Spry submenu colors and rollover images

New both to spry as well as creating flyout menus. I've spent
hours attempting to use the spry menus properly, but have hit a
brick wall in a couple of areas.
First (and I'm sure I must be missing something incredibly
obvious), I would like to have the background of my submenus a
different color than that of the main list. Somehow, I just can't
get it right.
Second is my need to for a different rollover effect for
different items in the first list. I need a different sized gif
shape to highlight the main words in the initial list. Through
switching out the default rollovers in the css, I can have a custom
image, but not a separate one for each selection.
Any advice (other than read a tome or two on css - I'm
running low on time for this :)?
Thanks

Spry is part of Adobe. This forum, though owned by Adobe, is
volunteer
staffed. By "our products" I was referring to my company's
products. We make
add-ons for Dreamweaver but we are an independent company
with our own
support system. Spry is very new and the documentation is not
really
targeted at beginners. It would seem you could benefit from
one-on-one
support, which you should be able to get by contacting Adobe
Customer
Support directly. I believe there are 2 or 3 free support
calls you can make
before charges are incurred. But you might get lucky and find
someone on the
forum who has the time and the knowledge to help you - it's
just not
guaranteed that you will.

  • Spry Horizontal menu using rollover images

    I see there are a lot of posts about spry menus and problems in IE. I wasnt sure if my problem is the same as the others, so my apologies if it's redundant. I'm working on a site with rollover images in the top menu of a spry menu bar with drop downs that fall below three of the menu items. Everything looks good in Mac/Win Firefox and Mac Safari. In Win IE 8 the menus go horizontally, left to right, instead of falling below the top level item as they should.
    The site is here: http://tinyurl.com/y8dxo8m
    The Spry CSS is here: http://tinyurl.com/yd8yhem
    Should I not be using rollover images with the Spry menu? I've spent quite a bit of time on trying to solve this, including attempting to rebuild the menu from scratch.

    I Paty, I just inserted the Dreamweaver rollover into the navigation. I'm not sure if that's the best approach to achieve what i wanted out of my design, but it seems to work. I checked it in Adobe's Browserlab and it works across all browsers. I'm looking into purchasing the Project7 product. It's not a lot of money and seems easier to work with for embedded graphics than the spry software. I spent way too much time with the spry trying to get the nav to look like I wanted it to while working in all browsers.

  • HTML5 and rollover images

    Hi there.
    Just wondering if there's any workaround for using rollover images when publishing to HTML5.
    I've also noticed that links and widgets don't always work correctly when publishing to HTML5. Will I just have to publish everything as SWF?
    Thanks.

    Almost all widgets that have ever been created for Captivate are SWF and therefore NOT compatible with HTML5 output.  If you have SWF widgets in your project and you want them to work then YES you will need to output as HTM/SWF instead of HTML5.
    In the mobile world, there is no mouse.  So rollover needs to be re-developed as a tap or swipe.  Effectively a click or drag.

  • Help! needed with behaviors - iFrames (open URLs and rollover images)

    I'm able to target an iFrame and open a series of images from text link numbers on same page.
    But I'm not able to simultaneously target another smaller iFrame and have a thumbnail of the same image load
    when the full size image loads in the full size iFrame,
    nor can I get a rollover image to load in the smaller thumbnail iFrame when I mouseover the text link numbers.
    I have nav link mouseover images on the same page, so I  numbered the thumbnail mouseovers consecutively after the navbar mouseovers.
    Previously, thumbnail mouseovers had been numbered beginning with Image1 like my nav bar mouseovers,
    and thumbnail images would load in my nav bar,
    but now they won't load at all.
    Suggestions?
    See - http://dstall.com/ld/products/priest/byzantine/

    OK, I got swap image to work for both images, but it's still not doing what I want.
    See 1, 2, 3 under 'Accessories' in left div -  http://dstall.com/ld/products/accessories/
    Mouseover of each number loads appropriate thumbnail AND full size image.
    I want mouseover to only load thumbnails, then on mouseout, load thumbnail corresponding to full size image that is currently loaded.
    When clicking on a number, I want corresponding thumbnail and full size image both to load and to remain loaded.
    Please check/correct my source code.
    Here's how I constructed swap image -
    I highlighted my text 'number', entered placeholder link (#), left 'target blank', selected onClick, then SwapImage behavior -
    SwapAction then appears next to onMouseOver even though that's not where I had applied the behavior.

  • Is it possible to create a .pdf with BOTH color and grayscale images?

    Hello,
    I am in the final phases of a book project (4 years in the making!) that has both grayscale and color graphics. When I save as a .pdf via the Adobe PDF printer driver and distill, I end up with a .pdf that only has color graphics despite the fact that some images were grayscale to begin with. I'd like the grayscale images to remain graysale in the pdf. Is that possible?
    I am using older software framemaker 6.0 and acrobat & distiller 6.0 and am reluctant to change now, I will upgrade for a second edition, but not now.
    Thanks.

    Create the document in layers with the background on a seperate layer than the text. Export the PDF with"Create Acrobat Layers" selected (it will need to be at least version 1.5).
    Open the PDF in Acrobat, choose the background layer then Options>Properties>Initial State and under "print" choose "Never prints".

  • Spry slide effect and loading image

    I'm using a "slide down effect" for a image, but when open
    the page in the browser, the image appear (for 1 second) before to
    start the effect... is possible hidden the image and view it only
    when the slide effect start?
    thanks

    Depending on how you want it handled, you can add a css style
    to either the image or the div in order to hide it before the fade.
    display:none;
    or
    visibility:hidden;

  • Images and rollover images

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/captivate/cp/using/WSA2E0A6EA-A192-4d38-8C15-5E589ACEF374.html

    It is not really necessary to store them in the Gallery, you can just put them where you want and point to them using the folder icon that appears next to Image Button when you choose that type. Pointing to one out of the 3 images is sufficient, if the 3 images are in the same folder and have the correct names   xxxxx_up, xxxxx_down, xxxxx_over  (xxxx is the name of your choice, do not make it too long or you'll have issues with the width of the dropdown list).
    I'm a bit wondering about the subject line and your sentence '... one can use an image I created in PS'.... If you are using Captivate 6 another way is to use a shape that can be converted to a button and fill the shape with the image. Difference with normal buttons is that you only have two states (automatically, you do not need to create two images): up and pressed.

  • I'm new to photoshop and I want to convert an image file to a fabric file like .zfab or .fab...is this possible? I want the image to be in color and the images are .png. I am using windows 8

    HI I am using software for fashion design called Marvelous Design . I want to import my fabric patterns which are .png image files but they have to be in .zfab or .fab format. can adobe convert these files into these extensions? If so, how do I do it? Thanks for any help!

    This is from File extension FAB - Open .fab files :
    The FAB file extension is associated with the Fabmaster software, or file format developed by the Electronic Source Company.
    Fabmaster seems to be obsolete product that is not supported by its developers.

    As for the software, did you mean Marvelous Designer?

  • Bring to front/back and rollover images on Question slides

    Hi All-
    My feedback captions show through revealing the content underneath.  There is not an option to make them opaque.  Also, Captivate allows me to insert a rollover caption on a Question Slide (as opposed to a button which it does not allow) but the rollover doesn't work.  Suggestions? Please see me pdf attached.
    Thank you!
    Rita

    All objects that are default to question slides (no separate timeline visible) are on top of the other objects. That has not changed.
    I found some tweaking possibilities for shapes but that first rule is still valid: http://blog.lilybiri.com/want-a-button-on-question-slide-in-captivate

  • Spry vertical menu button shows background color instead of image in preview

    Hello All, I'm a newbie (to the forum and Dreamweaver) so my apologies if my question is not in good form.  I've searched for this issue but cannot seem to find the exact problem I have.
    I've created a website (my first) and used the spry menu bar.  It works well using the default blue and grey colors for button and hover.  However, I decided I want to spruce it up a little and change the buttons to use a background image (rainbow pattern) instead of background color.  I internet researched this for some time and watched all the youtube videos people have posted for this process and editing the spry vertical menu bar CSS.  Using the .a and hover lines from the CSS, I was able to add my background .jpg image file.  In the design view, the button look exactly how I want them to.  However, when I attempt to preview in IE, Chrome, or FF, the buttons still have the default colors and no image.  I've gone back and deleted the default blue and grey, but then the preview just shows dark grey and white for the buttoms.  is there something that I am overlooking that would cause the background color to show instead of the image I have attached to the buttons.  I can't figure out why it looks right in DW but not in preview.
    BTW, I'm editing a template file and all the pages are updated with the new image buttons, but none of the pages show correctly in preview.
    Thanks

    Point taken :-)

  • Spacing of Spry Menu submenu items, and inserting background images

    Hiya, need a bit of help, could someone possibly guide me with this?
    I've created a Spry Menu in DW CS5 - so far, so good.. However I'm pretty new to CSS Styles so need pointers at what to change to get the result I need. I've created the spry menu, however the submenu dropdown items are not flush to the ones above, theres a 1px horz gap between each item and while it looks okay, its particularly visible in Firefox and Chrome and would prefer no spacing at all..
    The live site is at http://www.ebm.co.uk/2011site/indexnavbar2.html
    if you take a look at the drop down menu bar you'll see what i mean - what do I need to do to remove the spacing?
    I also want to replace the solid colour with images, where do I specify the images for 1) top menu item 2) submenu item and 3) 'hover' item, and do I need to make any areas transparent?
    Any advice would be much appreciated.. thanks!

  • Rollover Images on a Spry Menu Bar

    I am trying to build a rollover menu with different rollover images for each button. I want to use a font that doesn't come standard with most browsers, so each of my buttons are images that I created in Illustrator. I am currently just not having any text and using the images as background images, but I can't get individual rollovers to work. To get the backgrounds I used this code, just by giving individual ID's to the buttons:
    #products {
    background-image: url(../images/11945_companyname_R5_03.gif);
    width: 177px;
    height: 30px;
    #whycompanyname {
    background-image: url(../images/11945_companyname_Web_R5_04.gif);
    width: 211px;
    height: 30px;
    #getsamples {
    background-image: url(../images/11945_companyname_Web_R5_05.gif);
    width: 175px;
    height: 30px;
    #aboutus {
    background-image: url(../images/11945_companyname_Web_R5_06.gif);
    width: 168px;
    height: 30px;
    #contactus {
    background-image: url(../images/11945_companyname_Web_R5_07.gif);
    width: 224px;
    height: 30px;
    When I tried to put rollovers on there, I did code like this:
    #contactus: link, #contactus: visited {
    regular code
    #contactus: hover, #contactus: active {
    rollover code
    ...But that didn't work. Any help?

    http://www.nmprc.state.nm.us/id.htm
    this page uses rollover images, though it is the same image for every button....and the text is not in the image (the 2 below)
    so I would figure for each menu item image
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a
    background-image: url(link.gif);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: left;
    you will need a hover image
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a.MenuBarItemHover
    font-style: italic;
    background-image: url(linkhover.gif);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: left;
    If you are using submenus you also have to account for these:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a.MenuBarItemSubmenu
    background-image: url(link.gif);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: left;
    background-image: url(linkhover.gif);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: left;
    I also had to do some more coding to get the one without a submenu to act the same as the ones with submenu
    As VFusion says, just put an id for each menu item and create a corresponding hover item for it

  • How do I change the appearance of password page on Yosemite? Not my desktop or screen saver but when I wake my computer up and put in my password. The Yosemite colors and images are awful! Thank you.

    Appearance of Yosemite password page - how to change it from the automatic one?
    I can't remember what previous operating systems showed at this point but I do not remember being disturbed by it every time I woke my computer up as I am now!
    It's not my desktop or screensaver but when I wake up my computer and am asked for my password.
    Thanks.

    This is Fiona who asked the question. It's now been pointed out to me that the image is actually my desktop photo blurred. From close up I just saw contorted colors and blurred lines and hadn't linked it to my desktop photo!
    Still would like to know the answer because I hate it. Any ideas anyone?

  • PSE 8 coloring a black and white image

    Okay, so I downloaded a free trial of PSE 8, so my experience with it is limited, which may contribute to my problem. I've watched tutorials on how to add color to a black and white photo using the paintbrush tool, though I haven't watched one for PSE 8.
    I'll make a new layer, paint part of the picture, and then add another layer. But when I click a different color to paint with, it changes the color of what I already painted, even though I'm on a different layer.
    Also when I tried to just save the image with one part painted, it didn't save it, and the image looked as it did originally.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi,
    Are you using the right tool to paint on a layer?
    For coloring a black and white image, you need to save different areas of your image on a different layer and then use either Paint brush or a Paint bucket tool.
    It seems that you are selecting a wrong tool. For selecting Brush, press B.
    Then try painting on one part of the image and then go to the the color swatch present at the end of the tools panel on the left as :
    Now click on the foreground color swatch(on the top) to change the color with which you want to paint.This will not change the color of other layers on changing the color.
    Cheers
