Spry properties on Mac 10.5.3

Not sure if it is me or Dreamweaver but when using
Dreamweaver on Mac 10.5.3 and adding a spry validation I do not get
the attributes in the propetiers panel so I can control the var.
And in split view there is now box for the spry field like there is
on Windows. Is this just a function not available on Mac? Is there
something I did not set up right on my Mac version?

there is a slight chance that it's a config on the pc's that are common, as odd as it sounds.   Try the apple broadband tuner and let me know if it helps.  there was a recent problem like this for a couple mac users

  • How to use spry on DreamWeaver Mac?

    ive been searching the web on how to use spry on the mac but i am unable to use it for some reason. HELP?!

    Hello,
    I quote from different contributions of the forum:
    "Spry has been deprecated and is no longer officially supported by Adobe", “Adobe abandoned Spry late last year after CS6 came out. Future products will probably not contain any Spry so learning to use jQuery is a valuable skill to have for the future.” “The news was released in August last year:

    You may want to take a look at it. I'd recommend you switch to a jQuery library for your further requirements.

    Issue: Mac Safari doesn't like the spry menu bar. The sub

    In IE7 Vista, my CPU is pegged at 22%. I do not run flash in
    Firefox because
    of its rendering engine issues, so that might be an issue
    there. Safari has
    known issues rendering CSS hovers on top of flash. The
    workaround is to
    remove hovers or live with it.

  • Spry widget editting HELP!

    I am a new user of DW CS4, and have a "simple" question.
    I am creating a page with some Spry Validation widgets to
    collect some user information (Name, Phone, Email Address, etc. -
    nothing very complex).
    When I create the widgets, and fill out the Properties
    Inspector fields, everything looks to be OK - meaning that when I
    mouse-over the fields in DW, I see the blue SPRY tab like I expect.
    But, if I close the page (after saving), and re-open the
    page, I do not see the blue tab, nor do I see the SPRY Properties
    Inspector. It looks like a normal text Properties Inspector.
    Is there a configuration setting I am missing in DW?
    Do I need to attach a specific .css?
    Thanks for your help.

    You can start here for your spry menu.
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Spry/SDG/index.html
    You can also use a background image in the container that you have your SM in. You can use in in conjuction with, or in place of images for the menu.
    For the gallery, I would look at third party products.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Linking Using Spry Menu Bars

    Hello,
    Please forgive my noobieness. I used to use Adobe GoLive and
    am now transitioning to Dreamweaver.
    I have the layout of the website I want using a template
    provided by DW with a fixed main content area, header and a footer.
    The banner and the horizontal menu bar are at the top. The content
    would be displayed below as each button from the menu bar is
    clicked. I have followed the directions in the Missing Manual
    series but I still seem to have problems.
    1. For example. For a button listing Directions. I have it
    set to link to the proper .html file called Directions.html. This
    was set using the Spry Properties. Same for Home and a pricing
    menu. However when I run it using Firefox it opens a new tab and
    displays the chosen content there rather than in the existing page
    where the menu bar is located. In IE I cannot even get the page to
    jump to any place else. I dont here the clicking noise or even some
    kind of recognition that is trying to load the chosen page.
    I see a list for target but those have no effect.
    2. Secondly. In IE the menu bar drop down works really slow
    even when I view other peoples websites that were built using CS3.
    In Firefox it seems to work fine.
    Any suggestions would be great and appreciated. Attached is
    som code.

    Hi Peter,
    only to show you my impressions.
    1. FF:
    2. IE8:
    There is no "failing".?

  • How do I change Desktop folder properties?

    I recently purchased a macbook pro. I used migration assistant to transfer all files, from my g4, via firewire. Now, when I attempt to download from the internet, I get this error message: "Downloading/users/myname/Desktop/filename could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder. Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location". How do I change desktop folder properties?
    mac book pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Control-click or right-click anywhere on your desktop picture, and select Get Info from the contextual menu. Then expand the Ownership & Permissions section. You need to set the drop-down menus like this:
    You can: Read and Write
    Owner: <your username>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: Staff
    Access: No Access
    Others: No Access
    If that doesn't work, log in as an administrator, open Terminal, and enter these commands (assuming your username is "bigalive"; change appropriately:
    sudo chown bigalive:staff /Users/bigalive/Desktop
    sudo chmod 700 /Users/bigalive/Desktop
    That should fix it.

  • Previously well behaved printer now crashes the system.

    I have a  CC4400.  Until today it has been working fine.  Today when I switched the printer on it crashed my system.  I get a blue screen with a lot of technical data which tells me to restart my computer if this is the first time it has happened.  Now I am at the 10th or 11th time it has happened.  I uninstalled all software and reinstalled - fine until I turn the printer on, then it crashes again.  When I plug the printer into my spare computer directly there is no problem but it is not recognised through the network.  Any ideas?  I'm about ready to throw the printer out the window!!

    Hi,
    Unlike a PC, Mac SO X uses Apple's Bonjour to communicate with the device.
    In order the device will operate propertly on Mac your router have to support DNS Multicast which is the network protocol used by Bonjour, it can only be named as mDNS, Bonjour or IGMP Snooping.
    Some routers may not support Multicast or may have the protocol disabled by the router defautl configuration.
    I would suggest contadcting the router service provider and ensuring the router support those protocols and have the latest firmware installed.
    Hope that helps,
    Shlomi

    I get the Mac Address by this method
    function call(event) {
    var source = event.getSource();
    var obj = new ActiveXObject("WbemScripting.SWbemLocator");
         var s = obj.ConnectServer(".");
         var properties = s.ExecQuery("SELECT * FROM Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration");
         var e = new Enumerator (properties);
            var mac;
         while(!e.atEnd())
              e.moveNext();
              var p = e.item();
              if(!p) continue;
              if(p.Caption == "[00000008] Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection"){
                                        alert(p.MACAddress);
                                        mac=p.MACAddress;

    AdfCustomEvent.queue(source,"callServer",{sa:mac},false);

  • Spyr Menu Background Image

    Hello
    I'm building my first site in Dreamweaver (now CS6). It's been an education and one step forward/ one step back kind of thing.
    I have a good little spry menu that changes background colour from black to grey when I hover over the various page titles but I think it would look better if I had a gradient effect instead of a solid colour.
    So I thought I could do that by making a small image in Photoshop and adding that as a background to one of the Spry properties; is this possible? If so, which of the Spry property would I add the image to?
    Cheers,
    Ossie

    Depends on which of the Spry Menus you are using.
    Spry Menu 2.0 has greater latitude for customization than the Spry pre-release 1.6.1 had.
    Can you show us a link to your page?

    '''- Step Naught''' - Boot Windows XP Pro SP3, on q6600 / 4Gb PC with /3G. Run Mozilla 3.6.10 and open two or three tabs to typical page: Google, TechDirt, Firefox Support.
    '''- Step 1''' - Open a 4th tab, and load URL a containing a large jpg image. E.G., like one of the NASA .jpg files the from Hubble telescope page. Pick a hi-res image (> 72Kb). Often a large image triggers the zoom cursor to appear. This was my starting state.
    '''- Step B''' - Surf that tab (with the .jpg) to a completely new domain, say, mozilla.com.
    '''- Step III'' - Reload the previous page (with the .jpg). I don't recall here if I clicked the back button, or entered the page via its table of contents link.
    '''- Step Last:''' Right-click to get image properties (sorry Macies), choose Save Image As, name and Save the file as directed.
    '''- Result: ''' The image reloads via http: I sure would like the image to load from cache. Is this possible now? If so, what's the feature called? If it's not possible, this sounds like an easy optimization to make, albeit, low priority. What's the word?

    Jey, we just installed:
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2 (built Dec 2 2004)
    libimta.so 6.2 (built 00:34:23, Dec 2 2004)
    SunOS urano1 5.9 Generic_118558-09 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4
    And have the same problem with attached files: .doc,.xls,.ppt.
    We have configured:
    local.service.http.gzip.dynamic = 0
    And IE tries to open a new window but close it rapidly. While presing CTRL the window open correctly.
    The version installed previously did not have this problem:
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.1 HotFix 0.02 (built Aug 25 2004)
    libimta.so 6.1 HotFix 0.02 (built 17:03:42, Aug 25 2004)
    SunOS urano 5.9 Generic_118559-10 i86pc i386 i86pc
    Is there any parameter to change and correct this problem?
    Thanks

  • Ideal Web Movie Format

    Hi all,
    i am using Premiere pro cs3 on my iMac 2.0Ghz 20", and i have to put on my web site all the movies i make... so please advice me about the ideal format that has the following properties :
    1) Mac-Pc compatibility, so Both Mac and Pc users can easly view and download the movies...
    2) The minimum possible size,
    3) with the maximum possible quality
    Many thanks for any help

    I'd like to see a comparison of DivX bit rate to bit rate, resolution to resolution with other formats. We've had this discussion before and I remain unconvinced for its use in anything other than file sharing broadcast TV and movies. At that it's great, but I'd like to see a realistic comparison.
    Some questions that need an answer;
    * Are these files to be embedded in a player to be shown on the site, or are they for download for the audience to watch in a separate player?
    * What sort of connection do you envision your audience having? Are you creating content for broadband connections or dial-up connections?
    * What is the source material? Standard definition or high definition?
    * Do you know how to write basic HTML to embed a Flash SWF in a web page?
    I'd suggest a H.264 mp4 file in a flash swf, but that's not really basic stuff right now. It requires you to know what you're doing. Perhaps a H.264 for download and playback in the Quicktime player is your best bet as a beginner. If you know how to embed a SWF in a web page you can export as FLV and embed the video into a player using Flash.
    Jerron, I'd love to see the numbers that say Quicktime is more ubiquitous than Windows Media, particularly if we're talking about ability to view said content.

  • Auto-Mounting Network Shares/Disk Images

    Hi,
    I'd like to share how I solved my problem with auto-mounting a network disk image/folder share to be used as a custom library/location for Aperture 3.xx. I can now either reference the master photos from the network or have it copy to this disk image volume on the network, although it might be better to have it copy to the disk image volume, so one can move it around as a file later. I researched hard over these forums and internet resources and discovered what I thought was the best way to accomplish this. Initially, I found right away that Aperture doesn't allow you to create a library over your network drive or a home server such as mine, unless it is partitioned/formatted to Mac OS. This wasn't acceptable for me as I also run Windows 7 PCs that need to utilize the network folder shares, as well.
    I don't understand why I don't have this problem using iPhoto 2011, and do with Aperture 3.0, which is a far more expensive application. Anyhow, I read a little about NFS, but didn't know how to implement this or if it required the Mac Server and/or a non-built in application, it probably isn't compatible with windows. So, I found that by creating a .DMG disk image file, as a partitioned/formatted Mac OS file in Disk Utility, and saving it to the network folder of my choosing, did the trick.
    Steps I used to accomplish this:
    -Go to Disk Utility and create "New Image"
    -Select format w/ MacOSX Extended(journaled) and choose "single partition/GUID" type (or whatever you want)
    -Enter a custom size of your disk image (ex in 1GB or 1TB). Click "Create"
    * I created this locally 1st and then I copied it over the network, to the network folder/subfolder on my HP Mediasmart Home Server EX495. I found that creating it over the network took too long and would crash Disk Utility.
    -After it's copied to your desired location over the network folder, open Automator.
    -choose "Application" workflow, double-click to add "Get Specified servers". Enter location of your server (ex smb://hpserver/)
    -Then add "Connect to Servers",
    -Then add "Get specified Finder Items". Click Add, and locate your disk image file over the network. (this will automatically add the location path. For ex. smb:/hpserver/photos/aperture_library.dmg)
    -Then add "Mount Disk Image".
    -Then test workflow by clicking on "Run" button on top right of window. If your
    Finder->Preferences->General settings on your Mac is set to show "Connected Servers" on your desktop, your disk image will appear on you desktop.
    -Finally, save this Application workflow as an application by clicking File menu->Save As. Save this to your documents folder area.
    -To have your Mac auto-mount your disk image automatically when you login:
    ->go to System Preferences->Accounts->your "Admin account name"->Login Items
    ->click "+" sign and navigate to the Documents folder, to where the Automator application you saved
    ->click Add. Once done, it will appear on the Login Items area. You can choose to hide it, if you want by clicking the checkbox.
    -Now Restart your Mac, and now your disk image should auto-mount.
    Hope this helps, as it helped me solve the issue. Too bad one must have to program this and it is not native on MacOSX.

    Too many steps. Do this:
    1. Go to Disk Utility and create a disk image with the following properties:
    Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Partitions: Hard Disk
    Image Format: Sparse bundle disk image
    2. Copy the image you just created to the share on the network where it should reside.
    3. Open System Preferences, and click on the Accounts icon
    4. Select *your account* and click on the Login Items tab
    5. Drag the icon for the disk image from the network share into the Login Items list
    If a login item is something on a network share, it will reconnect to the share it's located on automatically first.
    If a login item is a disk image, the disk image will be opened and mounted.
    It's important that the image is a journaled one because if it isn't, being disconnected from it while writing would be potentially disastrous.
    It's important that the image is a sparsebundle for two reasons: sparsebundles only take up as much space as they need (e.g., a 1Tb sparsebundle with 100M of data takes up about 100M of space), and they also break the disk down into smaller files. If the underlying filesystem on your network share is FAT32, then no file can go over 4Gb. If you use a sparsebundle, of course, there's no practical limit to how large the disk image can get. Also, it can speed up certain types of backup procedures.
    I suggest using partition type "Hard Disk" instead of "1 partition GUID" because, as a disk image, there's no sense in having a partition table or making it bootable (because you can't boot from the image).
