Squeaking noise when switching screens in iTunes 10

To begin, I have had this problem since iTunes 9. When I click on an album in iTunes (in the view which displays all of the album covers but is not the cover-flow view) and that albums particular songs come up there is a squeaking noise that sounds somewhat akin to polyurethane being rubbed against itself. This sound also manifests itself when leaving the album, searching within itunes or the itunes store, and selecting particular subgenres and albums to view in the itunes store (this is not the entire list of its manifestations, just a good list of examples). Is there any way to stop this noise from manifesting itself?
Thanks to all who take the time to read this and attempt to aid me,
-Nightrise

Interesting.
Are you up to date on your drivers?
If you're not sure, head to your HP drivers and downloads page:
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support_task.html
I'd check in particular for video/display and soundcard/integrated-audio drivers, but if you're behind on anything listed there that is relevant to your particular configuration, now might be a good time to stock up.
Any impact on the squeaks?

  • Not smooth when switch screen on my RMBP

I upgrade my Retian Macbook Pro to OS X Mountain Lion and I found when I switch screen it is not as smooth as it used to be when the computer is running with the Intel graphics 4000. It's kind of dazed for me when switching to wallpapaer. It became better if I choose to use the GT650M but it will use more power. Anyone have the same feeling?

  • Unwanted noise when adjusting screen brightness

Are there any other new iMac (iSight) owners out there experiencing unwanted noise when adjusting their screen brightness to any setting other than maximum? Dimming my screen causes a loud buzzing sound similar to feedback you get with bad grounding.

    Dyummy,
Thanks for posting this link. I am as puzzled as some of those posters are, since this noise only happens under Vista and not in OSX. In my case it also happens in the lower right side of the screen and only when I lower the screen brightness in Vista five or six notches using the F1/F2. If I lower the brightness using the nVidia control panel in Vista there is no sound either. The only problem is that the nVidia control panel is not very good and quite limited at lowering the screen's brightness.
I am still inclined to believe this is a driver/software issue with the nVidia 256MB card or the display. If your screen replacement helps, let us know.
    Thanks,

You can still do it with CONTROL + Arrow keys, the same as 10.6

  • Photosmart 5515 carriage jamming. Grating noise when switched on

When I switch on my Photosmart 5515 the carriage moves over to the right as usual trhen a loud noise of slipping cogs occurs and the carriage jams.
What appears to be happening is that the little doofus that wipes the printhead moves forward as it should but whatever should be telling it that it's gone far enough doesn't seem to be doing so.
I can't see any sensor at the front so I assume it must be under the back where the motors are.
I'd rather not take it apart any further unless I have to. There a lot of precarious looking springs and things under there and I reckon my chances of getting them back on are remote if I dislodge them
Has anyone seen this problem who could tell me what the likely cause is?

Hello Jerakeen, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are getting jams and grinding noises in the carriage path.  I would like to try and help.
I would first suggest performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend following the steps in this document on a 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Thump / Pop noise when switching on / off Zen Stone Plus with Spea

    Hello,
I just bought a 2Gb Zen Stone Plus with Speaker and I was disappointed by a very loud thump occurring when turning on/off the player. Moreover, starting with the player switched off, it is sufficient to press the on button (not necessarily until switching on completes) and the thump is there... each time I press the button! It is like an electrostatic discharge.
The thump is quite dangerous for my ears (for instance using high quality in-ear monitors) and for my 2. speakers system.
Is that normal? Should I return it's

Are you sure this isn't normal?
I hear a sort of electronic cracking sound in my right ear, quite loud and lower volume pop in my left ear after that when turning on the player. I also thought it was just cheap electronics.
I don't want to go trough the trouble of contacting the vendor for an exchange if a new one has the same thing.

  • Screen crack, squeak noise scrolling iPhone 5

    Hey everyone,
So for some time now, my iPhone 5 16Gb whit, makes crack and squeak noise when I scroll and/or pinch to zoom in. The iPhone is almost a year old and has not had any problems, Changes or accidents since. Does anyone have this too? Or should I go to an apple store? Thanks!

Why would it matter if anyone else had this too?  It's not normal.
Bring your phone to Apple while it's still under warranty.  If there's a hardware problem your phone will be replaced.

Sorry to post opposing data: I've had mine since 11/1/06 and have not noticed any clicking/popping... You might want to try restoring your Shuffle in iTunes (Settings tab) and seeing IF that cures it of this behavior.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro make clicking noises when pressure is applied to the unibody?

I purchased a MacBook Pro in late July of this year. Recently, I have noticed that when I begin to type on the keyboard, the unibody will make a faint sound when pressure from my hands is applied to the MacBook. I also notice a faint clicking noise when I pick up the MacBook Pro to move it somewhere. Additionally, the screen hinge makes a faint clicking noise when the screen is opened. Are these sounds normal?

Check if an AASP (Apple Authorised Service Provider) is closer, as some do not trust Geek Squad to diagnose something as simple as "all the keys are missing". But judge for yourself.: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1434

  • ITunes high pitch noise when in full screen on 27" iMac11,1

    Hello,
When running iTunes 10.5.1 in full screen mode on Lion 10.7.2, I get a faint, high pitch noise coming from my speakers.  If I run iTunes in a refular window, the noise does not manifest itself.  I can switch back and forth between one full screen app and iTunes, and the noise goes on and off and only manifests itself in iTunes.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

I think I've found a workaround.  The problem doesn't only happen in iTunes, but also in the Finder's list view when in full screen.
The workaround is to use Shades, a small utility that creates a uniform black color mask over my screen.  All I had to do was set the brightness of my screen to 100%, run shades and lower the "brightness" using that utility to something comfortable for my eyes.
I think the issue comes from the high frequency flicker that the LED back light uses when the screen is being dimmed.  For some reason, the speakers pick up on it when in list view... Why only list view?  Beats me.
Anyway, the Shades prefpane can be downloaded from the following URL:
    http://www.charcoaldesign.co.uk/shades
    I hope this helps.
    All the best!

  • My iphone 3gs is not working properly, when switched on it says 'Update Completed' as though it has just been updated. On the next screen it says to 'Connect to iTunes'. It doesn't, however, connect to iTunes and more often than not just resets itself.

My iPhone 3gs is not working properly and hasn't been since about September of last year. When switched on (Quite often it won't even turn on) it says 'Update Completed' as though it has just been updated. On the next screen it says to 'Connect to iTunes'. It doesn't, however, connect to iTunes and just resets itself over and over until power is gone. Occasionally after switching on and off a few times it functions normally for a few hours and some times even a couple of days but eventually always turns itself off and goes back to the 'Update Completed' screen. Does anyone know what might be causing this and/or a way of fixing it?

  • When I go into iTunes on my Mac is recently takes over the entire screen and I can not get rid of it.  Is there a setting I can change to have it work the old way?

When I go into iTunes (the latest update) now, it takes over the entire screen is difficult to remove.  Is there a setting I can change in it to have it behave the old way?

I presume you are runnning iTunes on either an OS X 10.7 or OS X 10.8 system. Move the cursor to the very top of the screen so that the menu bar appears, then click the blue box with the arrows at the very right corner of the menu bar, or press Shift-Command-F. That will switch iTunes back to a normal window, which it should then remember for future launches.
    Regards.

  • Scrolls to top when switching between screens

Every time I switch between a screen, say my music library or podcasts and my ipod, it jumps back up to the top of the list. When trying to manage my music and podcasts it gets really frustrating because I like to switch back and forth to see what I still need to add, and I end up having to do a ton of extra scrolling. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I'm really tempted to switch back to iTunes 10 just because of this stupid issue.

If you touch the screen - right by where the time indicator is - in the top center of the iPad, the screen that you are on will scroll quickly back to the top of the page. You can also scroll to the top of the page in the mail app - when viewing your list of emails in the window on the left - tap the top of the screen above the list of emails - - and the screen will scroll back to the top.
As far as I can tell - that works in any app where you cans swipe to the bottom of a page - tap the top center by the time in order to scroll back to the top.
EDIT- apparently you can touch the top of the screen anywhere now to scroll to the top from what I just saw in my browser. I am using iCab Mobile and when I touch anywhere in the black area - just inside the bezel - the page will scroll to the top. I could swear you had to touch the middle of the screen at the top, but now I see that any tap at the top will work.

hi, i am having a problem in my ipad 2 , it is not showing main screen just showing a black blank screen in which downloading icon is only shwn which is continously and when i connect to itunes via windows 7 it showing this error (0xE8000065) can any one

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

    Hey 11doski,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the display has a dark screen. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
