SQL-developer 4 EA - connections becomes invisible

When leaving my SQL-developer open over nigth, my connections become invisible. The connections are still open and available but unfortunately invisible.
I have to re-start SQL-developer in order to fix this annoying problem.
I don't know the exact reason for this, Maybee a shutdown of a database or something else.
regards Karsten

I'm experiencing the same issue as KarstenH-dk -- connection window is blank... try to close, reopen window, connections don't reappear -- have to close EA4 and restart EA4 for them to show back up

  • SQL Developer (Cloud connections) to Cart not working

I follow the QBE execise along with Oracle Public Cloud. Why nothing happend when I drag/drop tables in SQL Developer (Cloud connections) to Cart?

Can reproduce same issue in 11gR1.. DIFF works fine in 10gR2.
I noticed that 10gR2 allows something like:
    DBMS_METADATA.SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM(th,'SEGMENT_ATTRIBUTES',0);
and 11GR2 returns error similar to error SQLNAVIGATOR returns while running diff:
    DBMS_METADATA.SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM(th,'SEGMENT_ATTRIBUTES',0);
    end;
    Error report:
ORA-31600: invalid input value 0 for parameter SEGMENT_ATTRIBUTES in function SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM

Its safe to assume that this is SQLDEVELOPER bug. Hope it will be addressed sometime.

  • SQL Developer - database connect problem

    Hello
Just wanted to give SQL Developer a try, downloaded it, unzipped and pointed at Java SDK's java.exe.
It started, I created a TNS connection and successfully passed test. But when I try to connect to database - it errors with following
    java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero

I googled for this error and found nothing suitable
Other development tools including SQL Plus connect an run fine.
I have 10g client, and I connect to 9.2.0.6 database. My OS is Vista Business SP1, so I though it might be UAC issue and tried running as both standard user and administrator, also allowed java.exe and sqldeveloper.exe through firewall. Nothing helped :(
Any settings and ideas that might help will be appreciated.
    Thanks for help

  • SQL Developer-Cannot Connect

Hi, I have the same problem as the person who posted the question
The history is i already have oracle 10g express edition installed on my system but with it I cannot create tables or execute DML or DDL commands so I downloaded SQL developer .
When it came to the connection I wanted to fill in the Hostname , Port and SID in that order it gave me that same error "The network adapter could not establish connection ", and to fill in those spaces I used the link I saw when opening the Human Resources schema in the express edition(The schema came in the express edition and I used it to learn the SELECT statement). so i tried to use that address and it came in this format :- http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4500:1000:3171371893604961
And since SQL told me to fill those parameters as Hostname:Port:SID I felt the use of the last 3 digits i.e 4500:1000:3171371893604961 would have worked but that is what is giving me the error.
I would appreciate the help. Thank you

  • SQL Developer not Connecting to Oracle after Updating java

    Hi,
I am using Oracle 11gR1. Windows XPsp2 OS. Earlier Sql Developer was connecting successfully to Oracle , but when i updated my java Runtime to 'Update 17' (Of version 6), I am getting problem...Something like vendor problem error(tried to connect many times, also restarted system...but same problem persisted).
BUT, at this time when i am writing this problem, I though to check again that problem and get that actual error message....but surprisingly now that error is resolved automatically as if something magic has happened...
I am continuously connected to internet for last 5 hours.
SO, WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM , AND HOW IT IS RESOLVED AUTOMATICALLY?

    Hi ,
once again the same problem. Again i am not able to connect to Sql Developer environment. My JRE is updated to update 18, since then again i am facing the same problem.what could be the possible solution?
The exact error message is "An error was encountered performing the request operation:Io exception:The network Adapter could not establish the connection vendor code 17002"
    Thanks

  • I suspect work of SQL Developer after connect

what want about work of SQL Developer after connect ?
    Thank you very much

Not really my area, and not really a SQL Developer question, but it's using a standard Java SQL connection in this case.
If you do not supply the DNS suffix (perhaps as a suffix to the host or service name), then it must get it from somewhere, probably some OS configuration. For example, on Win XP, I see this from a Cmd console window...
    ipconfig /all
    Windows IP Configuration
            Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : <myhostname>
            Primary Dns Suffix  . . . . . . . : us.oracle.com
            Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
            IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
            WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
            DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : us.oracle.com
...Hope that helps (and corrections welcome),
    Gary

Around a month ago, a similar question appeared on Jeff's block... look for checkText in http://www.thatjeffsmith.com/ask-a-question/
There was no resolution there, so (as the SQL Developer code in that area has not changed) I would tend to think it might have something to do with
    1. Your Locale affecting the Formatter class's parsing of that pattern; or
    2. A bug in the jdk version in use, probably also related to the Locale.
I recommend upgrading to the latest jdk1.7.0_xx update.  If that does not solve the issue, then try changing the Locale.

  • Problem in sql developer while connecting to oracle 11g

when am creating a database connection with oracle 11g in sql developer editor it s throwing network adapter could not establish the connection
    connection name test
    user name system
    password system
    Role default
    Host name localhost
    Port 1521
    SID orcl
Can any one help me to resolve the problem?
    Thanks in advance

    Those parameters probably aren't correct.
Is that 11g on your machine? Try to specify the real IP instead. And sure the listener is up?
Also sure about the SID and port?
    Hope that helps,

  • Added jTDS as third party DB connector to Oracle SQL Developer and connecti

I have followed the directions for adding a third party db connector to SQL Developer however as soon as I do the connection manager form doesn't come up for both adding a new connection and editing an exisitng one. I have posted here as I am having issues finsing information or getting help through Oracle forums.

    Two things:
1 - Confirm you got the jTDS we recommend from here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/omwb-getstarted-093461.html#conf
2 - Confirm you added the entry in the preferences and pointed to the actual JAR file, not just the directory

  • SQL Developer New Connection

    Hello,
I am a student, just downloaded SQL DEVELOPER.
I need to know how to create a new connection. I followed the HELP button under connection and the following directions bellow:
"To create a new database connection, right-click the Connections node and select New Database Connection. Use the dialog box to specify information about the connection (see Create/Edit/Select Database Connection). You can also create a new database connection by selecting an existing connection in that dialog box, changing the connection name, changing other connection attributes as needed, and clicking Save or Connect."
I am getting an error that states the following:
Status : Failure -Test failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
I also added the system generating login SYSTEM but I could not figure out the password. I tried sys, system, admin.
Any help it will be very much appretiated.

Did you create the database, or did it already exist?
The default system password is manager, but you are normally asked to specifiy a password when creating the database.
If someone else created the database, you will have to ask them for the password.

  • SQL Developer Not Connecting After Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Update

I installed Oracle 10g on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 as described in here . All worked fine until after updating Snow Leopard last night with to 10.6.3. First I started getting an Insecure Startup Item Disabled message which I solved with the reply to my message at the Apple forums here . That took care of the first issue but now when attempting to connect with SQL Developer, I receive several errors messages in the log most of which point to the source o.jdevimpl.db.adapter.DefaultContextWrapper with a message starting with "Failed to create naming Context for db connections at url: file:/Users... I assume this is some sort of Jave error perhaps related to the Snow Leopard upgrade. However, I have absolutely no clue how to deal with it. I'm a student taking my first database class so the install of Oracle pushed me to my system knowledge limits.
    Any help would be appreciated!!

  • SQL Developer Problem: Connect Database Windows Wont Show

    Hi,
I have Windows Vista Home Basic and I have installed Oracle XE 10g which works great. However, I need to install SQL Developer too but it wont work. I think it may be a compatibility issue, or else some problem with Java. The thing is that no matter how hard I've tried I couldn't beat all the problems I had with the interface. First of all, when I try to make a new Database connection, the option window won't show. Second, when I enter in Preferences, I cannot choose anything but the general option. Also, I don't know where is the connection window.
I would appreciate all the help you can provide. Trying to start with my school project....
Have a nice day. Thanks in advance.
    Mikywan.
    P.S.: Sorry about my english.

I add these lines at <sqldeveloper>\ide\bin\ide.conf and worked.
    AddVMOption -Duser.language=en
    AddVMOption -Duser.country=US
