SQL Error, ORA-03113 occured
My SQL statment is :
SELECT P.ORDERNO,
CASE
WHEN P.TYPE = '0' THEN
'成人'
WHEN P.TYPE = '1' THEN
'儿童'
WHEN P.TYPE = '2' THEN
'婴儿'
END PSGTYPE
FROM AGENTAREA T, PASSENGER P,
when execute it ,ORA-03113 occured , why ?
AGENTAREA is a view, PASSENGER is a table.
I tryed again, no effact.
SELECT P.ORDERNO,
CASE
WHEN P."TYPE" = '0' THEN
'成人'
WHEN P."TYPE" = '1' THEN
'儿童'
WHEN P."TYPE" = '2' THEN
'婴儿'
END PSGTYPE
FROM AGENTAREA T, PASSENGER P;
It is not the problem of the column named TYPE .
SQL statment can execute correctly:
SELECT T.*,
CASE
WHEN P."TYPE" = '0' THEN
'成人'
WHEN P."TYPE" = '1' THEN
'儿童'
WHEN P."TYPE" = '2' THEN
'婴儿'

Utlrp.sql Error Ora-03113
I install the catpatch for 9.2.0.2 and after shutdown and startup i run the utlrp script and received an Ora 03113 Error in the following line: BEGIN utl_recomp.recomp_serial() unexpected termination of connection. Anyone with the same problem and how can I resolve it.
thx BerndHello,
There are some information in metalink about error linked to "_intel_fast_memcpy.A+18".
Mainly information about bugs ;)
I don't have any Windows Oracle database here, so I can't test, but, don't you have to CONVERT the database in order to switch from 32bits to 64bits? Did you check the Endianness problem against V$TRANSPORTABLE_PLATFORM or V$DB_TRANSPORTABLE_PLATFORM ?
In fact I'm not sure there's a conversion phase needed.. but the 32 to 64 bits phase might be what tricks you down.

Application batch job running got error ORA-03113
Problem: when application batch job running, application system always receive this error: ORA-03113 and job stop.
Application system: dynamic system AX
ORACLE system: ORACLE 10.2.0.4.0
The listener configuration setting is :
INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 0
SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER = OFF
Whether this is the problem of listener setting? "INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 0" indicate 0 seconds or no limit?I only find the error message in the Client server (application server).
below is some example of it.
The database reported (session 56 (mtihz)): ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
. The SQL statement was: "SELECT A.PURCHID,A.PURCHNAME,A.ORDERACCOUNT,A.INVOICEACCOUNT,A.FREIGHTZONE,A.EMAIL,A.DELIVERYDATE,A.DELIVERYTYPE,A.ADDRESSREFRECID,A.ADDRESSREFTABLEID,A.INTERCOMPANYORIGINALSALESID,A.INTERCOMPANYORIGINALCUSTACCO12,A.CURRENCYCODE,A.PAYMENT,A.CASHDISC,A.PURCHPLACER,A.INTERCOMPANYDIRECTDELIVERY,A.VENDGROUP,A.LINEDISC,A.DISCPERCENT,A.DIMENSION,A.DIMENSION2
Object Server 01: The database reported (session 58 (zhlhz)): ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
. The SQL statement was: "SELECT A.SPECTABLEID,A.LINENUM,A.CODE,A.BALANCE01,A.REFTABLEID,A.REFRECID,A.SPECRECID,A.PAYMENT,A.PAYMENTSTATUS,A.ERRORCODEPAYMENT,A.FULLSETTLEMENT,A.CREATEDDATE,A.CREATEDTIME,A.RECVERSION,A.RECID FROM SPECTRANS A WHERE ((SUBSTR(NLS_LOWER(DATAAREAID),1,7)=NLS_LOWER(:in1)) AND ((REFTABLEID=:in2) AND (REFRECID=:in3)))"
but when I use PL/SQL Developer to run the scripts. there is no problem.
And we always met errors when application team run long time batch, about 20 - 30 minutes or even longer.
When they run 5 or 10 minutes job, there is no error occur. -
Error ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel in droppping a table
Good evening,
I am very new on Oracle and I have a problem with some tables. Without any reason, apparently, I can't drop some of my table. Oracle gives me this error:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
and then close the connection of the user.
What I should have to do?
It is very important.
Thanks a lot

SQL Error: ORA-12899: value too large for column
Hi,
I'm trying to understand the above error. It occurs when we are migrating data from one oracle database to another:
Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-12899: value too large for column "USER_XYZ"."TAB_XYZ"."COL_XYZ" (actual: 10, maximum: 8)
12899. 00000 - "value too large for column %s (actual: %s, maximum: %s)"
*Cause: An attempt was made to insert or update a column with a value
which is too wide for the width of the destination column.
The name of the column is given, along with the actual width
of the value, and the maximum allowed width of the column.
Note that widths are reported in characters if character length
semantics are in effect for the column, otherwise widths are
reported in bytes.
*Action: Examine the SQL statement for correctness. Check source
and destination column data types.
Either make the destination column wider, or use a subset
of the source column (i.e. use substring).
The source database runs - Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
The target database runs - Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
The source and target table are identical and the column definitions are exactly the same. The column we get the error on is of CHAR(8). To migrate the data we use either a dblink or oracle datapump, both result in the same error. The data in the column is a fixed length string of 8 characters.
To resolve the error the column "COL_XYZ" gets widened by:
alter table TAB_XYZ modify (COL_XYZ varchar2(10));
-alter table TAB_XYZ succeeded.
We now move the data from the source into the target table without problem and then run:
select max(length(COL_XYZ)) from TAB_XYZ;
-8
So the maximal string length for this column is 8 characters. To reduce the column width back to its original 8, we then run:
alter table TAB_XYZ modify (COL_XYZ varchar2(8));
-Error report:
SQL Error: ORA-01441: cannot decrease column length because some value is too big
01441. 00000 - "cannot decrease column length because some value is too big"
*Cause:
*Action:
So we leave the column width at 10, but the curious thing is - once we have the data in the target table, we can then truncate the same table at source (ie. get rid of all the data) and move the data back in the original table (with COL_XYZ set at CHAR(8)) - without any issue.
My guess the error has something to do with the storage on the target database, but I would like to understand why. If anybody has an idea or suggestion what to look for - much appreciated.

Use SQL Reference for datatype specification, length function, etc.

HI ,
we are facing below issue while activating info object xxxxxxxx
" SQL Error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist " and " CX_RS_SQL_ERROR "
can any one help us out to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
EDK......Hi,
Check the corrections given in the note 990764:
Reason and Prerequisites
Up to now, using a characteristic with its own master data read class as the InfoProvider was not supported. This is now released but it is not available for all modelings. Using the attributes in the query is not supported for characteristics that have their own master data read class. Using the attributes in the query causes a termination. The following errors may occur in this case:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

Only in my PC I get the error ORA-03113
Hi
I have tried to run a simple QUERY (SELECT * FROM marcas;) but if the table has more than 2,000 records I get the error ORA-03113, but if I run the same query in other PC I don't have problems. If the table has less tahn 2,000 I don't have problems in my PC.
I have SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0
Why?...I need help!!!!! tanks!!!Hi,
could be a network problem. Check your Oracle Client installation using others tools like tnsping. Sometime firewalls or similar can interrupt a connection. Check also your pc with applications that use a persistent connection like a long file transfert.
Hope this helps

SQL Error: ORA-01704: string literal too long

how to pass my 10k record string933663 wrote:
The string is through a user interface. So, that interface is using what datatype for the string? What language is the interface written in?
insert into table
select * from table(fn_split('2,4,2,5,7'));Do you understand what a string literal is? You cannot provide a varchar2 string that exceeds 4000 bytes from within SQL. Fact. It just cannot be done.
If you are passing the string from a user interface using a datatype that supports more than 4000 bytes, and you pass it directly to PL/SQL code by calling the function or procedure directly (not using SQL) then you can use up to 32767 bytes for your VARCHAR2.
The code you've posted (which happens to be some of my own code posted years ago on these forums) takes a VARCHAR2 as an input. You would have to change that to accept a CLOB datatype and work on the CLOB instead. However, you still wouldn't be able to pass in a string literal of more than 4000 bytes from SQL for it.
Looking at your other thread: Seperate the string value
... it looks like the 'user' is trying to pass in a table definition. What is it your application is trying to do? Surely you are not trying to create a table at run time?
So explain, what is the business issue you are trying to solve? We may be able to provide a better way of doing it. -

AJC MAILTRIGGER STH Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03113 (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute)An ORA-03113 error would mean that the connection to the database no longer exists so any attempt to get the error message from the the database would result in an error. I think the real issue might be why was the session interrupted.
03113, 00000, "end-of-file on communication channel"
Depending on the front-end tool a pointer error or failure to properly terminate a string could result in corrupting the message to Oracle.
There have been numerous bugs over the years that have resulted in this error message being returned. I notice that the Oracle version, platform, edition, and client tool set are not mentioned in the post. All this would potentially be important information for someone to recognize what might be the problem.
I would look very closely at the code " at hcommon.pm line 1277 "
