If that's the 64 bit JDK, you should download the 32 bit one.
Then edit \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
SetJavaHome C:\Archivos de programa\Java\jdk1.6.0_10Hope that helps,

  • Bug report: SQL Developer 3.2.09 Crashes for some Replace Regexp

    Hi,
SQL Developer 3.2.09 (tested on Win XP with SQL Developer built-in Java) crashes for some Replace Regexp.
    Try the following:
    New SQL-sheet
    CTRL-R for Replace
Enter "||" (two chars) as search-expression
    Enter "" (nothing) as replace-with-expression
    Check Regular Expressions Check Box
    Hit OK
    -->100% CPU usage, no reaction.
    Can you confirm the bug?
Edited by: blama on Sep 4, 2012 3:48 PM

I believe the pipe character is a regexp meta character and your regexp probaby matches everything repeatedly. If you want to replace the concatenation operator you don't need a regexp.
Having said that, I am using SQL Developer on Linux with Java 1.6.0_33 and I don't get the hang, just replacing the same thing again and again.
On windows with 1.6.0_24, I do get the hang. It may be a java issue.

  • SQL Developer produces blue screen-crash on exit

    Hello,
I downloaded and installed the newest build of the Oracle SQL Developer, but whenever I exit the program it procudes a bluescreen (with some error-messages) for the blink of a second and then reboots my computer. Updating all hardware-related drivers I could find, didn't solve the issue and my system (Win XP Home) is running very stable beside when I try to end SQLdev.
    What can I do?

Maybe Oracle 'has forgotten' to include this information in the SQL Developer software requirements. In the database server requirements you find this statement:
32-bit Windows XP has 2 editions/versions, Professional and Home. Oracle will ONLY certify on Professional.
Despite of officially not supported, many people run Oracle software on XP Home. I think you have a specific driver problem, which hopefully can be solved.

  • SQL Developer crashing when opening or testing a connection

SQL Developer closes abruptly when opening or testing a connection.
    Here's what I do.
    Open SQL Developer.
    Create a connection:
    Connection Name: [some string]
    Username: [username]
    Password: [password]
    Save password: checked
    Oracle tab:
    Connection type: TNS
    Connect Identifier: somedatabasename
Then I click on "Test" and the application immediately quits. No error messages. The app does the same thing if I save the connection and try to expand its node on the list of connections.
Mind you, if I use sqlplus like so:
    [username]/[password]@somedatabasename
    It connects just fine.
I captured the output from the command console after SQL Developer crashed:

    @Jim:
Thanks for your suggestion. After several hours of experimenting, I've managed to fix my problem by copying the ojdbc6.jar from my ODAC installation and replacing the one in [sqldeveloper root]\jdbc\lib

  • SQL Developer 1.1 Crash on connecting

    Hello,
I have a TNS type connection defined which uses the default role and a connect identifier rather than a network alias. When I click test I get a success message but when I click connect then SQL developer waits for a few seconds and then crashes (no error message displayed). Can anyone suggest where to start looking for the cause of this?

I found another post by jayantp from 8-dec-2006 where he suggested copying some files from the oracle client jdbc\lib directory to the sqldeveloper\jdbc\lib directory:
    ojdbc14.jar and
    ojdbs14dms.jar
This works for me but I don't know what the side effects might be. Any thoughts?

  • Sql Developer hangs/ crashes while debugging

While happily debugging a piece of an SQL package using the remote debugger, I get a hang/crash on SQL devleoper. This occurs when I highlight a piece of code in the debugging window. The application freezes and has to be restarted using WindowsTaskManager.
Is this a reported bug? I was not able to find any discussion on the OTN forums or a quick google.

  • SQL Developer 3.2 crashes with java error when using OCI/Thick Driver

I just installed SQL Developer 3.2 on my linux desktop. SQL Developer crashes with a java error when I select a database from the object tree.
When I check Use OCI/Thick driver the application will crash when I navigate to the tree and open a database.
The app does not crash then I have Use OCI/Thick driver unchecked.

I also had the problem of SQL Developer crashing when using OCI/Thick driver but I've managed to solve it. My configuration is:
    - Windows 64-bit
    - Java 64-bit (1.6.0.34)
    - SQL Developer 3.2.09 64-bit
    - OCI Instant client 11.2.0.3 64-bit (without installation).
The thing that solved the problem was copying two files, ojdbc5.jar and ojdbc6.jar, from Instant client installation folder to JAVA_HOME/lib/ext folder+.
After that, I haven't had a single crash or error message.
The same trick that solved the problem on 64-bit installation also solved the problem on another windows computer with 32-bit SQL Developer installation.

  • Crash in "Export" from SQL Developer  Version 2.1.1.64

    Hi,
Did a quick search and didn't find anything on this forum about this problem: any help
appreciated and thus Thanks in advance.
I was using a slightly older version of Developer to dump out a file (via Tools->Database Export)
when the blooming thing crashed in the middle of the export.
I hadn't upgraded the version for a while, so a quick "Check for Updates" revealed a more modern
version. I downloaded that and went through the procedure again, but the crash is as copied below:

The only thing I can think of as being a problem is that the table in question (one of three small tables
I am exporting) has a CLOB column in it and some data in there is HTML format.
If anyone has a workaround, or I can elaborate further, please don't hesitate to drop me a reply.
    Thanks
    Mungo Henning

Many thanks for the "heads up".
I did take a look at the export file and inside it any CLOB's data
that has an apostrophe in it is not escaped.
Some of my CLOBs have HTML in them: if I had to answer the question
"Enter value for nbsp" once, I had to do this several times (the HTML had the
element for non-breaking-space whose sequence is ampersand-nbsp so
with the Defines on it asked me for a value for this substitution variable... sigh).
Looks like my problem has gone away for other reasons (the hosting company have
volunteered to migrate the data), but I wonder whether the SQL Developer
team know about this issue or not.
    Thanks again.
    Mungo

    I've tried...
    - Closing all possible applications except for SQL Developer
    - Rebooting and running only SQL Developer
    - Ensuring SQL Developer is running using the included Java SDK
I'm unsure of what to do next - In the past, I've been able to open 200-300mb SQL files without any issue, but since I've updated to SQL Developer 3 I'm suddenly experiencing these crashes.

You are running out of memory. In the stack notice this line:
Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Edit the sqldeveloper.conf file and add this
    AddVMOption -Xmx1024M
That will bump it up some.

  • SQL Developer Crash

I can make SQL Developer crash in the following way:
Click on the "search" tool on the right side of the screen. Enter a package name to search for. Two results will come back, one for the package body, and the other for the package procedure listing. If you single-click (which I have figured out with trial-and-error) things work fine.
Only problem is on Windows I usually expect to double-click on a dialog box like this, and when I do that I think SQL Developer tries to open two connections at once. Error messages about "connection busy" usually pop up.
The worst scenario, which happens about 40% of the time, is that some sort of weird modal dialog box interaction can happen between the "searching" dialog box and the "connection busy" dialog box. I can't click anywhere else, can't even close SQL Developer from the Windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen. I have to kill it through Process Manager, which usually makes me lose a bunch of SQL queries and whatever else I've been working on.
Suggestion: Prevent/catch double-clicking OR change the "search" form to use double and not single-clicking.
    Anybody else have this experience?
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Sql-developer EA3 Crashed during startup

Hi,I startup sql-developer on my Ubuntu 13.04,and it crashed with errors:
"A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:SIGSEGV (0xb) at ...
JRE version: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (7.0_45-b18) (build 1.7.0_45-b18)
Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (24.45-b08 mixed mode linux-amd64 compressed oops)".
I already tried "ulimit -c unlimited" before starting to enable write core dump.
But if i run sql-developer as root user, then it startup normally,so I suspect it's insufficient privilege  when I startup with normal user first time.I have changed the owner of sqldeveloper & Java to myself but it didn't work(which was owned by root previously).
I don't know how to analyze the core dump nor the error log file created during crash, but I do not want to startup it as root user. So,anybody who can give a solution would be appreciated.

There are some related threads where running SQLDev as root 'fixes' the issue on Ubuntu...it looks like the final solution came down to this
    unset GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID
Try that, or search the forums for the 2-3 other threads around this topic.

  • Sql developer crashing my system

    Hi All,
I have used Oracle SQL developer for more than a year now.
After installing Apache Tomcat 7.0.34, now when I open my Oracle SQL developer its crashing my system.
I downloaded latest SQL developer version(32 and 64bit), tried with jdk version 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7.
I have windows 7(64 bit), Oracle client(32 bit).
Could anybody suggest me how to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Arul

    @Jim:
Thanks for your suggestion. After several hours of experimenting, I've managed to fix my problem by copying the ojdbc6.jar from my ODAC installation and replacing the one in [sqldeveloper root]\jdbc\lib
To whomever has a similar issue: See my original post for what software I was using and their version numbers.

  • SQL Developer crashes under Vista

    Hallo,
i recently installed SQLDeveloper 1.5.3 under Vista w/o JRE. On my Computer i have JRE 1.6.0_11.
When i use SQLDeveloper and give Windows Focus to another Window (e.g. Notepad, Explorer ...) and return to SQLDeveloper with a click on the upper Windows Border SQLDeveloper closes (crashes?) suddenly.
    Any idea?
Another Question.: How can i get rid of the Filetype Association Dialog which opens on every SQLDeveloper Startup?.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

More specifically, someone managed to eliminate the associations issue by granting permissions to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SQL Developer.sqlFile . If that's not possible, you'll have to wait at least for 2.0 for the issue to be fixed.
    Regards,
    K.

  • SQL DEVELOPER QUIT UNEXPECTEDLY

    Hi Folks,
I recently downloaded all the packages of Oracle Instant Client 11.2 from Oracle and installed them on MAC PRO OSX 10.6, I had an error as "Status : Failure -Test failed: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path" every time I use TNS and this has been resolved by checked the OCI thin driver option on Tools-Database-Advance, now when I start the developer from the command line to use the Oracle Home Instant OCI, the developer quit unexpectedly with the the following log report.
I made sure that the environments as ORACLE_HOME, DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH, SQLPATH, PATH, and TNS_ADMIN are set correctly.
    Please help?
Please note that the log is very big which i can't attach all of the contents in the post, let me know you still want me to upload.

    Hi,
This seems similar to a side-issue noted in this thread...
    ObjectViewer (data grid) paste error
The solution for that specific issue was to copy the ojdbc6.jar from the instant client to the SQL Developer installation's
.../sqldeveloper/jdbc/lib directoryNot certain if that is the exact equivalent on a Mac, but there you have the general approach.
    Hope this helps,
    Gary
