SQL Videos for Beginners

The following link has some good videos for anyone learning SQL for the first time.

Hope this helps.

There are many tutorials on MSDN with Linq including SQL Server Express. A good start is this here:

  • Someone please point me to MENU BUILDING video for BEGINNERS.

Hi. I have tried watching dozens of videos, but keep gettinglost as the video assumes you are at least intermediate or better. Example...
    http://vimeo.com/8872147
But I get so lost, it is not even funny.
Is there a series of videos for BEGINNERS? People who know NOTHING?
What I need is to create a very simple menu where I have three videos to choose from and you can click and choose.
Best thing for me to do is give you this example here. The three boxes would each signify the videos.
So again, each of those three pics would be the button to press to get to the corresponding video. I've been trying on and off for almost a year and have never been successful at this. TEXT explanations do not help. They are long winded and being dyslexic, I end up seeing gibberish. I need video tutorials.
I have Adobe CS5 production Premium. Thanks

I haven't read through your post but it's still marked at unanswered; this video goes through a 'motion' menu but it's very well done by an "Adobe Embasidor" easy to fallow and understand it has three parts to completion and includes most information you may need check it out it may help.

  • Some1 know a good pl/sql sites for beginners.

I need to find a good site 4 beginners.
    basic whit easy english.

    >
The underlined section demonstrates my problem with
    some sites.
I would have taken issue with more of the statement than you underlined...
Cursors are of 2 types: implicit and explicit
....... implicit cursors are created by oracle engine
itself while explicit cursors are created by the
    users
Damn, does that mean I can't create implicit cursors, I can only write them explicitly.
...... cursors are generally used in such a
case when a query returns more than one rows ....Erm.... no. All queries are cursors regardless of how many rows they return.
normal pl/sql returning more than one rows givens
error but using cursor this limitation can be avoided
.... so cursors are used ....
    RAOTF,LMFAO.
Writing the query correctly avoids that 'limitation'. If you only expect to get one row then write the query to ensure it returns one row, otherwise you are doing something wrong in your design.
What the hell is "normal pl/sql"?Well, I've seen some pl/sql written by some people and it's definitely not 'normal'. ;)

  • What are the best books for PL/SQL and Forms for BEGINNERS?

I asked about learning Oracle Forms in an earlier thread. Some suggested Oracle training at official Oracle Training centers like Koenig. I just went to the Koenig site. The OCA & OCP Forms Developer Training Boot Camp is a whopping 2,610 USD. That’s like 1/4 Million LKR. It’s more that the yearly salary of both the 2 new developers we got and want to train. That’s out of the question.
Some have suggested shadowing experiences programmers and team coding. Both options are out, since those things don't work here.
Learning from sites such as Francois Degrelle's blog is no good for new people since they will get confused.
I have come to the conclusion that the only way to do is to buy 2 books, one for PL/SQL and another for Oracle Forms, give it to them and ask them to follow the book and learn it and also give a time period like 2 or 3 months.
What are the good books out there for BEGINNERS to learn PL/SQL and Forms?

In addition to the books the chapter Application Developer's Guide - Fundamentals in the documentation is also worth giving a shot:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14251/toc.htm
Just for the record: I believe leaving them alone with the books won't do it. I'd at least define objectives (e.g. $chapters of the books in a week) and after they achieved them I'd test their knowledge of the individual objectives (like it was back in school :p ). By that you have control over how they are proceeding, you can focus on the things they didn't understand and you are able to eradicate some bad habits they might adopt during their studies.
If you don't take your time to train them proper you won't get good developers anyway and you will loose much more time and money...
    cheers

  • Step-by-step tutorial/video for ASP Membership/Role Website with SQL CE 4.0?

I'm looking for a step-by-step walkthough, tutorial, or video for setting up a basic ASP membership/role website using SQL Server Compact 4.0 and the NuGet package "ErikEJ.SqlCeMembership".  Should I be using this on an empty or basic website?
    -BGood

    Thanks ErikEJ.  I looked at
https://sqlcemembership.codeplex.com/ but got scared off by the comment:
"Breaking news - stop using this library:  A Microsoft supplied Provider has been released on Nuget.org, I recommend that you use this going forward, this provider support all SQL Server 2005+ platforms, including SQL
    Server Compact 4.0."
So I downloaded the NuGet Universal Provider instead.  Is it still OK to use the "ErikEJ.SqlCeMembership 2.1 NuGet package"?
    Thanks.

  • Where to download a step-by-step video tutorial of FCP 7 for beginners?

I have searched many websites including the Apple site, but can't find a step-by-step video tutorial of Final Cut Pro 7 for beginners? Could anybody help? It is relatively easy to find such videos for other software products even on Apple's official site.

It sounds like Final Cut Pro Foundations is exactly what you're looking for.
It is presented in a hands-on, "chunkalized" environment where the training stops after every step so you can complete that step in FCP yourself.
    Here's a review:
    http://lafcpug.org/reviews/reviewfcpfoundations.html
The review mentions a disc but the course is now available for download.
You can watch demo movies and download it here:

  • Video Tutorial for Beginners of Photoshop

I just wanted to share a few video tutorials I found useful with learning Photoshop.
If you go to http://www.videotutorialzone.com you will find a number of videos for Adobe Photoshop that will get you started.
These were videos that helped me and I thought I would pass them along to others.

    Hi Bob,
It wasnt meant as spam. If I were spamming I would have posted significantly more.
I was sharing information with others that might be interested. I would think this type of information would be welled received by the community. I didnt make the videos, I'm just sharing what I've found to be helpful.
Apparently you are of the Elite and do not encourage what other people have to share for some that dont have quite the experience you do.
Do you have a suggestion as to HOW to share video tutorials so other could be as good as you?

  • Papyrus Video Tutorials for Beginners

    Hi Everyone,
While learning how to use Papyrus (with thanks for some people in this forum), I recorded a series of Video Tutorials about the basics of Papyrus.
Though focused on the use of Papyrus, in particular for Java models, they also contain a bit of basics of UML.
This is the list of videos I have recorded and made available so far:
UML Tutorial 0.2 - Installing the Eclipse Papyrus plugin for Java UML Modelling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmf8CswqKcs
UML Tutorial 1.0 - Use Case Diagrams in Eclipse with Papyrus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuRDaN_7xq8
UML Tutorial 1.1 - Use Case Scenarios: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsdEHND-YL8
UML Tutorial 2.0 - Basics of Activity Diagrams in Eclipse with Papyrus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4RMgO0gi-k
UML Tutorial 3.0 - Basics of Java Class Diagrams in Eclipse with Papyrus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pim22rLtsW0
UML Tutorial 3.1 - Java Constructors in a Class Diagram in Eclipse with Papyrus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er2w1pfCycA
UML Tutorial 3.2 - Association relationships in a Java Class Diagram in Eclipse with Papyrus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk7AnVk0adc
UML Tutorial 4.0 - Modelling Java Inheritance in Eclipse with Papyrus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-ykJCK_pWY
Will periodically update this list as more videos are released.
You will notice that each video deals with one small topic. I decided to opt for this format to avoid a situation in which people have to listen to a long story before that doesn't interest them to something they wish to learn about.
I have the intention to record videos for every common UML Model, but given I'm doing this in my free time I cannot really put a deadline on it.
Lastly, not sure if putting my videos up here is allowed within the rules of this forum, if it isn't please just let me know.

    Thanks, Karel, for the initiative!
It is greate to see the community get involved in this manner.

  • DVD start menus and books for beginners

I would like to make a custom start menu using a jpg graphic and my own music.  It would just have 2 options start video and scene selection.
I was fumbling around with PE11 yesterday and did it by accident.  I added the picture and then added the audio with drag and drop....but when I tried to do it again, I could not remember what I selected.
Also is there a good book for beginners?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    MHairell
Pending further information, this is what I came up with using
    Premiere Elements 11 Windows
    General/Grid
and its matrix_pal_s_mm.psd (for main menu) and its matrix_pal_s_sm.psd (for scene menu)
My Photoshop Elements is presently not allowing me to open the Photoshop Layer Sets in the .psd files, so I picked the above theme so I could get around having to do that.
This is the first try result
    Main Menu....
    Scene Menu
I tried it out in a DVD-VIDEO standard on DVD, and it did not look that bad.
My advice is to look at the theme as is to see what it is all about, and, if interested in getting a look like above, I will give you the step by step. But, you will need Photoshop Elements or Photoshop for the background exchanges. I did not find a theme where I could get a clean enough background replacement with just the customization within the Movie Theme section of the program. Again, Photoshop Elements that will not open the Layers Sets is OK in this instance since we are not opening any Layers Sets, we are just replacing backgrounds at the .psd level rather than within the project.
If interested, I will post further details which should be quick and easy to follow.
    Thanks.

  • How can get a database like ****.SQL file for test in sqlplus in oracle8i

How can get a database like ****.SQL file for test in sqlplus in oracle8i,I am a beginner, thanks

I'll give it a guess as to what it is you want but I'm afraid you'll have to give some more information to go on. I appreciate it's difficult for people who are beginners or who don't have English as their first language.
Are you trying to run a SQL file? From SQL*plus you can do either of these:
    SQL> start my_file
    or
    SQL> @my_file
N.B.: if th efile has a .sql extension you don't need to include it, but you do for any other file extension e.g.
    SQL> @myfile.run

  • Final cut for beginners

Are there any tutorials for beginners for final cut pro?

I completely agree with the two podcasts.  The MacBreak Studio postcast is by the same author(s) as the Ripple Training videos (Steve Martin - NOT the commedian - and Mark Spensor), and basically are a vehicle to support and garner interest in the training videos as they "touch" on the same material and examples.
There are a couple Crreative Cow tutorials, including some produce by Richard Harrington (Photoshop, After Effects, Premier, FCP, Motion ..... ect.).  I like his as it gives the you good exposure to all the possiblities available, as well as how each produce (Adobe and Apple) can be use to support and enhance the features of each vendors production.
While, ALL these podcasts will, eventually, give the novice insites into FCPX, for me, spending the time progressing through a logically planned, cohessive video course is well worth the cost of either Izzy's, Ripple Training, Linda.com... etc. courses.  I would much prefer spending the $40 on a complete 5 hr course, that will cover 99% of what my client/boss will request, than spending 100+ hrs searching for the same free content AFTER the client asks and I have to say "Let me get back to you on that".
I guess it boils down, is your time worth more than the cost of a course.
I have used many a YouTube search to find a quick answer to a problem, and it is the perfect vehicle if you are just getting into editing, but if you intend on furthering your career, than a course is a no brainer..
For me, that is...  Your milage may very... ;-)

  • Understanding and analyzing spool for beginners

    Hi ,
Can you please suggest basic guide lines for beginners for understanding and
    analyzing spool.
    Thank you

You can spool the SQL to a file using dedicated client by including the /s switch in your dedicated client link. However, I advise that it is better to just view the siebel dedicated client log file as the siebel log file will contain not only the SQL spool but also the Event Context and other useful information as to what Siebel is doing. You need to ensure that the SIEBEL_LOG_EVENTS environment variable is set to 4 on your local machine to get this information.
In the Siebel log file, the following text will precede the SQL spool associated with a business component:
    Begin: Execute SqlObj '[bc_name]'
Where [bc_name] = The name of the business component
There can exist multiple SQL statements associated with instantiating a business component. The first SQL statement is the main core SQL query to instantiate the business component. Then any additional SQL statements exist associated to multi value links that have not got the Use Primary Join set. Also additional SQL statements are generated through calculated fields that perform counts on multi value fields.
The main SQL statement is generated based on the configuration of the business component as such:
    1. The primary table of the business component will be listed last in the FROM clause. For example, the Action business component would have the S_EVT_ACT table as the last table in the FROM clause.
    2. Any fields exposed through the UI will be included in the SQL. If the field is a join, then the join will automatically be included in the SQL. If the field is a MVF where the MVL uses primary join then the join will be included in the SQL.
    3. Any fields that have Force Active = Y, Immediate Post Changes = Y or Link Specification = Y or Required = Y will be included in the SQL even if these fields are not rendered through the UI.
    4. Any calculated fields that use InvokeServiceMethod to invoke a business service would result in additional SQL statements for any queries that are performed within the business service called.
    5. The search specification of the business component will be incorporated into the WHERE clause of the SQL statement. If the user performs a a query through the UI then this would be applied to the SQL WHERE clause also.
    6. The sort specification of the business component will be included in the SQL in the ORDER BY clause.
    7. The business component view mode will be incorporated into the SQL depending on the view mode applied.
    8. Siebel Tools does not always show all joins used by a business component - these are vanilla joins. For example the Contact BC, when the SQL is spooled this shows joins to S_CONTACT_SS and S_CONTACT_BU which are not configured in Siebel Tools but exist by default associated to the Contact BC.
    9. For any joins configured in Siebel Tools, if the Outer Join Flag = Y then the join will be shown in the SQL spool as an outer join. The join will be shown as an inner join if the Outer Join Flag != Y.
