SQLPlus 8.1.6.0 and Win2k

Has anyone had issues using sqlplus and win2k. Since I have been upgraded I have lost some features:
1. The current working directory is lost. We used to be able to "set" the directory by doing a file->save as and sqlplus would remember that directory. This was used when running scripts.
2. The cancel query dialog box appears to be gone in this version of sql*plus.
Any ideas?

Installing Solaris 9 on an x86 platform with win98 and win2K

Hi,
There is a Pentium P4 (2.4 GHz) machine with a 40 GB hard disk...
This has 1 primary partition and the remaining is the extended dos partition. In effect there are the following logical drives - C, D, E and F. These are FAT32 partitions and have WIN98 and WIN2K (server) installed on them.
There is a free space of abt 8 GB remaining on which i am trying to install Solaris 9 (via CD). But am just not able to do so.
During the process, i get to the step saying that my disk is to be partitioned and that i could either choose the DEFAULT LAYOUT or manually partition the disk with the fdisk.
Default layout indicates that there would be 1 x86 partition (primary, boot) and the remaining would be a solaris partition - implying that all my other data would get formatted out!!!
When i try to use the fdisk to manually partition the disk, the free space mntd above does not show up!!!
But this is seen when i use the DOS fdisk - i.e. i could create a logical drive on the extended dos partition...
Can some one please help me install the Solaris in the free space i have ?? Thanks.

There is one simple method also..
Instead of Installation disk of Solaris, insert the Software 1/2 Disk, and try to follow the actuall Suninstall method of installing Solaris. Here you will get the option that how to utilize the free space.
I myself have installed more 5 OS on a single Hard disk :) this way. Try this method

SB0220 Live! 5.1 and Win2K HE

I've recently upgraded my OS on my PC from WinME to Win2K. I have a Sound Blaster SB0220/Li've! 5. card installed and Win2K keeps telling me it can't find a Sound Blaster card installed. I've recently moved and can't seem to locate my original install CD. Is there any place I can download the original CD install software? HELP.

CT4760 is actually..a 4 channel sound card (therefore, I think that's why Windows Media Center Editin detects it as Value card) But it does have 5. Digital Output (not analog)
I don't have hands on experience with MCE with me, but try this.
Go to 'Volume Control' in Accessories, click on Options and turn on 'Advanced Options'
There should be an 'Advanced' Button at the bottom of the master volume slider.
Click that and select "Digital Output Only"
Otherwise, you'll have to try to install the right drivers. Its definitely not SB Li've 5.
But since you are using Digital speakers, I dont think you have to worry too much.

What's the best way of creating packages for XP and Win2K *only* for
each package? (If box is XP install this, else if box is W2K install that).

You can use an OS system requirement. XP is 5.1
So you could use >=5.1 for XP Only and <5.1 for your Windows 2000 PCs.

Experiencing Issue with Beasvc.exe and Win2K on WLS6.0SP2

I'm running into an issue with my cluster when I run my nodes as a background service
on Win2K Advanced Server. Nodes are dropping out of the cluster left and right.
There is no trace even in verbose mode that is telling me why my nodes are failing.
All I can see is a reference in the event viewer are the messages below...
"The WebWORKS1 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action. "

Yes we all are. If you bring up the task manager you can kill
appleMobileDevicehelper.exe
appleMobileDeviceService.exe
APSDaemon.exe
when you do not have your ipad/pod connected. this will reduce some of whaqt I think is a memory leak in 10.5
when you connect an ipad and restart itunes those services will re load and you will be stuck with th eissue. I would go into the ipad/pod and turn off auto synching this will help a little as well.
we just need a new release that will address these issues

SQLPLUS 9.2 on Windows and the "&" character

Running Windows XP SP@ and SQLPlus 9.2
using the Insert statement and text with "&" within single quotes within the Insert Statement
The insert pauses and asks for input from the screen and removes the "&" character and the text after it.
I tried escape: "\&" with no lock..
How can I insert the "&" character within a text field delimited by single quotes?

TI C6711 dsk board and Win2k

I am trying to use the TI C6711 DSK board with LabVIEW under Win2k, and this article lays out the procedure:

but whenever I run the dskntreg.bat file it says my printer port is set to SPP not EPP.
I have redone the BIOS to EPP and every other possible option, uninstalled the port etc. and still the same result.
Searching the problem in Google results in a lot of posts with the same problem but so far no fix.
One confusing thing the above article is that it says to "Reconfigure the Windows OS Device Manager to match the new settings in the BIOS", however I can find nothing in "Device Manager" having to do with EPP, and the port address and resources (0x378 and interrupts) match. The computer type is a P3 IBM 300GL (90U) and I have tried this on both SP2 and SP4 of Win2k.
I have sucessfully run the board with WinXP but the student lab we want to use has Win2k boxes in it.

Hi Gerald,
In the Device Manager, under ports, right-click on the LPT1 port and click Properties. Inspect the properties available and see if there is an option to change the settings on the port. It is also possible that the LPT port on the Win2k computer does not support EPP. Check with the computer hardware vendor about this. Just to check, you could install WInXP on one of the Win2k computers to see if the hardware is capable of EPP.

WinXP and Win2k/98

I have successfully compiled my program on window XP but when i try to
compile the same program in either win2k and win87, it doesn't compile
and gives me the error of "cannot resolve symbol".
I am using the same java SDK on all the machines.
So what have i done wrong?

It's hard to say without knowing what symbol the compiler couldn't resolve. But a guess is a Classpath problem. If you post the code around the error it will help.

KT3 Ultra2 and Win2k Bug

;( I recently had to return my KT3 Ultra board. Well, not too recently...it took a month. But no biggie, they sent me another. My reseller went bankrupt so I dealt directly with MSI, and they were very profesional.
They sent me a KT3Ultra2.
I just plugged all my hardware up as it was, and I was going. But after a day I have started to notice a problem that is so fiercly aggravating that I am going to chew my arms off. here we go:
*I am running windows 2000 pro. SP3.
*I have an Athlon 1800+,
*1 Maxtor 40GB Hard drive
*ATI 32MB DDR Graphics card(name escapes me, i'm an audio nerd)
*M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard
*M-Audio Oxygen 8 Midi controller connected to onboard USB(not the bracket)
*I am using a PS/2 mouse and kbd.
*1 generic MAG monitor
while running windows, under a load or not under a load, after about 15 minutes at the most, my mouse will lock. the keyboard still works, and the CPU temperature and usage do not increase. My Midi controller still works. In short, everything runs great, but the mouse just won't last past a few minutes without gagging. X( And yes, I know the mouse works because I've swapped it with others
I have APIC turned off in the BIOS, quickboot disabled, and my FSB set at 133MHz, but no other changes have been made.
I don't hae the manual for THIS board, only the last the Ultra, but the BIOS appears identical. I have the optional D-Bracket connected at the point I connected it on the other board. is this the problem? The LED readout was so helpful....anyways, if anyone here has any advice or help, I would really appreciate it. I'm at a loss. I've done a clean install of windows 2000, and other than optimizing for background services and turning ACPI off(necessary for midi-latency reasons), no changes have been made to it. My previous installation of Win2K did the same thing.

no, one is a generic logitech wheel mouse, the other is a microsoft intellimouse. I had no problems with this on the last board. how are these two boards different?

Cannot compile on win98 and win2k platforms

I wrote a program:

I tried the full path to compile it with jdk1.3 and j2sdk1.4.
Both incurred the same errors:
averfruit.java:11: illegal character: \0
int apple = 20;
100 errors
I also tried to run it on win2k and win98 platforms, same errors.
However, I can compile this program by JBuilder5.
So, what's wrong with my code, the jdk or my OS?

Could you tell me how do you set the env't variables regarding the (1) path and (2) class path to the jdk1.4.../bin/ and jdk1.4.../lib/?

Tomcat 4.0.4 and Win2k Installation

I've installed Tomcat 4.0 on different systems and have never had a problem before, but I seem to be having a problem when trying to install it on my Windows 2000 Server machine.
I installed the J2RE 1.4.0 and then Tomcat 4.0.4 and also set the appropriate Environment Variables (CATALINA_HOME and JAVA_HOME).
The installation, at first, appeared to work just fine. I could start up the server and pull up the sample sites without any problems... except for any JSP page. When I try to open a JSP page (even the sample JSPs that come with the installation) I get the following error:

After being very confused for a day, I have uninstalled and re-installed several times and have recently noticed that there IS a problem with the installation. Near the beginning of the install, in the log window that it displays during installation, I see a line that says:

Has anyone run into this problem? I can't figure out why this is happening. (or even WHAT the problem is exactly!)
There are files that are in the directory that is specified, so it's definitely not a permissions problem.
I haven't seen any other error or warning messages in the log, so I'm assuming this is the problem. (But I suppose it could be something entirely unrelated.)
Any ideas? Anyone? Anyone?

I downloaded the RE instead of the SDK. (Clicked on the link in the left column on the download page instead of the right column. DUH!)
I guess I just figured that since Tomcat installed correctly, my java install was fine.
I'll try it over again, but I'm sure it's fine now.

This means you have two separate VPN server. If you have two public IP for the two VPN servers, there won’t be any problem. But if both the two servers are
behind a NAT, then you cannot deploy VPN which uses a same port. Because we have only one port on NAT device.

is it possible to port with my applet awt.image.BufferedImage?
I've noticed that Win2k without SDK can't find BufferedImage, but I'd like that it can... is it possible to point it withoud configure system?

Sqlplus script to disable alerts and scheduled jobs

We have a painful task after every clone to manually disable oracle alerts (all 1000 of them from alerts -alerts manager responsibility) and also disable scheduled concurrent jobs (again all 1000 scheduled jobs) manually checking all pending jobs.
its ok to have them in prod but not test.
Is there a sql script which can disable ALL alerts and another sql which stops all scheduled request jobs in concurrent requests screen.

A similar query is used as part of the document listed above.
There is a need to change two sets of concurrent requests to prevent execution on a cloned instance.
1) Terminate 'Running' Requests
2) Set Pending jobs to 'On Hold'
1) Set Terminating or Running to Completed/Terminated:

SET phase_code = 'C', status_code = 'X'
WHERE status_code ='T'
