Spry Navigation Bars - Make them look GOOD

Have Dreamweaver CS4 PC
Using the plain gray spry navigation bars...im somewhat
new...
Question:
Is there any company that sells or Free to "Change the Look"
of the nav bars easily?
I might w ant to change colors, make rounded edges, make type
smaller, compact specing some, adjust the length.
Does someone have a plugin or extension that works
interactively??
Thanks
Ive searched with little results on customizing spry

A more full-featured menu building tool, with lots of styles:

Another nice menu builder, with lots of styles. Because there
are no timers,
I would recommend these for single-level menus or for menus
with a single
sub-menu level:

Neither is free.

  • FileSystemTree and "ordinary" Tree - make them look the same?

    Hi,
    I wondered if anyone's worked with Adobe AIR's FileSystemTree and the "ordinary" Tree in Adobe Flex, making them look the same? If so, can you give me some hints on how to make them look the same when it comes to icons, disclosure icons, branches, leafs etc.?
    The reason I'm asking is this:
    Some time ago I decided it'd be nice to build a sort of FTP Client with Adobe AIR. The client would, among other things, have a tree for local folders and a tree for remote folders. It seemed ideal to use the FileSystemTree for the tree containing local folders. The tree with remote folders is built using the "ordinary" Tree with data supplied via a Microsoft .NET Web Service. However, once I started down this road I soon realized the two controls don't look and behave the same (even though FileSystemTree apparently derives from Tree).
    Some examples:
    - Tree seems to use easing when opening a folder. FileSystemTree just "opens it".
    - FileSystemTree displays a disclosure arrow icon regardless of whether or not a directory has children. Haven't got the Tree to display the same icon when a remote directory is empty.
    Any help would be appreciated! I'd also like to point out that I'm quite new to both AIR and Flex so maybe the problems I see are actually easy to solve.

    There is no bookmarks tab, expect you are referring to the bookmarks menu on the menu bar ("File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help") on your XP system.
    Once your restore your menus on you Window 7 system, you can get rid of the bookmarks button. After going through the 10 steps below your toolbars on your Windows 7 system will be more usable again and like your XP system, none of which has anything to do with Sync.
    You can make '''Firefox 6.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Spry Navigation Bar

    I'm new to dreamweaver CS5 and have created a new spry navigation bar.  Is there a way to create one generic navigation bar to be used in several different pages so when I have to update the menus, I don't have to change each spry navigation bar for each page.  Basically one main navigation bar to be used in several different pages w/out having to create a nav bar for each page.

  • Spry navigation bar covers flash movie beneath it but not the jpg image, why?

    i have a spry navigation bar with a flash movie underneath,
    and when i hover over the navbar and the submenu pops down it
    covers the flash movie, but it doesn't cover the .jpg image that is
    next to the flash movie. how can i fix this? thanks.

    thanks for the reply Murray, a responder from the flash forum
    gave me the following answer and it worked perfect.>>
    The <object> and/or <embed> HTML elements that
    reference your Flash content accept a number of optional
    parameters. For the <object> element, these parameters are
    supplied via nested <param> elements. Simply add the
    following new <param>:
    <param name="wmode" value="opaque">
    The <embed> parameters are supplied via attributes. For
    the <embed> element, add the following new attribute:
    wmode="opaque"
    That’s it. Your Flash content is now stackable via
    z-index; for example, you may wrap your
    <object>/<embed> pair in a <div> and set the
    <div>’s z-index as you please.
    <div style="position: absolute; z-index=1;">
    <object attributes >
    <embed attributes />
    </object>
    </div>
    If you’re using Dreamweaver, just press the Parameters
    button in the Insert > Media > Flash dialog or in the
    Property inspector when selecting existing Flash content. Type
    “wmode” (without quotes) in the name/parameter column
    and “opaque” (without quotes) in the value column. That
    will handle the above HTML for you, even with the new JavaScript
    embedding available since the 8.0.2 update.

  • Elance for mac stuff? convert XLS - Numbers and make it look good

    I often use elance.com for small projects. I have a project to convert some XLS sheets to Numbers. One of the main purposes is to make it look better, so I need a consulant who not only knows how to use numbers but understands design.
    is there a group like elance but more mac focused...in order to get bids? or a few groups i should look at for small projects like this?
    Also, as an aside, has anyone made a plug in for Excel so it can import numbers and actually work like numbers (ie, i know i can covert numbers to excel, but i really wish numbers was also available on the PC, barring that at least some plug in or somthing close?)

    There is no Excel plugin available to decipher Numbers documents.
    Given the past behaviour of M…Soft, I would be surprised if they offer one some day.
    Apple always made a serious work to allow its customers to import/export M…Soft created files but there was no effort of this kind in the other world.
    I would be surprised too if a Window version of Numbers was delivered one day.
    Apple development resources aren't large enough to allow them to waste these resources on such a project.
    At this time, it seems that they have some difficulties to maintain the two versions (mac and iPad) of iWork applications so, it would be very bad news for users of these products if they move some engineers on such a new task.

  • Spry Menu Bars - making them fit across a page properly

    Hi,
    I've been making a website for my work, check it out at www.bto-ltd.co.nz and I'm struggling with the spry menu bar. I want it to fit across the page on one line, and so I've pretty much managed to do that in some browsers. In Google Chrome, it looks perfect. However, in some browsers, (IE and others) one of the buttons wraps down to the next line. How do I fix that?
    Also, depending on which browser is used, the sub menus are either vertical or horizontal. I'd rather they were vertical, can I fix it to this?
    Thanks.

    It does that because you are trying to make a bigger element fit into a smaller element,so you need to go into the
    SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css
    And reducing your font. change it from 100% to lets say1em, if that still overflows, notch down to .9em

  • Spry Navigation Bar going wrong way in IE

    I have horizontal navigation bar through spry in Dreamweaver. In all other web browsers, my first level of drop down menus go directly down from the main menu items. In IE they go directly right! Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem and quickly. My final presentation is Tuesday. I am new to all this and I don't have the foggiest how to fix it! Thanks in advance for any and all assistance with this matter!!!!!!

    It would be a lot easier to answer your question if you had a link to your site or at the very laest showed your markup.
    I assume that you have made the menu item widths as being auto rather than a fixed width in which case IE will use the full width available to show the submenu items.
    To counteract this you need the following style rules
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li {
        display: block;
        float: none !important;
        width: auto;
        white-space: nowrap;
        border-bottom: solid 1px #EEE;
    The !important overrides the style rule that is given the element by the JS.

  • Centering a Horizontal CSS only, jQuery, or Spry navigation bar within a Div

    Hello all.  I need a solution for centering a horizontal style nav bar whether it be css only, jQuery or Spry based.  I've been trying to use widgets from the adobe widget browser or other ones I've been able to find online.  I have been able to get the graphic that goes behind the links to span the entire width of the Div, but I can't move the actual links to the center of the screen and get it to stay in the middle like the rest of the elements do when you resize the page.  The links always stay anchored to the left side of the page.  I've been able to move them all the way to the right side of the page through a certain css change, but that is not what I'm looking for.  Do I need to resize the Div, or add a div within the div?  Do I need to split the horizontal width of the single div into three div's and put the nav bar into the middle one?  If that is the solution, how do I add the div's next to each other, I tried  adding a div within the div, but nothing really appears to show up, so that must essentially be a wrong way of going about it.
    Well anyways, I need some advice, somebody please lead me in the right direction on how to get this right.  In the div above the one I'm trying to make this happen in, I have a flash object and it just centers itself perfectly with the div and moves with the rest of the page fluidly when you resize.  And the same goes for a div right above that which contains the company logo.
    Thanks for help in advance.

    This is what I mean by the dotted lines not lining up evenly at the ends.

  • LR3 destroys my RAW files. Impossible to make them look normal.

    Hi!
    Problem: Lightroom 3 and Adobe Camera RAW make my RAW files look very weird. No import preset is beign applied. Pictures look far too contrasted, saturated and with a yellow tint.
    Before you answer: I have read a looot about this subject. I know RAW files cannot be actually destroyed and that LR3 isn´t doing anything to them. It just shows me  how he thinks the picture looks. Ok, I can live with that. It doesn´t have to look just like my JPGs, but I expect at least a similarity, not this horrendous thing. My point is that LR3 is WAY OFF and, apparently, this is not usual.
    I use LR3 on a Windows 7 machine. This are Canon RAW files from my T2i.
    I have Adobe Camera RAW 6.3 installed (latest version).
    I dont apply any importing presets to my files
    I tried changing Camera Profiles, but the tweaks are minor and don´t fix the issue.
    Other software renders my RAW files perfectly: Photo Mechanic, Fast Stone and Canon DPP.
    English is not my first language, so please excuse my grammatical errors.
    EXAMPLE:
    Both picture were taken using the same settings. I shooted in manual mode. My flash was set to manual for consistency. White Balance was set to flash mode. The first two pictures haven´t been retouched. They are straight exports from LR3. The third picture is my retouched RAW files. That was the closest I could get to my JPG.
    I also tried changing my settings in the develop module to achieve  something similar to my JPGs, but I cannot get rid of the contrast and  washed out colors.
    Bigger Size: http://i55.tinypic.com/2januyo.jpg
    The only solution I have found is to make my White Balance adjustments on Canon DPP, and then save my RAW files to JPG. Only then will I use LR3 to preocess them. As you can see, i would like to skip Canon DPP, so if you could help make LR3 and ACR interpret my RAW files decently, I would thank you A LOT.

    It is unfortunate that the RawRants writer doesn't provide links to the CR2 files so others might try converting them.
    Yeah, it would have been more interesting if there was an opportunity for others to show what they could do with those raws... oh well.

    I suspect the white-balance didn't work on the very first example photo-pair because the cloud area was clipped and LR doesn't allow WB-eyedroppering at a 100% area.  The solution is to click on a non-clipped area...
    Good point.

    If you click on the on B/W flower thumbnail it leads to a gallery with main paired images, where the NX versions of his poppies seem very oversaturated compared to the non-NX version.  Apparently he prefers the oversaturation.  Maybe his monitor is very dull.
    NX2 really does tend to render very saturated yellows, especially the lighter tones. Most often I prefer Lightrooms subtler handling, but not always.
    PS - I've found with enough fiddling, I can get Lightroom processed photos to look almost exactly the same as NX2 processed photos, and vice versa - really is the person behind the keyboard that is the biggest factor determining the final result.
    On the other hand, how much fiddling you have to do in one vs. the other to get the results you want is pretty much what its all about... Blah, blah, blah...

  • I'm running the same version of Firefox on one computer in Windows 7 and on another computer in Windows XP. How can I make them look the same? Bookmarks is a button on the right in W7 and a tab at the top left in XP.

    I am already running Sync for bookmarks, but I don't understand how to make Firefox have the same format at the top of the screen. I don't want to Sync tabs, so I haven't tried that option.

There is a lot more beyond those first 10 steps listed, if you want to make Firefox more functional.
    Before and after customizations, the following also includes [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4styles styling changes] besides rearranging toolbars and toolbar items.

  • I know how to make firefox 12's tabs go to the bottom, but even so they still dont look exactly as they did in 3.6, how do I make them look exactly the same?

    Considering a few websites stopped working for me seeing as I was still using 3.6.X, I reluctantly decided to finally upgrade today, and it automatically upgraded to version 12. Needless to say, I wanted it to look exactly as it did in 3.6.26, and I spent a good portion of the day tinkering with various add-ons and the like to get things back the way they were. One thing is still bugging me though, the tabs, which I managed to get to the bottom of the screen, still dont look exactly as they did. There used to be a small dividing line between the tabs and the actual page, and the + on the new tab button was smaller (and I know this all seems rather picky, but it does bother me). And while I'm at it, is there any add-on that will give me the same back/forward, X, refresh, and home icons as 3.6.26? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Try this extension for the button:

    It should be possible to get the needed modifications.
    You can check out this MozillaZine forum thread and ask there for advice about how to tweak the user interface.

  • Why does the menu look grayed out? ("File, Edit, View, History" etc) It makes them look like they are not going to work. They don't turn black if I click on them either.

    Normally, at least in most Windows programs, and I think other OSes too, items that can be used are black, and items in gray are inactive so that they are not available. It's disconcerting to see the menu in gray, even though they work.

    Hi Melaniefromnorth saanich,
    Take a look at the Photos User Manual below.  Is it possible you were deleting photos from an album and not from your library?
    Delete photos and video - Photos Help
    https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/index.html#/pht3bfab2f96
    Delete photos and videos
    Do one of the following:
    Delete a photo from an album, but not from your library: Select the items you want to delete, then press Delete.
    Delete a photo from a moment (placing it in the Recently Deleted album): Select the items you want to delete, press Delete, then click Delete.
    Delete a photo from a moment or album (placing it in the Recently Deleted album): Select the items you want to delete, then press Command-Delete.
    Deleted photos and video aren’t immediately removed from your library; they’re placed in the Recently Deleted album, where they remain for the number of days shown, and then are deleted. You can recover the items before that period of time (see the next task). If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on, the photos may remain in iCloud up to 40 days and then are removed from all your devices that use iCloud Photo Library. If you’re not using iCloud Photo Library, your deleted photos are removed from your Mac only.
    Restore recently deleted items
    Deleted items remain in the Recently Deleted album for the number of days shown, and then are deleted permanently. You can view recently deleted items and restore them back into your Photos library.
    Choose File > Show Recently Deleted.
    Select the photos you want to restore.
    Click Recover.
    To delete recently deleted items immediately, select the items, then click Delete.
    If you use Time Machine to back up your computer, you may be able to recover items after they are deleted permanently from your Mac or iCloud.
    For more information on using Time Machine, see Restore a Photos library from a Time Machine backup.
    Hope that helps,

  • I just switched to Firefox from IE. The fonts are a bit fuzzy, hard to read, in all applications, email, Facebook, websites, etc. Is there a way to make them look better?

    Not much more to explain. I'm having trouble with the way things display in Firefox, they appear rather fuzzy, unclear.

    Do you have Clear Type set on your system?

  • Cleaner Navigation with a second navigation bar

    Does anyone know if it is possible to create a second navigation section in a site and how? It will greatly help reduce clutter in the main navigation on the top of the page (Welcome, My Ablums, My Movies, ... 20 other items I plan to create). I need this specifically for a My Travels page or set of pages I would like to create. The way I envision it to work is similar to my current site. A user would click on the My Travels page which will navigate then to a page with a navigation section on the left side of the page that will list places I've been to as a navigation menu (France, Spain, Switz, Turks n C, St. Martin, Puerto Rico, Greece, etc...). They could then click on each place to get content specific to that place with pictures, etc ...
    I also didn't want to create 30 different pages (one for each place) and have to manually manange the sub navigation menu on each page. i.e. if I go to another place, I don't want to have to create a new page and have to change all of the other sites by adding a link to each navigation section ...

    It wouldn't look odd if you had the page containing the iframe having another appearance than the pages loading into the iframe. However this approach is good to link external sites but less to link your own site as the pages loading in the iframe wouldn't have any navigation bar on them. Thus if someone jumps in on one of those pages from google or whatever he wouldn't know there are other pages as well...
    I'm currently working on putting an iframe into each page which will load the menu so that you just have to change the one menu page to update the menu on the whole site instead of changing it on each page, that makes my life easier... Until now I just copied and paste it to all sites each time I changed the menu and that's really time consuming as the site is growing... That also solves the problem of embedding a page in a same looking page as the menu is only a little part of the whole page and you can make it look as it were part of the page...
    However in your case I would just make a "Travelling page" (Travelling comes up in the main menu) and on that page make make an index of all your trips (which will not appear as single pages in the main menu, Inspector PageTab, uncheck Include page in navigation menu). So when you click on Travelling page you get the list of:
    Italy
    Switzerland
    Alaska
    or whatever
    click on one of those links and you get that page, to get to another destination when looking at Italy just hit Travelling in the Main menu (nav bar) and again you're on the index site and choose another destination.
    Thus you only have to change that index page.
    Example:
    http://alyeska.altervista.org/en/Journeys.html
    hit Iceland get to the Iceland page
    hit journeys in the nav bar
    choose other destination (not many active sorry, I'm too busy on other stuff...)
    I really do think it's the easiest way...

    Cédric
