SR's awaiting Novell

I have some SR's that have been "awaiting Novell" for quite some time (and it seems neither the technician is getting the SLA alerts, nor are the managers--or they're just ignoring them).
10609776201 - awaiting Novell since April 23
10630781151 - awaiting Novell since June 17
Can someone check as to what's going on? I gave up on the first one and submitted an update to close the SR and they can't even do that right.

thanks, I've got folks looking into them.

  • Why is it so hard to get reqular updates to Service Requests

    I have a number of Service requests that have been running for a long while with no updates.
    That is despite my posting requests for updates and hanging for extended periods of time on the "chat" facility (usually in vain as no-one picks up the chat thread).
    In a couple of cases I have done extensive pre-work and built repeatable test cases etc so there should not be any siginificant delay in getting these issue esculated to the back line for support. If they have been escalated, there is no sign in the SR records.
    It's probably "bad form" but here are specific SR numbers that show the lack of customer feedback..
    10891239511, 10891256291 & 10891420901
    In the latter case i was able to get the SR re-assinged to a new support tech who seemed helpful and promised to send me aun update... then... silence...
    This is very unprofessional as I too have customers and they DEMAND regular updates to any incidents that I'm working on, so this leave me "hanging" which reflects both badly on Me and also on the Attachmate group of companies (Novell, NetIQ, SUSE).
    All I ask is that SR's get regularly updates, even if it's "awaiting backline engineer response , will update in 5 days if they do not respond sooner".

    Most of the time I get good responses to my SRs and I leave feedback
    stating so. The few times I haven't, I push for escalation or I
    contact others I know at Novell and usually it gets resolved. And
    then I also leave feedback about that. NTS isn't perfect, but most of
    the time I am pleased with support.

    hey people,
    Novell's new menu layout from SLED is in gnome's CVS, and there is a howto for obtaining it for ubuntu:

    As for me, i've got aliases set up so any app can be started with a ctrl+alt+space to bring up a custom run dialog, then a 2-3 letter abreviation of the app.
    i got it working on arch, but i do not like the fact we would need an patched gnome-desktop & gnome-panel. i will put up a few packages in the aur when i am done tinkering.
    The patches are needed for the recently used app menu.

  • I don't have an "Adobe ebooks" icon on my Pandigital Novel

    I would like to download books from the library onto my Pandigital Novel.  I have no problems buying books from Barnes and Noble and downloading them but I can't do it for library books.
    Here's what I know so far:
    1.  I have to download the book into my Adobe Digital Edition on my PC and then transfer it to my ereader.  Both devices have been successfully authorized.
    2.  I have successfully done this and dragged the book into the bookshelf for my ereader when it's connected to my PC.
    3.  I unplugged my ereader and waited for it to show up in my library which it never did.
    4.  I have looked up different topics in forums and I think I may have found my problem - apparently I am supposed to have an icon in my applications menu for "Adobe ebooks" - however, I don't have one.  I have scrolled all the way over to the right of that menu and there's nothing that even resembles it.  I tried to download some things from Adobe to make it appear but I'm not having any luck.  I know I'm missing something because when I go to "My Computer" on my PC and look it up in the file for my ereader, it shows that it's there...I just need to figure out how to download it.  When I do a search using my ereader, it finds no files by that name.
    I'm lost, please help!

    PART ONE:
    1) Go to http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaledi…
    2) Scroll down. You should see a brown button that says "Install." Click.
    3) Follow the given instructions.
    4) Once ADE is downloaded, it will ask you to register and active your new program. To do so, you must go back to the website you started at (see above). In the top right hand corner, click "sign in."
    5) On the left hand side of the screen, click the gold button that says "Create and Adobe Account." Follow the given instructions and provide the information in the required fields.
    6) Once you have successfully registered, go back to the ADE program you downloaded and activate your program by giving the email and password you used when creating your adobe account.
    PART TWO:
    1) Go to your local library's website. There should be an option for downloadable media.
    2) Choose your book(s) and proceed to 'checkout.'
    3) Underneath all of your chosen book(s), there will be a button that says "download." Click this and download each eBook individually to an easy-to-find folder on your computer.
    4) Go to the folder on your computer that contains your downloaded eBooks. Open them. They should open into the Adobe Digital Editions program that you just installed.
    PART THREE:
    1) Plug your Pandigital Novel into your computer.
    2) On the program Adobe Digital Editions, underneath the "Bookshelves" on the left hand side of the screen, there should be an option that says "Pandigital Novel" (or some variation of that).
    3) Drag your downloaded library books into that bookshelf.
    4) Unplug your Pandigital Novel.
    PART FOUR:
    1) Go to your home screen.
    2) At the bottom of your PN (underneath the Bookstore and Library), scroll the Application Quick Launch Bar to the right. You should see an application that says "Adobe eBooks." All of your downloaded library books should be there.
    **Don't forget that they are library books and must be returned! To do so:
    1) Open your Adobe Digital Editions program.
    2) On the left hand side underneath the "Bookshelves," open the Borrowed books.
    3) Select the book that you would like to return. A small arrow should appear to the left of the book title. Click this and select "Return Borrowed Item."

    With all of this configured, I can go to the new test site, I do see the form where I can choose either Windows authentication or Forms authentication. I can successfully login with Windows authentication, but forms authentication gives me me an error.
    The server could not sign you in. Make sure your user name and password are correct, and then try again.
    I can successfully login to a LDAP management tool, using the same credentials I entered on the form, so I know the username and password being submitted are correct. I get the following items in the event viewer
    8306 - SharePoint Foundation - The security token username and password could not be validated.

    I monitored the LDAP server and did a packet-trace on the communication happening between the SharePoint server and the LDAP server and it is a bit odd. It goes like this:
    The SharePoint server successfully connects to the LDAP server, binding the ldapserviceid+password
    The LDAP server tells the SharePoint server it is ready to communicate
    the SharePoint server sends an LDAP query to the LDAP server, asking if the name entered in the form authentication page can be found.
    The LDAP server does the query, successfully finds the entered name and sends a success message back to SharePoint
    The LDAP server sends notification that it is done and is closing the connection that was bound to theldapserviceid+password
    The SharePoint server acknowledges the connection is closing
    ... and then nothing happens, except the error on SharePoint
    What I understand is that the SharePoint server, once it gets confirmation that the submitted username exists in LDAP, should attempt to make a new LDAP connection, bound to the username and password submitted in the form (rather than the LDAP service account
    specified in the web.config). That part does not seem to be happening.
    I am at a standstill on this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    OK, our problem was resolved by removing any information about the ASP.NET role manager. Initially, we had information about a role manager defined in three different web.config files, as well as in the SharePoint Central Administration site, where there
    is the checkbox to Enable Forms Based Authentication (you see this when you first create the new SharePoint app, or afterwards by modifying the Authentication Provider for the app.) In either case, you will see two text boxes, underneath the checkbox item
    for enabling Forms Based Authentication:
    "ASP.NET Membership provider name"
    "ASP.NET Role manager name"
    We entered a name for Membership provider, and left Role manager blank.
    In the web.config for the SharePoint Central Administration site, the SecurityTokenServiceApplication app, and the web app we created with FBA enabled, we entered the following:
    <membership>
    <providers>
    <add name="LdapMember"
    type="Microsoft.Office.Server.Security.LdapMembershipProvider, Microsoft.Office.Server, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"
    server="ldap.server.address"
    port="389"
    useSSL="false"
    connectionUsername="cn=ldapserviceid,ou=sharepoint,ou=test,ou=location,o=validobject"
    connectionPassword="validpassword"
    useDNAttribute="false"
    userDNAttribute="dn"
    userNameAttribute="cn"
    userContainer="OU=people,O=validobject"
    userObjectClass="person"
    userFilter="(ObjectClass=person)"
    scope="Subtree"
    otherRequiredUserAttributes="sn,givenname,cn" />
    </providers>
    </membership>
    <roleManager>
    <providers>
    </providers>
    </roleManager>
    useDNAttribute="false" turned out to be important as well.
    So, for us to get LDAP authentication working between SharePoint 2010 and Novel eDirectory, we had to:
    leave anything related to the role provider blank
    configure the web.config in three different applications, with the proper connection information to reach our Novel eDir
    Ensure that useDNAttribute="false" was used in all three on the modified web.config files.
    Since our eDir is flat and used pretty much exclusively for external users, we had never done any sort of advanced role management configuration in eDir. So, by having role manager details in the web.config files, SharePoint was waiting for information from
    a non-existent role manager.

  • Cisco ASA 5505, Cisco VPN Client and Novell Netware

    Hi,
    Our ISP have installed Cisco ASA 5505 firewall. We are trying to connect to our Novell 5.1 server using VPN client.
    I installed VPN client on a laptop that is using wireless connection. I connect using wireless signal from near by hotel and I am able to connect to my firewall usinging vpn client and also able to login in using Novell client for XP.
    When I use same vpn client and Novell client at home that is not using wireless connection, but DSL connection amd not able to login or find the tree.
    The only difference in two machine is laptop using wireless connection and my home machine is using wired connection using DSL.

    If your remote end of the services in question support IPsec IKEv1 as the VPN type then, yes - the 5505 can be a client for that service. At that point it looks like a regular LAN-LAN VPN which is documented in many Cisco and 3rd party how-to documents.

  • Cisco VPN client and Novell and Panda AV

    I have found an issue with one of my clients PC's that prevents him from using network resources over the VPN tunnel.
    PC
    Win XP SP2
    VPN client - 5.0 (Newest download)
    Novell - Client 4.91 SP4 for win 4.91.4
    Panda AC 4.02.40
    Ok here's what happens
    I made a PCF file for a handful of users to connect in and be able to access 2 servers.
    On the machine with the above information installed. It will connect to the VPN. Everything seems fine but if I RDP or ping access to the server it will not go. I then installed it on my machine and it works.
    So I fully investigated the one PC that doesn't work. I noticed in the TCPIP stack of both the Ethernet card and the Cisco adaptor. There is a Novell client and a panda client.
    Now if I uncheck one or the other it works. (I know there's posts about panda not working and the posts are 2 years old) It will work with just panda or Novell. When I check both it fails.
    Now has anyone seen this issue with these two products installed on a machine with Cisco VPN.
    Also, who should this go to, Novell, Panda or both?

    I stated i did that and it works. Each one works when its the only thing checked.
    Thanks
    Though

    Hi,
    I'd like to use the http dynamic streaming functionality in my own video player. So far my investgations have led me to
    1) Try to see how the OSMF have implemented the classes (although I read the code I cant get ay to compile so I have abandoned this thread)
    2) Looked at earlier tutorials highlighting the use of rtmp dynamic classes (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/dynstream_advanced_pt1.html) although this alludes to the newer http features there is no example and what there is uses Flash as an environment
    3) Browsed the forums.
    We use flex to build our player. Is there an "from scratch" example of how to code a http dynamic player in code.

  • Wait/notify, await/signal, faster blockingqueue that scales with N threads

    Hi,
    I have been benchmarking a blockingqueue. It holds 100 items before writers block. It uses not-empty/not-full semaphores. Typical stuff.
    I have noticed that with 1 writer and 1 reader threads, using synchronized()+wait/notify is faster than reentrantlock+await/signal.
    I tried to find the point (in number of W/R threads) where reentrant lock is better.
    For the remainder os the discussion, I must say that I never use 'fair' rentrantlocks: I tested them and they are always slower than synchronized.
    So, I always use 'unfair' locks.
    The thing is, the tests results are messed up. I mean I would expect a monotonous progression in reentrant lock performance as the number of W/R threads is increasing. But the reality (on a dual core dual opteron) shows strange progressions. Without diving into numbers...
    I would like to hear about the experiences of other people relatively to:
    -queue implementations and readers semaphore, writers semaphores most efficient patterns.
    -scalability observations and implementation choices related to the number of threads to be concurrent.
    Of course I have been experimenting with notify()/signal() instead of notifyAll()/signalAll() in order to avoid waking up too many writers/readers that do not stand a chance to perform their enqueue/dequeue without going back to wait()/await() again (in my case, fairness isn't an issue for readers, and for the moment, I accept unfair enqueue from writers). Also, a reader can notify/signal not only a waiting writer but another waiting reader if the queue isn't empty after its own dequeue. I'm about to do the dual notify/signal for writers: not only notify/signal a waiting reader but also another waiting writer if the queue isn't full after its own enqueue.
    Of course, this good-intentions implementation ends up notifying/signaling a lot. I'm searching for a new way of thinking, in case I have been blinded by too much obsession on my current implementation...! :-)
    Thanks.
    PS: for those of you that wonders why I don't use j.u.c array blocking queue, that's because I need:
    a) many queues enqueue to be able to notify/signal a single thread (1 thread waiting to read many queues). This implies an externally plugged-in readers (not-empty) semaphore.
    b) enqueueMany(array), dequeueMany(int max) ->array

    In Java 5 ReentrantLock provides much better performance under contention than built-in sync. Conversely built-in uncontended sync is always much faster. In Java 6 contended built-in sync has pulled back some ground on ReentrantLock. So with only two threads it is not surprising that built-in sync is faster.
    So the switch over point depends on the level of contention. This is a function of the number of threads (and CPU's) and what they do while holding the lock and between holding the lock.
    For evaluating read/write synchronization you need to have a read operation that is relatively long to dominate the cost the heavier read-lock. You also need sufficient parallelism to allow enough concurrent readers to make overall reader "throughput" significant.
    Benchmarks are seldom that useful/insightful unless realistic access patterns and workloads are used.

  • PO with status "Deleted" in SRM and status "Awaiting Approval" in BW

    Hi,
    Report Purchase Order status ( 0BBP_PO_Q007) on ODS 0BBP_PO shows status "Awaiting Approval" for Purchase Orders that have status "Deleted" in the SRM source system.
    Any idea about an appropriate OSS note or other work around solution?
    Thanks in advance for your replies.

    1) The PO data can be extracted from SRM or R/3 . But the advantage of extracting data from R/3 is that you have lot many other data while compared to SRM system . In case u are having SRM and Sap R/3 or ECC as your backend system , it is always better to  extract PO data from R/3 or ECC. In case your backend system is going to be other than SAP system , probably we can think of extracting data from SRM.
    2) GR and invoice data always have to be pulled from R/3 system
    3) Shopping cat details exist only in SRM and the details has to be extracted only from SRM .
    Suggest to extract 1) shopping cart from SRM  2) PO,GR and Invoice from SAP R/3 or ECC.
    Hope above clarifies your questions
    Regards
    Mani

  • REPORT TO SHOW ME AWAITING PO'S FOR APPROVAL

    Hi SAP experts,
    When PO's are created in SAP, they usually go to an Approver for approval.
    However, if there is a problem with the PO, example (wrong coding), the PO is rejected and sent back to the Approver to rectify the error. A message gets sent to the approvers workflow stating the error.
    In our company, Approvers do not have access to workflow in SAP, so they would not be able to see any messages regarding rejected workflow requests.
    Is there any type of report I could run to show me what workflow items are currently awaitaiting the approvers feedback (PO's that are not completed and awaiting information)
    The report will show me what PO's are rejected and the name of the PO owner.
    Many thanks
    Alex

    Hi,
    MR11 does not result in an update if you select the correct option ("prepare list" at the bottom). so simply select the "GR/IR clearing Account" option.
    Also use a large tolerance so that you get everything.
    But I am still not sure how you have entered invoices without POs, was something other than MIRO used? If so then MR11 may not help either because this depends on POs.
    If you HAVE used something other than MIRO I doubt if you can get such a list without some clever ABAP, after all you don't have to specify the PO ever if you are doing a two way match through the FI functions instead of using MIRO. So there would not be a standard report.

  • Issue: Deleted PO Awaiting Approval

    Hello, I'm having issue with a PO which was marked for Deletion..
    In SRM the PO has status Awaiting Approval and in EBP checking the Purchase with transaction bbp_pd, the ultimate change version has the awaiting approval item in blue color.
    Anyone knows how to put a PO deleted into Ordered status?

    Hi,
    Pleaes check once again if the PO is approved,  check in inbox of the approver.
    if it is already approved and still awaiting approval.
    manually we can set the workflow status complete using the funcaiton module
    SE37--> execute the FM   BBP_PD_PO_STATUS_CHANGE_WF
    IV_GUID        --  enter the GUID  of the PO
    IV_STATUS  -- 1
    Execute .. Hope your problem will solve

  • Retrieve Novell Username when not logged into Portal

    Hi,
    Is there a way I can store the users Novell username into a variable? This would be done in a report, displayed on the Portal homepage. I require this functionality before the user logs into the portal, so I can't use PORTAL.wwctx_api.get_user.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    IE is sharing the cookies between sessions.
    If you open IE and open another window by clicking <CTRL>+N or menu File >> New Window you have the cookies shared.
    If you open another IE by clicking on the IE icon you will have two seperate IEs which do not share cookies.
    Either you teach your users to use the "logoff" link in the portal header or code a new portal application that automatically destroys the portal cookie when the users leave the portal page...
