SQL SERVER 2012 Instnace Error Windows 8

I am trying to install SQL server 2012. It keeps giving me the Instance error over and over again. I have been trying for a week now and nothing is working. I do have WinRAR. Please Help. Plus I have downloaded the Visual Studio 2010 Shell based on the requirement
for this download. STill no use.

I´m trying to install SQL Server 2012 Express on Windows 8.1 64 bit version. When I reach the point of "Installing Setup Files", of the installation process, the installation seems to halt. I´ve tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of SQL 2012

Error Calculating InstanceID when installing SQL Server 2012 SP1 on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Hello...
I know this issue has been on several tickets but I have not been able to find a satisfactory solution. I am receiving error 0x85640001 "...error calculating instanceid" when I attempt to install SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition DVD.
I have downloaded the ISO for the enterprise evaluation product and tried burning it to a DVD-RW and decompressing the ISO to my desktop for installation without success.
The log files do state the setup process runs into a badimageformat exception.
I had SQL Server 2008 Developer edition installed on this laptop, but I have completely removed all prior SQL Server instances (using the uninstall wizard in Control Panel).
Please let me know what you suggest to correct this problem.

1. Uninstall any SQL Server 2012 component using Control Panel.
2. Download the Evalaution Edition from the following link:

Unable to install SQL Server 2012 Standard: Error code 0x851A0019

I am trying to install sql server 2012 standard edition on windows server 2008R2 but at the end of the installation it is giving me the following error message:

SQL Server 2012 Express error 9002 while restoring a backup from 2008

Hi all,
I have installed SQL Server 2012 Express on my laptop operating with win 8. Then I took the backup in my old laptop with SQL Server 2008R Express / Windows 7 and tried to restore it to the new one.
After it restored it produced an error messaging saying that restore failed. The error code was 9002 and it says due to NOTHING. I checked the log file it is a file of 1024 kb size, not big. When I installed the SQL 2012 I disabled the autogrowth of the
log file (exactly same setting as I had with 2008) The log is not big. I tried to further shrink, no change.
Moreover the db is already there with full records, I can manipulate it. Even take a back w/o problems. What is this issue? Is it resolved?

I have tried to uninstall SQL Server Express 2012 from my lap, during the uninstallation process i am getting the following error:
"An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Setup Support Files cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'sqlsupport.msi'.
What is the reason behind this error?What can i do now?Shall i continue the uninstallation process or stop it,while getting this message?Please help me to solve this error.

Hello,
This issue may be related to some missing MSI cache files. The following article may help you restoring them.

First I want you to try uninstalling SQL Server setup support files using Control Panel, the follow instructions on the following article:

If all the above is not successful, try to manually uninstall it using the following procedure:
1. Uninstall all SQL Server 2012 components you can using Control Panel -> Programs and Features
2. Backup the registry.
3. Delete the following keys in regedit:
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing
SQL Server.
5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.
6. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer like C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server and subfolders.

I am trying to install SQLSERVER 2012 SP1 (cuz my VisioStudios told me to) but the SQLEngine and Replication failed. Looking into the log I get the following:

Perform Forced Manual Failover of Availability Group (SQL Server 2012) and WSFC (Windows Server Failover Cluster)

I have a scenario with the three nodes with server 2012 standard, each running an instance of SQL Server 2012 enterprise, participate in a
single Windows Server Fail-over Cluster (WSFC) that spans two data centers.
If the nodes in the primary data center are unavailable due to data center outage. Then how I can able to access node in the WSFC (Windows Server Fail-over Cluster) in the secondary disaster recovery data center automatically with some script.
I want to write script that can be able to check primary data center by pinging some IP after every 5 or 10 minutes.
If that IP is unable to respond then script can be able to Perform Forced Manual Fail-over of Availability Group (SQL Server) and WSFC (Windows Server Fail-over Cluster)
Can you please guide me for script writing for automatic fail-over in case of primary data-center outage?

+1 to David's comment. I would not suggest to run a script automatically. During such failover you might have data loss and decision has to be made with business owners during disaster.
During such situation, you need to start cluster service in force quorum mode (/fq switch) and then perform manual failover of AG to DR site.

If you run that statement on SQL Server 2012 (or later), you won’t receive any errors.
I receive that error message only when I run that statement on SQL Server 2008.
I didn't try with SQL Server 2012 Express though. I tested with a SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition instance with SP1 CU2, and your statement works.

I have installed SQL Server 2012 Express with Advanced Tools (SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe, downloaded from MS website) on Windows Embedded 8 Standard 64-bit. But, when I try to find SQL Server Management Studio, I realized it's not installed (same installation

I am getting an error when installed a new copy of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 on a newly created Server 2012 that has all its updates. About 90% of the way through the installation this is the error I received below:

I clicked cancel on both errors but I don't know if this will impact my application. After the installation completes I can see everything passed except the Database Engine. Any thoughts on this issue?

Sql server 2012 installation error

can someone please tell me why i am getting an error when i am trying to install sql 2012 SP1. it when i get to the installation it says "sql server Setup has encountered the following error. hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character.Line

According to your description and your error message, when you install SQL Server 2012, check if splinters of an MSDE instance (Microsoft Desktop Engine) was left over from other program. If this hidden instance exists, and the installer perform the RunDiscoveryAction
process, the issue will occur. So I recommend you manually remove a Microsoft SQL Server
Desktop Engine instance (MSDE) by using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, and so on, then reinstall again.
