SQLPLUS on Windows Crashes

I have a oracle 8i server which has been installed and is running correctly on Sun Solaris 2.7
I tried to install oracle 8i client on NT/Win98 and I was able to install without any problems. But the problem is whenever I do select on a non existing table the client crashes and gives a Dr Watson error on NT and on Win 98 it simply crashes.
Moreover the oracle CD has a patch directory under which there SQLNET directory and in the install folder there is a PRD file, the release notes asks me to run oracle installer and run the prd file but i get the message there is problem in opening the staging area. Plwase make sure the 'source is valid'...
Any Clue....

    Hi,
Jabber is attempting to repair itself from a conflict with the WebEx productivity tools.  However, it is looking for the original install file (.msi), cannot find it and therefore the repair fails.  To work around this problem you need to:
1 - Download the same version of CiscoJabberSetup.msi that is installed.  You can check the version by finding CiscoJabber.exe in your Program Files directory, right click, Properties and on the Details tab there is a product version.
2 - Copy this file to the location fro which you previously installed Jabber.  For example, if you downloaded the .msi to your desktop previously, do the same here again.  If you got this update as part of an auto update, then copy the file to "%temp%".
3 - Launch Jabber - it should successfully repair itself and launch.
    Thanks,
    Rob.

All Office applications will also try to open a temporary work file in the same location as the source file. This implies the source file directory also needs to be writable for this temporary file. Since the default HFS+ driver provides only read-only access, such temporary files will fail to open, and will cause the application to fail.
As a test copy the file you want to edit, say an Excel spreadsheet from the OSX file system to the C: drive on the Windows side and try to open it. If you look in this directory, you should see two files, the source and a temporary file. You may have to force the temporary file to be opened on a read-write file system, by manipulating the folder for temporary files.

Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out.  --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. For a complete list of Windows OS support, click here.

  • Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1TB causes windows crash and to go in a reboot loop

I bought this Seagate external USB HDD 1000Gb capacity and have been using this for a while. I was able to backup about 500gb of data. This external hdd was permanently hooked on to my computer which has win XP pro (4gb ram, 2.66Ghz CPU Pentium). I have used this only for backing up personal data ,photos and videos.
One day I got the dreaded  blue screen and rebooted my machine. The machine went on a reboot cycle. It used to show BIOS screen then windows logo and back to BIOS screen.
After that I unhooked my external HDD and the machine booted up clean. Now when I try to hook the external HDD and power it on, my windows crashes with the blue screen and shows the ntfs error.
How do i make it work. I have lots of data which I can't afford to lose.

Sounds like the drive has gone bad, not a common problem by any means. If the data is important, there are several data recovery options including Geek Squad. These options are not cheap though.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.2 Print Issues - Windows Crash Error (2 Sided)

Have recently had issueswith our upgrades from 10.1.1 to 10.1.2 in regards to the following:
When printing 2 sided on a Fuji Xerox Firefly C4400 Atheros, application crashes after printing first 4 pages.
Thus, have tried the patch fix that was recommended on cpsid_92870 however this has not fixed the problem.
Have also tried the solution with the duplexing but still same issue, Windows crashes.
Have also tried solution to remove Windows patch KB4332667 and still same issue.
Screen shots will be provided upon request with the errors.
    Currently running:
    Windows XP SP3
    Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.2
Printer Drivers are the latest and over 500 users on network. 485 are working on 10.1.1 which do not have this issue.
Is there any solution or 10.1.3 patch release that will address this issue?
Last Adobe user to work on this was Atul.

Sonal2890, thanks for your inquiry and I will try to provide as much information as possible.
    1. What happens if inspite of using 'Print on both sides', you check Duplex setting from Properties dialog (As you do previously)?
The Adobe Reader X Shuts down and is unable to print and displays a message stating it has incurred a problem. Please note, we are running IE7.
    2. What happens if you print with any other application (Word/notepad)
The documents print fine. IT is only when you print this particular document which is enabled in protected mode and double sided. Have tried the patch and the resolution of unticking the duplex methodology and the issue still persists.
Crash Logs have already been submitted already. Have added the SEnd Error Report that was provided when the error occurs. The PDF stopped printing after page 6 of a 236 page document and provided the error above.

  • Windows Crashing after Auto Update

Windows performed an automatic update last night, and now when I connect my Nano to sync with itunes, Windows crashes and I get the "blue screen". When I reboot everything works fine until I connect my Nano and the same problem occurs. I haven't had any problems up to this point. Any ideas?
    Itunes 6.0.4.2
Dell Latitude D600   Windows XP Pro

    hiya!
what numerical and text codes are you getting with the blue screen? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're just seeing a flash of one, we can use this technique to slow it down a bit:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Windows crashs when playing music with iTunes

    Hi,
I have a problem with my iTunes. Since last week my Windows crashes when I start to listen to music over iTunes. I have already tried to re install Windows and have updated all the drivers for my hardware but there has still nothing changed.
When I'm updating my iPod with iTunes there is no problem. It only crashes when I started to listen to music with iTunes. I can still listen to music over other music programs like Winamp.
Can anybody help me?... or does anybody know what the reason could be for that?

    hi Simon!
I have a problem with my iTunes. Since last week my Windows crashes when I start to listen to music over iTunes.
are you getting a blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it?
if you don't see a blue screen (or just get a flash of a blue screen), use Jonathan's technique to display any hidden ones:

  • Windows crashes upon Java exit.

Firstly, I apologise that I know very little about Java and if I've omitted any important information here I may need precise instructions on how to find it out.
According to the Add/Remove Programs menu, I have 'JS2E Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6', version '1.5.0.60' installed.
My problem is that, in any of the following situations, Windows crashes and I either get a BSOD reporting a 'stop error', or my computer reboots itself:
    1) I exit the Java Control Panel, attempt to clear temporary files using the Java Control Panel, or exit certain settings windows/message boxes from the Java control panel (Always occurs)
    2) I exit Limewire (which I assume has some embedded Java applet) (Always occurs)
    3) I exit a Java executable (.jar file) (Always occurs)
    4) I exit Internet Explorer or Firefox (sometimes occurs. I think it's safe to assume this is when I've visited a site with a Java applet, but I haven't tested this)
    5) I end the javaw.exe process from Windows Task Manager (always occurs)
    6) I attempt to uninstall Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6 from the Add/Remove Programs menu (always occurs. The crash happens a good while into the uninstallation, however)
Is this a known issue? What is the cause/possible cause? How can it be resolved, given that I can't uninstall Java?

This is a long shot, but anti-aliasing and/or video driver problems seem to cause most of the crashes. So try the following and respond back whether it worked or not.
Make sure you have anti-aliasing set to Application-Controlled: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000041100.xml
Make sure you've updated to the latest video drivers.
Make sure Directx is updated to the latest version.
If that still doesn't work read http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=661574 and then try adding to your environment JAVAOPTIONS variable -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false. If that doesn't work try -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true
If the problem was AA, then and you still want to force all 3d applications to use AA and you don't want to keep changing your graphics card display options, you can disable java's use of the Direct3D by setting an environment variable JAVAOPTIONS to -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false. This will allow you to keep your AA settings. Disabling Direct3D is the proposed update to 1.5 (Update 8) to fix this bug. See http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6311320

  • After windows crashes with firefox open profile always needs to be recreated

Anytime windows crashes or my computer unexpectedly restarts and Firefox is open, the "restore session" screen comes up, then no matter what (if anything) is clicked, Firefox promptly locks up.
I have to create a new profile and copy over the profile folder contents every single time. It is very annoying and frustrating.
I have tried deleting the entire profile folder after the crash, no change.
I have uninstalled and reinstall Firefox (with and without thunderbird), no change.
I have even go through the registry and manually deleted any mozilla and firefox key.
It has been going on in releases 4.x, 6, and now 7.0.1

Why not back up your profile (back to the Firefox parent directory), so that you can put it back easily? That way, you save the profiles.ini file as well as the profile.

  • What's the best way to stop motion if Windows crashes?

I am using Visual Basic 6.0 to program some motion moves. I am trying to figure out the best way to stop all motion and turn off all I/Os in the event Windows crashes or stops responding. I have the following:
    NI PCI-7344
    NI UMI-7764
    Windows 2000
    Visual Basic 6.0

We implemented an interlock solution using two digital lines from the PCI-7344-UMI-7764 to an Opto22 G4PB4, 4 place SSR backplane, with Brentek G4 NO and G4 NC dry contact modules wired in series to supply +24V to a larger relay contactor's coil. Also in series with the relay contactor's coil were a machine guard and machine e-stop switch.
The Relay contactor supplies 120VAC power to the servo drives and other devices on the machine.
The LabVIEW application software has to turn one bit on and the other bit off in order to power the relay contactor's coil.
We found that if the PC power is off or the PC looses power, then the contactor will drop out and kill 120VAC power to the drives.
However, if the LabVIEW application or the PC hangs then the 7344's digital
lines remain in the state that they were set before the PC hung.
To totally failsafe this also required a watchdog timer relay where the LabVIEW application has to keep
resetting the watchdog relay with a heartbeat pulse.
If the LabVIEW application fails to turn on it's heartbeat pulse then the watchdog timer relay will also
    kill power to the drives.
There are probably better -simpler solutions to be applied but this worked for us.

  • Executing sqlplus in windows batch file - URGENT

    Hi
Is it possible to run sqlplus.exe thru batch file as follows.
    set PATH=%PATH%;C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\BIN;
    host sqlplus userid=test1/test12@testdev
    sELECT * FROM CASESTATUS
    Thanks
    murali

    hI
It did not work. I have this question.
    1. Do I have to run this opening SQL/PLUS and then submit
    @C:\Test\SQL2.bat
    2. Or from Windows command run SQL2.Bat
I tried both of them , it did not work. If I try from windows , I am getting SQLPlus connection window at all.
    Please help me.
    Murali
    set PATH=%PATH%;C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\BIN;
    sqlplus userid=test1/test12@testdev
Ok so far but your select needs to be in a file if you want this to be executed.
    Put this in, f.ex, run.sql
    >>
    sELECT * FROM CASESTATUS
    >>
    then you can use
    sqlplus userid=test1/test12@testdev @run.sql <complete path if needed>
