However, the results row is still showing an 'X' in this column when I run the query.
    I have one calculated key figure for a date using this same method (formula variable from an infoobject) and the result row is hidden correctly.
    Does anyone have any idea on why the result row would still display even though it supposed to be hidden?
    Thanks in advance.

    result rows needs need to be suppressed for characteristic properties.
    in query designer , click on characteristics in your reports ( i.e  rows ) goto display property supress the result rows..

  • Spry Menu Bar does not show up in Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7

    I been building a spry horizontal menubar in Dreamweaver.
    Everything was working well in both Firefox and IE. Then it
    disappear in Firefox. The menubar appears in
    www.brycelevancushing.com
    Bryce leVan Cushing Web
    site
    Could someone help solve this mystery?

    Many many moons ago, a work-experience student, decided to play a trick on me. Knowing that I often used MS Excel, he decided to change the default text colour to white. On a white background, the information that I tried to enter into the spreadsheet did not show up, making me think that I had a virus or worse on my computer.
    Have a look at the following exerpt from your SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css
    /* HACK FOR IE: to stabilize appearance of menu items; the slash in float is to keep IE 5.0 from parsing */
    @media screen, projection
        ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE
        display: none;
        background: #FFF;
        left: 0px;
        text-decoration: none;
        width: auto;
        padding: 0px;
        z-index: 1010;
    Good luck,
    Gramps
