• Spry Tabbed Pannels With Button - Button Breaks When Trying To Make Horizontal Aligned, Plz Help!

I use Spry Panels with buttons in it.
These buttons work like a charm and show from top to bottom. Never had problems.
But now i wanted to make a variation, where these buttons go from left to right. So i tryd making them horizontally but without succes.
I did got them horizontally but then the button-code wont work...
Can anyone plz take a look and tell me how to get these horizontally?
My efforts so far broke the code of the buttons.
The original VTabbedPanels Code;
<div id="TabbedPanels1" class="VTabbedPanels">
      <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
          <div class="TabbedPanelsTab" >
            <table class="Button" >
              <tr>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Home"><a href="#" title="Info" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br />
                </a></td>
              </tr>
            </table>
          </div>
          <div class="TabbedPanelsTab" >
            <table class="Button" >
              <tr>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Info"><a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(2);" title="Info" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Info.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br />
                </a></td>
             </tr>
            </table>
          </div>
          <div class="TabbedPanelsTab" >
            <table class="Button" >
              <tr>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Gallerij"><a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(3);" title="Gallerij" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Gallerij.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;" ><br/>
                </a></td>
              </tr>
            </table>
          </div>
          <div class="TabbedPanelsTab" >
            <table class="Button" >
              <tr>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Contact"><a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(4);" title="Contact" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Contact.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"> <br/>
                </a></td>
              </tr>
            </table>
          </div>
All i want is these buttons in a horizontal configuration inst of vertical.
I left unneccesary code, if you need the complete code plz ask and ill post it.
Plz tell me what needs to be done to get this horizontal without broken buttons.

The removing of the V didnt work.
The following code makes the buttons horizontally, but breaks function of the button code, so buttons wont work anymore.
EDIT: The buttons do move from up - down state but links are broken. Code doesnt open tab content.
<div id="TabbedPanels1" class="TabbedPanels">
                <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
          <div class="TabbedPanelsTab" >
            <table class="Button" >
              <tr>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Home"><a href="#" title="Info" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br /></a>
                </td>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Info"><a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(2);" title="Info" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Info.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br /></a>
                </td>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Gallerij"><a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(3);" title="Gallerij" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Gallerij.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;" ><br/></a>
                </td>
                <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Contact"><a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(4);" title="Contact" style="background-image:url(Buttons/Contact.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"> <br/></a>
                </td>
              </tr>
            </table>
          </div>
Can someone explain why the button code doesnt work anymore?
Bec i really dont have a clue.

• Spry Tabbed Pannel Trouble

Sorry for the newbie question, but I'm really in a bind right
now. I am using a spry tabbed pannel on my company's website that
I'm in the process of designing, and yesterday it worked perfectly.
At the end of the day yesterday, I did something and I'm not sure
what did it exactly, and now when I test it in the browser, I click
on one tab it shows me the contents of the wrong tab.
To try and paint a picture, I work for a small communications
company/ISP, so I have tabs for "home" "internet" "telus mobility"
"bell expressvu" "products" "about us".
Everything works left of "telus mobility". Once I click on
the telus one, it comes up blank. When I click on "bell expressvu"
the telus page comes up. When I click on "products" it comes up
blank. When I click on "About us" the telus page comes up.
I've tried making a new page and copying and pasting the
contents of the screwed up tab, but that just came up with the same
problems, so I'm thinking the problem is with the contents, and not
necessarily the CSS coding, but then again, I'm a total newbie and
I could be way off base. If anyone has any ideas I'm totally open
to hearing them. If you want to look at the page, I'd be happy to
send you the root folder.
I guess another option for me would be to just write the
whole page out again, which I guess wouldn't be the end of the
world, and might be faster. I was just hoping someone might have
had this problem before and knows what to do.
Thanks so much in advance.

• Validation Errors with Spry tabbed panels with doctype XHTML 1.0 Strict

I'm getting errors while using the W3C Validation Service on my Strict XHTML 1.0 pages that use the SPRY Tabbed Panels.  I've read a few places that W3C has no plans on 'fixing or relaxing" the restrictions. Is there any type of work around to the Spry Widget Tab panels code ??? All of my other pages validate nicely... hate to go back to Transitional afterconverting all my other code.
The DreamWeaver File validation also gives me errors but I think that is fed from W3C.

Unless you're incorporating XML applications into your web site, there is not much reason to use XHTML Strict doc types. That standard was last revised in 2002.  It has since been replaced with HTML5.

• Display Issue with Spry Tabbed Pannel

Please help!  I have been reading discussions for hours and still cannot figure out why my tabbed panel will not display properly in firefox or iexplorer.  It looks correct in design mode in cs5 and in browser check.  Here is the URL http://www.rrsfoodservice.com/indextest2.html.  Any help is appreciated.
Stephanie

I have had another look at your page.
It seems like you haven't got round to uploading those spry files yet or are you having some other trouble.
I checked your page in the validator again and came accross this:
       <!-- Begin Vista-Buttons.com -->
        <link href="library/RRS_NavMenu-files/styles_um4yi.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet"/>
        <style type="text/css">
        A#vbUL_um4yia{display:none}
        </style>
        <!-- End Vista-Buttons.com -->
        </head>
        <body>
        <!-- Begin Vista-Buttons.com -->
I suspect that's a bit of careless cutting and pasting?

• Problem with Spry Tabbed Panels with Explorer 6

I've used Tabbed panels all over my site, and they seemed to work fine in FireFox, Safari, Explorer 7 and 8, etc. but today i checked out Explorer 6 in BrowserLab, after someone said our site looked weird.
In EX 6 it certainly does: all the tabbed panels are preceded by about a screen's worth of empty space!
I'd appreciate it someone could have a look at this and see if they can tell what's going on:
See this page:
http://www.ragandbone.ca/Pages/willows.html
or almost any ohter page on the site!
I'm very far from experienced in web work, so I might need step by step instructions for any fix suggested.
Thanks in advance
John

Hi, John,
Make the width of the .TabbedPanels narrower. In the course of my experiments, I ended up making it 580px, which works in IE6, according to BrowserLab. You had a simple width overrun; your widths + borders+ paddings + margins (within the content div) added up to more than the width available. You might be able to get away with slightly more width, but test it carefully when you start to add it back in...
This might be an instance of the "doubled margin bug" (see http://www.positioniseverything.net/explorer/doubled-margin.html).
I changed the margin on .TabbedPanels to margin: 0 auto; so that any effective centering that had been done by 'filling' the width previously was now achieved by the margin-right and margin-left set to "auto." (The zero applies to top and bottom margin.)
I deleted the left: -40px; that you had applied to .TabbedPanelsTab and zeroed out the  right padding on .content ul, .content ol {
padding: 0 15px 15px 0; that your threeColFixHF_RB.css had applied to all ul in the site. This might or might not actually affect anything if you don't make these same changes, but I had altered them in the course of figuring out what was going on. It's never a good policy, in my opinion, to use negative margin if you can simply correct both elements, as I did. You don't want to be progressively compensating for things you don't need anyway!

• Spry Tabbed Pannels issue: adding new divs disrupting widget

I am having issues adding divs to the existing html framework of the .TabbedPannel div. Once I add additional divs, the content for each individual tab is displayed in one long pannel. I think once I added the new divs, the javascript was messed up. I'm a newb when it comes to javascript. does someone have advice for this issue?
Note, once I added the ".b" ".l" ".r" class divs, the pannels got all messed up.

Hi,
As you are already aware, this is where it goes wrong:
           <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup" >
            <div class="b"><div class="l"><div class="r">
             <div class="TabbedPanelsContent" id="derek">
If you want to assign different CSS rules to your content-panel, then why not apply those rules as follows:
           <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup" >
            <div class="TabbedPanelsContent b l r" id="derek">
Also you can apply CSS rules within the TabbedPanelsContent-div to suit your needs.
I hope this helps.

• OSX crash,not responding while tabbed browsing with safari

I have a very strange problem, OSX sometimes just hangs/crashes when i'm surfing on the internet with my mac pro (this year), i noticed that it only crashes whem i'm using tabs and switching
I have the latest updates installed, after a crash i can still move my mouse pointer but cant click anything also force quit and shortcuts wont work...
I have already reinstalled OSX Leapard... I didn't had crash for a week and half it seems and now again, haven't installed anything from then...
What can i do please help?

Ah okay, this is a freeze as opposed to a crash. A freeze is generally a non-responding system usually because something is consuming all the CPU. A crash is recognised by a text appearing on screen explaining you need to restart the system. See this link for an example:

• Spry tabbed pannels not working on iexplore 9 firefox 5 and others

Hi I have this website http://www.vlahell.com/vph and does not displays correct on many web browsers. Sometimes the last block goes down.
On Internet Explorer 6 , 7, 8 it's ok but on version 9 none.
Also Firefox 5  , 7 not good but on firefox 8 it's ok. Anything obscure going on here?
Also if possible the validator says tabindex does not exist; and the blue container at the bottom is unable to move to the left, even using the negative margin.
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely Vladimir Orona
CEO http://www.vlahell.com

You pointed in the right direction. I Changed the width, so now looks very close to each other; the container moved to the right, then I removed the border and now it's pretty equal on different navigators.
Still bugs on iexplore 9, but it's minimal. Offset of 5px, but It's ok.
Thanks

• Spry Tab as a link problem

Hi All,
this is hopefully a simple thing to fix but I've spend nearly two days messing with it and I'm stumped. I've had a fairly good look on the forums, on the net in general and even some IRC channels but to no avail. If theres a thread on the form I've missed please let me know. Basicall I'm using a spry tabbed pannel with 8 main links in it. Two of these, the first and the sixth I want to be a link themslves, ie they don't have any sub panel below. the first one is a "HOME" buttom that brings you to the home page and the sixth one is to ring you to a different page altogher, off site. here is the code i've been using so far ( for simplicity, I'll just put up a condnsed link version without the sub pannel stuff)
              <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0"><a href="http://google.com/">HOME</a></li>
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="1">Admin</li>
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="2">school</li>
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="3">Randomness</li>
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="4">Shop</li>
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="5">IBU</li>
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="6">Holidays</li>
                <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="7">Links</li>
              </ul>
              <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup">
                <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">
                </div>
When I click on the first tab, HOME nothing happens. The browser knows its a link but wont follow it, only if i right click and choose open in new tab/page will it follow the link.
Any suggestion, I'v tryed a lot of different possible solution al to no avail, shurly it should't be this difficult to do such a simple thing?
Any and all help would be appreciated.

Try
<li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0"><a href="http://google.com/" onClick="window.location = this.href; return false;">HOME</a></li>

• Spry Tabbed Panels - replace text tab with an image, how to?

Hi all, I'm stumped. I've uploaded 2 files to:
http://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B4zgjxAaUD97MmUzZTk3NjMtMDNkYi00NDJjLWExNzctOWNjMzM0MDlmMj g0&hl=en&authkey=CMWGoeEP

I'm working in Dreamweaver CS3, 4 tab "Spry Tabbed Panel" with 3 columns (one column is a form and submit btn). The 1st photo is a mockup of what I'm trying to accomplish. In the 2nd photo, Nokia designed a page for its Nokia Developer Summit 2010 (been pulled down since). This is the desired effect. I'm trying to replace the typical text tabs in the tabbed panel with images, or, at the very least, change the color between states ON and OFF (images the same except for bg color - green verses gray), which is probably the better way to go, given page load time.
I need the CSS and HTML code. I'd settle for just the image problem, but if someone can give me guidance on the content boxes too, that would be AWESOME!
REALLY hoping anyone can help (Ben, I'm an Aussie too) - been on this for a month now.
Very grateful Adobe staffs such a great resource tool as this site with a lot of really good, courteous brainiacs.
Thanks,

• HELP WITH SPRY TABBED PANEL -

On one page I created a spry-tabbed panel with a distinctive look.
On another page, same website, I created another spry tabbed panel with its own distinctive look, its own color scheme.
On doing the second page I discovered I was also inadvertantly changing the color, boarders etc to the spry tabbed panel on my first page.
Don't want to do that.
How do I create a spry panel on 2 different pages within the same web site and let each have its own independent spry set of attributes

Hi Ken:
When I insert a new spry panel it appears with all the css from the other page.
When I began to make changes the other page reflexs those changes.
Don't know how to get a separate SpryCss sheet. Do you?
