SSC Configured for Computer Policies

Hi -
I'm setting up a new test client after having to reinstall the ZENWorks Server as a multiple server (because we need the reporting service). I am now running into an issue where every time I attempt to install the client on a system I get the following message :
SSC Configured for Computer-based Policies
This computer's authentication information is currently unavailable. If you continue to see this warning, you will either need to rejoin the domain or contact your network administrator.
When I checked the Event Viewer / Application log, I see MSSoap errors - which according to some of the information I've found so far on the forums seems to point towards a certificate issue. However I installed the certificate manually on the test system and still get his error. Also rejoining the doman has no effect.
I'm am working in a Windows environment with AD - client workstations are XP Pro.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks.

We had problems with MS SOAP errors after reinstalling. Our cert didn't match the server name, and we got it working with just adding another cert that did and making sure that all the DNS entries resolved clearly. Forgive me, but it was a few months ago, and I was brand new to the company and product, and my notes aren't the best.
- Things I Do remember...making sure the cert was there for the client, as it was login specfic. (we finally loaded it with group policy upon login.)
- I remember using Scenario 2 from Support document 3788192, to check the cert manually.
- And also Support Document 3594251 had some interesting stuff to check. Specifically the website validations (shieldclient.asmx, policyserver.soap, userservice.asmx, and authenticationhelper.soap). Also in this document was checking Guest or IUSR account rights. These were not correct on our server.
I think it ended up being multiple problems for us, but for sure those rights made a difference.
Good luck!

  • Registry startup script for computer-based proxy configuration

I am attempting to deploy computer-based proxy server settings via importing a .reg file to user PCs as a startup script. It has appeared to work on some PCs but not on others. We have a mix of Windows XP Professional x86 and Windows 7 Professional x64 PCs
    in our domain.
I am not sure whether to use "reg import" or "regedit /s" in my batch script.
Before trying the batch script method, using "Computer Configuration > Preferences > Registry" settings did not work.
I have created a GPO, applied it to an OU containing computers and used the following settings:
Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Scripts > Startup
    Batch Script: regedit /s \\FQDN\netlogon\wmproxy.reg
    Registry File:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
    "ProxyEnable"=dword:00000001
    "MigrateProxy"=dword:00000001
    "ProxyOverride"="<local>"
    "ProxyServer"="proxy.FQDN:8080"
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components/Internet Explorer
Disable changing proxy settings = Enabled
Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user) = Enabled
As at the beginning of my post, the settings deploy to some PCs but not all and I have yet to see it work on the Windows 7 PCs. Am I attempting computer-based proxy settings the wrong way, or am I missing something with how I am currently trying to deploy
    it?
    Thanks all!

    Hi,
You mentioned you have tried to configure the computer-based proxy settings via GPP but it didn’t work. Before going further, would you please let me know how did you configure the settings?
In order to narrow down the cause of the issue, I suggest we’d better collect the following information.
    GPMC.log
    ==================
    a. On domain controller, click Start ->Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console.
    b. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the problematic computer and user account (please place appropriately). (Choose computer and select the proper
    user in the wizard)
    c. Right click
the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file.
Once we get the GPMC.log, please check the detailed report logged in it.
You said you have created a startup script to edit the registry key to configure the proxy setting of the computer but it worked on only some of the computers in the domain. Have you tried
to run the script on the problematic computer manually to see if it works? If it still fails to run, it could be related to the script issue, then we’d better ask in the script forum.

  • Skipping request for user policy assignments due to agent configuration for authority

    Hello all,
    Symptoms:
The Configuration Manager only shows the following actions:
    Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle
Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
    Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle
User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
In Software Center there are no applications visible. Also the default 'IT Organization' is shown instead of the 'real' name.
    The Confugration Manager:
shows in the tab 'General' the correct Management point. Connection type is 'currently intranet' (ok)
shows in the tab 'Site' the correct site code.
shows in the tab 'Components' all components as either 'installed' or 'enabled'. Only CCM Notification Agent shows 'Disabled'.
In SCCM 2012 under 'Client Settings' -> 'Default Settings' -> 'Client Policy' the setting 'Enable User policy on clients' has been enabled.
    Done so far (without success):
    Re-installed the MP
Run a query on the SCCM Database to check if there are any corrupt records. There are not.
    Installed version 5.00.7958.1000
    CCM Framework: 5.00.7958.1203
The computer is installed with a task sequence. There is a reboot after 'Setup Windows and ConfigMgr (CM2012 R2 CU1)'.
Installation command of the SCCM Client (during OSD deployment):
    SMSCACHEFLAGS=PERCENTDISKSPACE SMSCACHESIZE=10 SMSSLP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local SMSMP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local PATCH="%_SMSTSMDataPath%\OSD\TDS00020\KB2938441\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb2938441-i386.msp"

It is about the PSComputerName: that is the name of the machine on which the capture was made. So I suppose the problem is already in the image. Is my statement correct or is it not relevant?

  • GPO Run these programs at user logon not taking effect when configured in Computer Configuration section

    [EDIT 20140207]:
I found that the default domain policy sets "run these programs at user logon" and (other than I expected) not BOTH GPO settings become active, but the setting from the default domain policy overrides the setting from my new GPO. So I think I have
    found the answer myself.
When on our W2k8-R2 DC I create a new GPO and configure
"Computer Configuration/Policies/Windows Settings/Administrative Templates/System/Logon/run these programs at user logon" to "c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe" (just for testing) it won't take effect on Win 7 SP1, no matter what the Security
    Filtering options are.
It seems other settings (in the very same GPO) become active but "run these programs at user login" from the computer policies section doesn't. I configure the very same setting in the section "user policies" instead and add "Authenticated
Users" to Security Filtering, the program will be started. But that's not what I need.
I can reproduce the issue, here are the exact steps:
create a new group "group-a" for later security filtering
    create a new GPO
in the new GPO set "Computer Configuration/Policies/Windows Settings/Administrative Templates/System/Logon/run these programs at user logon" to "c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe"
for setting the scope remove "authenticated users" from Security Filtering and add "group-a" instead
link the GPO to the domain root
make "test computer" a member of "group-a"
on "test computer" run "gpupdate /force", reboot, log in
Issue: notepad is not being started.
What I'm aiming for is obvious: Depending on the membership of group-a I want to configure certain programs that should be started whenever a user logs in.
gpresult /R returns that it would be applying the GPO. (It actually is but the setting "run these programs at user login" is not being applied.)
For debugging I started MMC / RSoP on one of the machines on which the GPO should have been applied and found that "run these programs at user login" is not set (which seems to be the reason why the GPO won't work on the machines).
Searching the web I found similar reports
[1] [2] but no solution was found and the user used a workaround instead.
If I change the GPO so that I use the very same setting in "user configuration" instead of "computer configuration" it works as long as I add "authenticated users" to the Security Filtering. But then the GPO is applied to all users
and not only to the ones using computers which are members of group-a. According to this howto [3] I should not remove "authenticated users" but alter the security setting instead. However, the howto seems to be aimed ad w2k3 and using Win2k8 I cannot
find security settings "apply" for "authenticated users" so I cannot remove that setting, there's only "read" or "read and modify".
    So two questions:
    1. Why doesn't it work when using "computer settings"
    2. What about that Security Filtering with removing "authenticated users" and using group-a instead?
    T.

011-11-28 10:05:43: [rv120w][IKE] ERROR:  Could not find configuration for 212.183.140.51[65212]

The error that you are getting that shows in the log file by the "pings being blocked" it refers to the connection being block by the firewall or security on your computer.
Things that you should look for is: What type of internet security software you are using will a lot of the time block QVPN from working.
With Windows 7 it has a lot of added security so the windows 7 Firewall has to be on because soon as the firewall is turn off or another firewall is loaded that turns off Win7 firewall, the Win7 OS turns off IPSEC and that is needed for quick VPN to work. Hope this has been helpful and gave you some more understanding.

I have a Samsung VGA Monitor connected to my MacBook Pro using the Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter.  How do I configure the computer so that it doesn't sleep when I close the lid of the computer.

    Hi alangium,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!

    18. What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter?
The resolution available with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter is 1920 x 1200. VGA displays that use higher refresh rates (such as 85 Hz) at resolutions of 1600 x 1200 or greater may not generate video properly until you lower the refresh rate.

    How can I detect displays?
If the detect displays option is not available, hold down the Option key while you are in the Display pane.
How do I select additional resolutions on my display?
You can use the Display pane of System Preferences to specify how your display works. Not all options appear for all display models. By default the best resolution for your display will already be selected in System Preferences.
To select a different resolution, use the Scaled option. Some additional resolutions may be available when you hold the Option button.

  • Doesn't play songs, "itunes is not configured for use with mac-formatted"??

Hi, new ipod shuffle. Seems to charge fine, all indicator lights function as expected. Everything looks fine in itunes. But it doesn't play songs. I have the most recent versions of itunes and the ipod software. Re-set, updated, and restored, nothing works. Even restored using the restore utility. Re-started computer. Checked for volume control. Won't play songs. Tried different file types. Songs play fine from itunes library and from the device's library within itunes. Tried different headphones. Hooked it up to computer speakers. Turning volume all the way up on device and speakers, heard some very faint rhythmic static, so my guess is the jack socket (or whatever you call it) is just messed up, but it seems weird that it can transfer power and data to the device but doesn't work for sound...
The only other issues that have come up is that the drive disappears in explorer once it syncs with itunes. Other people who've noticed this seem to have completely different problems so I don't think it's related.
Also, I have MacDrive on my computer. And when it starts up with the ipod plugged in, MacDrive offers the message "Itunes is not configured for use with Mac-formatted ipods." It offers to automatically reconfigure itunes so it can read mac-formatted ipods. Since I've restored the device, I don't see why formatting should be an issue so I say "no."
Should I try letting macdrive do its format thing? Should I try formatting the ipod disk on the My Computer menu? Or should I just email apple and tell them the jack's busted?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

Well, I have had my iPod for about 3 years, it is a 4th generation non-video 40 GB. One day it just stopped working, and now it does not play any songs. when I turn it on it makes this odd whirring sounds that computers make when they try really hard to do something. I cannot charge it, and it is not recognized by iTunes. Also when I turn it on, I get the apple.com/ipod/support (or whatever it is) screen. Needless to say, my warranty is expired, and so I cannot do anything for it except get a new battery, or buy a new one. Is there any way to fix this problem, or anyone out there who is experiencing the same thing?
I'm having the exact same problem with my wife's iPod. However it will play about 3 seconds of a song and go onto the next song.
If there is anyone out there that can help please do!

  • Problem in setting up XCM Configuration for Local Server

    Hi
I have installed Local J2ee engine on my computer and have deployed E Commerce B2B B2C sca packages.
I am trying to complete the XCM configuration for my Local Engine. For below 4 links, I have done the configuration, creation of JCO, Shop, etc is done and have tested the JCO, the test is successful.   JCOs are pointing to ECC 6.0 which is development server and on development server the XCM configuration is working fine.
    http://<host>:<port>/b2b/admin/xcm/init.do
    http://<host>:<port>/b2c/admin/xcm/init.do
    http://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/admin/xcm/init.do
    http://<host>:<port>/shopadmin/admin/xcm/init.do
But below 2 links are not working and I am getting "Page can not be displayed" error.
    http://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/init.do
    http://<host>:<port>/shopadmin/init.do
I need to created 2 shops in http://<host>:<port>/shopadmin/init.do but since the page is not displaying I am not able to proceed and hence when I try to login to b2b b2c application
    http://<host>:<port>/b2b/init.do and http://<host>:<port>/b2c/ init.do , I am getting an error
"The shoplist read from buffer is empty",
I think this error can be resolved by creating 2 shops in http://<host>:<port>/shopadmin/init.do, but
    http://<host>:<port>/shopadmin/init.do itself in not displaying.
    Please can you help.
    Thanks

    Hi
I checked the mentioned Patch Levels, everything seems to be fine.
After I did few changes in JCOs and checked the XCM configuration throughly shopadmin URL (http://<host>:<port>/shopadmin/shopadmin/init.do) has started working.
Now I have maintained 2 shops and can see the B2B and B2C web portals fine.
But as soon as I select any material, it is giving error saying error in XCM configuration related to IPC.
could you pleaase help me out with this?
Also, as soon as I click on the B2B Login link, it dumps.
And useradmin URL  http://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/useradmin/init.do   is still giving "Page can not be displayed",
These problems are related to XCM configuration, but not sure where exactly and which configuration is missing. please can you suggest ? Any XCM configuration related document will also be helpful.
    Regards,

  • Needs to be configured for Windows... but it already is!

I just bought a brand new 80GB iPod Classic today. I hooked it up to my laptop's USB port, and the first time it showed up in my iTunes directory. Unfortunately iTunes informed that my iPod was corrupted, so I restored it. This happened TWICE.
The third time I hooked it up, the iPod didn't show up in the directory, but a pop-box appeared telling me that the iPod needed to be configured for Windows, and would I like to configure now? I clicked yes, and nothing happened. Once I checked the iPod, I saw that the Version was 1.0.2. PC.
Any ideas how to get my iPod up and running? Thanks in advance.
    iTunes version: 7.4.3.1.

You need to connect your phone to iTunes on your COMPUTER, not on your phone.

  • I want to enforce MCX computer policies, but all my users are admins...

    Hi Jim
I have an interesting situation that maybe you have dealt with in the past. Maybe I can pick your brain. I am very familiar with Mac OS X, but new to MCX and OD.
I am deploying ~200-400 Macs in Q1 08. All of them will be Intel iMacs running 10.5.x (Leopard). I am going to be running both AD (for authentication/authorization) and OD (for MCX). My OD servers will be running Leopard Server (Xserves)
I want to manage all of the Mac computers via MCX. One gotcha: My CIO has insisted that all the Mac users will be administrators. Rather than trying to manually set each user up as a local admin, I have created a AD group called "Mac Power Users" and each user that gets a Macintosh system will be in this group. My master Netinstall Mac image is set to acknowledge the AD "Mac Power Users" group as a valid admin group via the Directory Utility, and thus any Mac bound to AD will see the Mac AD effectively users as administrators. Dont ask why I have to do this - its a political issue and even our current 400 Windows XP desktops are setup like this too. Grrr.
Anyway - I want to manage basic settings via OD/MCX like automounts, Web proxies, loginwindow settings & maybe printers too. Mostly computer based policies, not much user or group level policies will be needed (I hope)
Question: If all my users are considered local admins based on the AD "Mac Power Users" group, will they override my OD/MCX policies? If so, is there any way to allow them to be admins but still enforce computer policies via MCX?
Its the chicken and the egg!
    TIA

    Hi
If I understand you correctly then you should be able to do this using computer lists. Don’t be tempted to use or delete the default ones already there, create a new one instead and add all of your clients to that list. You can use the diaresis (3 dots) button to discover all of your clients (they have to be turned on and have unique names eg: iMac01, iMac02 etc). Its actually better if you manually add the clients to the list by collating all the MAC addresses. Although if you use the Server’s DHCP Service then you can generally get away without doing this. You should also disable automatic logins.
    Apply managed preferences from there.
Managed preferences applied to computer lits are applied to the hardware and as such it will not matter whether network or local users are admins or not. You’ll also notice that there are a few extra settings that can be managed at computer level that are not available in either Users or Groups. Login Window and Energy Saver settings for example. The order in which MCX are applied are Users, Computer Lists and Groups. Managed preferences are also accumulative.

  • What is the recommenden access port QoS configuration for 8900/9900 video enabled phones

    Hi all,
we are currently starting to roll out some video enabled 9900 and 8900 phones in our network. In the past we did not use video and configured the access ports on our Catalyst 2960 switches with "auto qos voip ciscp-phone". This however creates a policy which does not include a class-map to correctly handle the AF41 video traffic coming from those phones. I have thougth about extending the autoqos policy with a AF41 class-map but am not sure if this is the right way to do it.
That's what I have in mind:
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VIDEO_DATA_CLASS
      match ip dscp af41
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VOIP_DATA_CLASS
      match ip dscp ef
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_DEFAULT_CLASS
      match access-group name AUTOQOS-ACL-DEFAULT
    class-map match-all AUTOQOS_VOIP_SIGNAL_CLASS
      match ip dscp cs3
    policy-map AUTOQOS-SRND4-CISCOPHONE-POLICY
     class AUTOQOS_VOIP_DATA_CLASS
       set dscp ef
      police 128000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_VIDEO_DATA_CLASS
       set dscp af41
      police 1500000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_VOIP_SIGNAL_CLASS
       set dscp cs3
      police 32000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
     class AUTOQOS_DEFAULT_CLASS
       set dscp default
      police 10000000 8000 exceed-action policed-dscp-transmit
How do you guys do it ? Is there some documentation for this ?
Thank you for your kind help
    best regards
    Andreas

    Hi
You have to keep this table on your mind. Your configuration is fine if your configuration for SD video , but if for HD video , it is not ok you have to change video bandwidth at least 5M.
    Traffic Type
    Layer 2 CoS
    Layer 3 IP Precedence
    Layer 3 DSCP
    Voice RTP1
    5
    5
    EF
    Voice control
    3
    3
    AF31
    Video conference
    4
    4
    AF41
    Streaming video (IP/TV)
    1
    1
    AF13
    Data
    0-2
    0-2
    0-AF23
*Interactive Video "AF41"- Sensitive but can tolerate packet loss of about 1% and latency almost same as voice.
*Streaming Video "AF13" - Less sensitive - can tolerate about 4-5% packet loss and latency of about 4-5 seconds.
*HD video conference will require between 5M to 16M , but SD video conference will use 384K to 1 M
Note:-Video QOS , if you will assume that your video conference will use around 384K , you have to add 20% because video conference include voice so the total bandwidth 460K.

  • Hardware configuration for 5.5

    Hello Everyone!
    I am a total newbie......
Anyway, I just purchased a new computer.  Although many of you would laugh at what I bought, it was all I could afford.  There are some good things about it and some probably not.  My question is, I bought a 1.5 Tb hard drive (only 1) and I am wondering what is the best configuration for it?  Should I partition it, etc.
As I said, I am a total newb at this and I am just beginning so I will not be making re-editing any motion pictures anytime soon but just taking old 8mm family stuff and working with this as my practice stage.
    Thanks,
    -myParkster

NEVER EVER do a partition !!!
    Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0
My 3 hard drives are configured as... (WD = Western Digital)
    1 - 320G WD Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320G WD Win7 swap file and video project files
3 - 1T WD all video files... input & output files
Search Microsoft to find out how to redirect your Windows swap file

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208?tstart=0 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433?tstart=0 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used this eSata Dock... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • No servers configured for repository?

Hi, I just recently reinstalled arch, and I don't even have a DE or WM installed yet. I was just trying to install wicd to get my wifi to work, when I got this:
    :: Retrieving packages from core...
warning; failed to retrieve some files from core
error: failed to commit transaction (no servers configured for repository)
Errors occured, no packages were upgraded.
I am new to arch, so it is possible I made a mistake when installing. The computer is plugged into Ethernet, and I just recently updated arch as I installed it from an older CD (about 1 year old?)
I am logged in as root, and I did search the web and these forums for this issue and I didn't find it.
    Thank you for your time.

My mirrors were commented, but I fixed that. Now when I do pacman -S alsa-utils it goes through all my mirrors and says : "no address record" Ending with:
failed to retrieve some files from extra
error: failed to commit transaction (no address record)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
I must have messed something up big time.

  • Deny user configuration for specific computers

I have a GPO that has user configuration's in it that deletes and updates a ini file. I want to deny this GPO for 2 computers we use in QA, but the Advanced delegation that deny's apply group policy I assume only works for computer configurations. Is there
a way to set this up, or do I have to move these computers to a different OU and block inheritance?

How exactly do you do this?

No. Computers do not process user configuration, so you need to use one
    of the following methods:
    a) if you use group policy preferences, you can implement item level
targeting for computer names or computer security group membership
    b) if you use a script or whatever, you can use a wmi filter with a
    query like
select * from win32_computername where (name != "computera" and name !=
    "computerb")
