Spyder2express doesn't stick

All,
A friend of mine just recently lent me his spyder2express monitor color calibrator thinger and I used it on my newly purchased Asus W3J laptop.
The resulting profile was a lot warmer then what was on it originally.
My big problem is that the color profile does not stay if I leave my laptop and it goes into sleep mode. If I wake it back up, it defaults to its normal color profile. If I go into Display Options, and switch the resolution, the adjusted color profile comes back.
Do you guys have any experience with sleep mode on windows XP reseting your color profile?
Is there a way to just replace the windows default color profile with the one that I've created? so, when it resets, it just resets to the "adjusted".. I'm pretty new to all of this so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks,
NIck

Unfortunately the fix is wait until Microsoft fixes this problem in Vista. Perhaps that fix will also require a software update from calibrator manufacturer too.
Here's a response I got from Colorvision on the Spyder2/Vista issue:
> We are assuming that after the monitor calibration is done the profile does not stick.
> This is a recognized Vista issue. This issue is not caused by the ColorVision application. It is an issue with the Vista OS. This association issue is affecting all color management companies within this arena, not only ColorVision. Our engineers are working with Microsoft to find a solution.

  • International Date Format Doesn't "Stick"

    I have tried to set the international date and time format to "medium" for both the Dates and Times sections, but no matter what I do the change doesn't stick. Upon restart, the setting has reverted to "short". What can I do to get the "medium" setting to stay?

    Hi Jason -
    Not sure if this will work but try deleting the presets that are present, then select 'medium' then add the numerical bits that you want into the empty space by dragging them over. Don't forget to hit OK. After this try logging out to see if it stuck or not.

  • Capture Noise Print doesn't stick

    I had to reinstall Audition CC to restore broken Dynamic Linking with Premiere. Now, whenever I capture a Noise Print then open the Noise Reduction process, it hasn't retained the profile. I have to capture from within the NR process in order to get a print. Simple enough to do but was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this.

    I've also had it happen before and, like you, assumed it was me so I didn't report it.
    Today I was being fairly careful because I was going to write a "did you do xxx" reply to the OP--and my first try didn't retain the noise print where my second one on the same recording did.
    One thing I noticed was that the graphic display appeared to give noise print details but they's wouldn't move when I adjusted the sliders.
    Possibly an intermittant bug?  Certainly one to keep an eye on.
    Edited to add an update:
    Playing with the NR and noise print, it appears that the first time after opening Audition, if you use "Capture Noise Print" (Cntrl P) from the main "twirl down" it doesn't stick.  Subsequent uses of the facility are fine but, once you've closed Audition and re-opened it, you get another "blank".  I suspect the reason I've not noticed this properly before is that I quickly learned there are fewer clicks to simply go into NR and grab the noise print from there rather than get one "on the way in" as it were.
    Anyhow, that's what's happening on my machine.

  • Display brightness setting doesn't stick on power cycle

    The display brightness setting doesn't seem to stick during power cycles on my new 13" i7, it almost always sets itself to full brightness when I turn it on. This isn't really a huge deal but it is kind of a nuisance as I typically keep it around half, why should I be turning it back down every time I boot up???.
    I have un-checked the box through settings for adjusting brightness based on ambient light, and made sure it is in fact staying un-checked.
    I have also reset PRAM a few times now which seems to provide a temporary fix only. After a day or two it's back to square one again.
    Any ideas, or is this a bug that there's currently no fix for?

    Hi, I have recently bought GE60-0ND notebook with Win8 preinstalled which I got rid of in a second I got home, reinstalled with my licensed Win7. Half of things didn't work so I flashed the correct firmware. From that point on everything works perfectly, only brightness control is broken. I simply cannot control my monitor's brightness with my special keys nor in power control setup. So I googled.. and some smart guy recommended a bios flash as well. But when I try, it says either "Problem getting flash information" or "Problem getting bios information".
    Any thoughts how to get the brightness control work?
    Thanks for any kind of advice
    Did you switch the BIOS and the EC Firmware to the Windows 7 counterparts?
    You may want to ask Svet about that error.

  • ITunes browser doesn't stick

    In most of my playlists and my main Music folder I like to keep the browser visible (both in iTunes and for my iPods).
    I recently purchased a new Nano 8GB (4th gen.) and while the playlist browsers stick, the main Music folder's browser keep disappearing, and I have to hit CTRL+B every time I plug it in.
    Is there a way to make it stick ?
    Thanks!

    After trying a billion different things, I finally sucked it up and decided to restore my iPod and that apparently fixed the problem.
    As to why it happened, I have a suspicion that it had to do with plugging the iPod in different USB ports (on the same computer, when my old iPod was also connected). I know it doesn't make much sense, but that's the only thing I can think of.

  • SetArtName - doesn't stick

    I know the answer must be simple.  Any reason why SetArtName doesn't successfully change the name?
    Something must be non-editable or locked but I made sure the parent layer is okay.
    Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Thanks for you reply.
    After I create the art I can change the name manually in the Layer panel but changes that I make in the code don't work.
    Here's my code:
    error = sAIArt->NewArt( type, kPlaceAboveAll, inParent, &outArt );
    if( error != kNoErr )
         return( error );
    uname.FromPlatform( "This should stick!" );
    error = sAIArt->SetArtName( outArt, uname );
    if( error != kNoErr )
         return( error );
    // Test
    string      tempstr;
    ASBoolean   abool;
    error = sAIArt->GetArtName( outArt, uname, &abool );
    tempstr = uname.as_Platform();
    tempstr is "<Path>".  Weird, eh?

  • IOS 5.1 / iPhone 4s - 3G toggle doesn't stick / turns itself back on after reboot.

    I wonder if anyone else has experienced this bug on the 4s with iOS 5.1 ?
    I have:
    Cellula Data > OFF
    Enable 3G > OFF
    After a device reboot I notice the battery is draining fast and I check in cellular data settings and sure enough 3G has turned itself back on.
    I have reported this using Apple Feedback but wanted to see if anyone else has uncovered this bug / can reproduce it. I can reproduce it after each and every reboot.

    I can confirm this behaviour is initiated by the network operator and not the phone. If your phone goes off and then comes on it negotiates with the network and the network then chooses to put your phone into 3G mode.
    For now it's just a matter of remembering each time you have rebooted or reset your device to immediately go and switch 3G off. It would be nice though if Apple could make the user choice stick but it seems this part is actually out of their control due to the way the networks behave.
    Some days when I leave the house I enable cellular data and of course turn 3G off, then I spend the whole day driving around and it stays on Edge the whole day. Other days it doesn't stay on Edge and I notice halfway through the day that 3G has turned itself on again so this is definitely being turned back on by the network operator.
    Just another note: If your 3G is turned off but you see your battery is draining fast for no reason, turn 3G On, wait a few seconds and then turn it Off again. I don't know why but somehow even though it shows off it sometimes seems to not actually be properly off.

  • Adjust Date & Time doesn't stick on export

    I have scanned over 2000+ negatives in a Tiff format. I created a temporary iPhoto Library so I could import them in, sort them in albums, and make some edits (crop and straighten). So far so good. I have now for each album adjusted the date and time (I also checked the box for change original file). My next step was to export these albums to folders with the edit pics to the Finder (The reason is to run a photoshop action on all the pics to remove some scan noise and to convert the Tiffs to Jpeg). The once done I was going to import the final pics to my master Library
    The problem seams to be that when exporting the pics the changes in dates from within iPhoto are gone. The Finder is showing the scan date not the modified dates....
    Any help would be greatly appriciated
    Does anyone know a work around to this problem?

    Tony:
    As Larry pointed out scanned images are not created with the EXIF data fields. Those must use the file created/modified dates.
    I found a way that works for me as far as keeping photos organized chronologically and alphanumerically. I rename them, before importing into iPhoto, with the international date and a brief description as follows: [email protected]. I upload to a folder with the title 04/12/09-Easter @ TH and then drag that folder into the open iPhoto window.
    This gives me an Event with the title I want and the files with a file name that can be easily searched or sorted chronologically or alphanumerically. A little work upfront saves a lot of headaches later down the line.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Server directory doesn't stick in sidebar

    Tiger allowed me to maintain a specific server directory in the sidebar — even after restarting the Mac it would be there. Now, with Leopard, if I want that server directory to show, I have to put it there EVERY time I start the Mac. Having only the top level of a server appear under “SHARED” it not useful. Nobody in our office uses the top level of the server — everyone uses something 5 or 6 levels deep. Isn’t there a way to make that directory ALWAYS appear like it did with Tiger? Apple support said there is a way to do, but could not officially explain how because it is not supported. They suggested posting the question to this forum. Anyone have a procedure for making a server directory stick in the sidebar? Thanks for any help.

    I just did some experimenting and I've come to these conclusions.
    Shared Volumes (or the top level shares on a computer) will go into devices, and you have to set them as login items also to get them to mount at startup. Making an alias to them will also work if you don't want to have them connect at login.
    Folders within shares will only go into Places. You don't have to make an alias of the folder, though.
    I think it has to do with the Mount Point. As the Volumes are Devices in the unix world, they can only show up if mounted. However, the folders are just aliases to network locations so they stay put.
    So, if you have multiple volumes that you don't want to automount at login, mount them, put them in the Devices section, and make aliases to them in a folder that you place in the Dock. Then, you can mount them from the dock and they should then appear in the sidebar.
    Place any folders in the Places section, or do the same as you do with the Volumes.

  • Cover art from web doesn't stick onto Get Info for album

    ABBA Greatest Hits is a CD I have & put into iTunes on my iMac. It lost (I think that's what happened) its artwork when I updated iTunes to 11. iTunes can't find artwork for it. I tried downloading it from the web, but, even though it pastes on the Artwork panel of the album info, it still doesn't show on iTunes. Just a grey rectangle with the music symbol on it.
    What is going on? some friends tell me this is happening with music & other items not purchased from the iTunes Store.
    I would really like to find out how to insert artwork, it is a nice part of the experience...

    If the purchases are from iTunes you should be able to download them again for free (if supported in your region) from the iTunes Store's "Purchased" tab as outlined in the support document, below.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12283
    Alternatively, in iTunes 11, you can simply select "View" from the menu bar and select "Show Music in the Cloud" to show music not locally stored on your computer but stored in iTunes in the Cloud.

  • SMTP password doesn't stick

    I am having problem setting password for the outgoing smtp server in the mail settings. Every time I enter a password it shows up in the Password field ok but when I get out and come back in again, the Password field will show "Optional" and the password I just entered disappeared. What did I do wrong?

    You didnt do anything wrong. I've found the iPhone a little temperamental sometimes when it comes to mail accounts. I would suggest deleting the account, resetting the phone (hold down the sleep and home buttons for 8 seconds until you see the Apple logo), and after it resets, recreate the account on the iPhone. Let us know if the passwords stick this time.

  • Renamed parent directory doesn't stick

    I have a parent directory located on a remote volume on my server. Lightroom chose to name my directory,
    2006 at /Volumes/Photos/JimsPhotos/15D RAW
    This is because there's also another directory on the server named,
    2006 at /Volumes/Photos/JimsPhotos/1D60 RAW
    But I'd rather see the names as, 2006 5D RAW and 2006 D60 RAW. However, when I change the directory names, they stick until I exit and relaunch LR when they get changed back to their originals -- and of course the name is so long I can't read it in the Library.

  • Slideshow's Music Playlist doesn't stick

    Has anyone else been able to set their slideshow music? This feature doesn't appear to be working for me.

  • Mail's "Hide Related Messages" doesn't stick?

    I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and am now running into an issue that I haven't found any information on.
    In Mail I often open up an email into a new window if I'll be referring to it often. With Mountain Lion it defaults this to the "Show Related Messages" view with that white message over the OSX grey background and all the related emails threaded below it. I don't want this. I go up to View -> "Hide Related Messages" and it goes away.... only to return when I restart Mail, restart my computer, log out/in, or even sometimes when I come back from screensaver or the dashboard. I can't for the life of me get this "Hide Related Messages" setting to stick.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Try Mail Preferences/Viewing/Include related messages (uncheck that box). I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and had roughly the same problem which I fixed this way. I prefer to have that as an icon on my toolbar, which you can add by going to the View menu, Customize toolbar, and drag the "show related messages" icon to the toolbar.
