  • SiteCatalyst as a Statistic tool for online publications through Indesign CS5?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use Omnitures SiteCatalyst as a tool by getting statistics for an online publication (magazine) made in Indesign CS5?
Earlier this year I went to the danish CS5 release-event where they talked about Omniture as a partner, and that it would be possible and easy to use the catalyst-product when producing and publishing a magazine (E-paper/PDF).

    Hello,
This forum is for the CS Live service SiteCatalyst NetAverages (http://netaverages.adobe.com), not SiteCatalyst itself.
Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question. You might have better luck posting in the InDesign forum, here:

  • Execute SMW01 (or similar reporting tool) in background

    Hi Folks,
My requirement is to pull out the list of bdocs in a specific state for a specified period of time but in background. I tried executing SMW01 (and corresponding report) in background but it always ends up in short dump with the error "VIEW_CREATE_ERROR".
Is there a way to execute this report in background? Or is there any other report in the system which might display the same results? Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Munish

    Hi Munish,
Unfortunately SMW01 was not designed for background mode, rather it is a dialog
transaction, and in background this kind of error may occur that does
    not happen in dialog.
If you really need to execute it in background mode, you could write your own custom report that selects data from table
SMW3_BDOC. Here you find all the information which also displayed in
transaction SMW01. So you are also able to put the information into the
spool list or to print it out.
If you want information about occurred errors please use following
    tables:
    SMW3_BDOC4      BDoc: Validation Errors
    SMW3_BDOC5      BDoc: Receivers with state
SMW3_BDOC6      BDoc: Receiver specific error segments
    Hope this helps.
    Regards

  • Dual-Display Tools for Mac OS X ???

I think this question is more appropriate in some software section of the discussions but I couldn't find an appropriate place to put it.
Anyway, the questions is, in Windows XP and Windows Vista there are some tools, (either provided within the software in the graphics drivers, or available through external 3rd party software such as UltraMon) that facilitate working in a dual display environment.
I have Mac OS X now running on 2 x 20" displays and I am looking for some tool that offers similar quick tools and options like "Jump window to next screen" or "Maximize on second monitor", and a tool which might extend the dock to the second monitor. So that whatever is minimized in one monitor appears in the dock of that monitor rather than appearing in one dock.
Also something that remembers which monitor the application was running on when it was opened before, so that the next time it opens up, it opens in that one rather than opening up in the primary monitor.
This was all offered by a software called UltraMon in Windows XP, and I found it extremely handy when working on a dual display set up. Especially since I could assign keyboard shortcuts to all the tools and just by pressing some keys on the desktop I could jump windows to the next screen, or maximize, minimize on each screen.
Does anyone know of an equivalent in Mac OS X?

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any Mac equivalent for UltraMon.
Fortunately, MacOS has always been much better at managing multiple display setups than windoze ever was. You might take a look at "Desktop Manager"
    http://desktopmanager.berlios.de/
which provides a lot of the virtual desktop features UltraMon offers.
The biggest drawback in using multi display configurations in OSX has to do with the way applications are displayed. In windoze, every open app has its own "menu bar" that is part of the application window and, therefore, can "travel" with the window. On the Mac, the menu bar is always at the top of one display or the other and changes for the active application. Not nearly as convenient and one of the very few ways that windoze (IMMHO) is "better".
There is a good utility that will aid greatly in overcoming this limitation. It's called DejaMenu
    http://homepage.mac.com/khsu/DejaMenu/DejaMenu.html
and it will give you a popup contextual menu for the active application by "right clicking" anywhere in any of the app's windows.

  • SPSS and Stata for MAC

I am thinking of buying a MAC and it will be my first time using a MAC. Its important for me to know if statistical software like SPSS and Stata can be used on a MAC and can they be installed from the CDs normally or is there something else I need to do. Also would all my Mircosoft office files open in a MAC.
    Thank you.

I am actually waiting for my SPSS 16 Mac to arrive to test that very thing.
This is what I have heard.
    1) SPSS 16 will work on Leopard, albeit a little sluggish. However a full testing has not been completed.
    2) SPSS 16.01 which will be FULLY compatible with Leopard will be released in Dec.

    Welcome to the forum, mladizi!
Remember that Google is your friend.

It may seem that way if you see more PCs than Macs. Consider checking with the University's IT Department or Bookstore to see if they have a relation with some of the retailers of academic version software such as OntheHub. These retailers offer discounts on purchase or rental of many types of software such as the SPSS GradPack. See the links to Student versions on that web page.

  • Managed Server Monitoring tools for WLS 8.1 on linux

Our organization uses a set of locally written shell scripts to monitor the status of the managed servers in a WLS 8.1 domain installed on RedHat Linux 4, update4.
The main monitoring script uses the output of the "ps" and "netstat" commands to determine the process-id, server name, and tcp ports used by each managed server.
It is able to determine the name of the managed server by parsing the value of the "-Dweblogic.Name" parameter from the command line of the java command that launches the jvm that represents the managed server.
When a managed server is started, the command line resembles the following:
    java \
    -DLotsofVariables \
    -classpath LotsofCpElements \
    -Djava.security.policy==PolicyFile \
    -Dweblogic.Name=NameOfMgdServer
The maximum number of characters displayed by the "ps" command with the wide (-w) option is 4096.
A recent addition to the class path has increased the length of the command line, resulting in the "NameOfMgdServer" being truncated.
It now appears similar to the following:
    java \
    -DLotsofVariables \
    -classpath LotsofCpElements \
    -Djava.security.policy==PolicyFile \
    -Dweblogic.Name=NameO
This breaks our monitoring script because it is looking for a managed server named "NameOfMgdServer", not "NameO".
Each managed server is monitored by the WLS administration server and the local node manager.
Is there a way to restructure or rewrite the command line used to launch the managed server java jvm such that the "-Dweblogic.Name=NameOfMgdServer" appears before the specification of the classpath?
I can find no mention of the "-Dweblogic.Name" parameter on the "Remote Start" tab corresponding to each managed server, so it appears that WLS is building the java command line internally based on the contents of the config.xml file, before launching the managed server process.
I've considered adding an additional parameter to the java command line preceding the specification of the classpath, simply to identify the identity of the managed server, but I don't like this type of hack.
Perhaps someone else has developed a similar monitoring tool, and could provide some advice?
    Any feedback is appreciated

  • What are the supported Macintosh Operating System versions for IBM SPSS Statistics 18,19 and 20?   Question  I would like to know what are the supported Macintosh Operating system versions for IBM SPSS Statistics versions 18, 19 and 20? Answer  Please see

What are the supported Macintosh Operating System versions for IBM SPSS Statistics 18,19 and 20?
    Question
I would like to know what are the supported Macintosh Operating system versions for IBM SPSS Statistics versions 18, 19 and 20?
    Answer
    Please see the list below:
    - IBM SPSS Statistics 18 and 19 releases are supported on Apple Macintosh OS 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) with Intel processor.
    - IBM SPSS Statistics 20 release is supported on Apple Macintosh OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and 10.7 (Lion) with Intel processor.
    - The IBM SPSS Statistics versions 18 and 19 are not supported on Mac OS 10.7 (Lion).
THIS MEANS THAT TO USE LION ONE FIRST HAS TO UPGRADE TO SPSS STATISTICS 20.

Whilst the 2012-02-15 edition of IBM's matrix does not mention Lion, a few users have noted that:
    • 18.0 can be troublesome
    • an updated version of 18.x should be better.
    Related files
PASWStatistics_1 803_Mac_Patch.dmg and IBM SPSS Statistics 18.0.3.4 Hotfix Mac.zip are no longer available from the spss.com domain, and I could not find them in an IBM domain. If you download from unofficial sources, proceed with caution.

Here's a quick summary of what to do to view the number of registered phones per subscriber. There's lots more detail on all the available parameters in the docs from that link I gave above.
Open RTMT and select the Default profile. From the left hand window, select the "Performance" option.
This will open the Performance screen. Pick one subscriber from the list of nodes, expand it out, and then expand out the "Cisco CallManager" branch. Select and drag the Registered HardwarePhones option to one of the six blank squares.(You can adjust the divider to make reading the labels easier - but selecting the divider isn't always easy) You can repeat for all your other subscribers.
You can add extra tabs by selecting Edit (From the top-level menu bar) -> New Category.

  • My advisor says PC, but I want a Mac...

    Hey everybody,
For the past few months I have been planning to spend the money I make this summer on a MacBook Pro when I start grad school (in psychology) in August.
However, today I spoke with my advisor and she suggests getting a PC instead, since all the computers in the psych lab are PC, and the programs used are on them.
I know that if I wanted to I could get a program to run Windows on my Mac. But if all the programs used are available for Mac (and affordable through the campus computer store), do I need to do bother? Will I have trouble going between the operating systems, even if I'm using the same program (I think mostly SPSS for statistical stuff). If I do decide to put Vista on my MBP, what are the risks? i'm worried it will cause problems...but, the guy at the store said it will run just as well if not better than it would on a PC laptop. I'm also wondering if I'll need more memory if I'm using both operating systems.
Anyone have any comments or suggestions? Thanks -

Thanks for your helpful response - sorry it's taken me so long to write back. I've found out what software I'll need, at least for my first semester. It is offered in both Mac and PC versions; it's called "JMP In" - statistical software by SAS (read about it at http://www.jmp.com/software/). I'm not concerned about having to go back and forth between programs like Office--word, ppt, excel--that are frequently used, and that I've used on both machines. I am worried about the statistical software since it is less commonly used, and I would assume very rarely on macs.
Could you clarify for me what you wrote in your last paragraph?
"For example, if you are working on a word document on you mac and then you take it to class to continue refining it, so long as the file resides on a drive that is recognizeable by a PC, your good to go. FAT32 is the format that will be universal between Macs and PCs. Both the PC and the Mac use a proprietary format by default because it is the most efficient for their OS. FAT32 is an old PC format that both the Mac and PC can read and write to. Your go between device (flash drive or external hard drive) will need to use this format."
I'm not sure what all this means. I have a Memorex USB drive that I've been using for the past few years and it has gone between Macs and PCs on my undergrad campus with no problem. Does that mean if I put files from JMP In on it that it will work? I'm not sure what you mean by the FAT32 format...is that for file format or just the USB drive, or what?
I love computers, Macs specifically, but I wouldn't call myself an expert-hence the cluelessness about your format lingo above. I'm just trying to get all the information I can so that when I actually get my laptop, I know what software I'll need. If I do decide to get the Mac version, I want to be absolutely 100% positive that I won't have any problems going between my macbook and the PC computers in the lab. Otherwise I'll have to do Parallels or Boot Camp, which I'm weary about.
    Thanks for all your help!!

  • Corporate Mac Users...How?

First, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn't find a better sub-topic.
Second, this is actually a serious question. I'm a Windows network administrator who switched to Macs for my home computers last year. I just read an article about the newspaper company Alex Springer AG switching 10,000+ employees to Macs, and after discussing the article with my boss, we really don't know how this is being accomplished. We have three specific questions:
    1. How does disk imaging work? The first thing we do when we get new computers is re-image them with our standard image that includes all of our basic software and the OS pre-configured to our standards. Are there similar imaging tools for OS X?
    2. Is it even possible to get a clean, base install of OS X (i.e. without iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, etc)? At least in our environment I see no reason why anyone should need any of these things. Can these applications be uninstalled?
    3. What is the Apple equivalent of Group Policy? More specifically, how much remote control does an administrator have over his/her Apple desktops? Can we remotely restrict which applications can be launched, set DNS and proxy settings, select a standardized desktop wallpaper and dock icons, install printers, etc?
If anyone can answer any of these questions, we would greatly appreciate it.

    Hi
First: Welcome to the Server Discussion Forums! I think this is as good a place as any to ask your questions? Second: You're asking good questions. Hopefully I can provide you with serious answers? I know nothing of the company you speak of but I can quite easily see how it can be accomplished. If it can be accomplished using the Windows platform then why can't the same be achieved using other platforms?
    1 Yes. See:
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/L355778BNetBootTB.pdf
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/L355777BNetInstallTB.pdf
    2. Yes. With 10.5 You can customize a disk image as well as developing a custom workflow. See:
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/SystemImaging_and_SW_Update_Adminv10.5.pdf
    3. Open Directory and MCX. Apple's Open Directory is founded on the same Open Source (OpenLDAP) as Active Directory as is its implementation of MIT's Kerberos. Like Microsoft Apple have altered it to suit their own purposes. MCX is short for Managed Client X. You actually get to manage what clients see in their dock, what printers they can/can't use as well as Quotas. It's an extensive list. The feedback I get from AD admins is "why can't Microsoft give us the same management tools?" See:

  • Aspect ratio of selection tools locked in CS4

Suddenly, all tools that produce a marquee during dragging are locked to a 1-1 aspect ratio, as though the shift key were depressed. For example, with the rectangular selection tool, a square marquee is displayed during dragging. However, when I let the mouse button up, the selected rectangle is not square, but has corners at the start and end points of the drag. If I depress the shift key before releasing the mouse button, I get the square selection corresponding to the displayed marquee.
This behaviour affects all selection tools that display a rectangle-bounded marquee (rectangle, ellipse, crop), as well as drawing tools. Similarly, transformation tools such as scale and transform also act as though the shift key were depressed during dragging, but, when the mouse button is released, produce a result which one would expect if the shift key had not been depressed (unless it is depressed as the mouse is button is released).
Any help to resolve this would be most appreciated!

I've been having the same problem. I had it occasionally with Photoshop CS3 and I've recently upgraded to CS5 and it just occurred again. I would love to figure out why this happens.

  • Dodging and burning tool freeze up on CC 2104

I have recently subscribed to CC Photoshop 2104 and when using the burn tool the programme just hangs, or takes a very long time to complete the action. i have to close down lose my work and re-open. Dont know how to fix it, help?

I recognize that you want to use the Dodge and Burn tools for local tone adjustment, but it would be to your advantage to use another approach for dodge and burn. Consider this:
Dodge and burn, techniques that provide subtle local adjustments in the tone values of an image, are familiar to anyone who has worked in a film & paper darkroom. Photoshop’s similarly named tools have one notable shortcoming; each dodge or burn dab is incorporated into the image. This makes it impractical or impossible to undo one or more of the changes minutes later, when other dabs have been added elsewhere in the image. Instead, you must then pile correction on correction rather than modifying the original image values. It is an inefficient and often destructive procedure.
There is a better way – one that puts the dodge and burn adjustments on a separate layer where they may be seen at any time and each adjusted or even eliminated, returning the area to its original value – all without corrupting the original image. This is how to do it:
    1. Load a file to be retouched and add a blank layer by clicking on the Create a New Layer symbol at the bottom of the Layers panel to the left of the Trash. The blank layer is Layer 1.
    2. Choose Edit > Fill and from the double-arrow options of the Use field, choose 50% gray. Then click OK. The image area will become gray overall.
    3. Change the Blending mode in the Layers panel from Normal to Overlay. The Background image will return although you will be working on Layer 1.
    4. Do not use the Dodge and Burn tools. Choose the Brush tool and adjust its size by tapping either of the square brackets to the right of the P key on the keyboard. To adjust the Brush hardness – a soft edge is best for this -- hold down the Shift key as you continually strike the left the square bracket. Set the Opacity of the Brush in the Options bar at about 10%.
    5. Painting in white will Dodge (lighten) the area, Black will Burn (darken) the area. Strike the D key to place Black as the Foreground color and White as the Background color. To transpose them stroke the X key. Dab or stroke with the Black to slowly add density. To lighten an area, dab or stroke with White. Although the image will reflect the changes, they are being recorded on Layer1 and may be viewed by turning off the eye in the Background layer. Best of all: to undo any tone adjustment and return the area to its original value, simply return that area to 50% by cloning from an adjacent unretouched area in Layer 1.
