Spry Widget Slideshow works in Firefox/Safari but not in Explorer

I just published my website. My slideshow works great in Firefox and Safari (which are on my mac), but when I viewed the website on a PC in Explorer, the slideshow did not appear. All that was there was a little box. I have seen posts with this same problem, but was unable to find an answer. Can anyone help?

Hi,
I remember gramps's hint in a similar matter, maybe it could help you too:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/700562
I qoute:
Hans-G.'s demand:
BUT I have to ask me/you why the same command, listed in the "SpryImageSlideShow.css" is not running.
gramps answer:
The red coloured lines are not included in the original; but will make it work for IE6/7
<style>
#ImageSlideShow .ISSSlide {
   position: absolute;
    top: 0;
     left: 0;
    text-align: center;
   width: 100%;
    height: 100%;

    I'm still unable to get my slideshow to work. It works fine in Safari and Firefox, but nothing shows up in Explorer. Does anyone have any ideas or maybe another reputable source for a different slideshow widget?

    jQuery is a popular Javascript framework and there are a ton of jQuery slideshows out there - do a web search on it. It might proove to be a better option for what you're trying to accomplish.

    Alvast hartelijk dank voor de tips, de voorgestelde wijzegingen staan nu online. Maandag kijk ik hier nog verder naar, nu heb ik nog wat weibg marge links en rechts en staat het submenu nog iets te ver weg.
    Als het mogelijk is zou ik de pijljes het liefst voor de tekst willen hebben (maar dat vindt ik minder belangrijk).
    Alvast een fijn weekeinde gewenst

  • Object based navigation in portal works in firefox/chrome but not in explorer

    Hello,
    Im running a portal 7.3 with ECC6 EHP7 as backend.
    im attemting to trigger an object based navigation from the mss application.
    the object based navigation is triggered in firefox but in in explorer
    ive attempted to HTTPTrace , it seems that com.sap.portal.navigation.objbase.objbasednavigation is not triggered in internet explorer, only the POST method beforehand.
    im guessing it is due to some network policy but they currently out of clues on how to help me.
    the popup blocked is disabled, and the SAP portal and ecc system are on the same domain and both are using fully qualified domain names.
    is there anything else i could do? Ive tried going through the wiki and error handling notes about OBN but to no avail.
    Many thanks,
    Eli

    I have had several people test and they all claim the Web Site works perfectly. Guess my question is what is unique about my computer? What setting or parameter do I have set that is making my computer act differently when I use Firefox 7.01 as opposed to 5.0 or 3.26? I have set up a test site that people can look at.
    Www.wallack-family-tree-test.com
    user name (all lower case) viewtree
    Password (all lower case haleydog
    The only valid link is Wallack/Pisik/Breiman
    In either one of the Contents Sections click on Surnames
    Next click on Rose
    When the next page is displayed Rose should be on the top of the page and http://wallack-family-tree-test.com/iWeb/Welcome_files/DR_IDX/IDX001.HTM#ROSE should be in the URL field.
    If you see this then things are working properly. On my computer, I see the correct data in the URL field but the Page that is loaded HAS NOT automatically scrolled down to ROSE. Rather, it is at the TOP of the page and I either have to scroll down to Rose or I can bring the mouse cursor up to the URL field and hit enter. My question - Why is my system NOT scrolling down?

  • Flash Player works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9

    I've installed Flash Player 10.3 and it works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9. When I look in Manage Add-Ins I see Flash Shockwave but not Flash Player. My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit). Safari is 5.0.5 and IE 9 is 9.0.8112.16421. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash Player and uninstalling Norton 360. Nothing has worked so far. Can you help?

    Thank you for your reply. Shockwave is loaded and enabled.
    The files in flash directory are: a folder called FlashPlayerTrust: file, flash10q.ocx: file, FlashInstall.log; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.dll; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.exe, file, install.log.
    There is no file: NPSWF32.dll.
    When I test the browsers I get no spinning logo in either Safari or IE9. Safari says: missing plug-in, where I think the logo should be. IE-9 says nothing at the same location.
    Thanks.

  • Spry menu works in Firefox and Safari, but not Internet Explorer

    I designed my school website in CS4 and  CS5.  The left spry menu bar appears correctly in Firefox and Safari, but in Internet Explorer the gray background and buttons do not appear.  You can only see the text and when you scroll over the text, it disappears even though when you click on it, the link does appear.  The website is http://ml.chinookschools.org.  I created the site on a mac and I am hosting it on a mac mini server on my network at school.  I am a beginner with Dreamweaver and I'm not sure if someone can help me with this, but I would sure be appreciative for any help offered. You are not using the latest Spry files
    The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
    Then, if you have a look near the bottom of SpryMenuBarVertical.css you will see that the white background colour has been specified for IE as in
    @media screen, projection
        ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
        display: inline;
        f\loat: left;
        background: #FFF;
    Change the value to #CCC and it will have fixed that part of the problem.
    When you upgrade to the later version of Spry, make sure to keep a copy of the CSS file as a reference to modifying the new CSS file.

  • Html page works well in firefox & safari but not in IE 7

    Hello,
    This is my first time using html and the page i created works
    well in firefox and safari but not at all in IE7.
    I know I shouldn't do this (this is probably a sin) but I
    converted a PDF file to HTML in Acrobat and then took the HTML file
    into Dreamweaver to add a couple of hotspots and uploaded it onto a
    server. No problems in firefox and safari but when I open it in
    IE7, I don't see anything except for a thin line across the top and
    nothing else.
    I promise I will learn HTML soon but for now I really need
    this page to work across all browsers.
    Does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Here is the link to the page and the source code(bottom)...

    If anyone can help me, i'd really appreciate it... thank you
    in advance.

  • Spry displaying in Firefox & Safari, but not in IE

    Ok, so I was trying to replicate one of the demos: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/rssreader/index.html
    Except that we're running on a LAMP platform which meant I had to rerwite the ColdFusion into PHP. I'm hoping the PHP isn't the issue, seeing as this wouldn't be the forum for correcting that problem.
    Here's the page I'm working on: http://www.darton.edu/ol-or/new.php
    It works just fine in Firefox & Safari, but when I get to IE, I get the "Failed to load feed items!" error.
    I can read the feeds in IE, but for some reason it won't display them.
    The core of the feeds.php I wrote:
    $xmlstr = trim(file_get_contents('LiveFeeds.xml'));
    $mydoc = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlstr);
    foreach($mydoc->feed as $feed)
      if($feed['id'] == $id)
       $url = $feed['url'];
       $curl_handle=curl_init();
       curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
       curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_HTTPGET, TRUE);
       curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array ("Content-type: text/xml; charset=utf-8"));
       /*$buffer = */ return curl_exec($curl_handle);
       curl_close($curl_handle);
       //return $buffer;
    Firefox and Safari aren't having a problem at all, everything is processing correctly. I thought, after reading some in the forum that the Headers were the issue, but as far as I can tell, the cURL HTTP Header feature is working as it's supposed to.
    I feel like I'm beating my head against a brick wall at this point.
    I just need guidence at this point, at least a shove in the right direction would be helpful.
    Many thanks in advance.

    The XML file seems to be in order.
    I do notice that IE has a problem with SpryData.js which points to interference from other JS. For a start, place xpath.js after SpryData.js.
    If this does not solve the problem, try placing both of the above files before any other JS files.

  • Works in FF & Safari, but not IE

    I'm using a drop down menu on the 'Services' link of this
    page:
    Heidi Maguire
    It works fine in Safari and Firefox, but goes haywire or is
    absent in IE 6 and 7.
    I've just used the spry menu widget in CS3 and altered the
    behaviours to make it show/hide.
    Is there any way of making it work and if not, why does
    Dreamweaver have such a feature when IE doesn't know what to do
    with it?

    Iain71 wrote:
    > Can anyone shed any light on why it doesn't work in IE?
    Yes, IE doesn't send the name of an image used as a button.
    Instead, it
    sends the mouse coordinates. I can't remember offhand what
    names IE uses
    (it's probably something like mouseX and mouseY), but you can
    easily
    find out by displaying the contents of the POST array.
    Once you have found out, you need to change the conditional
    statement
    that checks the form to check for either the name of the
    button or one
    of the mouse coordinates.
    By the way, you have a space in the name and ID. That's
    invalid. Form
    element names and IDs should never include spaces or special
    characters.

  • Spry email confirmation works in browser preview but not on line

    Hi
    I've got a problem using spry email confirmation.
    It's the usual enter email, then confirm email.
    When I preview it on my browser from the local site on my hard drive, it works fine, however when I put the files up onto my web hosting, I get the following problem.
    Next to the confirm text field, it shows the two messages which are normally reserved for not matching emails, or having not entered an email. This happens even before I put the cursor in the box.
    Code is attached here.

  • Spry menu works in Firefox and Safari, but not Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8

    Our school website is doing a re design and in the adobebrowser test lab it looks great in all browsers except for IE 6, 7, & 8. Some of our faculty and staff are still running 7 or 8, so that's why I need to find a fix. For some reason it puts my last menu item underneath the first one which throws the whole thing off, but it's the exact way I want it on all other browsers. Using Dreamweaver CS5.
    Here is the link
    I would appreciate any help! Thanks

    Something has gone awry here but afer that, I'm not sure what to advise:
    </div>
                </li>
                  <div class="latestnews"></div>
                </li>
              </ul>
              <p class="readmore"><a href="calendar.html">Click here to view all of the latest events &raquo;</a></p>
            </div>
    First off, you aren't supposed to have a <div> nested in an <li>.
    I also think that the whole unordered list there might  be poorly  formed.

  • Slideshow works on desktop viewer, but not on iPad

    I have an MSO slideshow that works great on the desktop viewer, but when previewed on the iPad it just shows the first state and doesn't transition to the next state.
    We have made slideshows before that work on both the desktop and iPad content viewer and can't seem to figure out what is causing these not to work. The filename links don't have any special characters or spaces in them. What causes this to happen?

    By any chance, do you link to the MSO from buttons in a scrollable frame? If so, you need to use a different method to convert the MSO to a slideshow. For example, you can select the MSO and choose "Swipe" in the Overlays panel, or you can create an invisible button with a "Go to Next State" action.
