Spry validation not working on HTML5 page in IE9

I have a HTML5 / CSS3 data capture site here: http://shapewearpanel.co.uk/
On the textfield input towards the bottom of the page I have a SPRY validation applied to prevent entry of more than 250 characters and to count down the characters as they are typed.
This works fine in all browsers except IE7 and IE9. I'm not to worried about IE7 but I am concerned about IE9.
The exceed 250 characters validation doesn't work, the block doesn't work and the countdown only triggers on blur and submit rather than change (which defeats the object really).
The page defaults to IE9 compatibility / IE7 on my standards lists in developer tools and this works OK but doesn't implement CSS3 so I loose my rounded corners which I can put up with but it would be nice if SPRY worked across all modern browsers otherwise there is no point in using it.
Does anybody know any fixes for this problem, has anyone else experienced it?

Have you tried adding <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />?

  • Spry validation not working in IE9

    I am using DW CS5.5 and have a form on a PHP page and have set spry validation for 2 text fields and a textarea.
    Also using CAPTCHA on the form.
    The 2 text fields are a simple required validation and the textarea is required plus a max character validation
    It works in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and IE Compatibility View, but does not work in IE9.
    The CAPTCHA works in IE9 and all other browsers but can't get the spry validation to work.
    Here is the page

    It is up to you, you could remove the counter; personally I would leave it there because once the focus has moved from the text area, the number of (remaining) words will show.
    Another solution is to force IE8 standards document mode as in
    <head>
      <!-- Mimic Internet Explorer 8 -->
      <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE8" >
      <title>My webpage</title>
    </head>
    The problem with the above is that the rendering will also follow IE8 mode.

    Thanks for your help,
    I used the meta tag to emulate IE8 and it works as needed.

  • Spry validation not working in latest FF or Chrome

    Hello,
    A simple Spry validation script that we're using is not working in the latest editions of Firefox or Chrome. (However it is working in IE).  Meaning, it doesn't validate the form elements as it's supposed to (like missing email address) except for in IE. I can't seem to crack this one. Please have a look at the page:
    http://www.golfturf.rutgers.edu/lp/Copy%20of%203-week-turf-short-course-lp1.asp
    Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Arnout,
    Thank you for your input and for catching that folder pointing issue. However I fixed that and it still didn't remedy the issue. I would update the the latest Spry but I'm not sure that's needed because I have another page using the same Spry where the validation is working perfect in all browsers:
    http://www.golfturf.rutgers.edu/ppc-turf-form.html
    Everything looks the same.
    Can you offer any more advice?
    Thank you,

  • Spry Validations not working javascript:Spry.Widget.Form.destroyAll() in popup

    iam using spry to validate controls in a popup.in that
    validations are working fine but the problem is when we click
    cancel button also thse validations are firing...
    i am using
    javascript:Spry.Widget.Form.destroyAll() to destroy
    validations...but it is not working.
    when we click on cancel button how to destroy the validations
    as well as hide the popup...
    can anyone help me...

    Thanks! (While I'm REALLY not comfortable with code yet (working on it :-) I atleast understood that it was a PHP issue (yay).
    Studied the code in the examples in the book. And added:
    <pre>
    <?php if ($_POST) {print_r($_POST);} ?>
    </pre>
    It worked.  (I'm local testing, with no connection to a database yet. Just trying to get the basic pages to work first.)
    Hopefully the more I work on all of this, the more I'll begin to "get it"! And I'm almost up to the Chapter on PHP. So, I'm hoping to will become clearer as I read on.
    Thanks for the help in pointing me in the right direction!!!

    I'm following the steps provioded in the below link for Javascript Client side validation but still it is not working.I'm struggling to get this work.

    "The framework automatically generates the browser specific JavaScript and validate the data only at the client side."From the above statement i undertstand that framework itself generates the javascript function for validating the field mentioned in validations.xml file so that we dont have to explicitly write a javascript function for
    validating the fields
    (or)
    Do we need to call an explicit function
    Please need help on this.

  • Spry submenus not working while Included with SSI

    I have customized and created my horizontal spry menu bar with the help of some tutorials on here, and I have pasted it onto a page without any html, head, or body tags. I have linked to the CSS files and javascript files in both the page being included and the page containing the include. But the Spry submenus wont work on the page with the include on it. But they work on the page being included.
    I tried only referencing the javascript file with the page containing the include, and vice versa to no avail. Again, everything else works except the expansion of the submenus.
    I am new to all of this, I only know what I have learned from doing tutorials and reading forums on this fabulous website. Has anyone encountered this problem or have a remedy? Thanks in advance.

    I'm confused. The submenus in the spry menu on the included page work when I don't reference the external style sheets or the javascript in the page containing the include. Based on the explanation given by David Powers on this thread about how to use SSI with Spry, I thought all pages had to include the link to the javscript and style sheets:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSEE4C0148-A6F4-4bf5-9DEF-CE06AB026214a .html
    Problem solved? Or if anyone has an actual explanation for this, I will leave this question unanswered.
    Sorry to be so quick to post...

  • UIComponent broadCastAction is not working in mobile page

    We are using the broadCastAction in one of our critical flows to submit to an action in Managed bean but we are facing issue in our ADF fusion web app for mobile . When we create a page with mobile render option selected the broadCastAction is not getting triggered . broadCastAction shows null in the getter of BroadCastAction.
    <tr:commandButton text="AutoSubmit" id="cb2"
    action="processResponse"
    binding="#{pageFlowScope.testBean.braodCastAction}"
    rendered="false"/>
    This is working in normal page without "render in mobile" selected , we need a solution for it to work on mobile compatible page as well

    Hi Frank
    UIComponent braodCastAction is from javax.faces.component.UIComponent . It is used to invoke action of a UI component through Java code
    if we have button like
    <tr:commandButton text="AutoSubmit" id="testCommandbtn" action="processMobile"
    binding="#{pageFlowScope.mobileBean.braodCastAction}"
    rendered="true" />
    Then through getter method of broadcastAction we can invoke the action of this button using the below code
    braodCastAction.broadcast(new ActionEvent(braodCastAction));
    This is working in the normal jspx page but not working in a page where we select render in mobile

    When iam using jdownloader for dowload, the firefox did not work at any page, as like`` there in no internet conexion?``

    you need to check whether '''jdownloader''' is compatible with the Firefox version you are using.
    -> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extension section -> check the Status of '''jdownloader''' extension -> if '''an update''' is available for this add-on then install the update -> Restart Firefox and check again check the compatibility -> if it is '''GREYED with Exclamation mark''' then it is incompatible with Firefox
    Try using this extension to force compatibility.

    Check and tell if its working.

  • Spry select menu validation not working for all menus

    This is VERY strange...I have two menus which show depending on the selection in another menu.  The other, or main, menu has the spry validation working fine.  So does the validation for one of the other 'child' menus.  But the other child menu validation does not work, despite the fact that the code is nearly identical for both except for the spry ids and select ids (of course).  You can see the form working at:
    https://registrations.ucc.usyd.edu.au/profile.php
    If you select, say, Arts faculty from the faculty menu, then you will get another menu for schools.  Validation works for these when the submit button is pressed.  However, if you select 'Not Faculty' from the faculty menu another menu will show instead of the school menu.  This is the menu that is not validating.
    I have attached my php page for the code in this form.
    The same problem exists for other menus that are in hidden divs further down the page.
    Any help appreciated!!!!

    Your key is the "suitcase fusion for a font manager" line.
    There is a bug where you won't be able to create a button if you have a bad font, or a duplicate font, installed.
    First try shutting off all of the fonts you have open with Suitcase, and see if that helps. If so, open one suitcase at a time until you figure out which font is the culprit.
    If shutting off all but the basic System fonts does not help, you might have to reinstall your system, or somehow update your core System fonts. I don't know how to do that, but there was a recent article at http://www.tidbits.com/ that discussed fonts and their maintenance. But ultimately it's a font problem.

  • AJAX Spry not working on a page

    I recently upgraded to CS3 from MX and bought the Adobe
    Training Source Book by Bardzell and Flynn. No problems until
    chapter 9. I have attached XML data sets, Get Schema and built Spry
    Tables literally dozens of times by modifying or starting
    completely from scratch over the last few days with no luck at all.
    I am able to preview the data in the Spry XML Data Set dialog
    window, so it seems to be able to correctly read it, however, when
    saved, uploaded to live server and viewed in browser, the page
    contains only the HTML heading and the footer and no dynamic tables
    or data whatsover.
    I do not want to continue not understanding what is not
    working properly and why. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for the response.
    However, even after correcting the <h1
    spry:detailregion="ds1"> it is still not working.
    I am on Vista Ultimate and use IE, Opera, Maxthon and Firefox
    browsers and have tested on all four.
    No data shows up in DW design window. Just a small table
    representing:
    <table>
    <tr>
    <th spry:sort="countryName">Country Name</th>
    <th spry:sort="region">Region</th>
    </tr>
    <tr spry:repeat="ds1" spry:setrow="ds1">
    <td>{countryName}</td>
    <td>{region}</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    With blue {countryName} {region} fields.
    I am unsure about the xpath.js and SpryData.js files as I had
    deleted the initial ones that were created on my first try in an
    attempt to recreate them but upon subsequent attempts, the dialog
    window that informs that the files were created did not appear
    again upon recreation. I manually added them from the CD and
    uploaded them. Can I force a recreation of these files? Can I test
    these files to ensure that they are working properly? My remote
    server is not as current as it could be: PHP 4.3.11, MySQL 3.23 on
    Apache Tomcat 4, Linux ES 2.1 - Could that be an issue for any of
    this?
    Thanks again.

  • Spry Menu not working correctly

    Hopefully this is the right part of the forum to post this question, if not, I apologize.
    I have created a site in dreamweaver and am using a single Spry Menu Bar. I have read tons of forum postings about Drop down menus not working in IE, however, mine don't work in any browser or in the Live View either. I have a feeling it has something to do with either the div containing the menu bar or the sizing, but I can't tell.  Please help.

    You do not have a constructor for the menu bar as in
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var MenuBar1 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar1", {imgDown:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarDownHover.gif", imgRight:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
    </script>
    There are too many mistakes in the JS outside of the Spry Menu Bar. Have a look at the following which includes all errors, not just the JS

    This message may appear in several cases:
    You tried to include the "<" character in your page: you should escape it as "&lt;"
    You used an unescaped ampersand "&": this may be valid in some contexts, but it is recommended to use "&amp;", which is always safe.
    Another possibility is that you forgot to close quotes in a previous tag.
      Line 21, Column 40: cannot generate system identifier for general entity "i" … var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=… ✉
    An entity reference was found in the document, but there is no reference by that name defined. Often this is caused by misspelling the reference name, unencoded ampersands, or by leaving off the trailing semicolon (;). The most common cause of this error is unencoded ampersands in URLs as described by the WDG in "Ampersands in URLs".
    Entity references start with an ampersand (&) and end with a semicolon (;). If you want to use a literal ampersand in your document you must encode it as "&amp;" (even inside URLs!). Be careful to end entity references with a semicolon or your entity reference may get interpreted in connection with the following text. Also keep in mind that named entity references are case-sensitive; &Aelig; and &aelig; are different characters.
    If this error appears in some markup generated by PHP's session handling code, this article has explanations and solutions to your problem.
    Note that in most documents, errors related to entity references will trigger up to 5 separate messages from the Validator. Usually these will all disappear when the original problem is fixed.

    This is usually a cascading error caused by a an undefined entity reference or use of an unencoded ampersand (&) in an URL or body text. See the previous message for further details.

    You have used the element named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not define an element of that name. This error is often caused by:
    incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Frameset" document type to get the "<frameset>" element),
    by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "<spacer>" or "<marquee>" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead).
    by using upper-case tags in XHTML (in XHTML attributes and elements must be all lower-case).

  • Default spry css not working correctly

    Hi. I made my first Spry tabbed panel, CS3 on a Mac. It
    worked perfectly in Safari, and on a PC with Explorer. However the
    panels were not "stacked" under each other in Firefox and Opera -
    displayed all tab content as one long column . I ran a css
    validation and it came back with two errors:
    Property -moz-user-select doesn't exist : none
    Property -khtml-user-select doesn't exist : none
    What does this mean? Does anyone know why the tabbed panels
    are not working in Mozilla browsers and how to fix?
    The only change I made to the supplied css was to change the
    color of the tab, Here is the code:
    .TabbedPanelsTab {
    position: relative;
    top: 1px;
    float: left;
    padding: 2px;
    margin: 0px 1px 0px 0px;
    font: bold 10px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    background-color: #DDD;
    list-style: none;
    border-left: solid 1px #CCC;
    border-bottom: solid 1px #999;
    border-top: solid 1px #999;
    border-right: solid 1px #999;
    -moz-user-select: none;
    -khtml-user-select: none;
    cursor: pointer;
    color: #000000;
    Here is the page:
    http://pureinspirationmag.com/issues/back2.shtml
    Here is the link to the complete code:

    Thanks for any help!

    Perhaps there is something I can do within DW that might easily solve this?
    There's no magic button to fix bad code.  Adobe abandoned GoLive back in 2008 because it wasn't capable of producing standards compliant code.  This is 2013.  It would make more sense to re-build the site from scratch to be both web standards compliant and responsive in mobiles, tablets and desktops.
