SpryMenu cause the "no respond/freeze"?

We have the issue below and we tried everything possible and we think it might be the spry menu, would anybody know how we can fix the problem? Thank you again
I'm using Dreamweaver CS6 on Windows 7 64bit, though on searching Google the problem seems to be occurring occasionally on CS4 and CS5 too. Nothing can be done for about 10 seconds, when suddenly everything works again. We have two website I have been working on but I have noticed that when am working on our main website that's live for everyone to see, that's the one that freezes on me and I get the "No Responding" and the other one I have created is more for our use only and I don't have any problems with that one

Most likely caused by code errors and/or links to scripts on other web sites such as Google Ads or Facebook & Twitter.
My advice is to run your code through the validation tools below and fix reported errors.
     CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
     HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
     JavaScript - http://www.jslint.com/
If you continue to have problems, please show us a link to one of your problem pages.

Loading the latest OS on my Iphone 4 caused the phone to freeze and stop working. I get error message 4013 when trying to restore the phone.

Did you already try these suggestions?
Check USB connections
Related errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

• What causes the screen to freeze? 10.7.4

update to 10.7.4  and now for no reason the screen just freeze's

Use backups with Carbon Copy Cloner in addition to TimeMachine.
You can find CCC on www.macupdate.com
Lion does not include support for Rosetta. That and plug-ins and extensions change.
You really should try the Safari support forum www.apple.com/support/safari to help you isolate why or maybe you just need to
1. delete all the history cache and other temp files is saves to disk ~/Library/Caches/ (MetaData, Safari, com.safari etc)
2. Create a new Safari profile folder ~/Library/Safari
Or create a new user account for your system also and try that.
Never upgrade one OS over an older one, install on a new hard drive. Then use Setup Assistant.
And you might want to just try installing Lion new on another hard drive and see how Lion only really runs.
If you had saved the Lion installer you could test it out on another hard drive.
You can always boot from the 10.6.x DVD or flash memory that you had and wipe out Lion and take an hour to install SL to a new drive and do all the updates and also use Setup Assistant from your old drive.

• FrameMaker 10 - Topics that contain xrefs are causing the program to freeze

When I try to open a topic that contains a xref element with a valid href attribute, the program freezes for more than 5 minutes. This has caused significant problems with using this editor as our topics contain an extensive amount of xrefs.
Does anyone have any idea on why this is happening or is there a fix I need to install to correct this issue?

Hi Ian,
It's probably hanging because there is no call to Printer.EndDoc after you call Printer.Paintpicture. See this KB for more information.

• Whay am I having script errors with some of my websites only on Firefox, not other browsers, causing the computer to freeze for a bit at a time.

I keep getting "script" errors and my computer locking up while using Mozilla Firefox on some of my websites. I don't have this problem while using Internet Explorer. Why has this just started and how can I resolve this? I like Firefox, but will have to start using a different browser if this doesn't get resolved.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• Iphoto causes the whole macpro freeze..

Guys I have a 2 year old macpro with 4GB RAM and 320 GB HD. I have windows installed on 70 GB partition and 190 GB on mac partition is empty. I have only microsoft office and skype other than standard software. It became a real annoyance to use it because the rainbow sign is appearing very often. I thought upgrade to Lion would help and upgraded. No luck. It is exactly the same.
I realised it is iphoto that causes this. There are only 1500 pictures. I cant comprehend how a picture organizer hangs with so little number of pics. Anyone who has encountered  this problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot, Baris

I can't understand how you have iPhoto on a partition that is empty?
I have windows installed on 70 GB partition and 190 GB on mac partition is empty.
Assuming you have iPhoto and a Library on there: try
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

• I am experiencing problems when using the calendar minimonth function which causes the operation to freeze up.

I have, for a couple of months now, experienced a freeze up, and the firefox not responsive when using a date search box like when trying to pick a date for getting a hotel room or booking a rental car. I noticed that I had a message box that had been coming up telling me about unresponsive script detailing something like chrome/calendar/minimonth. I could not find that in my computer anywhere. It happens with ie as well. Any thoughts? This is driving me crazy.

Klaus,
Thanks although you didn't know the answer somebody out there did and I cannot believe how simple the issue was - assign a name to the computer through System Preferences>Sharing
excellent result, it's really nice to stop banging my head against that brick wall

• Not closing  the JDialog causes the application to freeze???

Dear all,
I am developing an application that contains dialogs.
if a user does not close the dialog and opens one of the
other window applications, e.g. Outlook Express, then clicks on
the application again by clicking on
the reduced window/icon at the bottom of the screen,
then the dialog is not displayed anymore (since it is at the back of
the main application window) and the application is frozen!?
My code looks something like the following:
JDialog totalCostDialog = new JDialog();
totalCostDialog.setModal(true);
totalCostDialog.getContentPane().add(new GrpTotalsDialog());
totalCostDialog.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter(){
public void windowClosing(WindowEvent we) {
         totalCostDialog.dispose();
totalCostDialog.setLocation(700, 300);
totalCostDialog.pack();
totalCostDialog.setResizable(false);
totalCostDialog.toFront();
totalCostDialog.setVisible(true);
I thought the to.Front() piece of code would solve the problem,
but apparently it does not?
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
Kanita

Rather use the JDialog constructor that passes in a JDialog or a JFrame. That way your new JDialog will be connected to a base in your application.

• Trying to access time machine causes the macbook to freeze up

I have a significant problem with iphoto. Now I would like to access my pictures using the time machine. This is what I do and what happens.
1) go to the dock and click on time machine icon
2) a bar with blue traveling stripe appears says connecting to time machine
3) after less than 1 or 2 minutes the bar turns grey and stops moving
4)now nothing works. there is nothing I can do but shut off the macbook with the little on and off button at the top right hand corner of the computer.
5) i turn the computer off. Wait a minute or two
6) turn computer on
7) repeat steps 1-6
8)now that I have gone thru this process i get the color wheel all the time.
I have tried to find answers in all sorts of mac books, discussions, you tube and google.
When I see something I think might work it's to complicated for me to follow mostly because I don't know where to begin, which of the many ways that there are to enter a program. Which honestly is what started this problem a couple months ago. New to the mac. Started working with my photos with no knowledge of the ins and outs at all and in doing so I began to loose group after group of photos to the grey/black ! monster.
My happy thought was knowing they were all backed up by the time machine. I could recover them from there, SMILE. Not now I cant even access that now. Things keep getting worse.
Please save a Mac by helping me

Why not start by reading the three User tips at the top of this forum's topic listing, especially the one on troubleshooting.
My guess is you have something faulty with your system from what you describe. I would start by:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Next try booting into safe mode to see if the problem ceases.
Download and install AppleJack - VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Read the documentation then boot into single-user mode and run the software per its instructions.
If none of the above help then you will likely need to reinstall OS X. You may be able to do the following:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

• Entering description of event into iCal, pasted too much text into event, responded with The server responded with an error. Preferences is greyed out, and window pop up comes up every time I open iCal and doesn't go away. Force quit, still opens. Help?

While pasting event description into iCal, accidently pasted too much text, causing "The server responded with an error" pop up. This pop us includes the event description, but because of the mass amount of text, the window shoots off the screen to the bottom, so if there was an exit red "x" available, it isn't visible or accessible. The iCal>preferences is greyed out and I have force quit and it pops up each time I use iCal. Is this even fixable?

        I can see that this issue has been quite extensive, and frustrating, and I am so sorry for all that has happened societygirl! I would like to help you work this issue out. • Commands cause Fireworks 8 to freeze (with Batch Progress dialog)

I've been having consistent trouble with Commands in Fireworks 8 (on Mac OS 10.4) causing the application to freeze. Has anyone else experienced this?
Here's the scenario: I use custom keyboard shortcuts to trigger commands such as ‘Blend Mode - Forward’ or ‘Increase Brush Size’ in order to speed up my workflow. After executing several of these commands, I'll be doing something simple like using the Selection Tool or adjusting layer opacity, and the application will freeze. A Batch Progress dialog appears ("0 of 0 files processed. Batch conversion  complete."), but it is unresponsive. The only option is to Force Quit the application and to lose any unsaved changes.
This happens quite frequently. It is not a problem with any particular command; it happens with _all_ commands.
In trying to fix this bug, I discovered something interesting: Every time a command is executed in Fireworks 8, it generates an empty FireworksBatchLog.txt file within my User/Library/Application Support folder (the same folder where custom Keyboard Shortcuts and Library Symbols are stored). Normally, a Batch Log is written upon completion of a successful Batch Process, and it includes useful information about what files were processed and how. In this case, however, the Batch Log text file is empty.
Now, this Batch Log might just be a symptom of the glitch, as opposed to the source itself, but it clearly connects with the Batch Progress dialog that appears once the application freezes. Apparently, when commands are executed rapidly via keyboard shortcuts, this empty Batch Log gets rewritten every single time, and a relatively innocuous problem compounds itself and causes the freeze.
I reinstalled the software, but the bug persists. I've also filed a bug report with Adobe—but would they even consider _looking_ at a bug if the sofware version is this old? It seems odd that Fireworks 8 is the only version never to have received an update. And yet this bug seems very matter of fact. I'm quite surprised that I can't find any other references to it online...
If anyone knows of a fix for this, or can replicate the bug in their version of Fireworks, please let me know.

• Fan problem causing my powerbook to freeze...

i have a bit of a weird problem...
first off, when i use my powerbook, everything sounds alright, but when i tilt my computer (from horizontal) the fan makes a louder noise. i sent it to applecare a few weeks ago and they were supposed to have fixed this problem (along with replacing my casing).
now, without any specific pattern, my computer will start to freeze with the use of any and all programs. i use 4-5 programs at a time, which is the same as before, before this problem started. the only change ive made to my setup is the use of an external monitor. at first i was using the computer with the lid down (while plugged into a 3-fan usb platform). the spinning pinwheel problem started to show up more and more so i started using the powerbook with the lid open and the additional monitor.
the oddest thing about this problem is that the freezing (spinning pinwheel) will go away and back to normal use if i tilt my computer from horiztonal (making that louder fan noise).
does anyone out there know what is going on with my powerbook?
PLEASE HELP!!!

You mentioned that you got router and the adapter, is the adapter connected to the computer? In most cases the adapter when connected to computer due to some hardware conflict with other devices causes the computer to freeze or get the blue screen error. It should not be cause of the router.
