SS32 and AA3

Hello,
We recently purchased Adobe Audition 3 and quickly found an issue regarding files in Scott Systems 32 V5. With AA 1.5 we were able to edit & save audio to the SS32 folder tree without loosing any metadata. Now with AA 3 the file becomes corrupt when it is formatted back to SS32.
I know that WideOrbit created a plug in for AA3 to work with WO Automation. They do not seem to have a similar tool for SS32. Does anyone know of an available plug in, or solution to this issue?
Thank you.

  • 3.0 Running in Circles - Can't access

I've been using this new computer with all new install xp sp3 and AA3.0. This has worked for more than 6 months, no problems. I now have a UAD card installed and everything has worked. With this new system I haven't needed to lock any effects, no problems untill now. I'm working on a slightly bigger project and locked some effects and then the program stopped. The message I get is:
Shutting down. To continue where you left off, you must restart Audition. And I select "OK" Now I get "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.  R6025 pure virtual function call" message. I can't get into Audition to undo what I've done.
    Some sessions are unreplaceable.
I understand some kind of corrupted registry file or something like that.
    Any suggestions?
    Donnie

My comp. guru fixed it in about 10 minutes. I had a bad file. It was deleated and automatically put back correctly. Works fine now.

    Hi Donnie,
Do you recall the precise last steps you took before Audition stopped working?  Did it crash and start giving this error when you launched it again, or did this just occur at random after working fine the previous time?
How far does the start-up process get before you receive this error?  Do you see the Audition splash screen?  Does it begin to show the UI before crashing?  Have you already installed the Audition 3.01 update patch?
My first suggestion would be to wipe the application preferences and try launching it again.  To do this, rename the following "3.0" folder to "3.0.BAK" and then launch Audition
    XP: C:\Document and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\3.0\
    Vista/Win7: C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\3.0\
Renaming the folder instead of deleting it will retain your previous preferences and effects presets in case this is not the problem.

  • Pk files no longer being drawn

    Hello,
First time poster here. I tried to read as many posts as possible about my issue, but unfortunately, I didn't see anything that might help me out.
I recently noticed last night that each time I would import a stereo wave file in AA3, it would take the normal time it takes when drawing the wave form for the first time. I usually do not delete pk files until I'm done with a project. Each time I bring the same wave file back in, it does the same thing like when you import something for the first time. I looked in my wave folder where these waves reside and normally, there are a bunch of pk files that of course can be safely deleted I know. But not this time. There isn't a single one there and it appears AA3 is no longer drawing them.
This has also brought on another issue and that is, applying more than 2 effects. I was mastering a stereo wave file at 24/48 (32 bit float, ASIO, Layla 24/96 soundcard on Win xp pro, 3 gig RAM dual core 3.2) and noticed on my 3rd application of an effect, there was no status bar showing the time it takes for the effect to be applied. The effect processed instantly, but the wave form never changed character. When going up to undo, that effect was not applied to it couldn't be undone. Yet, if I click on "repeat last command" or effect right under it, the effect I attempted to process does in fact load up. It just will not process by clicking "ok". It is working in preview mode. I exited out of the project, reloaded it and this was when I first noticed it was redrawing the wave like it does on a first import. Looked in the wave folder and no pk files.
I attempted just try the one effect that wasn't processing in the last session, and sure enough, it worked perfectly so it's not the effect itself. It seems I get 2 effect applications and AA3 will no longer process my effects to the wave destructively. This is all in edit mode by the way.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? I have done a rescan of all my plugs and have disabled those that will not run in AA3. I think I've done as much as I can do on this end without the help of you guys. :) Any help or advice would be grately appreciated...thanks in advance. :)

Thanks for the quick reply guys. simple, I do have it set for that and have never had this problem before. This is where I think something may not be right somewhere. Anytime I bring a file into Audition, it cache's the wave form and never draws it again unless I make a change in another program upon exporting out of Audition. For example, sometimes I master using a few tools in Audition and then save the file and do all my conversion and dithering using Wave Lab 6. I save the WL6 file with a new name. If I bring that file into Audition, it will of course cache another wave form. But anytime (and honest, I've been using Audition and CEP for many years) I have ever brought a file in, it auto draws and leaves that draw everytime I load up that file with no additional caching. Now days, it will draw the wave form everytime that wave is opened no matter what bit or sample it is. Do you understand what I mean? I very well could not be explaining this right and if I'm not please forgive me.
I'll try once more in case I'm just confusing the heck out of you guys. LOL! Please bear with me and thanks for your patience. :)
I open the program, import a wave, it scans it and the wave appears. This is the only time it should do this to this particular wave file....at least in my experience. If I close all, shut down AA3 and reopen it and bring that exact same wave back in, it should not be scanning and redrawing the wave file if the file has not been altered in another program, correct?
This is the way it has always worked for me. Open once, it draws and each time I open that same file, it should never scan again. It is scanning every time on the same file and there are no pk files anywhere. I always get pk files when I import a 24 or a 32 on my end because I constantly remove them after I'm done with a project. I always have a 24 and a 16 after I'm done converting sample and bit rates. So there are always 2 pk files for every tune I master. Now days, my folder is completely empty...and I am still having that effect processing error to where 0 processing takes place after about 3 effects are processed. I do them one at a time, not all at the same time.
I get no status bar showing the effect being processed nor does the wave form change in appearance after the effect is applied. This started happening when I noticed a constant redraw everytime a file is opened so I thought it may have something to do with my problem. Hope I'm explaining it a bit better. Thanks for your time and patience. :)

  • Live recording 16 tracks

I just got 2 firestudio projects and im recording 16 tracks live at my bands shows. im using an intel 8400 processor 3 gigs of ram and aa3. everything starts out nice and about 15 minutes or so in, aa3 just stops recording. is there something im doing wrong? please help this dumb dumb and thanx

Don, did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problems and I'm going to try out these solutions later today to see if any of this works. Here are some other things I'm going to try...so, I've made a list of things for me and others to check when using daisy chained 2x FSP's and audition.
I'm using a dell laptop. so it might be different for people using a different setup, but here are some things I've collected over forums.
    1. Disconnect from the internet. (one of the most important and overseen solutions i've concluded)
    2. try using onboard firewire or a Firewire "only" card. (people say the firewire/usb combos dont work too well with FSP)
    a. Also using a Texas instruments chipset firewire only card
    3. Try disabling the onboard usb ports
    4. close out all unnecessary programs
    5. make sure that when you right click on the record button on the transport, it's set to continuous record.
    6. Turn off any screensavers or anything running on a timer or background.
    7. try disabling onboard sound card
    8. Make sure all firmware and drivers and software are up to date. (winxp users might want to toy with upgrading/downgrading from sp2/sp3)
Let me know if anyone can add to this. And remember, I'm not an expert on this, I'm just regurgitating what I've seen on the presonus forums and here as well as experienced myself first hand.
    Thanks,
    Ben

  • Problem Singing Up for Individual Subscription for Audition CS6

I'm an educator and have had a Creative Cloud subscription for a year. By chat I had a staff person cancel my Creative cloud subscription, but they were unable to help when it came to signing up for a monthly subscription to Audition CS6. Since then I've discovered one broken link, but have only been able to find Audition CC, but no CS6 for a monthly subscription for educators. This much I know, it should be available somewhere for $19.99 a month. Can anyone help me?

Just to be absolutely clear, Audition CS6 is the one you buy outright; if you want a monthly subscription it'll be Audition CC (and that's likely what you were using if you had a subscription to the whole Creative Cloud.
If you were using CS6 even though you had the subscription, I'd suggest you try CC.  There's no huge changes from CS6 (so no big learning curve) but it DOES have a bunch of nice added extras.  I have both CC and CS6 on my computer (and AA3.01 for that matter) but, other than checking things to answer questions in here, I can't recall the last time I used CS6 for real.

  • Burned CD Compatibility Issue with older CD players?

I'm having an issue where my burned CDs only play in the newer players around the house. Even a high dollar CD player from about 10 yrs ago wont even start the audio. All these players play commercial CDs no problems. I bought the AA3 thinking it commercial grade, am I wrong in assuming that meant commercial grade CD recording as well? HELP? I have an appearance at the TX State Dulcimer Festival next weekend and have the artwork and everything done to do a small self release but can't in good conscience sell an inferior CD.
    Thank you,
    Ken Lloyd
    www.ezfolk.com/audio/wilderness

I'm using a brand new pioneer/lightscribe external DVD/CD burner and Memorex LightScribe CD-R. I do believe it is the two older CD players. I've got some newer ones around the house and even they are in the range of 7 years old and working so I'm pretty convinced they'll be OK. HOWEVER, in the process of cleaning up and installing the latest greatest drivers I've lost my m-audio delta44 in AA3. The new driver has a smaller windows looking control panel without as many options and AA3 can no longer find it. Windows sees it and gives me three options in the sounds>recording devices drop down, i.e. 1/2, 3/4, and Multi. None of these selections are recognized by AA3. It errors out during the hardware installation and during a restart of AA3 but once you click through the "can't find device screens" it records and sends normally. Very annoying. I'm going to post the last part of this messaged out to the list.
    Thanks,
    Ken

  • M/S Mastering

Working with a pre-mixed stereo WAV file and AA3 tools/effects, can someone provide the steps (generic)  to create a final master using the technique M/S Mastering (Mid/Side Mastering).
This is also a suggestion for the Adobe team to create a tutorial on the topic of M/S Mastering.

Everything you need to know about using M/S techniques in mastering can be found in the iZotope Ozone Mastering Guide. And there are no such things as generic steps in mastering - each track is treated on its individual merits.
The fundamental thing you need to understand is what the effect of converting L/R stereo to M/S stereo is - everything else that you can do as a result of this is simply what you can do with existing mastering treatment anyway, only on some slightly different signals. Since you have the centre channel (M) separated from the difference or side (S) channel, it's possible to vary the width of the stereo field by altering the relative levels of them, and also carry out some operations on each separately. It has to be said also that rather more of these things are possible in Ozone than in Audition, but that's hardly surprising - it's designed to do the job, and gets very neatly over the monitoring problems that you run into otherwise.
Curiously, there's another a bit of free software that's rather useful in this context (works well with Audition) called SHEPPi. This software actually achieves something that Ozone can't do, and it does it rather well - certainly as well as Bob Katz' "K-stereo" plugin, which costs an absolute fortune.

  • Transferred activation, before replacing Failing Disk,

we had to use a tombstone backup to prevent corruption from propogating to new Disk
the problem is the only good backup image available had an activated install of both AA2 and AA3
the last time I had to do that was on another system
and I was presented with a "repair activation" window
now on this system I get a full activation window for both AA2 and AA3 which doesn't function on either
normally when I change a disk
    I transfer the activations first
then take the image and restore to the new disk the unactivated product
    this normally works
but we had no choice in this matter as the disk was just about fried
would uninstalling and reinstalling allow the activations to proceed?

"the activation process doesn't just look at the disk but the motherboard too... and it's sneaky"
in most instances this would be considered a ROOTKIT
    Un-install - Re-install doesn't work
    I didn't change the MB
    I didn't change the processors
I didn't change the video card
    I didn't change the NIC
I didn't change the sound card
    I didn't change the OS
    only the FRIED HDD
at my home Office I use Symantec Backup Exec
at the company Office Acronis is used
a full restore at my house to another disk gives a "repair activation" window
a full restore to the same disk gives no change in activation status
a full restore to the same disk at the company office gives no change in activation status
a full restore to a replacement disk doesn't give the repair activation window
    rather gives the following
    "activation information is invalid"
(which occurs when launching previously installed product recovered from backup image)
    then after uninstall re-install sequence
    "yer 30 days is up"
and the following dialog is presented when attempting activation in either case of new HDD
here's the dialog I get when trying to activate after restore to new disk
before uninstall and after uninstall - reinstall procedure:
internet connection not detected is a lie because I just posted this from the system in question

  • AA3 library of audio clips and saving session

Either I have lost my mind, or I've changed a setting somehow, or I'm just now noticing something that may have been this way forever. I could swear if you have 5 audio clips in your library and only 3 in the multi-track, when you save the session, all 5 clips should still be in the library when you re-open the session. I have not chosen to "close unused media" at any time.
In trouble-shooting, I open AA3 with an empty library, import 5 files into the library, save session, close session, attempt to open session (and looking at the "component files" box while in the "open" dialog), I do not see any files in this area. I have "show file info" checked. I can understand if no files are in the multi-track, this list would be empty, but it should still show what files are in the library panel.
If I go back to where I've imported 5 files into the library, place 1 clip in the multi-track, save session, close it, re-open the session, only 1 file is in the library. This is strange to me because I could swear I've been able to import all the files I might need for that session and keep them in the library until I'm ready to place them in the multi-track and I could save and open as many times as needed (while never choosing to close unused media), and all the files I imported would remain in the library regardless - almost like AA3 is automatically closing unused media and deleting those clips from my library. Is this the way it is and I'm just now noticing this? I've worked with AA3 since it was released...

My impression is the same as your's but I'm not at my studio PC at the moment to try it.
You can use this tool to see exactly what files (along with some other useful things) are being used in an AA session once you exit AA.

  • AA3 and Windows Vista

I have been using Adobe Audition 1.0 for years, no problems at all(for the most part). I was mainly using it for my own pleasure and running it on XP. I recently decided to take a shot at recording as a business. So I went out and bought a new computer, laptop and all the gear and figured while im at it id upgrade to AA3. Problem is, on my laptop when I record using both AA3 and AA1.0, it does not record in sync. It records about a half second late. How can I fix this? Is this a Vista issue? My laptop? or an Adobe Problem?
Just for reference Im using a Sony VAIO (this laptop is only for my own personal recording, not for business) and running the Tape Out from my board into the mic input of my laptop. Is this not correct? I used the same method on XP with my old computer. This laptop has an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 Ghz and 2.00 GB of ram.
    What can I do??

Heres some shots of my audition problems that may help.
The first image is the multi track view with no pan option.
The second image is my newest error message Ive been receiving.
The third image is my audio hardware setup, maybe its not correct?
The fourth image is the control panel for asio4all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again.

  • AA3 and no audio input

Just download the trial version of AA3. I can not get any input audio to record. Tried using the built in mic on a laptop and also the mic input with a tape walkman. I am using a lenovo thinkpad.
I downloaded Audacity and it works fine with everything as well as Windows recorder.
The inputs seem to point to the right place and the outputs point to master and then to the hardware.
If i import a file I can play it fine and here it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    hi john,
great to see you! since i'm a total noob when it comes to macs, where can i find the utilities folder?
    John Alcock wrote:
Is your Saffire recognized by Audio/MIDI set up (in your Utilities folder)?
another strange thing is, i can't access saffirecontrol le's preferences, since it's grayed out. i already uninstalled and reinstalled the software and updated the saffire le driver. the problem still exists.
i remember that this problem occurred, since i tried out soundflower and other recording software such as, "butt", audio hijack demo, etc. i already uninstalled all of those.
I think that the solution will be found related to this. There may be some parts of one of them left over which are interfering with Saffire being recognized by the Mac, as it doesn't work in GB either. I hate to suggest this, but you may be looking at an 'archive & install' of your OS, unless you can track down what your use of those other installations affected.
i'm also thinking that the problem might be related to that. i have tried so many broadcast and recording applications a few months ago, i can't even remember which ones they were.
i'm still hoping that the problem is caused by something simple, like perhaps something i activated accidentally. well since the snow leopard is on it's way here, it might be a good idea to reinstall of my os, though i have no clue how to do that on a mac lol!

  • AA3 Freezes Computer in mixtrack and effects!!!

    i need help,
i had this problem before so i reformatted pc but it did not solve my problem.
i record alot and after i add effect such as NOISE REDUCTION it freezes my whole pc and i need to restart it from the button in my computer. sometimes if im lucky it wont freeze but will freeze after in the mix track randomly. i reformated pc , reinstalled AA3. same thing happens with AA2 and even cool edit pro.
    i got
    1.2 GB RAM DDR2
    Windows XP SP3
    512 MB GFX CARD
    Nforce Series 4 Geforece 6100
    AMD ATHLON 64+ 3600+
my sound card is Creative ct5803 but had to change it to ct4810 because it wouldnt work... but now both of them did not stop my computer from completly freezing.
    i need help badly!
    thank you

really apriciate all the help but unfortunatly its not working...
i really dont think it could be the sound card as i tried 4 different sound cards having the same problem.
this problem occured when my onboard sound stopped working (realtek hd) so i had a spare Creative sound card. i inserted that and it worked perfectly for few weeks or so then stopped working suddenly.
i tried 4 other Sound card it still has same effect and completly freezes my computer. all i see in my monitor screen is multiple AA3 screens all around the screen filling up completly and freezes my pc completly.
i have installed ASIO drivers but unfortunantly no difference...
it seems now that as soon as a use NOISE REDUCTION or any other effects it freezes as soon as it gets to 100%. i really use Adobe Audition ALOT and need help :(
i have used a C-MEDIA sound card and my freinds DIGI-9636 high tech sound card and have the same problem.
since i done a full reformat of my pc i did not really install any new firmwire etc. first thing i did is install AA3 and worked for 2 days and started messing about again.
i disabled anything starting at boot up aS well (msconfig)
    still need help :(:(
    thank you for your time!!!

  • AA3 and Derumkit from Hell 2 problem!!

    Hi,
I can easily say I am pretty novice. So, I'll be grateful to those who have enough patience helping me out.
I am on a midi track, and I find DKFH2 in the list, I "write" my drum patterns and when I hit 'sequencer' I see my DKFH2 opening, but no sound at all. I don't hear anything when I play along the virtual keyboard of DKFH2 neither when I play my pattern in AA3. No sound at all.
what kind of setting do I need to hear my drums? HEEELP!!

Yes, after I read the FAQ's, including the L checked, I managed to hear out of DKFH2. BUT, now I hear only the blue painted keys in DKFH2, which are only kick drums. Rest of the keyboard makes no noise. Where I've heard in cubase although a few were painted, rest was full with snares, hihats, cymbals. now it's only kick. How may I hear the rest of the keyboard? any idea??
    Thanks for replying!

  • AA3 and Amplitube metal

    Hi,
As a rookie, this is my second "stupid" question about AA3 and VST's. (Geez, I am not even aware of the difference between VST and VSTi)
So. Is Amplitube an effect on an audio track? or again a midi track thingie? Is it possible to play through Amplitube live inside AA3 or does it only come to stage while recording or after?
I would really hear something out of Amplitube "inside" AA3 to record something. What are the very basic settings needed?
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Okan

I don't have Metal but I assume its the same as the Hendrix one.
    Go into Edit View
Select Effects/VST Plug in Manager and make sure Amplitube Metal is ticked
Select a track and make sure the guitar is setup to record into that track ie select the correct input.
Select the FX button in the Mixer view and open the effects rack and select VST/Amplitube Metal (My options are Amplitube /2 or Amplitube / Jimmy Hendrix.
Down the bottom of the AA screen in multitrack view make sure monitoring is set to Audition Mix
Check out 'smart input' in the help file
    >In Multitrack View, you can hear inputs with effects and sends that youve applied to a track, giving you an accurate preview of how recorded material will sound in the final mix. You can choose whether to hear an input all the time, or only when you reach a recordable portion of a track, such as a blank area or a punch‑in range.
    >Note: ASIO sound cards are highly recommended for this feature. DirectSound cards increase latency (an audible delay) that disrupts timing for musicians. To reduce latency, see Set driver properties for a sound card. Choose Options > Monitoring > Audition Mix, and then select one of the following: Smart Input Monitors the input only when recording a track. When playing back, monitors only the clips on the track, not the input. Always Input Monitors the input at all times during playback and recording. Any existing clips on the input track are not played. To start monitoring an input, click an Arm For Record button in the track controls. To begin recording, click the Record button in the Transport panel.
Try that and see how you go

  • Getting AA3 and USB Alesis IMultimix to work

Computer recognizes mixer under sound/usb audio codec.  But cant get a signal to AA3.
Anyone have a clue as to what I could be doing wrong?
    TIA

All I know is that the "Tascam" asio drivers are written by Ploytec, who seem to have produced drivers for a large number of other respected companies. My problems with the Tascam drivers were primarily that old versions were not being removed completely by the Tascam uninstaller. The Ploytec site actually did have better uninstallation information, but I hadn't been psychic enough to guess that. For completeness, I do have an M-Audio driver on the same machine and the Ploytec driver does still trigger an unimportant error in the M-Audio drivers (the TBIA error) that M-Audio have managed to hide.
Isn't the IMultimix just a usb 1.1 mixer with a few extra features? The website about the driver says
"There's also a commercial version of the USB ASIO driver supporting Alesis' USB 1.1 mixing desks, ART USB, Audiotrak EX / EX5 / Maya 5.1 USB (48kHz only), Audiotrak EX7 / Maya 7.1 USB, Audiotrak OPTOPlay, Creative Audigy 2 NX (48 kHz only / not on Mac OS X yet), Creative Extigy (48kHz only), Creative MP3+ (48kHz only), Creative SoundBlaster Live 24bit external, Digidesign Mbox, Elektor USB audio, Event EZBus, Edirol  UA-1A (44.1kHz only), Edirol UA1-X, Edirol UA-3(D), Griffin iMic,  Griffin PowerWave, HHB Portadisc, Hercules MusePocket (48kHz only),  Lexicon Omega, M-Audio Audiophile USB, Opcode DAT-/SonicPort (optical),  Onkyo MSE-U33(HB), Onkyo SE-U55(X(S)), Philips Aurilium (48kHz only),  Roland-ED UA-30, Sitecom's 5.1 Audio Adapter (48kHz only), Terratec Aureon 5.1 USB (48 kHz only), Vivanco 5.1 Audio Converter (48kHz only), Waveidea UASC-1, Yamaha USB mixing desks and a number of more devices"
The question is whether many of the devices on that list will actually be any more use with asio, as the list itself suggests.
This commercial version costs money - presumably they have to pay a licence to Steinberg for asio, but there seems to be a downloadable demo.
