SSAS 2012 Deployment Wizard - A connection cannot be made.

Hi
I have a virtual server of Windows 2012 Standard on USA from a cloud provider. I installed SQL 2012 and it is stand-alone server, not part of domain.
I am in Australia developing SSAS to be deployed to the server above. The problem I am facing is that even though SSAS is running on that server, I can not deploy the project to the server both in Bids and SSAS deployment Wizard. I can copy the project
to the server and deploy it there in Bids.
I am just wondering why I can not do it. I created a sample cube on the server and can connect to it using Excel.
I have a feeling that one of the requirement to deploy a project remotely is to be a part of domain -  Making my computer or my credential as an admin to the SSAS server to deploy the project. Am I right? or is there something I am doing wrong?
Firewall is ok. I got the right ip address. I just can not deploy remotely?
What's the requirement of the remote deployment?
Kind regards

Hi SQLMa,
According to your description, you instal SQL Server Analysis Service instance in the Virtual Machine of Windows Azure, now the problem is that you cannot deploy the SSAS project to this server, right?
In this case, you need to create the Virtual Network on the VM, and then connect to the Azure VM through the Virtual Network. Here is a blog which descrie build an OLAP Farm in the Cloud with Azure Virtual Machines step by step, plese refer to the link below:

    Looking at some other threads here I read to try going to the MS SS Management Studio and make sure I can connect to Analysis Services.  When I try to connect to Analysis Services in management studio I get the message 'A connection cannot be made to

    When I look at the SQL Browser service in my services manager, it says that the SQL Browser is disabled.
    After enabling and starting the SQL Browser service, I still cannot connect to AS from the studio.  I get the message...'A connection cannot be made.  Ensure that the server is running.  No connection could be made because the target machine

    Hi,
    You should have "SQL Server Analysis Services" service if you have SSAS installed properly in your machine. For an example take a look into this screenshot. In my development environment I have three SSAS instances. One for SSAS Tabular 2012, One
    for SSAS MDX Mode 2012 and SSAS 2008R2. So I am having three instances of the service.

  • Connection cannot be made to the redirector

    Hi,
    I am using SQL Server 2012 Management Studio, SQL Server Data Tools and Visual Studio 2012 to deploy a data mining project.

    Hi nirmalgopalakrishnan,
    The features you are trying to use aren't compatible with SQL server express.    Please see the features supported by the editions of SQL server link here features

  • A connection cannot be made; Ensure that the server is running

    Hi There
    I have installed Analysis service on my server machine through remote login from my service account. I am able to open Analysis services from there.
    When I open SSMS from the same service account on my local machine, I am not able to connect to that Analysis service. It is giving me error by saying :
    "A connection cannot be made to redirector. Ensure that 'SQL Browser' service is running. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient).
    A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connection host has failed to respond 10.245.192.111:2382(System)."
    Do you have any solution to this ??
    Thanks
    Nidhi

    Hi Nidhi,
    Based on my research, the issue was caused by the Browser Service account was changed to the domain account. In your scenario, you can try to connect to the Analysis Service using <Servername>:2383 instead of instance name. Or you can change the
    Browser Service account to "Local System". Here is a blog that describes the detail informatin about it error, please see:

    Issue: "A connection cannot be made to redirector. Ensure that 'SQL Browser' service is running"

  • Oracle Deployment Wizard - shoose connection

    Hi,
    I have a program now that is running successfully; at least in debug mode. This is vs 2008; ODP.NET.
    However when I run the program, still in vs2008, I get the Oracle Deployment Wizard and something that asks me to choose a Connection.
    However I have the connection in my app.config; so I don't need any more help to choose a connection. Why is it asking me to do so and what can I do to stop it?
    I dont really understand the deployment model. I have a program that runs a query and obtains its results. I then map and move that data to a Sql Server system. What is there to deploy?
    The explanations all seem to assume you understand why a deployment is required. I can sort of understand that you may be able to move the code c# + pl/sql over to the oracle server but I'm not trying to do that.
    Any clarification appreciated.
    thanks
    mark

    Hi,
    sorry, too many noise words there; let just rephrase that as "every time I run a program from the debugger I get the Deployment wizard at run time".
    I've not attempted a "live" run yet with this code.
    Usually the Oracle Deployment Wizard kicks in when you're trying to run a .NET Stored Procedure, is that what you're doing? If so, is it intentional? Perhaps you >accidentatlly added a .NET stored procedure project to your solution?I'm not trying to run a .NET Stored Procedure but I may have selected such a project by mistake. How do you tell what kind of project you have?
    thanks

    HELP
    Help needed to update a 4th gen ipod touch running version 4.3.5 (8L1) to the latest 6.0 version.  When I connect and try to update i keep getting a box which states that a connection error occured and I cannot update.
    I have been given a new laptop for xmas which runs on windows 8, and the new itunes version (which is in itself a hurdle as I am a technophobe!) and this is all becoming a bit fustrating.
    I have connected, updated and synced my iphone successfully, but just hit a brick wall on the ipod.  (which incidentally maybe where this laptop will end up!!)
    Help if you can, but in laymans terms.......

    Thank you for you input so far.....
    I think we are getting nearer to the solution sort of!
    Let me get this straight...... I have paid for content on itunes, bought the apple devicds in order to play said content, now I have to subscribe $25 for the privilage of playing MY library content on MY other devices. Which wasn't such an issue to do before the new and improved itunes version!!
    Have I got that correct.  I think I cannot associate my other iOS devices with my library because I am unwilling to pay further through the nose!!!???  or am I missing something?
    Thanks
    Frustrated even more now!!

    I am already logged on via the laptop, and can add the iPhone if Safari could only get to the first page!!

  • Error message:OLAPConnect Error : A connection cannot be made.Error in SP5?

    We recently applied service pack 5 into our environment.  We are running BPC 7.0 MS on SQL 2008.  Now I am receiving this OLAPConnectError when trying to delete an appset.  I saw the post listed below however I feel this issue is different so I posted a new thread.
    When the delete appset process starts it runs a step to delete the OLAP database (4 out of 6 times it did) and then fails with the OLAPConnectError.  I was wondering if this is a bug in SP5 that somehow the order of delete package got reversed.  Everything else is working fine.
    Also I was attempting to post the screenshot as others have but I do not see an option.
    Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

    Hi , I have the same problem.
    I submitted the problem to the SAP Support but the answer has been to reinstall the system without specifying what setting are to be applied in the installation procedure.
    Because the system is working fine apart the appset deletion , I haven't planned at the moment to reinstall partly without knowing what to change.
    I thought my problem could be due to the sql server system ( db server and olap server ) which is on a non-default instance .
    I have set the port to fixed value bacause - I thought - the cause could be the dynamic port used (by default ) by a non default instance.
    Unfortunately the setting above did not resolve the issue.
    Anyone has an idea ?
    Note please that also the SAP support couldn't help me.

  • SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services Deployment Wizard broken after SP1

    I have installed SQL Server 2012 SP1, now I cannot edit Data Source Connection Strings anymore in the Deployment Wizard.
    When clicking the button labeled "..." I get an error "Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Data.ConnectionUI, Version=8.0.0.0' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference".
    This happened on two different 2008 R2 servers and local windows 7 desktop, SP1 Cumulative Update 1 does not fix the error.
    Please help!

    I managed to fix it by modifying the Workaround from Microsoft a bit.
    Microsoft Fix: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2809127/
    Summary of fix:
    Open the following configuration file in a text editor, such as Notepad, as an administrator:
    <var class="sbody-var" style="box-sizing:border-box;"><system drive>:</var>\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\ManagementStudio\Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Deployment.exe.config
    2. Insert the runtime XML tags after the </startup> tag in the configuration section:<configuration>
    <startup>
    <requiredRuntime version="v4.0.30319" safemode="true" />
    </startup>
    <runtime>
    <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
    <dependentAssembly>
    <assemblyIdentity name="Microsoft.Data.ConnectionUI" publicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a" culture="neutral"/>
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.0.0-9.0.0.0" newVersion="10.0.0.0"/>
    </dependentAssembly>

    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.0.0-9.0.0.0" newVersion="10.0.0.0"/>
    </dependentAssembly>
    </assemblyBinding>
    </runtime>
    </configuration>
    What i did to make it work:
    <configuration>
      <startup>
        <requiredRuntime version="v4.0.30319" safemode="true" />
      </startup>
      <runtime>
                    <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
                                    <dependentAssembly>
                                    <assemblyIdentity name="Microsoft.Data.ConnectionUI" publicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a" culture="neutral"/>
                                    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="10.0.0.0" newVersion="8.0.0.0"/>
                                    </dependentAssembly>
                    <dependentAssembly>
                                    <assemblyIdentity name="Microsoft.Data.ConnectionUI.Dialog" publicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a" culture="neutral"/>
                                    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="10.0.0.0" newVersion="8.0.0.0"/>
                  </dependentAssembly>
                    </assemblyBinding>
       </runtime>
    </configuration>
    Instead of redirecting from version 8 and 9 to 10, i reverted it and made sure it uses version 8.

  • SSAS 2012 (SP2) - Connecting to a Named Instance in a Failover Cluster

    I posted this question some months ago and never got a resolution...still having the same problem. (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/4178ba62-87e2-4672-a4ef-acd970ac1011/ssas-2012-sp1-connecting-to-a-named-instance-in-a-failover-cluster?forum=sqlanalysisservices)
    I have a 3 node failover cluster installation (active-passive-passive) configured as follows:
    Node1: DB Engine 1 (named instance DB01)
    Node2: DB Engine 2 (named instance DB02)
    Node3: Analysis Services (named instance DBAS)
    Obviously, the node indicated is merely the default active node for each service, with each service able to fail from node to node as required.
    Strangely, when I attempt to connect to the SSAS node using the cluster netbios "alias" (dunno, what else it would be called, so I apologize if I am mixing terminology or somesuch), I am only able to do so by specifying the the alias _without_ the
    required named instance. If I issue a connection request using an external program or even SSMS using Node3\DBAS or Node3.domain\DBAS, it appears that the SQL Server Browser is offering up a bogus TCP port for the named instance (in my case TCP/58554), when
    in reality, the SSAS service is running on TCP/2383 (confirmed with netstat) -- which if I understand correctly after much, much reading on the subject is the only port that can be used in a failover cluster. In any case, I'm puzzled beyond words. As I think
    through it, I believe I've seen this issue in the past, but never worried about it since it wasn't necessary to specify the named instance when I had SSAS requirements... It's only a showstopper now because I'm finalizing my implementation of SCVMM/SCOM 2012
    R2, and for some strange reason the PRO configuration in VMM gets all butthurt if you don't offer up a named instance...
    Thank you much for reading. I appreciate any help to get this resolved.
    POSSIBLY NOT RELEVANT...?
    I've properly configured the SPNs for the SSAS service (MSOLAPSvc.3) and the SQL Browser (MSOLAPDisco.3), with the former mapped to the SSAS service account and the latter to the cluster "alias" (since it runs as "NT AUTHORITY\LOCALSERVICE"
    as is customary) and have permitted delegation on the service and machine accounts as required. So, I'm not getting any kerberos issues with the service...any more, that is... ;) I'm not sure that's important, but I wanted to be forthcoming with details to
    help solve the issue.

    When connecting to SSAS in a cluster, you do not specify an instance name.  In your case, you would use the name of the SSAS IP address to connect.
    See:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn141153.aspx
    For servers deployed in a failover cluster, connect using the network name of the SSAS cluster. This name is specified during SQL Server setup, as
    SQL Server Network Name. Note that if you installed SSAS as a named instance onto a Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC), you never add the instance name on the connection. This practice is unique to SSAS; in contrast, a named
    instance of a clustered relational database engine does include the instance name. For example, if you installed both SSAS and the database engine as named instance (Contoso-Accounting) with a SQL Server Network Name of SQL-CLU, you would connect to SSAS using
    "SQL-CLU" and to the database engine as "SQL-CLU\Contoso-Accounting". See
    How to Cluster SQL Server Analysis Services for more information and examples.

  • Could not load file or assembly issue with SSAS Deployment Wizard

    Hi
    I am getting an error when trying to update 'Data Source Connection Strings' under 'Specify Configuration Properties' of the SSAS Deployment Wizard.
    Unhandled exception occurred: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Data, Version=8.0.0.0 ...
    Well, it used to be 'version = 10.0.0.0. It changed to version 8 after trying to fix it for hours by googling and so on.
    I just can not make it work. I really need to make it work as I need to use the deployment wizard to deploy the project to the production server. (Looks like this is the only way as the server is not part of domain, just a standalone server hosted on a cloud).
    on top of my head, I remember installing everything under SQL2012 DVD  D:\redist\VSTA.
    Visit Micirosoft site and download components and so on..
    I have two other servers, one with SQL2008R@ and SQL2012. Both are ok. But this server which I want to use it as the production server is causing me an issue. ah...  I can not make it work. Please help me!
    Kind regards

    Hi Dustin
    You do  not need to be concerned if your app references 32 or 64 bit assemblies. VS being 32 bit, needs to reference 32 bit assemblies in order to compile correctly. Thus running the app from the VS IDE, you wil be using 32 bit assemblies. Using a compiled exe or a DLL, the app will use 32 bit or 64 bit assemblies depending on how the app was compiled and "bitness" of the OS.
    E.g;; an app compiled as 32 bit will require 32 bit assemblies
    An app compiled as 64 bit will run 64 bit assemblies - on 64 bit OS only.
    An app compiled as "Any CPU", will run 32 b it or 64 bit assemblies, depending on the OS. On a 64 bit OS, the app will by definition use 64 bit assemblies (but it is up to you to deploy the 64 bit runtime - not the 32 bit runtime). On a 32 bit OS the app will use 32 bit assemblies.

  • When deploy: Wizard error a connection to the deployment share could not be made "check physical connection"

    Hello everybody,
    yet another issue with deploying a masterdisk. I will give you a short explanation of the situation.
    I need to deploy Windows 8.1 PRO x86.
    Using: Microsoft Deployment Workbench Microsoft Version: 6.2.5019.0
    1. Reference PC: Windows 8.1 PRO x86 is installed on ORACLE Virtual Box.
    2.  I installed  MDT on my workstation Windows 7 x64, where "C:\DeploymentShare\Windows8" is located.
    3. To change the Unattended.xml file, I have second ORACLE Virtual Box with
    Windows 8.1 PRO x86 with MDT, which connected to the DeploymentShare of Windows 7 x64.
     - The reason is because the Reference PC is x86 and the Unattended.xml file can be changed only if MDT is installed on x86 Windows, otherwise it is not possible.
    The image capture is successful.
    Then I create bootable USB device using rufus-1.4.12.exe. I use: C:\DeploymentShare\Windows8\Boot\LiteTouchPE_x86.iso
    I use a real PC (not virtual machine) and when the deployment starts
    I see:
    1 Welcome screen, where I select: Run the deployment wizard to  install a new operating system.
    2. The next screen is an error screen where I see the error:
    "Wizard error
    A connection to the deployment share (\\ComputerName\C\DeployemntShare )could not be made
    DHCP Lease was not obtained for any Networking devices!
    Possible cause: Check physical connection
    I am relatively new with MDT.
    Any suggestions are more than welcome.

    Nick,
    Thank you for the answer!
    Yesterday, I figured out that I need to create an offline bootable disk.
    The issue is caused, because creating a bootable disk with rufus.exe include only the ISO file and not the WIM file. That is the reason why during OS installation process it asks me for the shared folder...

  • SSIS Connection Manager: MSOLAP100 where is the one for SSAS 2012 ?

    I have an SSIS project under SSDT, that should process a SSAS 2012 Cube, when I setup the connection, the SSIS Connection Manager gives me only MSOLAP100 as a possible connection manager type. From my understanding this is the one for SQL 2008 R2. Where
    is the one for SSAS 2012 and how can I enable it ?
    I feel this is a bug in SSDT:
    I used another UI dialog and could create a new connection like this:
    Still it says ConnectionManagerType MSOLAP100, however in the connection string I now have Provider=MSOLAP.5, this seems to be another SSDT bug.

    If this issue can be reproduced in multiple machines, then you can you can submit a feedback at
    http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope it is released in the next release of service pack or product.

  • A connection to the deployment share cannot be made

    i am trying to update  a PC from XP to windows 7 with MDT2012.
    i have import the OS in the workbench,and created  a task sequence,then i update the deployment share.On the XP machine I have started the LiteTouch.vbs script.After it capture the user profile,and restart the machine.The problem start.It printde "A
    connection to the deployment share cannot be made".

    WHen in WinPE, you can press F8 to get a command prompt. You should then go through the usual steps to debug the bad network connection, ipconfig /all, ping GZZJOPC998, net use * \\GZZJOPC998\DeploymentShare$ .
    Chances are that WinPE does *not* have the latest and greatest drivers for your device. check the x:\windows\system32\wpeinit.log to verify that the OS found the driver and installed it. If not, find the driver from your OEM/IHV, and import into MDT. Don't
    forget to update the deployment share when done.
