Spry Menue is shown different in firefox

Hello friends of Dreamweaver,
I made the usual SpryMenue in DW CS3. I used the horizontal
style. In Internetexplorer it's shown exactly as I want. But in
Firefox all elements are vertical shown not horizontal. What can I
do that Firefox shows the elements exactly in the same way like IE.
Perhaps an exeption for firefox browser in css code?
Here is the example. It's the menue bar in the top of page.

FWIW, Firefox is showing the menu the way the menu was
designed to show, the the sub-menus in the Spry Horizontal menu are
supposed to show up stacked vertically. Offhand I'm not sure why IE
is showing things the way it is, perhaps it has to do with the size
of the frame you have the menu in, or perhaps it's some other IE
issue, but I've not worked with the menus enough to know what
potential areas trouble could be lurking.
I'd suggest asking in the Spry forums and maybe someone there
can suggest a way to make Firefox show the sub-menus horizontally:

  • Horizontal spry menu floats around differently in FF and IE

    Hi there !!
    I would like to ask you about the following:
    When I use a horizontal spry menu and have it adjusted for FireFox, I get a result I can live with.
    Except that the submenu's under the heading 'cultuur' and 'projekt' do not slide down altogether, but are horizontal as well...
    How can I fix it so that they are positioned under its 'parent' ??
    But that's my minor question, actually...
    When I open my site in Internet Explorer (7 & 8) the spry menu looks different; it is far more stretched. First it also floated left, but I managed to fix that. The major problem is that the submenu's appear on the left of the page. I can't get them under their respective parents at all.
    Can you please help me with that?
    My site:
    www.mnette.nl
    (if you need more info, I'm glad to provide it )

    When I use the original SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css, your page behaves extremely well. I realise that you wish to customise the menu to suit your site, but these modifications are to be made under strict rules so that the cross browser functionality is not compromised.
    Have a look at the following 10 commandments http://dwcourse.com/dreamweaver/ten-commandments-spry-menubars.php#one
    May I suggest that you ressurrect the original style sheet and work your way from there making sure that you keep to the above commandments.
    If you still have problems, please come back here for further assistance.

  • Spry Menu not dropping down in Firefox and Chrome

    Hi -
    I am not a professional and having difficulty.  I have inserted a spry menu bar in CS5 and it looks fine in IE, but doesn't drop down (can see a little bit) in firefox and chrome.
    I read a bunch and tried a fix to make the overflow visible, that fixed the problem but my formatting of locations of other areas went wild.
    The site is:  http://www.tucsonrealpros.com
    .....any help is much appreciated...been pulling hair out

    Hi,
    I have tried the site and can see the drop down for Home search, Buyers.
    Can you try to update the chrome and firefox.

  • Spry menu how to different hover background for submenu options??

    Hi
    CS4 dreamweaver, Spry menu.
    I am trying to design a spry horizontal menu such that the main menu bar boxes accross the top all share a background image and a hover image.
    I would like all the boxes in the dropdown area to share a diferent background and hover image.
    My problem is in the hover styles. In particular, when the main menu bar accross the top has an option that is not a submenu.
    The target css rule is "ul.MenuBarHorizontal a:hover" and is used for any link that resides on the menu bar as well as for links that reside in the dropdown area. I wish to distinguish (via background image, and background hover image) the two types of buttons.
    The other challenge is that my menu is dynamic and is using a spry dataset to drive it.
    I guess i need a  "ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li a:hover" or something like that.
    I hope that i am explaining myself.
    Anyone run into this?
    Thanks
    Jerry C

    Hi - I just read
    The other challenge is that my menu is dynamic and is using a spry dataset to drive it.
    Some time back I did the same for a number of websites - and then realised that search engines dont read the data. ie - the links and they could not be followed since they needed to be generated on the fly in the browser.. So as a result, Google was not going thru my nav menu links.
    I then changed to another method (PHP / MySql) for my dynamic menus.
    My menu system has some extra CSS to style the subnavs and the currently selected page.
    Just my 2bobs worth. Hope it is of some use..

  • Customizing Spry Menu - Drop items different from tabs at the top

    How can I remove the background image from the dropped down items on a Horizontal Spry Menu while keeping the image for the tabs at the top? It seems every time I change something for the top tabs, the change is carried to the drop down menus as well.
    Here is a link:
    http://www.monicagraphicdesign.com/Bill/spiritual.html
    You can see what is happening if you hover over "About Bill"

    Open your SpryMenu.css file.  Scroll down a ways to this:
    /* Submenu that is showing with class designation MenuBarSubmenuVisible, we set left to auto so it comes onto the screen below its parent menu item */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul.MenuBarSubmenuVisible
        left: auto;
        background-color: #000;
        background-image: none;
    /* Menu item containers are same fixed width as parent */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li
        background:none;
        width: 8.2em;

  • Spry Menu and Pointer Changing in FireFox

    I've created a Spry Rollover Menu in Dreamweaver CS3 and have
    noticed the pointer switches to text insert when rolling over the
    menu in FireFox 2.0.0.8. Does anyone know of a fix?

    Can you post a link to the page? This happens when a
    triggering event has
    been applied directly to the <img> tag, rather than to
    an <a> tag that wraps
    the <img> tag, so we would need to see the code to
    advise you.

  • My Spry Menu bar is different in design view and when I preview in Browser.

    When in design view my Spry Meny Bar is horizontal like I chose.  But when I preview it in browser it appears as just type verically down the side of the screen.  With no boxes around it.  Please help.

    Did you define a local site folder in DW before you began your project?

  • Spry menu bar not working in firefox; working in safari

    this seems to be a common problem, but i cant find a solution that works for me.
    here is the link (it's the parts that say "description" with the arrow to the right):
    http://www.coryharrisonsmith.com/video.html
    any ideas?
    thanks

    If the browser window has a size of 1280X1024, then logically speaking, a top margin of -2750% will place my element 35200px above where it would have been if there were no top margin and with a left margin of 410% it will place my element 4198px to the right of where it would have been if no margin had been applied.
    Unless the screen has a minimum size of 35200px X 4198px, you will not be able to see the element.
    I do not have Safari; but I do have DW, IE7-9, FF and Chrome, and believe me, they all give the same result.

  • Spry menu works in Firefox and Safari, but not Internet Explorer

    I designed my school website in CS4 and  CS5.  The left spry menu bar appears correctly in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer the gray background and buttons do not appear.  You can only see the text and when you scroll over the text, it disappears even though when you click on it, the link does appear.  The website is http://ml.chinookschools.org.  I created the site on a mac and I am hosting it on a mac mini server on my network at school.  I am a beginner with Dreamweaver and I'm not sure if someone can help me with this, but I would sure be appreciative for any help offered. You are not using the latest Spry files
    The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
    Then, if you have a look near the bottom of SpryMenuBarVertical.css you will see that the white background colour has been specified for IE as in
    @media screen, projection
        ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
        display: inline;
        f\loat: left;
        background: #FFF;
    Change the value to #CCC and it will have fixed that part of the problem.
    When you upgrade to the later version of Spry, make sure to keep a copy of the CSS file as a reference to modifying the new CSS file.

    The easiest way is to use pseudo elements.
    To style the first and last menu items ifferently to the rest, merely add :first-child and :last-child respectivly as follows
    <!DOCTYPE HTML>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>

    ul.MenuBarVertical li:last-child a {
        background-color: green;
        color: yellow;
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarVertical">
      <li><a href="#">Item 1</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Item 2</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Item 3</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Item 4</a></li>
      <li><a href="#">Item 5</a></li>
    </ul>
    <script type="text/javascript">

    </script>
    </body>

    In your case, in liue of the background colour, you would have an image.

  • Spry Menu Bar white-out in IE

    I am brand new to web design and Dreamweaver and I cannot figure out why my Spry Menu Bar, though perfect in Firefox and Chrome, is behaving so strangely in Internet Explorer.  I have the background color set as transparent, but in IE, the entire bar appears with a white background.
    Here's the url, uploaded onto our test site: http://www.test.partnersoft.org/partner_test/partnersoft.com/
    My apologies for not including any code; I don't know what to put up that will help you.  I have no clue if this is a CSS problem or what.
    Thanks so much, apologies for my ignorance.

    Supplying an online URL is all we need.
    Add the following style rule to your document
    <style>

  • Making a spry menu work in browsers other than IE

    I am having a hard time getting any vertical spry menu bar work in Safari, FireFox, etc.  They work fine in Internet Explorer.  Any ideas?
    Here's an example:  http://midlochorus.org/

    Thanks, Beth.
    Like many others, I learned web design using tables and am trying to learn CSS.  I am working on changing the positioning to relative, but now the page is all wonky.  The left and top numbers are the same, but the nav bar is all over the place.
    For what it's worth, I opened a new file and inserted a dummy vertical spry bar by itself with NO CSS... just at the top of the page, and I'm having the same problem.  The menu will not expand in FF.  I'll attach the document, and you can take a look.
    As far as the flash issue is concerned, I had read about that problem.  Fortunately, the only menu item that I wish to expand is not anywhere close to the fash object, so I'm hoping it won't be a problem in this case.
    Thanks so much for your willingness to help!

  • Spry menu bar error in firefox....driving me nuts!

    First of all, thank you in advance for all your help. I have a problem that I can't fix and it is driving me insane.
    I have vertical spry menu bar that shows a scroll bar on mouse over in firefox. Here's what driving me insane. A buddy of mine came to me with this problem on his website http://www.fransky.com a while back and I fixed it. But I can't remember what I did. Now he has a new domain and moved the site to the new location http://www.franskyselfdefense.com The old one is still up and running and works fine in firefox. The new one has the srcoll bar over the buttons on mouse over again in firefox. SpryAssets are the same. Identical pages uploaded to either website will work on the old site - and will not work on the new location. I can't find a major difference in the uploaded folders. I thought it must be a site wide configuration but I can not find anything.
    It is getting to me guys, can you please help. I tried everything I could think of and I can't, for the life of me, remember what I did the last time. I know that the site has a lot of trash in the code. Was my buddies first shot and he changed and deleted a lot in the process and there is a lot of resedue in the code. We will start over in time, now that he knows what he wants, but I need to get this working for him. It's his source of income and I don't think I have enough space for him and his family as new roommates :-)
    I fixed it before and I am not that smart, obviously or I would remember.
    Any idea?
    Thanks again,
    Max

    One more thing that I forgot. We moved the online store to the new location. The better link for the comparison is http://www.fransky.com/shop.html because it has all the sub items too and is just an older version of the http://www.franskyselfdefense.com/index.html with a little bit different content, but no major changes in the menu bar.
    I uploaded the new index up to fransky.com as http://www.fransky.com/index75 as comparison and you can see that it works just fine there.
