SQL Developer 3.0.04.34 ZIP file corrupted
I have tried downloading SQL Developer(Windows 32 bit) numerous times with and without JDK and on multiple computers from Oracle.com, but every time I try to open the zip file it says that it is corrupted. Has anyone else experienced or know of an alternative download site?
I have seen this several times.
I bet you are trying to download from the office.
There are certain firewalls that corrupt the file.
Yes I know you can download other files and they work fine.
Download it from home onto a flash drive and take it into the office.

The solaris 8 (sparc) installation zip file corrupted
I have downloaded twice the zip file from sun website.
but everytime the file can not extracted by winzip.
and say it is corrupted. Help me.Hi, Thanks for the reply,
The Install appears to work OK, but when I execute
"jar -tvf weblogic610sp1_generic.zip" I get Zip errors. I'm interested in
knowing if other apparently successful installs have the same ZipException,
to try and eliminate the possibility that the file might be corrupted?
Thanks,
Simon

Hi.
Definitely sounds like your file is corrupted. This should not be thecase. I downloaded this same file the other
day and it installed ok for me. Try downloading once more (if you haven'talready done so). If you are still
having problems then you should open a case with BEA support.
Thanks,
Michael

Does this mean the zip file is corrupted? (I checked the file size, andit matches

I'm happy to download the file again, but this is the second copy, andthey both
behave the same!

Hi,
I'm trying to download the file

After it finishes the 42mb file I open it with WinZip and get the following error

If you downloaded this file, try downloading the file again.
I've downloaded it again and get the same error.

CliveHi,
You have to first unzip the file and then try the installation and if it does not work

NT 8i Personal Download Zip File Corrupted?
So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name

- O/S + Version: Windows NT
- Error Msg: WinZip - Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive.
Downloaded at least (6) times; getting same error from WinZip; file size is 597,793KB which does not match with description of ~612MB; tried GetRight w/IE & Netscape; what about a proxy server or firewall, would this cause a problem. Tnsnames.ora file does not seem to load in SQL Developer
I've really tried my best to figure this out on my own ... through the Help, this forum, and Internet in general. I apoligize in advance for having to ask this, since I'm sure this is a common issue. This particular form entry was really close:
Database Connections will not load tnsnames.ora
But, I just can seem to figure out why, or where entries from my tnsnames.ora file are loading into SQL Developer.
- I have the TNS_ADMIN system environment variable defined to the directory where tnsnames.ora is stored - C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\NETWORK\ADMIN.
- I do not see a TNS tab as the forum entry above indicates anywhere in SQL Developer - This may be my problem.
It seems that this issue could be cleared up with better directions on how to import tnsnames.ora entries into SQL Developer. Is there any specific direction on how to get your tnsnames.ora file setup correctly with SQL Developer running on Windows XP - Besides the Help which mentions the setup of TNS_ADMIN, but doesn't really tell you what the expected result is, or where the entries will be, or how to verify this is working?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

After testing in our environment, it appears that SQL Developer 1.5.1 (5440) does in fact ignore the TNS_ADMIN environment variable and ONLY looks in the Oracle Home directory (network/admin). We define a central network location for our tnsnames file and have the tns_admin setup to point there instead of locally for our users.
When selecting to add a new connection (in 1.5.1, it works in previously releases... meaning 1.2.something) and selecting TNS, the drop-down remains empty. However, if I exit SQL Developer and then copy the tnsnames file to the local network/admin directory I can then re-launch SQL Developer and the drop-down is populated. Exiting SQL Developer again, deleting the local copy of tnsnames, and then launching SQL Developer yet again results in the drop-down being empty.
All other Oracle-related applications function as expected (as they have for years) using the TNS_ADMIN environment variable.
Any suggestions/ideas? -
Another SQL Developer bug - End of file in comment
I found another SQL Developer bug in version 3.0.0.4.
If I try to compile some package from file (so I open file with package body in SQL Developer and assign it to some connection) with this kind of comment: /* comment */ behind end of package, I get this error
I got Error(1250,28): PLS-00111: end-of-file in commentFunny is, that when the package is compiled directly from the database - it works.
When I try to compile the package from file with this kind of comment --comment behind the end of package, it also works...Hi, I think I finally got it. This looks like an ugly fat bug :)
First, we are not using the .sql extensions. For package specification - we use .pks. For package body - we use .pkb.
Create this script:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE TEST_xxx AS
PROCEDURE TEST_PROCEDURE;
END TEST_xxx; /*0123456789*/Now save this as e.g. "TEST.pks" file. Open this file in SQL Developer and compile it. You will get the "Error(3,27): PLS-00111: end-of-file in comment".
Now look at the result in the database -> Open the package specification from the database and you see this:
create or replace
PACKAGE TEST_xxx AS
PROCEDURE TEST_PROCEDURE;
END TEST_xxx; /*0123456789*The last slash is missing...
Now go back to the file with the package specification and delete one letter from the comment. Compile it again... it works now.
It looks like the length of this kind of comment is limited to 9 characters.
The limitation is there only when:
1) Compiling from file with different extension than .sql !!! If you rename the file to "TEST.sql", SQL Developer opens it as a script file and runs it as a script, so there is no problem with it.
2) It has to be this kind of comment: /* */. One line comments are not limited. -
SQL file does not open in Mac with SQL Developer
Hi,
I have my .sql extension files in mac associated with SQL Developer, but when I open the file SQL Developer does not start; nothing happens.
I checked all the associations and it seems correct.
Any suggestion?
Thanks,

Anyone???Hi Mike,
I can provide solution if you can tell me the registry value(HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sqlwb.sql.9.0\Shell\Open\Command). I believe there is an extra %1 which is causing this.

Let me see if I can get my IT guys to temporarily grant me registry access. As I said above, it's locked down, but maybe if I ask
reeeeally nicely :-) I will keep you posted. Thanks!
EDIT: The IT gods have smiled on me. The value for the key above is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ssms.exe" /dde
Not sure if that helps, but there you go. Thanks!

Hey Mike,
Actually edit didnot trigger the email :)
Change that to
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ssms.exe" %1 /dde
(add %1 and that should fix this forever)

Bulk import of tnsnames.ora file into SQL developer on first run
Is there a way for SQL developer to read the tnsnames.ora file and import all of the connections from that? Near as I can see, I would either have to manually add each of them or import an xml file of some kind...Thoughts?
There's a feature request for this at the Exchange (http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:3634225177876117::NO::P39_ID:4582), but they closed it down like a crack-house :-(
So you just have to continue your manual slave-labours...
Have fun,

Oracle SQL Developer to Informix connections.
I don't believe its supported though I thought I would put it out there.SQL Developer itself does not include any JDBC drivers. The list below shows a selection of databases and drivers available online. A wider selection of JDBC drivers from various vendors can be found at the Sun Microsystems driver database.
To install a driver for SQL Developer just add the driver (ZIP or JAR file) to the dirvers list in the settings dialog.

Mac OSX 10.4.6 SQL Developer Connections
SQL Developer runs fine (either the .app file or sh sqldeveloper from the zip archive) however after creating a connection, which tests fine, when I attempt to connect I get the error:
oracle.jdeveloper.cm.CMException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection.getSessionTimeZone()Ljava/lang/String;

Lindsay. We need to find out the classpath being used by the application. To do this, goto
Help->About and select Properties tab.
Scroll down to java.class.path Name and please post here the Value on the right side.
This value is the classpath and if it got any old or incompatible classes.jar or ojdbc*.jar, then it could case trouble.

i don't know who decided to start tinkering around with the interface but removing the "all" purchased tab was a terrible idea. The movie layout is already bad but now it's worse. I honestly don't know what movies are supposed to be in what genre. I
