Sql server installation problem

I'm experiencing difficulties installing sql server on my laptop. I always get "compactibility" related issues

I got this:
"The following error has occurred:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6229",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more
information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F."
Ok I was expecting complete summary file. When asked about complete info do provide complete info.
YOu need to manually install VC++ 2005 SP1 from below link. This is very common issue

    I have uploaded detail.txt at below url.

    Hi Mahesh,
    According to log file, I find the message ‘The setup100.exe.config file was not found, therefore the DTSWizard and SQLWatson app config files were not replaced’. It seems that the SQL Server setup file is not complete. Please check that if the SQL Server
    setup file is corrupted, if it is corrupted, please download it again and reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2.
    However, if there’s no problem with the setup file, please check that if there is third-party software such as anti-virus software on your computer blocking the process of SQL Server installation. In addition, make sure that you choose ‘Run as administrator’
    to launch the setup and configure SQL Server service accounts appropriately with administrator permission during the installation.
    For more details about this error, please review the following similar thread.

  • Managed sql server installer has stopped working sql 2008 r2

    I tried to installed sql 2008 r2 on my windows 7 but unfortunately I got message "managed sql server installer has stopped working"
    1. I tried to program feature on and off feature
    2. I checked setup file is corrupted or not setup file is well in condition
    3. I turn on firewall too.
    then again I tried to installed again same problem I faced.
    please any different way to overcome from this problem!
    regard Bishnu Khaling!

    Hi Bishnu,
    As Shanky’s post, you can post the SQL Server setup log files for analysis.
    According to the error message, it is usually a problem with the installation of .NET Framework on the machine. However, from your description, you try to turn on the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 feature and still fail to install SQL Server 2008 R2.
    Do you reboot your computer after enabling .NET Framework 3.5?
    To further troubleshoot this issue, I recommend you perform the following steps.
    1. Run the below tool to verify the state of one or more versions of the .NET Framework on the computer .
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx
    2. If .Net Frameworks 3.5 cannot be verified in step1, please use the
    .NET Framework Repair Tool to repair it.
    3. If there’s no problem with .Net Frameworks 3.5, and you also have .NET Framework 4.0 or 4.5 installed on the computer, please uninstall .NET Framework 4.0 or 4.5 completely. Then reinstall SQL Server and check if it is successful.
    4. In addition, please make sure that the Windows 7 system is not damaged.
    For more details about the error, you can also review the following blog.

    Hi,
    It seems to me like you have
    1. Previous failed instance of SQL Server installation which subsequently caused further SQL Server installations to fail
    2. The windows account with which you logged into machine to install SQL Server is corrupt
    You can, If possible create a new windows account give it admin privileges and then log into machine using this account
    After you login follow below method to remove failed SQL Server installation
    Uninstall
    Uninstall SQL Server completely from add remove program. Make sure no previous failed installation fragments are present on your system. Please use this
    link for uninstalling existing instance of SQL Server
    . If you have SQL Server 2005
    use this link .
    If you are unable to uninstall SQL Server completely because you deleted SQL Server files and un-installation is giving error please follow below method. This method is tested and suggested on
    this thread and
    Forum .
    Below Solution (about removing reg keys) will work correctly for SQL Server having Just one instance.
    If you have multiple instances and you have messed up SQL Server installation please contact Microsoft Support personal to get better guidance on removal of SQL Server. Please DONT use this method if you are new to SQL Server take help of experienced
    DBA to locate proper registry keys and remove them if you are not confident at all it would be better calling Microsoft Support.
    Note: Removing necessary registry entries might cause SQL Server instance to crash so backup registry before doing changes.
    1. Uninstall the existing SQL Server  and all the components from the add remove program.
    2.
    Backup the registry .
    3. Delete the following keys using regedit:
    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
    4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server.
    5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.
    6. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer.
    7. Reboot the machine.

  • RE: Database (SQL-SERVER) access problem

    Have you used NT Control Panel/ ODBC to set up the ODBC data source name?
    You have to define the data source (database) SecTrade as well as the
    driver to be used (SQL Server). This can be done by selecting the Add
    button on the Data Sources screen in Control Panel/ ODBC.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Forte-Users,
    We have a setup a Sql-Server database on a NT server. In the Forte
    EConsole,
    we have
    setup a ODBC-type Resource for this server, named SERVER2_ODBC. This NT
    server
    is configured as a Client Node in the active Forte environment. Note
    that
    Server2 is not
    the Forte server, but has Forte installed. There is another NT server
    which
    acts as the
    Forte server. NODEMGR and Sql-Server are running on SERVER2.
    In our application, we have a DBSession SO with the database source
    as SERVER2_ODBC, Userid=ForteInstructor. When running the application,
    Forte
    throws an exception, the gist of it being as follows:
    USER ERROR: (This error was converted)
    Failed to connect to database: SecTrade, username: ForteInstructor.
    [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no
    default
    driver specified
    We have tried
    1) Installing ODBC drivers on the NT server (Server2)
    2) Accessing local databases from Forte clients which works fine
    3) Accessing the Sql-Server database through Isqlw (Sql-Server Client
    s/w) -
    It works.
    Could someone suggest what we should try to get rid of this problem?
    Thanks for any help,

  • Sql Server 2008 - problems after incorrect installation of SSIS component

    During the addition of SSIS component to an existing installation of Sql Server 2008 the setup has been made using Sql Server 2008 R2 media.
    Now SSMS shows the following error during the connection to the instance :
    Method not found: 'Int32.Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc.ISfcDomain.GetLogicalVersion()'
    I've tried to remove R2 components and to repair the existing 2008 installation.
    At the moment 2008 R2 Native client and Setup are still present in the list of Programs and Features.
    From previous comments I understand this method is in a Sql Server 2008 R2 assembly, so it seems that SSMS is running as R2 but is using 2008 libraries.
    How can I correct this ?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Be careful uninstalling now SQL Server 2008 R2 components. If you uninstall shared components that are SQL Server 2008
    R2 components the whole SQL Server 2008 instance will be unusable. For more information about having SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on the same computer, please read the following article:

  • How to test a new SQL Server installation

    Hi,
    We are in the process of consolidating several database on a single SQL Server instance.
    We first installed a test server and we want to use this installation as the base for our production server.
    I checked:
    - the server collation is the one required SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AI
    - services are running: SQL Server Database engine, Analysis services, Report Services, Integration Services  are running
    I identified the following problems:
    - SQL Server Agent is not running and I can not start it from the services panes of the computer management
    - When I want to connect to SQL Server Integeration Services from SQL Server Management Studio I get a pop up error message:
    failed to retrieve data for this request (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc)
    acces is denied
    What else should I check?
    We are a small team and I am new to database administration, every advice is appreciated.

    And make sure to configure all the basic configuration as per the requirment... few of them is below... there might be many but its all upto you and your business requirments...
    Memory
    Backup compression
    Error Log
    Securit, logins, aduiting ( Minimum failed and successful logins )
    Ports ( Static or dynamic -- Named Instance )
    Default location of the data,log(ldf),backup -- If you have missed this at the time of installation.
    authentication mode
    disable or change the SA password ( Enforce password policy )
    Service packs and hot fixes, CU's
    Configure all the required basic maintenance jobs
    SQL Service accounts or MSA in case of standalone hosts Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 or later ..
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd560633%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
    Monitoring if required
    Move all the required configuration details from your existing servers using --- sp_configure
    Move all the logins and jobs..
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/918992?wa=wsignin1.0
    Change the databases compatibility level after restoring in new server
    rebuild the index and update the stats once after restoring it in new server.
    Most importantaly review the setup log once after the complete installation.. and sql error log, eventlog..

  • SQL server installation on windows 8.1 never finished.

    Hi,
    i hope someone can help me out.
    I tried several different installations of SQL server management studio, express 2012 and  2014 on my windows 8.1 pro (64), but the installer never ends. I keeps telling me it is in progress on task "install setup files".
    During install, I can wait for hours and finally i have to cancel the installation without success.
    Does anyone have any idea how i can get a sql server and management studio installed on my pc ?

  • BPC 7.0 Server Installation Problem - Cannot connect to reporting services

    I am upgrading from 5.1 to 7.0 version for SAP BPC.  Everything went smooth on the development server (single instance installation including SQL Server 2005 developers edition 32bit, web, reporting and application services on the same server). I tried to repeat the same process on the test server, and the installation went off the rails.  I started with clean installations of SQL Server 2005 on both servers.
    When I try to install the BPC server software, I get to the point of access to the report server, and everything stops. I get the following message: Cannot connect to reporting services.  I have verified the reporting server name, and I have verified that the server name is correct in the installation panel. I have also verified that the reporting server is configured, started, and that there are no errors.
    Any advice?

    Hi Sorin,
    Thanks for the tip, but this was not the case.  The problem was solved by re-loading the OS. Using Windows Server 2003 gave an issue during the re-installation of the SQL Server database. The problem was in the installation itself. After a clean install of both the OS and SQL Server, then SAP BPC 7 worked. The installation does require a number of tweaks, particularly, in my case, the entire Management console must be configured, even if not being used.
    This problem is now solved.
    J.

  • SQL Server Database Problems

    I have been using SQL Server for sometime with my company's product with no
    unusual problems for some time.
    However, having recently installed a Forte repository on a newly setup NT
    machine (Workstation 4, SP4), I have come across problems.
    The code constructs a cusor which requests columns from a table. Some of those
    columns are of int type but when they are retrieved, the values are completely
    different to those that can be seen when writing SQL statements directly from
    ISQL.
    For example, 1 becomes a seven figure number.
    The following code is being used to iterate through the result set and create
    another string which is made from the values concatenated together :
    for CurRow in 1 to outputDataSet.ActualRows do
    outputDataSet.CurrentRow = CurRow;
    for curCol in 1 to outputDataSet.ColumnList.Items do
    outputDataSet.GetValue(curCol,Value);
    if(not Value.IsNull) then
    // If datetime datatype, need some conversion
    if (outputDataset.columnList[curCol].DataType =
    DV_DT_DATETIME ) or (outputDataset.columnList[curCol].DataType =
    DV_DT_DATETIME_NULLABLE ) then
    begin
    tempDateTime.SetValue( Value.TextValue );
    -- The user has entered an invalid Date format.
    exception
    when e : UsageException do
    tempDateTime.DecodeValue(source=Value.TextValue,
    format=dateForm);
    end;
    pResultData.Concat(dateForm.FormatDate(tempDateTime));
    else
    pResultData.Concat(Value.TextValue);
    end if;
    end if;
    if(curCol <> outputDataSet.ColumnList.Items ) then
    -- pResultData.Concat('\t');
    pResultData.Concat(pDelimChar);
    else
    pResultData.Concat( source = '\r\n' );
    end if;
    end for;
    end for;
    This has not occurred on any other installation and the only ideas that I have
    are that :
    i) the ODBC driver is either the incorrect version or has been setup incorrectly
    in some way
    ii) there are problems with the configuration of SQL Server or NT that is
    causing this problem
    Does anyone have any ideas ?
    Thanks,
    Alex

    My recomendation is to debug the web page. Set a breakpoint by clicking on the row say probably at the page load/form load event. Press F5 to start the debug. Click F10 to step over next row multiple times until and unless you get the error message. i.e
    Invalid column name 'UserId'.
    The piece of code which you have posted does not contain any assignment or usage of column name "UserId", therefore post the portion of the code where the error is actually taking place.

  • SQL server 2005 problem with service starting

    I am having a problem starting my sqlserver service. It will not start and therefore i have no access to my sql 2005 server database. This is what in the event log. This database was working fine until i had two drives kill over in a RAID configuration.
    The striping went out with a hitch and no i want to see if anyone have any ideas before i perform a restore. Do i need to run SQL server repair with the installation disk?

    Well from viewing the log it looks like i am in a pickle. Since the SQL service won't start, is there a command or script to run for a database check using powershell? Since it looks like i will be doing a restore, just curious now.

    From above it seems client tools component is missing from Installation or may be problem with Windows installer but I guess this is not issue with windows installer . Can you re download SQL Server package and run again.
