SQL Tracing for session started from Java code

I am working with Oracle 10g on Solaris 9. I am facing a problem when trying to enable SQL Trace for Oracle sessions initiated from Weblogic server. I am querring V$SESSION to get the SID and SERIAL# of those sessions and then using DBMS_SYSTEM.SET_SQL_TRACE_IN_SESSION(<sid>, <serial#>, TRUE); from the SQLPlus (using sys login). But the trace file is not being generated in UDUMP even after some queries are fired from the application. But when I am using the same procedure to turn SQL Trace on for SQLPlus sessions or SQLDeveloper sessions, they are just working fine.
Can anyone please help me out?

Please help.....
There is already a thread
Problem with SQL_Trace for a Session
but there is no solution there.

  • Enable SQL Tracing for Session

    Hi,
    I know how to enable SQL tracing for a session created either through SQL*Plus or like similar tool, but I want to explore is there any way to can we enable sql tracing for a single session which is connected to database through an application.
    ssome time for testing purpose we have a requirement to enable tracing for that user which run batch Job. Now that particular user gets connected to database through application and i want to enable tracing right at that moment. How can I accomplish it.
    Regards,
    Ababsi

    If you don't want to identify database session you can try to create a logon trigger to enable tracing for all database sessions created by a specific Oracle user account. In the following example you need to replace UWCLASS with the Oracle user account for which you want to trace sessions:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER trace_trig
    AFTER LOGON
    ON DATABASE
    DECLARE
    sqlstr VARCHAR2(200) := 'ALTER SESSION SET EVENTS ''10046 TRACE NAME CONTEXT FOREVER, LEVEL 12''';
    BEGIN
      IF (USER = 'UWCLASS') THEN
        execute immediate sqlstr;
      END IF;
    END trace_trig;
    /Reference:
    http://psoug.org/reference/system_trigger.html
    If you want to identify database session you need to query V$SESSION to retrieve SID and SERIAL# of the session you want to trace and then you can use DBMS_MONITOR. See examples in http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/SQLTrace10046TrcsessAndTkprof10g.php

  • Tools for extracting strings from java code for internationalization

    For legacy code with lots and lots of strings what method is typically used to extract strings for internationalization?
    Am I right in thinking you couldnt simply grep for strings, it could get pretty complitcated, especially with escape characters, escaped quotes etc.,
    -SK

    When dealing with legacy code, it is nice to have an application that queries you as it extracts the strings. You have a choice whether to accept the string as a localizable entity or not.
    There are several tools that do this...including some IDEs like JBuilder. Although it isn't a fully supported or robust tool, Sun has a utility for extracting strings in Java source files:

  • Starting exetutable java file from java code

    Hi I was wondering how I can start a executable java file from java code?
    thanks

    Hi Mkaveli,
    Yes, it's possible. If you have a JAR executable, you've just to call the main method of its starter class. For a simple executable class, just call its main method.
    This way :
    SomeStarter.main(null); // if there's no argumentSmall precision : the executable JAR or class must be specified in the classpath of your application.

  • Enabling SQL Tracing for already connected session

    Hi,
    I've a requirement. i.e. my users are connected to db through schema making sessions( As multiple users are connected from single Schema). Now there are certian users which have to run batch jobs and I want to trace there SQL for tunning. I want to know how can I enable SQL tracing for specific user,session,id since it is difficult to trace exact user as multiple users are running the batch jobs.
    I have a strategy to enable tracing at schema level. Can I do this while users are connected and running quries. As normally first we enable the tracing and then run the quries.
    Kindly help me in working out this.
    Regards,
    Abbasi

    You didn't post your Oracle version, but maybe you have DBMS_MONITOR available to you.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to isolate the Sql Statement from Java Code

    Hi
    I Need to know that can we segregate the Sql Statements and convert them to Stored Procedures so as to isolate the Sql statements from Java Code.
    So i have one static web page which uses four select Statements so what i want is to create a stored procedure encapsulating these queries. So that the Java Web Developer will simply call the Stored Procedure instead of using four different SQL Statements.
    Suppose the developer has these four Statements
    Select ename,empno,sal,job from emp;
    select empno,ename,mgr from emp;
    select deptno,dname from dept;
    select emp.ename,emp.empno,emp.deptno,dept,dname fromemp,dept;
    So can i encapsulate these four Sql Statements in one Procedure and the Web developer can call the Store procedure and dont need to write the Sql Statements in his code.
    Can Anybody guide me how to write this Stored type of Store procedure.
    Thanks

    Good afternoon,

    final String connectionURLThin = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@value1:value2:value3";
    I tried to put my 'user' and 'pw' credentials I used when connecting with SQL*PLUS:
    value1=my_user_name
    value2=my_pw
    value3=my_schema
    but it doest work. Besides where could have I to put the 'WORKSPACE" name?

    Yes, the network connection could not be established. Like the error said.
    What you're asking about is the exact reason, but that could be any number of things and not at all related to code. You could have the wrong host, the wrong port. A firewall could be blocking the outgoing connection, a firewall could be blocking the incoming connection. Etc. etc.

  • Access ViewObject from Java code in ADF

    Hello everyone,
    I've got one problem with ADF, which I can't deal with on my own.
    I've created web application that consists of two UI components:
    - table that displays data from database (i've created entity object/view object/application module and drag onto JSF page)
    - button that can refresh table / change data in it (i've got java bean method, that do some logic on view object, which is added as a action to a button)
    My problem is, that i've got SQL query, for example: "select * from dept" and I want to my view object (which I've created before) displays result of this query. How can I do it?
    I don't know how from a java code (in my java bean method) access a view object and execute a sql query on it? I've got some code:
    ViewObject dynamicVO = this.findViewObject("VO1");
    dynamicVO.remove();
    dynamicVO = this.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("VO1", "SELECT * FROM dept");
    dynamicVO.executeQuery();
    but the dynamicVO is always null.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Can u access Oracle9i Reports objects from Java Code?

    Hi,
    How can you access Oracle9i Reports (Rel 2) objects like Body, DataSource, Groups etc from Java Code?
    What are the available APIs?
    I went thru the APIs at http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/docs/Javadocs/oracle/reports/plugin/definition/package-summary.html
    However various constructors stated in these APIs are using classes from "oracle.reports.definition" package which are difficult for me to locate.
    For eg. Report constructor is using oracle.reports.definition.RWReport and there is no API documentation available for RWReport class.
    Please suggest me the site for the above APIs or the method to get a reference to "Report" instance.
    Thanks
    Rakesh.

    Thanks Tugdual for your quick reply.
    Thats exactly what I am trying to do. I want to develop a utility which can have a subset of Report Developer's functionality.
    Currently using Reports Developer & Report Wizard, I can create a report by providing SQL statement and few parameters (like Report Style, Calculated Fields, Template file etc). I want to put all these parameters in a XML file and run my java utility (based on the APIs which I am looking for) which will use these XML parameter file and generate a '.rdf' file.
    Also, could you please suggest me the site for oracle.reports.definition package API or the way to get a reference to oracle.reports.plugin.definition.Report instance.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

  • How to kill a system process from java code.

    Hi,
    i need to kill or remove windows system process like cmd.exe from java code.
    like removing it from end process in task mgr.
    i tried below code but its not removed.
    is there a better way we can do this.
    killing a system process from java code will create any issues?
       public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {

       Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
       p.destroy();
    any suggestions or ideas are really appreciated.
    thanks.

    Hi  jtahlborn, mohan
    yes the process is created from my java code.
    in my code iam creating a process like below and if it is running for a long i need to kill it from java.
    For that " Runtime.getRuntime().exec("taskkill /F /PID " +  7408); " is working fine.
    7408 is my process id in taskmgr created from java and iam manually passing the PID it to kill it.
    But i need to get the PID from java code.
    Thanks for your suggestions.
    Sample Code:
    public static void main(String args[])
            try {
              Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(new String[]{"cmd.exe","/c","start"});
              Field f = process.getClass().getDeclaredField( "handle");

              long procHandle = f.getLong( process);
              System.out.println( "prochandle: " + procHandle );

  • Ttrigger Event Sub-Process from Java code.

    Hi All,
    Is there any way to trigger Event Sub-Process from Java code.
    My requirement is to trigger an Event SubProcess when a Approver clicks on REJECT button in HUMAN TASK.
    One way of achieving this is by placing a gateway after the human task and by validating the human task outcome and there by triggering a call to Event SubProcess.
    But we dont want to put a gateway after the human task. But instead we would like to trigger the Event SubProcess from the ADF task forms itself. ie, by calling a JavaCode.
    Please give me some pointers on achieving this task.
    Thanks

  • Running sqlplus scripts from Java code?

    hi
    I need to programmatically run sqlplus scripts from Java code on a machine that doesn't have sqlplus installed.
    Is there any Java class library available for doing this?

    The Ant approach could probably work for me, thanks for the tip.
    The setup seems rather complex however, given the simplicity of the task. I would prefer just running a Java based SQL*Plus from in a separate process or doing this via an API that would allow me to run SQL*Plus scripts (parse script, substitute variables, run statements).
    Oracle SQL Developer v1.1 appears to include an API that does exactly this.
    The ScriptParser, Substitution and SQLPLUS classes in the oracle.dbtools.raptor.scriptrunner package (oracle.sqldeveloper.jar) seem to do just what I need based on my tests.
    Can I use these classes for this purpose in my application? Is repackaging allowed?
    Does Oracle have any plans for releasing this sort of functionality separately e.g. as part of the Instant Client?

  • How to modify an existing xml file from java code.

    Hi
    I have worked on creating a new xml file from java code using xmlbeans.But if i try to modify an already existing file using java code I am unable to get errorfree xmlfile.
    For example if xml file(studlist.xml) is as below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <StudentList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="D:\kchaitanya\xmlprac1\abc\Studlist.xsd">
         <Student>
              <Name>ram</Name>
              <Age>27</Age>
         </Student>
    <Student>
              <Name>sham</Name>
              <Age>26</Age>
         </Student>
    </StudentList>
    Now suppose i have set name to victor using student.setName,
    and set age to 20 using setAge from javacode,
    the new xml file is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <StudentList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="D:\kchaitanya\xmlprac1\abc\Studlist.xsd">
         <Student>
              <Name>ram</Name>
              <Age>27</Age>
         </Student>
    <Student>
              <Name>sham</Name>
              <Age>26</Age>
         </Student>
    </StudentList>
    <Student>
              <Name>victor</Name>
              <Age>20</Age>
         </Student>
    As observed this is not a valid xml file.But how can i modify without any errors?

    I know it's an old post, but I found this while doing a google search for something else, and don't like to leave it un-aswered
    Just in case anyone has a similar problem... In this case the new elements have been appended outside of the root element
    What you need to do is first get the root element and then append the new children to that, there are several ways of getting the root element, which depend on what you want to do with the elements you get back here's a simple (incomplete) way.
    // gets the root element of the specified file (code not shown)
    Element rootElement= new SAXReader().read(file).getRootElement();Then just append the new elements as below (this is non-generic code and would need to be modified for your situation)
    // write a new student element
    Element student = document.createElement("Student");  // creates the new student
    rootElement.appendChild(student); // ***appends it to the root element***
    Element name = document.createElement("Name"); // creates the name element
    name.appendChild(document.createTextNode("Fred")); // adds the name text to the name element
    student.appendChild(name); // appends the name to the student
    Element age= document.createElement("Age"); // creates the age element
    age.appendChild(document.createTextNode("26")); // adds the age text to the age element
    student.appendChild(age); // appends the name to the studentThen flush ya buffers or whatever and write the file
