SRM MDM 3.0 Catalog in MDM 7.1 - Portal Integration - Failed Connection

Hi All,
We are in the process of building up SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 in MDM 7.1 environment, we are able to
login/Configure using http://Server:port/SRM-MDM/SRM_MDM , but when we try to connect to the same URL using portal workset - Emplyee Self service ( Configured the same URL in SRM Server - defined external web service and linked with all mdm-user credentails ), it gives error - saying like "error connecting catalog - see system administrator "
My questions are
1. Is it mandatory to use Portal-MDM ivews to build the catalog page and assign it to users or we can also follow the same methadology like defining the webservice in SRM by providing URL with credentials?
2. if we can define SRM MDM catalog UI using external catalog webservice definition, then how we would integrate it to the portal page ( in Shop page ) - is any config required in portal side?

Please let me know the upgrade steps/plan to upgrade CCM 2.0 to SRM-MDM 3.0 catalog. As per my understanding, there is no tool/method available to upgrade from CCM 2.0 to SRM-MDM 3.0 catalog available. We need to build it from scratch i.e maintain SAP supplied MDM repository, upload data from SRM/ERP, upload suppliers catalog etc.

I have migrated CCM to SRM-MDM Catalog.
Steps are
- Install SRM-MDM Catalog
- Adjust Repository if you have custom fields
- Import contents
- Adjust view
Migration itself is not difficult but you need to learn how to use MDM client tools.

Distribute contract to SRM-MDM 2.0 catalog in SRM 4.0

Hi,
My client is using SRM 4.0 and need to distribute his contracts to SRM-MDM 2.0 catalog.
Once you set the flag "Distribute contract to catalog" in the contract the XI Sender Interface that the system uses is CatalogUpdateNotification_Out form the Sender Namespace http://sap.com/xi/EBP.
The question is whether there is an XI content for SRM-MDM 2.0 and if so then how can i redirect the distribution to another interface.

SRM 7.0 on NW 7.01 with SAP MDM 3.0 Catalog

We are implementing the following Components:
SRM 7.0
MDM 7.1
BI
PI 7.0
Portal 7.0
We are currently live with ECC 5.
We will be using the SAP MDM Catalog along with SRM. We will be also implementing MDM to use for Master Data Cleansing. I wanted to know whether we will need to install the SAP MDM Catalog on the SRM7.0 system or can we install it on the MDM 7.1 system and then connect it to SRM?
Any pros/cons if we can use it as part of the MDM landscape?

Great question. Technically speaking, you can certainly use your SRM-MDM repository on the main MDM 7.1 system. However, the following cons apply:
1. Even though it contains several core components from Netweaver (NW) MDM, SRM-MDM Catalog is being developped by SAP as a separate product. The patch releases between SRM-MDM and NW MDM are also not in synch (at least that's the current situation). Therefore, if you have both applications on one MDM system, you will have an undesired dependency related to applying new patches - which may lead to some issues.
2. Performance of one application will be impacted by the load on the other one.
3. Down time of one application will impact the users of the other one.
4. Upgrades will be more difficult to handle.
On my recent project, the direction from SAP was to use two different systems - one for SRM-MDM, one for NW MDM.

CCM & SRM-MDM are SAP Catalog Content Management solutions.
In basic terms, MDM is latest solution & will be replacing CCM. All new features like service hierarchies are included in MDM 3.0.
CCM: upload, manage, and search in procurement catalogs.

Enter rate / EUR rate type M - Replace item with MDM 3.0 catalog item

Hello,
Up on importing a requested item with an MDM 3.0 catalog item via the 'replace with calog item' functionality we're getting the following error:
Enter rate / EUR rate type M for dd.mm.yyyy in system settings
The from and to currency are both EUR. I first of all don't get it why anything related to exchange rates is happening here.
Edit: I've investigated the problem a little more and it seems like the MDM currency mapping is not correctly set-up. The currency value maintained in MDM seems not to be taken into account when importing to SRM.
Anybody knows how to (pre-)view the OCI mappings from MDM > SRM?

I knew and had already checked that place. But what I actually ment is how can i see the MDM filling for f.e. NEW_ITEM-CURRENCY. I would like to know whether MDM is actually providing the NEW_ITEM-CURRENCY.
The field NEW_ITEM-CURRENCY for our repository is mapped with Price Information-Currency. This should suffice but it isn't.
I've tested the following: defaulting my users Local Currency to USD instead of EUR in the PPOMA_BBP attribute -> add MDM catalogi item in SC -> Currency is USD. While MDM currency is EUR. It's not mapped/read..
The field Price Information-Currency in MDM Data Manager contains as far as i can see value: EUR.

Configuring the MDM 2.0 Catalog UI

Hi,
Could someone please confirm or explain whether any configuration functionality exists to disable the commands or functions in the standard 'List View' tab of the MDM 2.0 Catalog UI? In our scenario we would like to disable the 'Compare' and 'Add to Shopping List' commands.
We've set the radio buttons to 'no' for the 'Shopping Lists available', 'Manage your current Shopping Lists' and 'Shopping Lists as default' but that appeared to have no impact on the Catalog UI.

Hi Jerry,
If you happen to disable the shopping list radio button.. and SAVE it... all the shopping list tabs will dissappear. You cannot avoid the compare tab. I believe there is no option to disable it .

Portal Runtime Error connecting MDM (Employee repository)

I'm having difficulty getting our MDM repository (Employee). I keep getting a portal exception when trying to view the repository using iView.
I am able to connect to MDM Customers. I call Result Set of customers using an iView. I tried doing same for Employees, but it is not working and throwing an exception.

MDM web services and the MDM BP services

I need to know what is the difference between the standard MDM web services and the MDM BP services. How do I decide which set to use?

Sorry but what are BP services? Do you mean Business package?
If yes the approaches are completely different - you use Web Services when you have to customise the application and build your logic/functionality into the app. CRUD operations are procided by Web Services - you need to form your wrapper application from scratch and develop!
With BP - it involves least development effort bearing in mind that its all standard content and not yet completely customizable. So based on your requirements plan whether to go for Business Package or Web Services or Java API completely...

Error in MDM - EP integration : "Failed to connect to MDM server. ....."

Dear SDN,
I m in middle of configuring the MDM and EP integration.
<u>EP Version Info :</u>
J2EE Engine 6.40 PatchLevel 108290.313
Portal 6.0.20.0.0
BP has been installed.
We are able to view MDM system and MDM search IViews in the Wizards in the portal.
<u>MDM Version Info</u> : MDM 5.5 SP 04
I come across the following error :
<b>Step 4: An error has occurred
Failed to connect to MDM server. Check your system. The server may be down or there may be an error in one or more of your system parameters.</b>
System parameters are Server name and pwd .
This parameters are used to start the server and pwd for accessing the server while mounting the server.
Also at the same time, my MDM server is running and repository is shown loaded and running.
Kindly suggest what should have been missed out from our side or some way we can make sure that error does not occur.

in Portal clik on Personalization, and in User Mapping you need to map the MDM repository user (may be Admin)..... then try another time.
Please, check the BP version in order to unserstand if it is the rigjt version for your MDM.

For standard iViews, installing the BUsiness Package for SRM and manual registration of UWL in Portal is good enough for setting up EP for SRM

Hello,
I wish the answer was simple and I get all the 10 points. But, I have lot more to add than just giving a report program name.
Usually the CRM E-Commerce accesses the MDM product catalog as an external catalog. It is not customary to export the Catalog content from SRM-MDM to CRM-ISA. Instead the MDM catalog is Web Enabled for use as an external catalog by CRM-ISA. In the SRM system, the report program
/CCM/PE_START_REG_PUBLICATION
can be used to publish the catalog. Usually, this is scheduled as a background job to run periodically to publish the catalog.
The E-Commerce (CRM-ISA) has Open Catalog Interface (OCI) hooks available to do this. But this needs to be configured in the XCM to access such external catalogs.

Right now payable clerk role and Create invoice, user is getting option to
add item thru Catalog item ie SRM-MDM Catalog option.
Business does not like to that option in Invoice level.
Please let me know whether standard SAP support that

First of all why SAP given that kind of functionality in invoice screen to add item thru Catalog.
I know that we can create invoice with out reference to PO or add items if needed. In general, i am not seeing more need for this functionality from business users.
Process Experts: Please throw some light on the above point..what kind business need or what kind of domain....they use this kind of functionality....Practical scenario which you come across to use that option.

Catalog is assigned to all user in user level in attributes ie PPOMA_BBP tcode.
Business does not want to see Catalog button in invoice level and Purchase order level. They are not doing any thing with button at invoice level. ie Add Catalog item using SRM-MDM Catalog
But the same user wants to see SRM-MDM Catalog in Requester role --> request goods and services.
is it controllable in attribute level?

SRM possible with external catalogs only?

We are thinking about implementing SRM 5.0 or SRM 6.0. Decision has not been made yet, but one item on the wishlist would be to use external catalogs only (not CCM or MDM). Is this possible and could we then completely skip the CCM/Trex or MDM installations or would they still be needed, but just remain unused?

You can of course connect any OCi compliant external catalog.
You don't need CCM or MDM for this !
