SRW208P RSTP Root Negotiation Issue - switches shipping after 4/19/10?

Hi all,
We have configured hundreds of SRW208P switches, with the below hardware and software versions, using a canned configuration we developed long ago.  Three weeks ago we placed an order for 4 of them (all same versions as below) and found when we loaded our canned configuration, they all dropped off the air.  After further investigation, we pinpointed the issue to Rapid Spanning Tree mode settings.  At the instant we set the SRW208P's bridge priority to the same priority as the connecting switch (SRW2048G4P--same switch and RSTP priority we have used for all prior configuration) the SRW208P drops off the network.  Console continues to work fine.
Boot Version:          1.0.1 (Date:  06-Jun-2006, Time:  17:23:21)
Software Version:      1.0.4 (Date:  06-Sep-2007, Time:  09:11:40)
Hardware Version:      00.03.00
Has anybody else had something like this happen recently?  We worked around the issue by creating a new canned configuration with SRW208P RSTP root priority to something different from the SRW248G4P, but, I'm wondering if this is a faulty chip series or something like that.
Regards,
lamorrell

Thank you Andrew for the response.
We haven't upgraded the software on the SRW208P switches as they have been shipping with the latest firmware, 1.0.4.  As a precaution, I grabbed the current image off Cisco and uploaded it to the switch.  The switch shows the same version and create date as indicated in my original post, so this confirms the Software version we are running is the latest code.
We are running the following versions on the SRW248G4P switch.
Boot Version:         1.0.1
Software Version:     1.0.2
Loader Version:       1.0.1
Hardware Version:     R01
I know there's a newer 1.3.1.0 software version out there.  Since the problem seems to follow the "new" SRW208P switches I am dubious about a 248G4P upgrade.  We will probably do the upgrade eventually.
I'm attaching the config files for the SRW208P and SRW248G4P switches.  If you want to load these, the 48-port config requires that you enter the switch's base mac in two places near the top of the text file (replace "put-MAC-here" with hardware MAC address of target switch using xx-xx-xx-xx-xx format).  The RSTP priority in this config has been modified to 12288, which works fine with the 208P default STP settings.
The 208P configuration is the factory default with these modifications: IP address, mask, and gateway, and the Spanning Tree type and priority are RSTP 16384.
If you want to see the failure, you will need to set the priority on both switches to the same value, so, for example, 16384.  I did an experiment this morning where I set them both to 16384, then changed the 248G4P RSTP priority to 12288.  I then was able to access the 208P Web portal log--there was only one entry regarding spanning tree:
3   2147483643   01-Jan-2000 01:55:23    Warning   %STP-W-PORTSTATUS: g2: STP status Forwarding
These are the log messages from the 248G4P (fa3 on the 248G4P switch connects to g2 on the 208p):

FYI, to cover all bases, we have opened an RMA on 3 of the switches exhibiting this behavior.  I will update this post when we test the replacements.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

"I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"
Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

  • Nokia lumia 710 issue before and after send to rep...

need some advice from the forumer/nokia.
Just bought about a month but my lumia 710 already had an issue 3 days after bought it.
had send it to nokia care center at the 1st time due to battery drainage issue but the profesionalism of the staff was too bad.not satisfied with their attitude also.
had told them about another issue like zune can't detect my phone, sometimes can't heard what the people or someone want to said to me when i'm receiving the call. when call out a friend/somebody, they can't hear my voice. didn't receive any call in 1 day but after rebooting the phone got to many missed call log. had been told by my friend that they can't reach me when they call me and all the call that day has been forwarded to voice mail box.
didn't know why it happened. had been send back to authorised reseller about this issue and my phone has been handed to nokia care center by them.
after return from the nokia care center, had ask the reseller what is the root cause , the reseller said the nokia care center just downgraded my firmware/os back to 7.5 mango and said the problem solve. just use it back but my phone issue still arising. when receive/make a call the batteries drainage issue still exist. just talk about 5 minutes and the batteries was shown too be deplete but the main point is the batteries was shown 90% before make/receive a call. ?????????????.
should i returned it back to nokia care center or get back my .....
are they/the tech expert at nokia care center was too lazy or or lack of knowledge or not knowing of the level of troubleshooting method how to solve the problem and didn't know the root cause issue.  its about a month send it to nokia care center but nothing/useless due to the issue/problem was still there.
check at the website support using the emei number, the repair/emei status didn't exist.

1st: When i want to wake up my phone it lags, getting a black screen like 3 a 5 seconds before the lockscreen appears.
I have this same issue with the 1600.3030.8773.12120 firmware as well as the original 7740 firmware.
Funny thing, I tried to call Nokia Care phone support to report this issue and the woman told me it was not a problem and that I should "live with it". The nokia rep refused to submit my error report as she felt that "a delay of a second when turning the screen on is normal, and is actually very fast"
I was outraged that a nokia rep could talk to me in this way and totally dismiss my issue as trivial. I'm really mad and disapointed about this.
I would hope that the Nokia reps on these forums have a bit more tact and will address and help us users with this confirmed issue.
Question for nokia reps: Can this screen lag be fixed in a firmware update?
    Thank you.

  • Optical audio in Lion switches off after 30 seconds

I have a new iMac 27" Computer purchased November 2010 with Snow Leopard on. I have upgraded to Lion OS the day it came out.
When I started using it, I noticed that the Optical steam (red beam) would switch off after roughly 30 seconds. I researched this issue and found that OS X powers down the Sound Hardware after 30 seconds if not used, as it is fine under Bootcamp with Windows 7.
So I used a program called Sound 1.0,1 to stop the Optical connection switching off, by playing a silent sound every 20 seconds. But now Lion does not support PowerPC programs by Rosetta, so am back to the original problem, that if the hardware has switched off, I miss the first 2 or 3 seconds of the start of the audio, like Skype announcing that some has signed in / out or on MSN as a message notification.
Any ideas to sort this annoying problem be most grateful.
    Peter

    Thanks for your help Andrew.
Have tried that and seems to be working at the mo (touch wood). See how it goes.
Can't tell you what a difference it is compared to the monitors speakers.
    Thanks Again

Just for interest sake i watched this video on youtube where this guy had the same problem  but the difference is that he had it on an iPad. he opened the ipad up and did something on the ipad, it took less than a minute then his ipad worked.
I would appreciate it if someone would respond to this as fast as they can i am so stressed.

  • Muvo N200 Switches off after 1 tr

I'm experiencing a very very irritating problem with my player. It just switches off after playing single track. This problem only surfaced after using for approximately for 2 - 3 months. The other irritating part is that I couldn't access Recovery Mode and thus could not do any firmware upgrade, etc. Anyone can help me on this issue or must I return to Creative to have it RMA ? Thnx

Not if you don't have any problems with .2.0.
Some people will like .5.0 because it gives support for 3 levels of sub-folders which then allows sync with WMP0. But it also changes the volume scale which others don't like!

  • Switch off after 20%

    Hi ,
For the last two days, i m facing this issue,  my iphone4S switch off after battery level goes just below 20%. I need to charge it again to switch ON the mobile.
I have upgraded to iOS 6.1.2 two weeks back. Can anyone please help me, your help will be highly appreciated.

Try fully discharging (until it shuts off) and then fully recharging (don't unplug until 100%) to recalibrate the battery meter.  You may need to do this a few times.

  • Using the Cyclops speed camera app, the sound on my iPhone 4s switches off after a few minutes. Any ideas?

when using the Cyclops speed camera app the sound on my iPhone 4s switches off after a short while. If I close the app and reopen it, there's still no sound. If I restar the phone and open Cyclops I get sound "welcome to Cyclops" or whatever the greeting is. Has anyone got any ideas?

I've taken several Express devices apart in the past to experiment with them. The internal components warm up quite a bit in the first 10-15 seconds. They continue to heat up after this.  It takes 3-4 minutes or so before the heat transfers to the outer case for dissipation.
Nothing is certain, but I'm 95% sure that this is your issue.  But, trying to find a microscopic break in a circuit board trace is, as I mentioned, a real longshot. If you have the time and have done things like this before, it might be worth a shot.
I guess the bottom line is that even if this is not the issue, the device will still need to be replaced since Apple does not offer repairs. There are no software or firmware fixes for somthing like this.

  • T3250 issue - switches off

    HI All,
New to this board! After my very old and very loved Creative speakers blew out last year I have finally come around to buying a new set.
Ive gone for the T3250. Great sound, good quality etc as to be expected. However, when connected over blutooth they switch off after 15 minutes! no connection failure, no power issues etc. starts again as soon as i switch them on no problem. I have a sneaky suspicion this is a malfunction of the power saver feature.... Anyone else having this issue?
    Thanks for any feedback etc!
    MB.

It looks like your phone has a loose contact in there. Possibly with the battery.
You don't way which model you have so we can't say what you can do to check this.

I switched it off, but it couldn't switched on after this. I already did a reset but with no result. Has anyone an idea about this issue?

In that case it sounds like you have done the most you can try yourself. Perhaps the unit is faulty. I suggest that you have your device examined by a service center. Please contact your local Xperia support team for more information:

Voicemail is through your carrier and on their equipment.
It's function and features is set by them, not your phone.

Time Machine Locked after MacBook Air reformatted. My MacBook Air was overfull due to an Address book issue (duplication) so after many attempts to clear space, I ended up wiping out the system and reloading Lion. This resulted in the Time Machine thinking that it was now connected to a different computer. Apparently this diables the existing information.
Now I can see that the back-ups exist (back to Sept 2012) but they are greyed out, therefore unavailale to restore. Again, this seems like an issue that shouldn't be happening. The whole point of the Time Machine is to enable reinstatement of data after catastrophic failure. What if my computer actually had to be replaced due to a hardware issue? How would I beableto restore anything?
    The path already (unsuccessfully) taken;
Open Library on the computer, Open Time Machine, Select Correct date, drill down to correct data you wish to restore, click "Restore".
This did not work because the correct date was greyed out. Restore key was greyed out.

  • Terminus 9pt font issue in Konsole after upgrade

I have a slightly weird font issue in Konsole following a bunch of upgrades today. Basically, at the beginning of the command line and the beginning of subsequent words on that line, the very first character sort of flashes and gets truncated if it is one of several letters. Very narrow characters are not affected (e.g. i) but most are (e.g. n, g, m, r etc.). Once I press enter, the characters look perfectly normal - the issue only occurs on the line being edited and while I am entering or within words as opposed to spaces. Moreover, it only occurs for the first letters of words. Subsequent letters look fine. Once a space is typed following the first word, the character looks normal unless and until I type another letter or return to edit the first word. If I type "cat" it will be a truncated c; at "cat " all looks fine; then "cat c" and the first c is truncated; "cat cat " all is well; "cat c" with the cursor moved back over the second c and the second c rather than the first is truncated.
Any thoughts as to what I should check? I'm using the infinality stuff from AUR. I updated that last night. However, I don't _think_ I saw the issue today until after upgrading the kernel. Here are the last entries from pacman.log:

I'm using Terminus (TTF) in size 9 in Konsole. This hasn't been changed for quite a while.
Any suggestions on how best to troubleshoot this? Is it possible that I need to rebuild some other AUR packages associated with the infinality ones but which haven't actually been updated? Or is it likely to be to do with something else in the list?
EDIT: It only seems to be some fonts at some sizes e.g. Monaco 8pt is OK but Terminus 9pt isn't; Terminus 10pt is OK; etc.

Applications/Font Book and validate your fonts.

  • Issues not resolved after updating to latest SP BO 4.0

Issues not resolved after updates to latest SP
We initially installed BO 4.0 with SP4 FP3. After that updated the installation to SP6, SP7, SP8, SP9 and SP9 patch3. We skipped SP5 as it had no issues effecting the way we work.
Now we discovered that most of the important issues for development like being able to modify merged dimensions by adding a dimension are not resolved, despite the updates which would have fixed the issue.
    Any ideas?
Is it possible to install SP5 afterwards and then update again to the new SP10?

You don't need to install SP5. Latest SP you have installed, will have all the fixes of SP5.
You cannot install SP5 after installing SP9. There is no need to install aslo.

  • Switched to After effects CC today and my imported voice over sounds like buffalo bill ( very low)

    Hi guys,
Today I switched to after effects cc and I am super excited about it . Unfortunately while trying to sync my audio to animations I found that it was distorted and made my voice sound very deep and low. I read this might have been a problem a while ago but there has patch released that fixes it and I have the most up to date version of after effects cc. What am I missing?
