SQLPATH environment variable not read by Sql Developer

Does anyone know why Sql Developer doesn't seem to read the SQLPATH environment variable? I've googled this situation quite a bit with no luck. Am frankly very confused...How can Sql Developer not have the ability to read from the SQLPATH environment variable?
Considering all the scripts out there that have been written for Sql*Plus, with the assumption that the SQLPATH variable has been set to allow for multiple directories?
I feel like I'm just missing something in Tools->Preferences in Sql Developer. I just can't see what it is. As a side note, my overall intention is to enable my team members to run the db build scripts from Sql Developer, rather than Sql*Plus...
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
The closest equivalent is Tools|Preferences|Database|Worksheet|Select default path to look for scripts, but supports only a single directory.
This parameter takes multiple directories. For example in Windows the separation character is ";" . The chooser only allows one directory to be chosen at a time - but multiple paths can be typed in.
SQLPATH reads the environmental variable (it may not read the windows registry setting).
set SQLPATH=C:\Documents and Settings\THE_USER\first;C:\Documents and Settings\THE_USER\second
@first
(reads first.sql from C:\Documents and Settings\THE_USER\first)
@second
(reads second.sql from C:\Documents and Settings\THE_USER\second)
Is that sufficient?
If there is a bug to be logged please provide more details:
Including:
-OS
-SQLPATH (environmental variable or set via preferences)
-worksheet command
-.sql file / reproducible test case
-output
-expected output

  • File- Print not working from SQL Developer 1.2.1 Build MAIN-32.13

    File->Print not working from SQL Developer 1.2.1 Build MAIN-32.13.
    I downloaded sqldeveloper-1.2.1.3213.ZIP and extract to a local directory. From the extracted directory I ran ..\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper.exe from Windows XP sp2. The program itself seems to run just fine but File-Print doesn't do anything. In Help-About, Java Platform is reported as 1.5.0_06 and Oracle IDE is 1.2.1.3213. I'm not sure where to look for what is causing the problem.
    Thanks

    I hadn't tried CTRL-P before but I did today. On the first attempt, I saw a small jump in the memory usage for sqldeveloper.exe as reported in Windows Task Manager. Otherwise, there was no change. A second CTRL-P in the same session produced a further bump but subsequent attempts in the same session produced no further change in CPU or Memory Usage.
    Using Task Manager to monitor this further, I tried File->Print again and saw that sqldeveloper would periodically climb to 1 or 2 percent CPU and consume a little more memory. After a minute or so, though, all activity stops again.
    I do not get a print dialog box from SQLDeveloper using either CTRL-P or File->Print

    sql developer version 2.1.0.63

    Sorry - but I doubt if you will get much help for that ANCIENT version of Sql Developer.
    My best suggestion is to download the current version and see if you still have the problem. There have been HUNDREDS of bug fixes since that version you are using.
    Oracle SQL Developer Downloads
    Take note that the current version REQUIRES a much higher JDK version than what you may be using. And do NOT try to install the new version on top of the old one.
    Install the new version into a totally new folder. You will be ask if you want to import your settings from your current version.

  • Environment variables from ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist not read?

    Hello,
    I repost this from "Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard > Account and Login" since it was advised to me overthere. Sorry if your already read this one before.
    I have a problem defining environment variables that should be visible to all my user processes, not only Terminal. According to the Apple documentation, I need to create a file ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist and define my variables in there.
    Below you can see the exact paths and file name, together with the contents of the plist file:
    <pre>
    /Users/ringods/.MacOSX
    AtrisoBook:.MacOSX ringods$ ls -l
    total 8
    -rw-r--r--@ 1 ringods staff 313 Sep 29 15:35 environment.plist
    AtrisoBook:.MacOSX ringods$ cat environment.plist
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>ANT_HOME</key>
    <string>/opt/local/share/java/apache-ant</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    </pre>
    I then tried a logout/login sequence, but no ANT_HOME environment variable was defined. Even after completely rebooting, the environment variable was still not defined. I checked in a Terminal window using any of the following 3 commands:
    <pre>
    env
    export
    set
    </pre>
    This is on a MacBook Pro running 10.5.5. Am I missing something here? Does anyone know how to resolve this?
    Ringo

    I'm currently experiencing the same issue.
    I find however, if I take out the underscore from the name it works. At least the times I've tried.
    There is a post about using launchd.conf for configuring environment variables, but I couldn't get that to work either.

    Around a month ago, a similar question appeared on Jeff's block... look for checkText in http://www.thatjeffsmith.com/ask-a-question/
    There was no resolution there, so (as the SQL Developer code in that area has not changed) I would tend to think it might have something to do with
    1. Your Locale affecting the Formatter class's parsing of that pattern; or
    2. A bug in the jdk version in use, probably also related to the Locale.
    I recommend upgrading to the latest jdk1.7.0_xx update.  If that does not solve the issue, then try changing the Locale.

  • DB Link not working from SQL Developer

    Hi All,
    I Have two databases say A and B. My DBA has created a DB link and when he logs in to sqlplus directly on the server and he can get the values from the other database. When I'm to get the values from the other database through SQL Developer from my client machine, it is giving me ORA-12154: TNS :could not resolve the connection identifier specified.
    I can access both the databases without any problem and i have the entries for bath in my TNSNAMES.ORA file.
    Thanks in advance.

    Check the dblink ddl. your tnsnames.ora should have exact same word as dblink_authentication as below.
    create public dblink dblink_name connect to username identified by password dblink_authentication;

  • TimesTen Connection Tab Does Not Appear in SQL Developer

    Hi,
    I have followed the following steps as discussed in the Official Docs:
    (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/timesten/sqldev-15313-relnotes-093173.html)
    Prerequisites
    Before you can use SQL Developer to connect to TimesTen:
    Install the TimesTen 7.0.3 or later release of the server or client on the same machine as SQL Developer.
    Make sure the CLASSPATH environment variable is pointing to the TimesTen JDBC driver ( TimesTen_install_dir/lib/ttjdbc5.jar) .
    On Linux systems, execute the shell script TimesTen_install_dir/bin/ttenv.sh or TimesTen_install_dir/bin/ttenv.csh to set up the TimesTen environment before launching SQL Developer.
    Still, there is no tab for TimesTem connection in my SQL Developer, only the ORACLE tab. I am using RHEL 5.5 and I have updated my JAVA to the latest version.
    Am I missing something else?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    i had the same problem. I solved it by:
    changing the classpath in /TimesTen/tt1121/bin/envcfg:
    # Things to add to the CLASSPATH
    my @add_classpath =
    ( "$ttdir/lib/$ttjarfile", # JDBC
    "$ttdir/lib/orai18n.jar",
    "$ttdir/lib/ttjdbc6.jar", # ADDED
    "$ttdir/lib/timestenjmsxla.jar", # JMS/XLA
    "$ttdir/3rdparty/jms1.1/lib/jms.jar", # Sun JMS
    instead of this change (adding the ttjdbc6.jar to classpath) you may edit in the same file:
    $jdkverstr = '5' unless defined $jdkverstr;
    my $ttjarfile="ttjdbc".$jdkverstr.".jar";
    to
    $jdkverstr = _'6'_ unless defined $jdkverstr;
    copy the first line of code after bash in the file /TimesTen/tt1121/bin/ttenv.sh
    and pasting it in the sqldeveloper.sh after the bash
    also you need to change the javahome in sqldeveloper
    /sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper/bin/sqldeveloper.conf:
    mudar: SetJavaHome ../../jdk     to      SetJavaHome /usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0

  • Environment variables not passed through to player in flexunit 4.1.0-beta3

    fyi, to get flexunit-4.1.0-beta3 FlexUnit4AntTasks invocation of flashplayer to not be rejected by the vncserver, i needed to modify the FlexUnitLauncher to pass through the environment variables to the command environment.
    the reason this is required, i think, is the use of Runtime.exec() directly in CustomPlayerCommand -- in flexunit-4.0.0, the same function was accomplished using the ant executor, which does passthrough by default.
    anyway, curious if anyone else has seen this issue, or if i'm doing something dumb.

    ok. i went looking for a JIRA link somewhere around here and couldn't find it.  do you have a URL handy?
    there are a couple of other things too:
    you probably want trustDirectory.mkdirs() rather than mkdir() in TrustFile.java
    you probably want CustomPlayerCommand.setLocalTrusted() -- my player command isn't in the machine's path, but i still want to be able to touch the trust file.  So I copied the trustFile.add() stuff from FlashPlayerCommand.launch() into CustomPlayerCommand.launch().  probably a better solution would be refactoring CustomPlayerCommand to be more like FlashPlayerCommand.
    anyway, if you want patches, tell me where to put them and i'll post some.

    I am able to perform select on the table but not desc/describe. I tried suffixing with schema name , still the same error persists.
    Kindly provide a workaround
    Tnx

    Well 1.1.3 is quite old.
    The best thing to do IMHO is to update to the latest version, it will also enable a load of new features and fixes.

  • Filter not working in SQL Developer 2.1

    I have just upgraded to SQL Developer 2.1 and there seems to be a problem with filtering information in the Data tab. The filters I type in are simply ignored. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?

    I am running XP Pro 2002 with SP3 installed.
    The DB information is below:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production
    "CORE     10.2.0.3.0     Production"
    TNS for Linux: Version 10.2.0.3.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.3.0 - Production
    It will occasionally work when I first log in but generally stops working after the first filtered retrieve. From then on the filter line on the toolbar is just ignored. Entering incorrect sql statements does not produce any errors either. Once it starts it is consistent across all tables.
    The filter option on the header of each column still works, that is the only reason I have not gone back to V1.5.
