SQL Sever Management Studio intellisense issue in SQL Server 2008 R2 and in SQL Sever 2012

Hi Team,
Intellisense in sql server management studio is working fine when i am accessing the databases in my  local server.
But Intellisense is not working when ever i am trying to connect to the remote servers with the client
I tried different blogs and i tried to configure all the options i have upgraded to some patches upgraded for sql 2008 r2 client to sql 2012 client.
But Intellisense is not working with the remote server databases in the sql management studio .
Intellisense is working in the server but the same is not working when we are trying to access with client from our local machines.
Please provide me help to fix this issue
Regards
Karthik Kattamudi

Did you try to refresh the cache by hitting CTRL+SHIFT+R?
Also, these remote servers, are they SQL Server 2008 R2 as well or different version?
Please mark the answer as helpful if i have answered your query. Thanks and Regards, Kartar Rana

As Visakh16 suggestted that you can download sql 2008 r2 standard and developer editon.
If you have a subscription associated with your Microsoft account, you can download sql 2008 r2 standard and developer editon from below link, but these two editions are not for free:

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 compatibility with TFS 2012?

    Hi all,
I have a client who is planning on upgrading from SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 to SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 but wants to make sure that their installed Team Foundation Server 2012 databases will be ok?
I have found a Microsoft article saying that TFS 2012 support SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 but nothing about SP3.
    Thanks for your help!
    Martyn

    Hi Martyn,
    According to this
article, Team Foundation Server 2012 (TFS 2012) requires SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 or SQL Server 2012. From my point of view, it means that we need to run at least SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 when using TFS 2012, and TFS 2012 can work with SQL Server 2008
    R2 SP1 later version (contains SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 and SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3).
In addition, we recommend you install the latest released service pack for your SQL Server, as service pack includes a number of important fixes that TFS could benefit from.
For TFS issues, for quick and accurate response, I would like to recommend that you ask the question in the Visual Studio  Team Foundation Server forums at
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?category=vstfs . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

  • Upgrating SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 to SQL Server 2014 Standard "UpgradeFeatureSpecificRules: KJRTMUpgradeBlockRule"

I've been searching for HOURS how to resolve this issue:
I am trying to upgrade SQL Server 2008 R2 (Express Edition with advanced services) to SQL SERVER 2014 Standard edition, my first issue was to update the 2008 R2 to Service pack 2 on the first FEATURE RULE TEST, at this time on it's keep saying this:
    ======================================================================================
    Rule Check Result
Rule "SQL Server 2008 R2 Service pack 2 or later is requered for upgrade.: failed.
This SQL Server 2008 R2 features that have been selected to be upgraded to SQL Server 2014 are not at the require service pack. To continue with this upgrade, install SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2 or lager to the selected instance and the shared features.
    =====================================================================================
This is the Configuration Report issue:
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 - System Configuration Check Report
UpgradeFeatureSpecificRules: SQL Server 2014 Setup configuration checks for rules group 'UpgradeFeatureSpecificRules'
        KJRTMUpgradeBlockRule
Checks if the currently selected SQL Server 2008 R2 features to upgrade are at the supported service pack.     Failed     The SQL Server 2008 R2 features that have been selected to be upgraded to SQL Server 2014 are not at the
required service pack. To continue with this upgrade, install SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2 or later to the selected instance and the shared features.
    ====================================================================================
I try after hours and finally did install the Upgrade Advisor and got not issues, the last choice I was to uninstall the Management Studio because in other upgrade express versions got blocked, but in this new version of SQL Server 2014 I don't see any way
    out!!!
    Thanks.

    Hi again
    This is the scenario:
-I have installed the SQL SERVER 2008 R2 With Advanced services (version 10.50.1600.1), and now my guest decide to upgrade to an STARNDARD version which nowadays Microsoft is offering the 2014 version.
-As all IT Support and DBA I try to upgrade to SQL 2014 to check and see with requirements were missing or updates. The first check report only ask to upgrade to SQL SERVER 2008 R2 SP2 (version 10.51.2500.0) which I found in the optional update list and
resolved immediately with the Windows Update service.
-Finally, I realise doing the discovery report (suggested in the last post) is that Windows update only download the service pack 2 for SQL Server 2008 instead of the 2008 R2 (I downloaded manually) then the version was upgrade to 10.52.4000.0
Next time I might download the updates manually and not loosing a lot hours with Windows Update, another point very important is that when SQL Server 2008 R2 is installed, create the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 folder at all programas in the Startup menu:
with the SQL Server Installation Center, but there is not one R2, when you execute this one just show the 2008 installed features.
    Now we are on 12.0.2000.8
Thanks anyway and all of you for your interest!!!

  • Is it possible to have different authentication mode for SQL Server Database Engine and corresponding SQL Server instance?

    Hi,
I have installed the x64 SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with default settings and run MBSA 2.3 (using default settings too). It shows three SQL Server instances: MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS, SQLEXPRESS and SQLEXPRESS (32-bit). For the first, authentication
mode is Windows, for the rest two - mixed. Here https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/03e470dc-874d-476d-849b-c805acf5b24d/sql-mbsa-question-on-folder-permission?forum=sqlsecurity question
about such multiple instances was asked and the answer is that "MSSQL10.TEST_DB
is the instance ID for the SQL Server Database Engine of the instance, TEST_DB", so in my case, it seems that MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS is the instance ID for SQL Server Database Engine  of the SQLEXPRESS instance.
    I have two questions:
    1) How can it be that SQL Server DB Engine instance has different authentication mode than corresponding SQL Server Instance?
    2) Why 32-bit instance reported although I installed only 64-bit version?
Also, this https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/security/en-US/6b12c019-eaf0-402c-ab40-51d31dce968f/mbsa-23-reporting-sql-32bt-instance-is-running-in-mixed-mode-when-it-is-set-to-integrated?forum=MBSA question seems to be related to this
issue, but there is no answer :(.
Upd: Tried on clean Windows 8 installation and Windows 7 with the same result.

Because I DO NOT want the three people who will be having access to the production SQL Server to also have access to the primary host ProductionA.  Since I have to allow them to RDC into the box to manage the SQL Server, I figure why not create
a separate VM for each one of them and they can RDC into those instead.
    Does this make any sense?
Any tips are greatly appreciated.  The main reason for doing this is because the three people who will be accessing the box, I need to isolate each one of them and at the same time keep them off of the primary ProductionA.
    Thanks for your help.
    M
    Hello M,
Since you dont want the 3 guys to have access to Production machine A.You can install SQL Server client .By client i mean SQL server management studio(SSMS) on there local desktop and then create login for them in SQL Server.Open port on which your SQL server
is running for three of the machines so that they can connct. Now with SSMS installed on each machine each can connect to SQL server from there own machine.
I would also like you to be cautious with giving Sysadmin privilege to all three of them ,first please note down what task they would do and then decide what rights to be provided.
Your option will also work but you need to create 3 VM for that .Which is more tedious task.
    Hope this helps

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Std with SQL Server 2005 Express Subscriptions

If we have SQL Server 2005 Express Merge Replication Subscriptions that synch to a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition. Do
the Subscriptions still have same file size limitations even though they synch to a Proper Standard Version of SQL Server 2008?
If so what are these limitations?
What happens in the instance where by the server file becomes huge then the Subscriptions will not allow the data to replicate
as the Express Subscription engine has a file size limitation - or does this not matter??

You will get messages on your SQL Server Express  servers that the merge agent cannot write to the SQL Express database. These messages are difficult to debug as you don't get a warning you have exceeded the size limit on the subscriber.

Yes there can be difference and impact there are few features deprecated in SQL Server 2012 you must be aware about that. Please see

  • Resore SQL server 2008 SP3 database to SQL server 2008 R2 SP1

I have a dump from a SQL server 2008 SP3 server and I'm trying to restore it to SQL server 2008 R2 SP1 server but getting the error:
    Msg 3241, Level 16, State 0, Line 2
The media family on device 'E:\Work\backup.bak0' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family.
    Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
    RESTORE FILELIST is terminating abnormally.
Are these versions incompatible or is it just a problem with the file? If they are incompatible, I could upgrade my target server to SQL server 2008 R2 SP2, would this help?
The exact version info is as follows:
    Source server: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP3) - 10.0.5500.0 (X64)   Sep 21 2011 22:45:45   Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 <X64> (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
    Target Server:  Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1617.0 (X64)   Apr 22 2011 19:23:43   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Developer Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
Thanks in advance for your help.

    SQL server 2008 SP3 is technically a lower version than 2008 R2 SP1
but it was released after it.
The service packs release date don't matter, only the major+minor build versions are important; restore should work in your constellation.
During FTP transfer the file could be damaged, that's possible. The backup file could be also "blocked" by OS because it was download from a different server; then you have to unblock it like every other download file.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 and storage replication

    Hello All !
On a Production site, I have a SQL Server 2008 R2 for a fat application. On a DRP site, I have the same SQL Server 2008 R2 fat application.
The production and DRP sites are interconnected with a physical SAN storage (synchrone replication). SAN LUNs are synchronous replicated (Data + logs).
In this case, is it necessary to keep logshipping beetween the 2 sites or the LUNs replication is sufficient ?
Thanks for advance for your ideas / help - Regards - Have a nice day ! RHUM2

<<In this case, is it necessary to keep logshipping beetween the 2 sites or the LUNs replication is sufficient ?>>
That question is impossible for us to answer, since we don't know your requirements (SLA etc). But if you re-phrase your question, we can give feeback with which you hopefully can make that decision:
What can log ahipping protect me from which SAN replication can't? I can think of a couple of things (others are free to chime in):
Corruption at the page level. SAN replication give you a binary image of the data. If a page is corrupt at site A, it will be corrupt at site B. Log shipping work by retorting transaction log backups.
Delayed log restore. If a problem happens at site A, you can decide to have delayed log restores at site be and restore a log backup until just prior to the accident.
Both above assumes that you know what you are doing have basically have planned for these things. But technically, they are examples of things that log shipping allows for.
