Ssd not avalable in osx 10.5.8

After the proud hardware install of the solid state drive OCZ Agility 3 60Gb sata III. My Apple Powermac G5 7.5  1.6Mhz Single core intel970 wont show this drive at all.
I am a newby on apple, so what did i do wrong
Even diskutility's doesnt show the drive, so i cant format it or do anything whit it.
For me and everyone here, guide me trough if you want

This is correct.
I have a G5 Quad system. When I tried to install an Intel series 510 120gig ssd, the motherboard could not see it in the top drive slot. Adding a normal hard drive to the bottom slot did not make a difference, nor did booting it from a hard disk in bottom slot and looking for the top slot ssd in finder.
However, putting the ssd in the bottom slot, made it available. I was able to install 10.5 on it without problems. Later I added in a normal hard disk to the top slot, and both work together fine.
I only say this applies on the Quad G5 Powermac, with Intel 120gig series 510 ssd. I have no idea if other drives or G5 versions will behave the same.

  • Why is my replacement SSD not recognized by OSX?

I purchased the OSX Server, not realizing how slow the 5400 RPM hard drives are for running programs.  I have a mac book air with a similar processor and SSD, and it flys!  So I figured if I took one of my SSD's out of a PC that it would work.  Well, I took out one of the two 1TB OSX hard drives out and replaced it with the SSD.  And so far no matter what I cant get OSX to recognize it durring recovery as a drive, or have it recognized in OSX once booted using the hard drive cable that was attached to the 1TB drive and the mother board connector.
So I put the computer back together, feeling defeated, then remembered that I might be able to plug in a sata to USB 3.0 converter and voila I'm now booting off of an external SSD drive for the last few days.
My question is why wont it work using the internal connectors?

  • SSD Not recognised by OSX when Plugged in to any MP drive bay?

I've just plugged a new OCZ 3.5" SSD into my Mac Pro and I get no pops-up to say it's been seen by the OS and Disk Utility can't see it. I've tried in all 4 bays with same result.
Is this likely to be a duff drive or am I doing something stupid?
    Thanks
    Paul

Do you have the Apple RAID card installed?
If no, and the drive cannot be seen by Disk Utility, it cannot be repaired or initialized by any software means.
Is it installed straight on the sled? Is it right-side up to mate with the backplane?
Is the sled being inserted completely flat so that the connector actually mates with the backplane? (this may require lying on your back and watching it while shining a bright light inside your Mac.)

TRIM is supported on Apple-branded SSDs, but not third-party aftermarked SSDs.

  • Can not reboot into OSX from Windows using Bootcamp assistant

I'm having a bit of a problem with rebooting into OSX from Windows on bootcamp. Clicking on the icon in the system tray produces a message that Windows can not find the OSX disk. Trying to open the Bootcamp preferences also generates an error. I have no problem getting back into OSX if I shut down Windows and restart the MacPro while holding down the option key. This is with a Windows 7 install on Bootcamp, but I had the same issue with a previous install of Win XP. I nuked and paved OSX and the WIndows disk between installs so my current problem is not carry over from the XP install.

My bad I should have been more clear. The problem is actually with a XP install via bootcamp, my Win 7 install is in VM Ware Fusion.
The XP install is on a second drive. Since you asked about this I'm assuming it may be the reason Im having problems.
The error is I get when trying to access bootcamp via the Windows control panel or by right clicking the sys tray icon is - "An error occured while trying to access the start up disk settings. You may not have privileges ...blah, blah, blah. I only created one account and I have enough privliges to change admin stuff in windows so I cant see privliges being the issue. I reassigned the OSX partition a new drive letter and rebooted windows but this didn't help.
The only drivers I installed, other then updating the video driver, are the bootcamp drivers
Sys tray icon - small diamond shapped icon in systray for accessing bootcamp functions.

  • TIP: DO NOT UPGRADE TO OSX YOSEMITE!!!

If you are on a Mac (unfortunately I'm forced to use one at the office), do not, I repeat, do NOT "upgrade" to OSX Yosemite. Adobe still hasn't figured out the conflicts between EA and Yosemite. I've been fighting issues all day with lock ups, etc. If you want to keep your sanity, wait to upgrade the OS until Adobe issues a patch.
On a side note, I can't wait to get back to my PC at home. No issues there...

    My user experience with Yosemite:
Both versions can be installed "side by side". I mean: Edge 4.0 and 5.0.1

  • Screensaver is not working in OSX Yosemite

    Hi,
My screensaver is not working in OSX Yosemite on my macbook pro late 2008
Can't solve it by my self..

I had noticed I was having this issue too, and my screensaver never kicking in, and just going to sleep with it never kicking in.
I had gone in and checked to see if any of the settings had got changed or deleted in the system upgrade, but they were all still set at what I had them at prior... so, did as some attempted above also, and adjusted the times for it to kick in, and still nothing.  Worked when I would hit 'Preview', but still not kick in at the interval time.
What I just did to get it to work, was just to simply go into System Preferences>Desktop & Screensaver, and just reselected the folder of images that I want to be used, in my case, a folder of images in my iPhoto.  And it now works.
Apparently, it wasn't working, because, even though it was still selected to use that folder in iPhoto, something must have changed in the upgrades, which might of had something to to with the iPhoto update too, where it had to update my iPhoto library upon relaunch... and my screensaver settings were set to access that older directed to folder within Library, that was updated in the new release... and so, just repointing it to that folder now in iPhoto, got it to work.
At least, that is my figurin', and I'm stickin' to it!

  • I recently added my old mac hard drive to a new macbook with an SSD as my main OSX drive.  I am having trouble with permissions in viewing my old hard drive.  What is the best way to get complete access to my old hd installed in my new Macbook?

I recently added my old mac hard drive to a new macbook with an SSD as my main OSX drive. I am having trouble with permissions in viewing my old hard drive, when I save a permission when I reboot the full access is changed again .  What is the best way to get complete access to my old hd installed in my new Macbook?

Open the Get Info window for the old drive. Click the Lock icon on the bottom of that window and type in your password. In the permissions area click the Plus sign ( + ) and Add your Username to it and set it to Read & Write. Close that window. you should now have full access to all the files.

  • Since Flash CS6 Is not supported for OSX 10.8, can cloud members have Flash CS5?

Since Flash CS6 Is not supported for OSX 10.8, can cloud members have Flash CS5?
I see that Flash CS6 is not supported (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash/kb/mountain-lion-support-flash-professional.html ) . My coworkers and I are not able to see some fonts and the colorpickers are not working properly as mentioned at the URL.
Can you make the previous version of Flash available for download and use with cloud membership just for this OS X 10.8 issue.
It'd be more of a hassle for us to revert back to an older OS then to just get an extra older version of Flash on our system.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?  Have you tried resetting the iPod with it still connected to your Mac? To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you worked through all the troubleshooting suggestions here as well?
