SSD not detected in MSI bios?

So i have a corsair force lx SSD and it seems to be not detected on the bios. This SSD does have an OS in it and my pc does boot. but sometimes when i turn on my pc it gives the "9C" error i believe. after i did some research hat code means that it is searching for a bootable USB or something similar. So itry to move the SSD to first boot priority but the SSD is not even an option. It is detected, the mobo sees it in board explorer and all but it is not seen on the "boot priority"
I do have an HDD, Optical Drive and the SSD plugged in. But the SSD is in sata port 6. does plugging it farther down the sata port effect its "detectedness"? Should i move it down to sata port 1 or sata port 2?
Sorry if my grammar/sentence structure and all seems messed up. I am in a bit of hurry while typing this thread.
PC Specs:
CPU: fx8350 stock speed
GPU: XFX r9 280x stock speed
MOBO: MSI 970 Gaming
HDD: 1TB Seagate
SSD: Corsair 128GB LX

Which SATA port is the SSD plugged into? Make sure it is into #1 on the motherboard so it's detected as #1. Otherwise some play within BIoS is required to get it up.
The SSD is plugged into sata port 6.
My HDD is plugged into sata port 1
Optical drive is plugged into sata port 2
I will swap my SSD and HDD port and see if it will show up on the boot priority

  • HP 8530w - SSD not detected

    Hello,
Recently I managed to get an SSD from work, namely the A-Data S596 (500 SERIES).
When putting it into my HP Elitebook 8530w, the disk was not detected.
I have already upgraded the BIOS to the newest version.
The SSD's firmware has also recently been upgraded to the newest.
After some googling, I read the device mode could matter.
The disk was not detected using AHCI, IDE or RAID.
Any other ideas to make it work?
    Thank you in advance.

Same problem here with a Samsung SSD (MMCRE28G8MXP, Lenovo OEM). The disk works fine in three other devices but is not detected by the 8530w BIOS. The BIOS and SSD firmware are current and the SATA Device Mode setting has no effect. I was wondering whether there might be a tool to set the mode of the SSD but couldn't find anything.
    Any ideas??

  • SSD Not Detected

    Windows 7 32 bit
HP Pavilion dv6700 laptop from 2008
Sorry for the obscure title, but it's a little hard to explain in a few words.
Okay, so I installed Windows 7 on my new PT64GS25SSDR ~ Patriot Torqx TRB. It worked fine. I booted into Windows and everything. Then I go to restart, uh oh, operating system not found! Okay, load up the Windows disc, oh, it can't find Windows 7 on my computer! Eventually, with enough CTRL ALT DELing at the Operating System Not Found prompt, it boots into Windows just fine.
So basically here's the issue: the drive isn't regconized when turning on the computer from a cold start, or restarting (and I can't use Sleep anymore either as it tries to load the hard drive, can't, then just BSOD's).
The only way around this, is taking the drive out and putting it back in. Any time I do this, it boots just fine.
Though like I said, sometimes... I can get it to boot after CTRL ALT DELing many many times at the Operating System Not Found prompt. Thankfully I don't restart or shutdown often, so this is a minor inconvenience, but still... I'd rather it didn't happen at all. I'm using the adapter that came with my computer which was attached to my traditional hard drive ( https://www.excelcomputerinc.com/laptopkingstore/product.asp?intProdID=819&intcatalogID=[adapter]&in... ). Any help to resolve this issue is most appreciated!

I have the same problem with Intel Solid State 80GB SATA drive. I installed Linux from the CD-ROM without any problems but the laptop does not want to boot from the drive.
It seems like HP did not test these laptops with solid state drives yet and there is an incompatibility
Try to go to BIOS setup during booting to check if the drive is displayed, if it is then you may be able to change the settings somehow. The instructions for my SSD installaiton specifiy to change to auto detect, but my BIOS does not provide any such options, this is catch 22

  • OCZ Summit 60gb ssd not detected

    Hi all,
I just upgraded my 13.3 2.53 mpb's default 250gb hdd to the ocz summit 60gb ssd. I was able to install snow leopard using the leopard disk and snow leopard upgrade disk. I subsequently installed win xp pro sp3 on boot camp. The ssd is evenly partitioned between osx and windows. After installing win xp, I did not tinker with startup disk settings. I was working on a document in windows and when I returned a hour later, the mbp is showing 'a flashing question mark folder'. I followed the steps described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440 Using disk utility from my osx install cd, I could see that the ssd is not detected, only the dvd drive is detected. I reopened the mbp and confirmed that the sata connection is secure. On a side note, I put the old 250gb hdd into an external enclosure (which has a time machine backup), it was detected by osx install cd.
Next I'll swap the ssd into the external enclosure and see if its detectable.
    Thanks in advance.

So exactly what is your question?
Assuming you are asking what happened to your SSD, you may have to roll back your EFI 1.7 firmware to EFI 1.6 for the SSD to work internally in the computer. I had to in my MBP.

  • SSD not recognized by the bios of my GT780DX-263US

    Hi,
    I have a GT780DX-263US since 3 months.
I  tried to add a 2nd hard drive but it isn't recognized in the bios. The hard drive is seated properly.
The original hard drive installed is the Western Digital and the bios is original also. (Bios ver.1761, i think).
The second hard drive i tried to installed is the Memoright FTM Plus 240gb Sata III SSD.
I changed the bios setting from AHCI to IDE and nothing changed.
Do i need to update with the other bios (supporting the RAID) if i want to install another drive? Even if not necessarily in RAID?
Is there anything special that needs to be done when installing a 2nd drive on this system?
    Please somebody can help me?
    Thanks
    Max

No to all. If SSD is connected properly to SATA and power try resetting EC: How to reset the EC (Embedded Controller)

  • ExpressCard SSD not detected by Windows 7

I've got Windows 7 RC 64-bit installed on a 2.53 GHz MacBook Pro (dual boot using Boot Camp) with an ExpressCard slot. I also got a FileMate SolidGO 3FMS4D48M-WR 48GB ExpressCard SSD; the drive works beautifully under OS X, but is not recognized at all by Windows 7 when it's in the ExpressCard slot. In Device Manager, the yellow caution icon appears in front of the Standard ACHI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. The drive does not show under Disk drives or in Disk Manager. The corresponding Device Status message is: "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12). If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."
The drive is recognized as SATA under Mac OS X and also works fine in Windows when plugged into a USB port instead of the ExpressCard slot (at which point it is not treated as SATA, but USB). I've tried the latest Boot Camp drivers, but that has no effect. Any suggestions?
    Edit/Delete Message

    Hi
If the device is not visible in device manager, not even as an unknown device, then this means that the device does not exist or has not been detected by BIOS.
Usually the infrared receiver should be visible in device manager under:
Human interface devices - > SMSCIR infrared receiver
In System devices you should see the Consumer IR Device.
Be sure that you enabled the option sow hidden devices in device manager maybe then you could see this
    Please also check the BIOS
Im not quite sure if the infrared device option would be listed in BIOS but you should check it

  • External SSD not detected!

    Hi,
I'm running Mac OS X Lion (latest version) on a MacBook Pro mid-2010 model. OS X Lion was installed via recovery tools a few days ago.
Today I plugged in a brand new Crucial M4 SSD via USB and it got detected. I restarted the laptop in recovery mode using cmd + R and chose to install Lion on the external SSD. For this I first had to partition the SSD before it showed up as a valid drive where Lion could be installed.
The installation went almost to the end, but then stopped rather strangely for a very long time. So I decided to cancel the installation and restarted the laptop normally. Since then the Crucial M4 SSD is not being detected at all (doesn't even show up in Disk Utility).
Can anyone help me here? What can I do to make it show up?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thanks. But I don't have access to another computer or another enclosure. The enclosure I have has an in-built USB cable.
The SSD DID get recognised and I almost installed Lion on it completely, but then what I said above happened.
    Is there any other alternative?
    Cheers.

  • SSD not recognized by the bios of my GT70 2OD-056AU

    Hello there,
    I have a GT70 2OD-056AU since 3 months ago.
I  tried to add a SSD in the second bay but it isn't recognized in the bios. The SSD is seated properly, it is a SAMSUNG SSD 840 EVO 2.5"
I changed the bios setting from AHCI to IDE and nothing changed.
I tried to replace de HDD with the SSD (add the SSD on the fist bay), and then it worked, but couldn't make both SSD and HDD work at the same time.

  • SSD not detected for mac os x re-installation

I recently bought a Macbook Pro 15" retina display with 512 SSD. It came with Mac OS X Lion 10.7 so I upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.3 which was fine for one or two days when it stop working, showing a white screen with a grey folder and a question mark in the center. Then I had to follow the procedures to reboot or reinstall the MacOS. Using Internet recovery. Although I got the software, after accepting the Mac OS X Lion installation, the next screen is not showing the SSD to install it. I checked with Disk Utilities and see no disk to install either. Does this means that the SSD is failling? How can I continue with the installation?

Given the cost of the computer and the fact that it is probably not yet a year old, take it to an Apple Store or an authorized Apple Service Provider and let them deal with it under warranty!
Hint: IIRC, it needed a special version of Lion to work with the Retina's hardware.
Edit. Hint #2: given this unsavory experience, consider the convenience of having the computer protected from these kinds of failures for an additional 2 years by purchasing AppleCare. In a user-unserviceable platform such as this, I feel this is indispensable if you plan on keeping the thing for more than a year.

  • MSI H55M-E33 SATA Not Detected

I've been putting together a new computer with this H55 board fresh out of the box. No matter what I do though all my SATA ports still show up as Not Detected in my BIOS for my hard drive or disk drive. I've tried all kind of combinations with every port. I've even taken out the CMOS battery for a while.
    Specs are:
    MSI H55M-E33 motherboard
    Intel Core i5-680 Clarkdale 3.6GHz 4MB L3 Cache
Western Digital 1.0 TB HDD Model WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0
    Pioneer DVR-218LBK
    Corsair 850HX Power Supply

Okay, so I cleared CMOS several times, and even tried a brand new hard drive and DVD drive with at least seven different sata cables and every sata slot I had. Still nothing showing up at all in CMOS.
    Also, here's my Bios: A7587IMS V1.1 012210
I'm very new at putting computers together, but from my understanding Sata should pretty much be plug-and-play. Or at the very least plug-and-see.

  • X220: external USB keyboard not detected in BIOS

    Hi!
I use an external USB keyboard attached to the port replicator of my X220. When Windows is booted the keyboard works without any problems. But I cannot use the keyboard pre-boot, e.g. to enter the HDD password after starting up, to configure the BIOS, etc.
I tried all USB ports both of the port replicator and the X220. The keyboard is still not detected by the BIOS (Version 1.20) and there are no BIOS options to enable "USB keyboard support".
Has anyone experienced similar problems? Are there any solutions to get the keyboard detected by the BIOS?
    Thank you for your support!

  • Radeon 9800 not detected

    Hi everyone,
I have just bought a Ati Radeon 9800 Pro to replace my current graphics adapter (GeForce Fx 5200). Unfortunately, at boot-time, the Radeon is not detected by the Bios and boot proceeds using the on-board S3 Savage Pro 8.
I have set the Agp overture to either 64 Mb or 128 Mb, the speed to 4x (as per the specificications of the Radeon), to no avail. I am quite puzzled not to mention a bit disappointed. Any idea ?
    Thanks,
     jjspam

I'm afraid I have tried this already. Although I instruct the Bios to try AGP first, it seems to be unable to find the adapter. I assume it then uses the S3 as a fall-back. I did not have this problem with my GeForce card -- actually, I am currently writing this message using my GeForce card with the exact same settings I attempted to use on my Radeon.
By the way, I should add that the, when the S3 boots, the Radeon is not detected by either OS, even as passive.
And yes, I did plug the additional alimentation to the Radeon, and I could see its ventilator rotating.

  • MSI GT70 Secondary Drive/750gb not detected while SSD in Raid !!

Long story short , my system crashed randomly for the first time ever (I left the room came back and the system had crashed) , then I got the raid boot failure message for the first time ever !
It was a perfectly clean system practically unused system.
I got the laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium.. this just before the Win 8 systems came out..
I deleted Raid Volume and then created a Raid Volume..
Installed Windows 8 , all this while Bios set to Raid !
I noticed my 750Gb drive was no longer visible in Windows.. i installed all the drivers i could think of but still my secondary HDD wasn't being detected in device manager..
Intel Rapid Storage Technology detected 699GB in Storage System View , while device manager didnt..
When i set Bios to either ACHI or IDE , Bios then reads the 750GB drive in boot priority list but then Windows fails to boot from my SSD's set to Raid !
When I set bios to RAID it only reads SSD , not the 750GB drive..
So basically when I set my Bios to raid my secondary 750gb drive disappears from the boot priority list + from Windows !
When I set to achi/IDE my raid disappears.
I want to keep my raid and have my 750gb drive !
    How i dont know...
If i disable raid , only a single SSD drive is detected that leaves me with half the space.. so i cant even make do without Raid because ill lose half that space..
Another thing worth noting is that my Bios boot screen/time has increased noticeably compared to how things were originally. feeling sluggish !
Sorry for putting things in such a messy way..
Thanks for your input and help in advace !!!

thanks for updating me on that..
But to my luck , i had nearly been using the system for 2 days now..
Installed everything , played a few movies etc..
    Then my system froze..
I had to force shut it down..
Now im getting the Raid boot failure status all over again..
So i went and reconnected the SSD's but the problems still the same..
I cant go delete my entire raid because what if this happens again..
I'm stuck in this non sense of a loop.. most disappointed , i spent so much money on this machine and i haven't once enjoyed it like i was supposed to..
Is it the raid card , is it the ssd , is it the raid software or is it something else.. :(
Why is my system doing this.. beyond disappointed all my efforts have gone to waste..
