-spweb shows all sites but won't let me access them.

I'm trying to access a document library on a sub site but can't for some reason.
In powershell I enter "Get-SPWeb -Site https://sitename/site/"
It then shows me a list of all the sub sites to "site".
https://sitename/site/a
https://sitename/site/a/a1
https://sitename/site/b
https://sitename/site/b/b1
But if I type in "Get -SPWeb -Site https://sitename/site/a/" it gives me an error as if the site didn't exist.
any ideas?

That is because -Site switch is for the Site Collection from which you are asking it to get list of Webs. https://sitename/site/a/ is not a site collection
This should work.
$web = Get -SPWeb "https://sitename/site/a/"

Photos show in finder, but won't let me select them...

For some reason I can't access some of my photos - when the finder window opens and I click on Photos, I can see the thumbnail of the picture in iphoto but the file name/number is a light gray color instead of in black. (I did not delete photos). Any ideas?

What Finder window? Are these images in iPhoto?
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.

There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Can see pictures, but PSE 3.2 won't let me access them! Tech support could not help!

I have been through customer service, both online and live. I have been through tech support with Adobe, online and live. They have given me unlock codes, none have worked. When I enter them, it kicks me out of the program. They have essentially told me there is no support for 3.2. I can see all the jpg's of my pictures behind the registration box, but it will not let me access them. They do not show up in any document or picture file outside Adobe so I can't access them there. I am very suprised that tech support had no "backdoor" way for me to get into the program and access my pictures. It is extremely disappointing. Does anyone anywhere have any advice on how to get them out? I downloaded 7.0 on trial and it can't transfer them over. Please someone help...tech support essentially told me they are locked in 3.2 and cannot be accessed.

Not sure if the problem is the unlocking code or something else, but I have a few tips that might get you around the problem.
First, Starter Edition does not have any files 'in' it; it is an index of pictures that you've imported into the program. What gets imported is the path to the file, not the file itself. What you see in Starter Edition is a preview thumbnail of the file that was drawn at the time of import, but it's not the actual file.
Some of the other data that you may have added after importing the file IS only accessible from within the program; stuff like captions, tags, and dates, if you've reassigned them. That information is stored in a catalog file, which can be imported into Photoshop Elements. More on that later.
But it's important to understand that the files are not locked into the program in any way, other than the custom data that you added to it with Starter Edition. It also means that if you are needing to get at the files that you used to browse using Starter Edition, you will have to use Windows Explorer, or even Picasa (which works similarly to Starter Edition; as an index of files you have on your computer).
The first strategy I would employ to find files is to look in My Pictures for files. If' you imported files using the Photo Downloader, then it might have copied files into a Digital Camera Photos folder. Browse there and see if they are in there. It is possible that you may have pointed the Photo Downloader to some other location for downloading photos, but that's an advanced feature, so look for the Digital Camera Photos folder. While you're there, look for any other suspicious folders in your My Pictures folder; who knows where files could have gone, but I'd dig through all the folders there, just as I would turn the house upside down to find my car keys. Hopefully, you will be able to successfully locate the files you used to see within Starter Edition.
If you would like to carry forward all the tag info that you've added to the files using Starter Edition, you could import the Starter Edition catalog into Photoshop Elements 8 (there is a risk-free trial that you can download from https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?loc=en%5Fus&product=photoshop%5Felements).
I am trying to help another customer who ran into a snag converting a catalog from version 2 of the program, but if you have 3.0 or 3.2, I can say I fully expect that to convert. Then you would have 30 days to try that out, and see if you would be willing to pay the $99 or so that it costs.
If you don't want to pay, but you do want to save all that tag info that you've added to the file so that some other program could use it, you can select all your files in the Photoshop Elements Organizer, and use the Write Info to Files command to embed tag info to the files.
Note that the Photoshop Elements Organizer works in the same basic way as the Starter Edition program; it indexes the files, but it doesn't copy any files INTO it. Also note that if you attempt to convert a catalog into Photoshop Elements, but the links to the pictures have been previously severed (as a result of moving the file from its original location), then the file will NOT be created in Organizer; it can only work with files that it finds.
Since you mention that the program is crashing, if you still have the installer, you could try reinstalling; sometimes that helps, and if it's not a problem with the unlocking code, a new install might do the trick.
Let me know if something doesn't add up; you should be able to preserve your catalog and import it into Photoshop Elements, even if you can't launch Starter Edition.

Import from SD card on X-fi imports all files, but doesn't let me see them.

The Import feature has been very handy this Christmas. I was able to take my wife's sisters SD card and make a copy onto my Zen X-Fi and later copy the photos onto my computer.
What was odd was that when I was exploring the device, I noticed another folder full of music and videos from when I tried to import them from a SD card.
The Import All option seems to copy everything from the SD card, but will only let you look at the pictures that were imported.
This seems like a really odd behavior to have the import all function just use up the storage space and not let the user play the imported videos or mp3 files.

My fcpx 'sees' the movies in side window, but won't let me drag them into the timeline. Any idea why?

problem started when i moved my whole photo library to an external. FCPX wouldn't see it, so I moved it back- to the original spot/. And still fcpx wouldn't relink. So i started to 'rebuild' my movie and drag movie clips again into the timeline but it won't let me (tho it 'see's the clips when i click on 'camera' icon).
It allows me to drag in the original pics (jpegs) but not any of the movies ...arghhh pls help thx!!!!

What version are you using with 10.8.5? Why did you import video into iPhoto? What are the complete specs of the video files? Are they in formats that are compatible with FCP?

Bought slideshow songs but won't let me use them for that

I bought an album for use with power point presentations but itunes won't let me convert the files so I can use them for the exact purpose I purchased them. I don't want to do anything illegal...just use the songs for the correct purpose.

You'll have to burn a CD of the songs and then reimport them to use them in a program other than iTunes.

I just purchased an ipod shuffle (4th gen.) and I have been working trying to get it running for hours. I have followed all manuals and tutorial help. When I pull up my device manager, it shows an Ipod, but won't let me download the Usb driver.

HT201272 Some of my previous purchases aren't showing up on the iTunes store. It says "Purchased" but won't let me download them. Is there any way to fix this?

I've been making my iTunes music purchases on my iPhone for over a year now. I bought a new one so I relied on iCloud to keep my purchases on record. When downloading my songs, I saw that some of them were missing. When I logged into the iTunes store, it said that the albums (yes entire albums are missing) have been "PURCHASED", therefore I can't buy them again. And they don't have that iCloud icon on them to download them (since I have already purchased them). I checked my iTunes account on both my PC and my iPhone and still nothing. These aren't old purchases, but ones that I made a few months ago. Can anyone help me get my music back??

Apple TV shows all menus but won't play videos

Hello. I have a 3rd generation Apple TV, and it has the latest software update...in fact I just reset it because of my problem. I travel through all the menus, including iTunes, Netflix, and HBOGo (Yes, I have accounts on both). When I get to the movie I want I can see the description and all the buttons. When I try to play a video, I get the circle for a second, then the load bar, and then it reverts back to the menu. It does it in iTunes, Netflix, and HBOGO. I have hooked it to two different ISPs and through two different modem/routers, and the same problem happens. This is very new. Did an update just happen? Is anyone else having this problem, and even better, did you figure out how to get around it? Thanks.

My apologies. It turned out that the new system that was on my iMac was responding to the apple remote together with the apple tv. Somehow the iMac was overriding the play of the video by a split second and continually starting airplay and trying to play a nonexistent song. Perhaps this will help someone.

Free music downloads, but won't let me get them

I have never tried to get any of the free downloads before tonight, and when I try, but clicking on Get Free Download , the window pops up for me to buy them, then another window telling me that they are not available for purchase!
How do you get the freebies?

I get them all the time without any problem. But, I think there is something wrong with the iTunes Store tonight. Normally, the freebies are free. Tonight, the store wants to charge for them. Wait until tomorrow and try again.

I updated my itouch 2 gen and it erased all games and won't let me download them again

I have a 2 gen itouch for my son. I went to update it and now I've not only lost everything that was working fine on it, I'm unable to download anything from the app store.

Sadly the ios on the 2nd generation ipod touch is to old to run todays apps. It's ios stops at 4.2.1 and you need at least 4.3 or higher. My advise any apps that are still on it don't uninstall them cause you will never get them back. I have a ipod 2nd gen I got from a co-worker I have only 4 apps that aren't default apps. I use it mainly for videos from my itunes library and music. To have the apps of today you need on the outside a 3rd gen but perferably 4th or better yet the 5th gen. The 3rd gen might be able to have a few of todays apps but you are safer getting a 4th or 5th.

This is PSE 13? If so, it's not a bug, it's a feature. The new adaptive grid view in the organizer, where you see the thumbnails edge-to-edge, doesn't do stacks or version sets. Press. Ctrl+D/Command+D to get back to the old detail view instead.
