Src and library folders in a flash site

hi, a 'bible' recommended that I keep three subfolders, one for source code, one for library items and one for downloading on user's computer. Will the SRC folder really keep the user from accessing my sketches etc, apart from those that are part of the flash program for downloading? I have done the animations manually on Adobe CS4. Is it necessary to use ActionScript 3 to keep predators at bay?
Any suggestion or ideas would be highly welcome.  Thanks in advance.

Keeping your source files on the web server is absolutely absurd and there's no need by all means to do so. Even supposed you protect the folder with password, the question still stays: why upload such large files in the first place as they're not needed for the website to operate??? You only need the swf and html files for the website to work. I guess, what the authors mean is that you make the subfolders on your own computer and then upload on the server only the folder with the swfs and html. Organisationally, this makes sence.

  • How can I search for files in System and Library folders

    This arrose when I tried to find Archive Utility.app. Neither a Finder search or Spotlight found it, apparently because it is in Hard Drive/System/Library/CoreServices and the System folder is not searched. I've had similar problems when trying to find things in Library. How can I search these folders?

    You can enable the Finder to include System files in its search
    In a Finder finder window select Kind then Other… locate System files in the list and click the checkbox.

  • How to Cleanup System and Library Folders?

    Any body knows how to clean up this 2 folders? my ROOT System folder is 2.38GB, ROOT Library folder is 10.43GB and USER library is 6.35GB. I think they contains a lot of unwanted files and folders. any software i can use or methods?
    thanks.

    I'm rather surprised by the size of your System folder--it's about twice the size of mine. The /Library folder sounds about right, if you installed iLife06, including all the sound files for GarageBand and the various Themes for iDVD. Your home Library folder also sounds rather large. The easiest way to find out what is going on is to put a folder into List view. Then go to View->Show View Options and make sure there is a check mark in the button for Size, and also that Calculate all sizes is checked at the bottom. Now click on the Size column header in the open Finder window for the folder. You'll see what's using all the space. For instance, in my home ~/Library folder the biggest item is the Caches folder, at 840MBs. If I click the disclosure triangle of the Caches folder I see that the QuickTime sub-folder has 400MBs of junk. GoogleEarth has 275MBs, but I would rather not have to re-download anything from there, as it isn't the speediest server in the world, so I won't toss it.
    If you never use GarageBand it would be fine to toss its files out of your /Library folder. There isn't really a program that can do all this for you. Only you can determine what things you need/want and what you don't. And I would be VERY cautious about anything in the /System folder. If you have added custom screensavers, as I have done, of course you could toss them, but not much else--although I'm really curious about the source of the extra GB you have that I don't.
    The best candidates for removal are the large folders in Application Support and the Audio folder with files for applications you do not use, plus the Printer folder with stuff for printers you do not have and don't plan to buy.
    You should also get yourself a backup drive and clone your startup drive to it, make sure you can boot from the clone, and then do your housekeeping chores. That way if you want anything back, you can get it. Not to mention being able to boot the computer just in case you accidently toss something you shouldn't...

  • Spotlight Not Looking in System and Library Folders

    I recently purchased a new MBP, and consequently upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5. I started noticing certain folders not showing up in Spotlight when I look for them, and a thoroughly unscientific experiment has led me to believe it's not looking in the the Library and System files. I really want it to. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen in my old powerbook running 10.4. Is there a preference I'm missing? Going over System Preferences didn't yield anything.

    system files are excluded from default searches. to include them enter command+f in finder to start finder search. click on "kind", scroll and click on "other". in the resulting popup select "system files" and change "do not include " to "include".
    also, see this mac os x hint to make this default:

  • How do I install OSX onto a new SSD (in the place of my optical drive) without transferring all data across.  However, with the applications, system and library on the SSD to improve the speed, but keep non essential items (the home folder) on the HDD

    I have a mid 2009 13 inch unibody 2.53GHz MacBook Pro.  I'm finding that it doesn't run as quickly as it used to.
    A genius in the Apple store suggested that I replace my optical drive with an SSD, however only use the SSD for OSX, applications, system and library.  Keep all documents, pictures, music etc on the current hard drive.
    I would be grateful if someone could help me with:
    1) installing OSX on the SSD without copying across data from the current hard drive
    2) transferring applications, system and library folders across to the SSD so that they still function
    3) changing my settings so that OSX reads the home folder from the current hard drive, as well as all the applications' data (documents, music etc...)
    However, I would like to run iMovie, with all events etc solely from the SSD to speed up the process of editing movies.
    If anyone could help with this, it would be much appreciated.

    If you got the data transfer cable with your SSD, the procedure should be pretty simple - and there should be step-by-step instructions in the box. You're simply going to remove the bottom case of your computer (using a Phillips #00 screwdriver), take out the two screws in the bracket holding the hard drive into place (using same screwdriver), remove the drive and (use a Torx 6 screwdriver) remove the four screws that hold the hard drive in place. Then put in the SSD and reassemble the machine.
    Then you'll plug up the old hard drive by using the SATA to USB cable and use the option key to boot from the old drive. I don't know what data transfer software Crucial provides, but I would recommend formatting the SSD  using Disk Utility from your old drive ("Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with a single GUID partition) and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your old drive to your new SSD (see this user tip for cloning - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4122). You needn't worry about getting an enclosure since you have the data transfer cable and you don't want to use your old hard drive.
    There are a number of videos on YouTube that take you step-by-step through this procedure - many specific to Crucial SSDs and their data transfer kit - do a little searching there if you're unsure of how to procede.

  • Computer asking for password to make changes to root directory, system and Library.

    That's normal.

  • Embeding Flash swf to existing Flash site

    I'm reletively new to Flash CS4 and I have created a Flash site that I need to add another swf file to. Can someone explain how I can insert this other swf file into my existing website which is also a swf file? Can it be done? I've been tinkering with adding another layer and the timelines but can't seem to get it to work. The site is using AS2 but this newer swf file which I created from SlideShow Pro is using AS3. Could that be a problem?

    you have a problem.
    no matter actionscript versions, if you "import" a swf file, in the authoring environment, to another fla, all actionscript in the imported swf will fail.
    if you "load" an as3 swf into an as2 swf, the as3 actionscript will fail.
    you could create a new "loader" as3 swf that will load your as2 swf.  your as2 swf will work as expected.  you can then load your slideshow as3 swf into your loader swf and the slideshow as3 swf will work as expected.

  • Applications and iPhoto Library folders not in backup

    My iMac G5 disk failed some time ago and was replaced by a new drive. I had been doing system backups via TM so was not concerned about being able to rebuild the system. However, when the new drive was initialized, I made the mistake of specifying a different account name from the original and doing a clean rebuild from the Leopard DVD. This resulted in not being able to access the TM backups but I got around the problem by creating a new account matching the original.
    I was able to retrieve most files from the backup this way, but cannot see any backups of either the Applications folder or the iPhoto library in TM. I have gone back to look at all the old versions but still cannot see either of these folders. It's possible that I had excluded these folders from the backups, but I don't usually do silly things like that. My question is: can I go back through the old backups and examine the TM Prefs in use at the time to see if I had (stupidly) excluded those folders?
    I've looked in the System folder and all I can see is a file in System>Library>PreferencePanes>TimeMachine.prefPane which I cannot figure out how to view.
    Thanks for any help/ideas.

    travellerva wrote:
    Many thanks - problem solved (or at least, diagnosed). I had been looking for that same file and could not find it at first. Now I looked again and found it ok. The TM prefs show that I had, for some reason, excluded both the Applications and iPhoto folders from the backup list. Mea culpa.
    I think I had excluded them from the first TM backup in the interests of space saving (I had copied the iPhoto folder to a different volume - later deleted!). Then I made the mistake of not changing the exclusion list when I needed to. It's probably a good idea to visit these prefs regularly to make sure they are what you want and not just left there by forgetfulness.
    And also to double-check what's actually getting backed-up after you change them; on occasion the plist gets corrupted and doesn't get changed to agree with what you did. There's either no message, or folks don't see or understand it.
    Glad you were able to recover -- most folks aren't.
    It's an excellent strategy to have another set of backups of important stuff, and even better, to have it off-site, so you're also protected against fire, flood, theft, direct lightning strike, etc. For most of us, things like photos can be archived to CD/DVD occasionally, and taken to a safe deposit box, relative's house, workplace, etc. Others use a portable external disk, some do some backups via the net.

    Luke-bryan, welcome to the forum.
    Here are some suggestions on what to check:
    If you don't hear sound when playing a YouTube video, try these troubleshooting steps:
    Adjust the volume on your computer and speakers.
    Adjust the volume control located in the lower left corner of the YouTube video player.
    Restart your browser.
    Try turning up the volume for other video players (like Quicktime, Real Player, or Windows Media player).
    If you still have no sound after completing the steps above, these additional tips may help:
    Update your Flash Player to the latest version.
    Allow third-party Flash content on your computer. Learn more by visiting Adobe’s help page.
    Check any Antivirus and Firewall software to see if its blocking third-party Flash content.
    Try these to see if any of them help.

    Hi linuxlee,
    Go to HD/Library/Intenet Plugins/QuickTime Plugin.plugin, move the plugin to the Disabled plugins folder, within the same folder.
    Launch Safari does that help any? if not move it back out of the disabled folder
    Do you have the Debug menu enabled In Safari, using the Terminal app found in Utilites folder enable the debug menu,
    With Safari quit, in a Terminal window copy & paste the command below,
    click return you maybe prompted for your admin pswd, enter that, click return
    when your computers name shows again , quit Terminal.
    defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
    This is in so that you can empty the caches via the debug menu's Show Caches Window.
    Does this show your Flash version & that your installation is complete does it crash your Mac?
    btw, It won't show anything but a blue box on an intel mac for Shockwave, unless running under Rosetta.
    Please keep us posted.

  • How do I find and save the background music file of my Flash site?

    I see that the background music in my Flash site is located in a symbol called muz.  When I click the properties of this symbol, the sound file's location is listed as .\flash\sound\muz.wav  I couldn't find that sound sub-folder in the flash folder nor could I find the file.  I tried doing a search to look for the muz.wav file in my computer but it could not be found.  Does anyone know how I can find and save this file?  Can the symbol somehow be exported and the sound file be extracted that way?

    I copied and pasted the symbol into an empty .fla file.  This new .fla file is just 1 frame.  Can you tell me what you mean by "spreading" it along the timeline?  When I tried exporting it to a .wav file (as just 1 frame in timeline), I only hear a fraction of a fraction of the first note of the music in the generated .wav file.  The music is heard fine in its entirety when previewing the .fla file (F12).
    By the way, in the symbol's properties, there is an option to "Export for ActionScript" and an option to "Export for runtime sharing".  Do you think any of these would work?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    Time Machine should be enough to make a backup of your files. Also, it should back up all folders, so open System Preferences > Time Machine > Options, and make sure that there are no folders included in the excluded items list.
    If you want to create a bootable clone of your hard drive, you need to use an app like Carbon Copy Cloner or the Disk Utility's Restore feature > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU7.html

  • Powershell script to count number of list and library items in site collection

    We are identifying large lists in our 2010 SP environment and I'm attempting to write code to output the total number of list items in a site collection.   I'm using the code below but it only displays column data for title and url.
    What do I need to add so it can count the number of items in each sharepoint list and library?
    Get-SPSite -WebApplication http://sharepoint -Limit All |
       Select -ExpandProperty AllWebs |
       Select -ExpandProperty Lists |
       Select ParentWebUrl, Title
    I'm referencing
    http://sharepointpromag.com/sharepoint/windows-powershell-scripts-sharepoint-info-files-pagesweb-parts

    Please find belwo script, it will iterarte through all the folder/Subfoder to get the item counts from all list and library, you can modify this script to run this at site collection scope:
    Note: save the script in .ps1 file and execute the script as described below to get log file, it will save the log file out.txt in seleted directory:
    e.g.PS D:\PowershellScripts> .\ListItemCount.ps1 > out.txt
    $SPWebApp = Get-SPWebApplication "http://weburl.com/"
    foreach ($SPSite in $SPWebApp.Sites)
    if ($SPSite -ne $null)
    foreach ($SPWeb in $SPSite.AllWebs)
    foreach ($list in $SPWeb.Lists)
    $ListURL = $SPWeb.url + "/" + $list.RootFolder.Url
    Write-Output $ListURL
    [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPQuery]$query = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPQuery
    #$query.Folder = fldr;
    #Recursive Scope....
    $query.ViewAttributes = "Scope='Recursive'"
    $allitems = $list.GetItems($query);
    $filecount = $allitems.Count;
    Write-Output " No of item: " $filecount
    if ($SPWeb -ne $null)
    $SPWeb.Dispose()
    if ($SPSite -ne $null)
    $SPSite.Dispose()
    You can update the code to get any specific list type item count, using if($list.BaseType -eq "DocumentLibrary") condition:
    if($list.BaseType -eq "DocumentLibrary")
    $ListURL = $SPWeb.url + "/" + $list.RootFolder.Url
    Write-Output $ListURL
    [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPQuery]$query = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPQuery
    #$query.Folder = fldr;
    #Recursive Scope....
    $query.ViewAttributes = "Scope='Recursive'"
    $allitems = $list.GetItems($query);
    $filecount = $allitems.Count;
    Write-Output " No of item: " $filecount
    if ($SPWeb -ne $null)
    $SPWeb.Dispose()

  • To rename a page or folder In either the Folder List panel or the Folders view of the site, right-click the file or folder, and then click Rename. Type the new name.

    I set out to change the page name ready to publish on my hosts server after Having used a temp. name, simple so the " Expression web user guide says" I have not been able to find the "Folder List panel" of The folders view of the site,
    I have just completed an hour methodically searching for the two files listed, I would be most grateful for some simple instructions on how to find the entities listed in the Title above, which I cut and pasted to make sure that I got it right.

    If you are in the standard configuration, click "Site|Open Site," then browse to and open your site. With an open site, you will see a tab at the top labeled "Site View." Another tab at the bottom will be labeled "Folders,"
    because you are then in Folders view of the site (recognize that terminology?). At the same time, unless you have your panels hidden, in the upper left side you will see a panel labeled "Folders List." If you do not see this panel, click "Panels|Reset
    Current Workspace."

  • Importing AVCHD and DCIM folders into iMovie that someone has sent me. They live on my desktop. How do I bring them into an event library?

    Someone has sent me the AVCHD and DCIM folders to import into iMovie. They live on my desktop. How do I bring them into an event library?

    DCIM contains only stills.jpg ...
    AVCHD is a highly complex file structure:
    the 'video iself' is within STREAM as .mts, plus corresponding .cpi files in the CLIPINF ...
    if the structure is intact, you go via File/Import/Camera Archive …
    WITHOUT such a complete structure, the mts are not readable for iM and the automatic conversion routines don't get triggered. you have to manually convert/rewrap with 3rd party tools.-
    the pics/jpegs can be imported via Finder/drag'n drop.-
