SPS224 and Windows XP SP3 802.1x supplicant problem

Hi everybody
We run MS Active Directory based network (Windows Server 2008, MS NPS as RADIUS server) and have Windows XP SP3 and 7 in it. We have a lot of SPS224 (with the latest SW version 1.0.6) as the access switches, and we are trying to implement 802.1x in our network to authenticate users by their AD domain computer accounts. Also, we want to use dynamic VLAN assignment using RADIUS attributes. The authentication by PEAP-MSCHAPv2 works fine on all workstations but we have a problem with the dynamic VLAN assignment in case Windows XP machines are used. The problem is that after a successful authentication and VLAN assignment on a switch port, the Windows XP supplicant is trying to re-authenticate after several seconds. However, the switch port state remains authorized and the workstation does not lose connection. So, the only problem we see is that the state of supplicant does not correspond the switch port state. We have notice that the problem occurs when the "multiple sessions mode" is used (it is needed to enable VLAN  assignment by RADIUS attributes). We have tried the built-in Windows XP SP3 supplicant and Cisco Secure Services Client with the similar result. At the same time, the Windows 7 workstation works just fine, without any problems. Is anybody has faced this problem with Windows XP and has a workaround? Any help will be appreciated!

Not exactly sure what could be the problem. It should be working - it's definitely supported (I'm currently typing this via a XP SP3 machine using PEAP WPA2/AES via WZC). The only things I can think of to check are:
- Make sure your wireless drivers are up to date *this is a must*
- Make sure the other supplicant is completely disabled (uninstall it if you really need to rule it out)
- Try disabling the server certificate check in the WZC profile for this network (do you know for sure that your laptop trusts the IAS server's certificate)?
- Are you doing machine or user authentication for PEAP - make sure you have the WZC profile properly configured
- Are you 100% sure that you've configured everything properly for the network (WPA vs WPA2? AES vs. TKIP? etc.)

  • Windows XP built-in 802.1x supplicant problem

Hi, we are deploying PEAP for wireless access, we had no problem to get this working with laptop vendor supplied wireless management software (which includes 802.1x supplicant), but when I switch to Windows Zero configuration and let Windows XP management wireless, the laptop can not associate with wireless SSIDs, back end Radius server (MS IAS) log shows that user (with AD credentials) is successfully authenticated, but Windows XP supplicant seems did not receive authentication successful response from Radius server, and keeps retrying and finally gives up. Any idea what is going on with Windows XP dot1x supplicant? Laptop is running XP SP3.

  • Bootcamp and Windows XP SP3

Ok, here goes.  I have a Macbook Pro OS=10.6.8, 2.53gHz Intel Core Duo, 4gb, 1067mHz DDR3.  I am...or was, I should say, running Windows XP SP2++ beautifully (as marginally beautiful as Windows is) using VMware Fusion 3.1.3 thru Bootcamp.  I bought TurboTax for Business 1120 filers (no Mac version avail).  This requires Windows XP SP3.  No problem, if XP SP2 runs well, so should SP3 - NOPE!
After SP3 finished updating, I did the standard shut down and reboot.  The Bootcamp window came up like it normally does with the cheesy Windows icon as is was bringing up Windows.  Then, suddenly, I get the dreaded blue screen error (anyone that has suffered thru windows has experienced this). I tried completely shutting down the Mac and then restarting, but got the same error.  I have attached a picture of the error message:

no I got it going eventually.. the problem was i was impatient.. apparently even an hour of waiting with no response doesn't mean a hang.. If you'll just leave it overnight it will move on to the next step..
A google search shows that i'm not the only one fooled by this.. at 33 minutes to go... there are various postings by people who assumed a hang after a long period of nothing happening..
Anyway all happy now.. Thought i'd let people know if they have this issue.
1/ you CAN install XP SP3 with bootcamp 2.0. The pdf guide on the site and the install guide you print out from bootcamp assistant both say twice that you can install XP SP2 or later.. The confusion comes with UPDATES form SP2 to SP3.. It appears to do this you need to first install the Bootcamp 2.1 update in windows.
2/When installing Windows, if you get a very long period of no feedback back to you and you assume the install has hanged, if the green progress indicators are still moving it is still working, but it may take HOURS..
    Hope this helps someone else..

  • Framemaker 7.2 and Windows XP SP3

For any Framemaker 7.2 users out there who does not already know, Framemaker 7.2 will not work with Windows XP SP3.
A security file in Win XP SP3 causes problems with OLE graphics imported into FM. The problem will only rear its head when you try to save the document and the following error box appears:
"An Internal error occurred while writing imported graphics in this document. The file has been saved, but has lost some image data. Please report this fault to Adobe Technical Support."
Why only OLE imports are affect is beyond my skills as I would expect this problem with referenced imports. Adobe are not aware of this concern and have no fix. There are a couple of fixes, but neither are ideal.
    1. Remove all OLE files and import them as referenced files, then save.
    2. Roll back Windows XP to SP2. (This is what I had to do as I have a vast quantity of documents with OLE files.)
If anybody has further info please feel free to discuss.

    Andy,
It's just OLE, not FM7.2, that is the problem with the SP3 fix. This
has been reported in the Forums numerous times. Using OLE with FM has
consistently been a "not recommended" feature and Adobe is aware of
    the issue.
As you point out, the only two fixes known, to date, are either import
by reference or rollback to SP2.

  • Capturing on PP2.0 and Windows XP sp3

    Hello, there
    I bought a new computer:
    MSI X48C Platinum Motherboard & Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Bundle - MSI X48C Platinum MOBO, C2Q Q9400 2.66GHz, 4GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, Case & PSU
    Video Card Geforce GTS 250.
and put Windows XP sp3 with Adobe Premium suite 2
I'm having a problem capturing video with Matrox RT.X100 Xtreme Pro,
the capture window comes up, I select my source, Play back my source but
the capture window is black, nothing comes up,
it doesn't give me any errors or something, it"s just black.
Do you have any idea, what could be happining?
    Thanks
    Freddy

    Hello, Guys
    I'm back with great news!!
I fixed my problems!, my system is working great with CS2 Production Suite
the problem with capturing was "THE VIDEO CARD"!
The video card was the problem, was not compitible.
My motherboard required a "ATI Crossfire Technology video card", I thought it didn't matter
the Crossfire technology, but it does.
as soon as put the new ATI Crossfire technology video card in it, does it....!
it worked just great, now I'm capturing all my videos in HD as I wanted to.
I'm using the Matrox Extreme RT.100 capture card with Build 6157 software tools.
all these in a newer system like my mine works great, so fast, like never before.
I've been using Adobe Products since Versions 3 and 4, You know when it need it
    "rendering"!!
always had bunch of problems with these products, time consuming, even up to
Adobe collection Production 1.5 always had problems I wanted to switch to FinalCut Pro Studio,
but I missed the deal of Switching to FinalCut Pro in exchange of Adobe CDs and $500 USD.
I never got this product working nice and smooth, alwyas something wrong, like:
Importing, Capturing, Exporting, Burning, etc, etc.
Even adobe never wanted to update me to a new version for their bugs and problems
so I got stucked with Video Production Studio CS2.
And with my new system as 4/26/2010 I wanted to give it the last try to keep working with
    Adobe Products and guess what??
as you can see me talking about it, First time this product is working nice and smooth
    with a new system.
and I'm afraid to one day ever change the Video Production Studio Suite CS2 for a newer one,
I MUST BE DRUNK TO TRY THAT!!
They're going to have to prove alot before make me change it.
    or
when I see FinalCut Pro Studio doing a great job then I will switch.
Learn from my mistakes doing 15 years of video editing and effects!!
    Good Luck Bodies
and say: hello to Adobe Team professionals

  • Problem with OS 6 and Windows XP sp3

    BlackBerry Style 9670 (new)
    BlackBerry OS 6 Desktop Manager
Compaq HP 32-bit Windows XP Home Edition 2002 - Service Pack 2
    AMD processor
A few days ago, I bought a new Style after loving my Tour.  I'd been running OS 5.0.1. Desktop for my Tour but was told I needed to load OS 6 for my Style.
My PC would not accept OS 6 without first loading Service Pack 3.  However, SP3 crashes my PC and sends it into a continuous boot up.
I've had to do two recoveries this weekend!
I have found very little...if any information about this problem in the forums here or other sites that deal with BlackBerry.
Is there a fix or are you telling me I've got to now purchase a new PC just to run OS 6?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Use the attached link for detailed information on Desktop Manager versions and the specific requirements for installation. You can download manuals and the software from this page as well.

  • Reader X and Windows XP (SP3...) compatible?

I just loaded Reader X onto my Win XP (SP3) and now I can't open either the program itself or any any pdf files.  I get a message box saying "Windows can't open the specified device, path or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the file."  I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm stuck.  Any help would sure be appreciated!!!!!

They are local files - I'll check the permissions (when I'm back at that computer), but the program won't even open by itself when I try to open it via the Start - All Programs - Adobe route on WinXP....  I've defragged multiple times (not too bad when I started), created a lot more space on the hard drive, un-installed and then deleted my original download of Reader X, downloaded another copy, defragged again, installed the new copy, rebooted (again) and had the same response/message as I did originally.
I'll check out the permissions and let you know - thanks!

My adobe Acrobat Pro 8 (last updated) no longer works well if I install
Windows XP PRO SP3 . In fact Adobe Acrobat works but is totally unable to recognize any printer and a pop windows invites me to install one . Really I have 5 printers configurerd on my computer.
If I uninstall SP3 and come back to SP2 the problem desappears .
A precizion, it does not happens on all my computers, only on my DEll D620 LAPTOP.
Happy to read any help !!!
    Many Thanks !!!

Hi Christian, so after installing SP3 you can go into your printers folder and see all your printers? Are these all "local" printers or "networked" printers?
Also, with SP3 installed, are you able to print from any other application (i.e. Notepad) to your printers?

  • Install problem with Contribute CS5 and Windows XP SP3

Trying to install the latest download version on an XP system (SP3).  The installer is asking for WinWord and Explorer to be closed, however neither IE nor Word are runing and in the Task Manager, no Applications are running except the Adobe Installer.
I think it would be unwise to close e.g. explorer.exe in Task Manager -> Processes as it needs reboot to recover.
    Stuck.

Restart your machine once and try installing Contribute.

  • Black Screens with VDI 3.1.1 and Windows XP SP3 on Vmware

We've got a full VDI 3.1.1 environment we're prepping for production rollout in a few months, but our initial testing with a small group of people is seeing a random series of black screens on the Sun Rays. If you do CTRL+ALT+BACK+BACK to reset the session, it comes back to the login screen and you can login again and pick up where you got disconnected. Similarly, if you disconnect the DTU's session from the Sun Ray server console, it goes back to the login screen and they can continue working again.
Sometimes the "disconnects?" happen during various activities -- none of which are repeatable really. Sometimes they happen when nobody is using the thin client at all. Are these Sun Ray problems a known issue? I see several other threads about "black screens", but no definitive answers so far.
Oh, and nothing in the Sun Ray server log or the VDA logs when this happens... the only things we see in the logs are when we disconnect the session manually to fix the issue.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    thanks

known issues are described in the following document
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-62-280050-1
please try the workaround or if you have a active Support contract contact Support for a temporary fix. All known issues that can contribute to "black screens" will be fixed in the next Sun Ray Server 4.2 patch.

  • Windows 7 home premium and windows 8.1 pro op network problem

I have two PC-s, one is with windows  7 home premium  and the other one with  windows 8.1 pro op system.  They are wired via ethernet/ home network. Till I had old Windows  XP instead of Windows 7, the two PC-s were connected,
file sharing and device sharing was easy and functioning.
Today it doesn't,  windows 8.1 finds the other PC and creating the network, even identifying the different folders on the other PC however as I want to open a file, then loading forever starts, but
on the other side the windows 7 PC is frozen, only the hard switch off helps. ...
Any idea what to do? The diagnose shows that the access was lost.

  • Need Help: TS130 Server and Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit Problems

I have 2 TS 130 Lenovo Servers with Xeon 3.2 Ghz CPUs and 16GB of memory. Installing ANY version of Windows 64 Bit after a couple of reboots will cause the system to blue screen. Once it blue screens it is impossible to get back into Windows.
Get this. Installing ANY version of Windows 32 bit works just fine on either machine. I have swapped out ram, hard drives, raid on raid off, updated BIOS etc and the same exact issue on both machines. I have swapped out media thinking maybe it was just a bad disk, but after 3 copies of Server 2008 R2 64 and 2 copies of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and 3 copies of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and THEN the same problem occurring over and over on BOTH servers.. well needless to say I am pulling mu hair out. These are ALL OEM copies by the way not burned copies.
I called Lenovo Thinkserver support as we are a partner, and their only suggestion was changing some legacy settings in the BIOS which of course has done nothing. I have changed every setting in the BIOS that I feel it could possibly be and still no joy.
Thinking it MAY have been a video problem, I have even went so far as to add new video cards to both machines and the problem still exists on both machines. All drivers are latest versions, and I am getting tired of getting everything setup, and then BAM BSOD.. I have been a tech for 25 years, and I have NEVER seen this issue on any machine ever..
As far as the BSODs, one time it will be the language pack error, next time something else, and the next time something else.. no way to nail down the problem.
I KNOW its a machine error, especially when 32 bit runs fine on either machine, but what it is I have no clue.
I am hopeful someone here has had the same issue and can tell me what they may have done to solve the problem. It is absolutely driving me up the wall....
Thanks in advance for ANY help or suggestions.

Never mind.. FINALLY found the problem. Even though I swapped out media etc as far as Server 2008 went, I always used the same COA key.. guess what... English media and Japanese key.... snafu on our OEM vendors end I suppose.
Anyway I was issued a new product/virtual key through Microsoft and it resolved the issue.... stupidest thing I ever saw...

Same here.  I am dual booting Windows 7 & 8.  Windows 8 Energy Management is buggy, but somewhat functional.  Hopefully Lenovo will resolve the issue, but as each day passes it is beginning to seem less hopeful.
