SSD issues... Kingston SSD now 100 64 Gb SSD in a Mac book Core 2 Duo.

I am trying to clone my OSX 10.6.3 mac book. Its one of the first intel based mac books running on ddr2 and a 2.4 Ghz core 2 duo. After cloning the HD to the SSD using the Disk utility (restore option) my mac book will not boot on the SSD. Any suggestions? Has anyone done this before. Help is much appropriated. Thanks.

Did you first format the disk using Disk Utility?
And instead of DU, try SuperDuper for the cloning:

  • Intel Mac Mini Core Duo Midi USB Issues

Is anyone else having issues getting Midi devices to work with the Intel Mac Mini's? I have several Midi devices that are't working correctly event though I have installed the newest drivers.
Currently I am having issues with a M-Audio Midisport 2x2 USB adapter. I loaded the newest drivers (ver 3.2.2) which are supposed to be universal binary to support the Intel Macs. When I connect the Midisport 2x2 to the Mac Mini I can not get it to receive Midi Output from the Mac.
When I look in the Midi control pannel I can see that the Midisport has been installed, but all options to select it are greyed out. Also when I try to select it as the input or output there is NO option to select the Midisport from the pull down menu. It only shows the "Built-in Midi" as and option.
The Midisport works fine on other non-Intel Macs. Please advise.
    Thanks!
Mac Mini Intel Duo Core 1.66Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It seems like the mini is doing alright so far. I think maybe the full erase solved whatever issue it was having. I also got my Core Duo Mini yesterday in the mail and it's performing like a champ. Definitely a nice machine.
I'll close my question for now, since the Core Solo Mini seems alright. But, as a warning don't get on Front Row's bad side. I tried force quitting it because it was taking too long to load the videos folder and then tried shutting down from a terminal and ended up having to turn the machine off.

  • Desperate!! Printer issues, Can´t print, can´t scan on my Mac Book Pro.

Have issues printing and scanning from my Mac Book Pro on a Epson Stylus TX110 printer/scanner. This printer used to work fine on my old windows based laptop. However. When tried to install the software from the original disk, on my new mac, got an error message that could not recognized the application (My guess is that software was old.)
Went to EPSON support website, located the drivers for my printer, TX110_scan_3730 GM2.dmg and TX110_115_653APS_C2_GM.dmg
Downloaded them and ran the script and went through the whole process of installing, it said it finished installing both applications, but I can-t find the printing applications or run the scanner...
Desperate... need to scan and print!

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below. If you use any iWork applications, you may need to delete them and redownload them from the App Store.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Downloaded Yosemite and now can't open photoshop on Mac Book Pro?

I have downloaded Yosemite on MacBook Pro and now can't open photoshop.
I have updated Java but still no help.
Anyone know anything about this please?

If you updated the OS after Photoshop 5.x was installed, the nefarious Yosemite disjointed beast damaged your Photoshop installation.  Thank Apple for that.
You need to UNinstall Photoshop again, look for, download and run the Adobe CS Cleaner Tool, Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility, install Photoshop from scratch again, apply any and all available Photoshop updates, and ONCE AGAIN Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility—in that precise order.

  • Hi, I accidentally erased my HD library, now I can't start my Mac book pro. Any suggestions? Thnx

The reason I did this was because there were two "library" folders in my HD and I was convinced one of them was a copy since they were identical.

I guess I should bring that disc with me in the future!
Actually you do not have to do that.  Just burn a boot copy of your system discs that came with your computer or the universal install discs.  Keep the bootable copy inside your travel computer bag and the originals home.
1.insert the leopard install DVD, open disk utility and select the whole DVD (model, not name) in disk utility.
    2. go to File menu->new->disk image from the DVD. select CD/DVD master for format.
    3. once the disk image is created, eject the install DVd and insert a blank DL DVD+R. drag the disk image to Disk utility, select it there and click "burn" in the toolbar.

  • Hello, I just bought macbook air - and now would like to give my granddaughter my old mac book. I've deleted all my documents, photos, but am unsure how to empty my iTunes music.  All my stuff is now on my new computer and I do not want to lose my music!

Now that I bought my new MAc Book Air - if I empty my music from my old computer will I lose all my music on my new computer - ipod etc...
My granddaughter is waiting in the wings to get my old in great shape mac book!  thanks

if I empty my music from my old computer will I lose all my music on my new computer - ipod etc...
No. Be sure you have transferred the entire contents of your old /Home/Music/ folder.
Create a new user account on your old computer. Have your granddaughter tell you what she would like the username to be and what password she wants. Be sure to set the new account with Administrative authority. Then log into this new account and delete your old account.

  • 6465b - Bios and ssd issue. Intel 520 not recognized by BIOS.

    Hi,
I am writing with 2 issues.
    First, BIOS issue.
BIOS F.20 for 6465b and 6565b is no longer available. The current version on HP support page is BIOS F.03. Anybody know why it was changed?
When will be released F.22 which should enable support for SATA III, as F.22 for 6x60b notebook?
Second, ssd issue, which I believe is connected with Bios.
I've bought Intel 520 120gb SSD and it is not recognized by BIOS. When I put it as primary hard drive and turn notebook on,i go 5 blink of caps + num lock, and al stuck.
I can't install system. But ssd works when in external eSATA enclosure. So it isn't ssd related problem.
I know for sure that 320, m4 are perfectly working on 6465b. Other SF drives, Force GT and Agility 3, too.
What is wrong with 520, and how it can be resolved. I think only new BIOs, unfortunately.

I can confirm that an Intel 520 SSD in combination with an HP 6465b is an issue.. The CAPS + Scroll blink 5 times while in POST. This indicates a general mainboard issue, but I am 100% sure that there is an incompatibility between the two
I have installed BIOS F.21 and the firmware of the Intel SSD is standard (errrr 300i if I'm not mistaken).
Right now the laptop is useless (it has to have a SSD drive for our developer-dudes) so I'm hoping HP will release F.22 soon.. Where did you find that F.22 will add support for SATAIII?
Stupid thing is, when I put the drive in a really old beast (HP nx7400) the SSD works without hickups.

  • Mac air SSD issue

my mac air is 2012-mid 13inch 128G ssd model, but i cannot upgrade the ssd firmware 1.1 version. No update available in Appstore and if i download from the apple website, it shows not need install in this mac, what can i do now ?

As per the Apple statement--- " This update tests your drive and, in the majority of cases, installs new firmware to resolve the issue. "
what message did you get upon/after installing same?

  • SSD Issues HP Envy 4-1101sa

Hi, I am using HP Envy 4-1101sa. It had builtin 500gb hardisk. I purchased new SSD Drive ScaDisk Ultra II 120gb n replaced it with 500gb HDD, I want my system to be more fast. I installed fresh windows on new SSD hardisk, Now I face problem of Critical Process Died every now & than,  I think It might be issue of new SSD with system. there is one builin msata SSD 32gb in system as well, or I think it might be compitable issue with these 2 SSD hardrives.  I have few question now. What If I remove msata would be any issue? will my system work fine without it?Is there any issue of compatibility of SSD with system or may be msata SSD?I have formated that msata as well Can I reinstall the windows in that? One more issue I face, When my pc restart sometime it doesnt detect my new SSD where the operating system is installed & it give me error no operating system found. If I restart number of time than It works. What is the best solution for me now? I am quite stuck here. Thanks Mujtaba Shuja

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 4-1101sa Ultrabook and issues with MSata. You do not see this in your service guide(page 46) as a supported drive as it is not supported with your Notebook.  Your interface connection type is Sata and the Disc rotation speed is 7200 RPM or 5400 RPM.   You could order parts at HP by entering in your serial number. An external Hard Drive might work better for you. I hope this helps. Thanks.

  • Installed SSD and 8GB ram, Now Drive wont read Cds

I have a late 09 15" Macbook Pro.  Today I installed an OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD and 8gb of Crucial ram, I also disabled SMS and made it so the drives wouldnt go to sleep.  Everything works REALLY fast and great except for some reason now when I put a CD in, the computer thinks its blank.  Dvds work fine.
Any ideas?  Maybe I bumped the connector on the drive?

I booted off of my old drive just to see if its a SSD issue.  It does the exact same thing booting form the original hard drive.  Also I took the optical drive out and gave it a visual, double checked the connections too.  I also tried to reenable SMS and that didnt make any difference.  It all seems OK, but it still doesnt like CDs.
Seems odd that my drive would stop working at the exact same time that I change to an SSD.
