Square Flickering around Mouse in Safari 4 topsites, World of Warcraft

Ok, i'd love to be able to get a screenshot of this, but so far i've not managed it. what is happening is, in safari 4, on the topsite page, and in World of Warcraft, (only in windowed mode) there is a square flicker that follows my cursor. at the standard resolution on the screen, it is about the size of the side of a dice, and moves under and behind the path of the mouse. I have repaired permissions, reset the PRAM, re-installed both programs, to no end, the problem persists. i have not noticed it in any other windows or programs. has anyone else suffered this problem? or have any suggestions as to how to correct it? I would really like to fix it without having to do a full system re-install, as i do not currently have an extra drive to back up data to.

Unrecoverable PCI-E error signals hardware problem, whereas the IOAudioStream errors are likely OS X kernel issue (I've seen it before and it is relatively harmless in that it doesn't cause shutdown - only Audio stutter.)
I would recommend running Apple Hardware Test (Insert OS X install disk #1 and press D while booting.)

Hey folks, I have custom pdf presets that are used to output PDFs from Adobe InDesign CS3 on the Windows OS. These presets are in the usual default folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\ and are included with a bunch of the default settings. At any rate, when I open InDesign and choose Adobe PDF Presets from the File menu, all of the settings are visible. However, they all have square brackets around the name, [myCustomIDPDFPreset]. I expect this result from the default job options that ship with Adobe but not in my custom presets. This is an issue because our output scripts use the specific name of the preset to output PDF content so the inclusion of the square brackets causes it to fail. Any thoughts on how the custom presets can appear in the list without square brackets. This was how it worked in CS2. Thks, Wil

When I touch an icon, a square appears around the icon - can't slide the screen

I have the newest iPad and the screen is locked on the home screen. When I try to slide the screen to the left to show other pages on my iPad it doesn't work. Infact, when I touch an icon, a square appears around the icon, I have to double tap the icon in order for it to open. When I go to settings thinking that something on the settings got messed around with, I can't move the screen up using my fingers, I can't move it up at all in fact.
Should I try to remove the sim card to see if it will reset itself? i have tried to turn it on and off. If I remove the sim card, will I lose everything on my iPad?

That's a new one......Removing your sim card would not likely have any effect on this and no, even if you removed your sim card, you would not lose data from iPad.
The first thing I'd try is to reboot your iPad: Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart (you won't lose any data or settings). See if your iPad operates normally after it comes back up.

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature or another one turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver and any other ones off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

What are the square brackets around paragraphs and heads?

I am hoping that someon can hlep me with this topic. I can not seems to find anything on this matter.
I have recieved an InDesign file for a book that we are updating the design and content for. All the text in this file has Square brackets, at the begining and end, of each paragraph or head. I have never seen this before, coming from a Quark background.
The characters are visible in "normal mode", but they disapear when you view in "preview" mode.
Can anyone please tell me what the Square brackets around text means?

If you are using OSX this AppleScript should remove all of the XML tags, but test it carefully on a copy of the document:

What causes the screen to magnify when using wireless mouse in Safari?

Sometime when clicking the mouse in Safari the screen will magnify. Why?

Check your Magic Mouse preferences. There's a preference for zooming the screen in Safari similar to the double tap zoom for iOS devices. You can change that configuration.

Gray squares around mouse pointer

We have a macbook pro 15". Occasionally the computer stops responding and there are gray squares around the mouse pointer as we move the cursor. I called tech support and they said it was out of warrantee. Any help here is appreciated.. I tried resetting the macbook (taking out the battery etc.) still have the problem.

Arghh - Universal Access, Zoom, Box follows mouse pointer!
Don't know why I never spotted it earlier - maybe because it's not something I've ever used or needed to switch on.
Weird it was on after the update though!

Square box around pointer

All of a sudden, a square box of 3 by 4 inches appeared around the pointer.
At the moment it occurred I was in 'Keyboard Shortcuts' of 'Keyboard and Mouse' in Preferences, where I must have touched something.
Any suggestions as to how to free my pointer?

Try this:
In System preferences, go to Universal Access.
Open Zoom and click on the Options button.
Make sure that the "Show preview rectangle when zoomed out" box is not checked.

Imported movie of hard disc not working. Blank square and when mousing over

I have imported about 150 gig of mp4 video into my iMovie event library and no problems until now. The mp4's are stored on my external hard drive (1000gig) and add up to around 105 gig in total. iMovie is also stored on this hard drive. When I import into my event library everything was fine but now I have hit a point where any more mp4's come up in the event library as a blank file, when I mouse over them a still shot comes up of another pre-imported video that has nothing to do with that video and the file plays sound but there is no footage. I still have 50 gig of footage to import before I can start editing my movie.
I still have 750 gig free space on my external drive and I am using a Macbook with 4 gig of memory and 48 gig of 119 still available on my Mac hard drive, is this the problem? Does anyone have any solutions ?

Thanks again Tom, I worked out your clue, being "whoa" as to meaning I shouldn't have moved iMovie onto my hard drive, I have moved it back to my Mac and everything seems to be working fine now, fingers crossed. I am really getting good at importing now, but don't think you'll be rid of me just yet as I have a lot of editing to start in the near future!

Indesign CS4 adds square boxes around images when exporting to PDF

When I export a brochure created in InDesign to PDF, for some reason the .pdf file (only the PDF - the InDesign version doesn't show these) shows faint squares around images/graphics that have shadow effects applied. These appear around photos, as well as graphic objects that have a solid colour background, for example an orange circle. Some suggested rasterizing images in Illustrator and that didn't help. Transparency doesn't seem to be at fault either. Would anyone have any idea what may be causing this and how to remedy the problem?
FYI, the PDF export pre-sets in InDesign are as follows (I only mention options that are checked, the rest are turned off):

BTW, don't use OSX's preview to look at PDFs created by InDesign if they take advantage of high end features such as live transparency.
Preview simply isn't up to the task and you should be using Acrobat or Reader.

Pinkish glow around mouse pointer on external screen.

Since the last update (10.9.1) my mid-2012 macbook air started showing a very peculiar behaviour.
Only when connected to an external monitor and waking up from sleep, the mouse pointer on the external monitor comes with a pinkish glow. Very annoying.
Details:
- it only appears within the external monitor, if the pointer is moved into the macbook screen the defect disappear.
- to make it go away, it is enough to unplug and re-plug the external monitor
- it seems that the shadow and the aliasing around the mouse pointer receives the wrong hue on the ext monitor, but mine is only a guess.
- connection thunderbolt (original apple adapter to dvi)
- monitor iiyama prolite B2409HDS
- it started with the update to 10.9.1. NEVER had a problem before that (since 10.8)
any thoughts? Is there anybody out there with the same issue?

I'm not sure but it could be that I have started experiencing this glow since a Mavericks update ( I didn't have this issue the first months after upgrading to Mavericks).....

It says inthe 2008 post " . . . there is no 'border' support for character styles." I was wondering if maybe in CS6 there is a way to achieve this?

Using back button on mouse with Safari

I just installed Safari and I have a Dell Bluetooth mouse. The mouse has 2 buttons by the left click that allow me to go forward or backwards in pretty much anything but Safari.
Anyone know how to map mouse buttons?

Square traces of mouse pointer - Is this normal?

The macbook pro 13'' 2010 2.4ghz 4gb ram i use at work, when on the applications folder, leaves square traces of the mouse pointer. Is this normal? Its only visible with a bit of zoom (not the full 100% zoom, it starts being visible with just a tad). Is this normal? It only leaves square traces on that applications window. It doesnt leave them on the desktop etc... Is this normal at all???

Check SYSTEM PREFERENCES>DESKTOP & SCREENSAVER>SCREENSAVER>HOTCORNERS and see how they are set up.
It is probably normal based on you settings.
