SSD not found

Got a new retail Intel SSD 330 120 GB for my laptop Probook 6560b, cloned the old one and installed in the laptop. The computer recognized its a new drive and installs some hardware.
Everything works good for about 4 hours. Then bluescreen, and the harddrive is not found, not even in BIOS. Back with the old harddrive and everything works. Replace again with the SSD, still not found. Back to the old again, booting and connecting the new SSD using a USB to SATA connector - and the SSD is found there. Just for checking back to the SSD in the laptop but still not found in BIOS.
Is there anything I can do to get the SSD to work as the main drive?

Hi:
That drive has issues.
See this long thread below.

You can read my second post on page 3 for how I got mine to work.
It has worked fine ever since.

  • HDD or SSD not found on Envy dv7

Hello everyone, I recently had a 'broken' notebook HP Envy DV7-7350eb, which I recently installed a Win 7 pro x64 OS on.After installing some windows updates and all, windows wasn"t able to find a boot device anymore. It doesnt display the DVD drive to boot from when I press the F9 button, but seems to boot from it though..But the HDD won't display on the boot device selection. I've tried to adjust everything in the BIOS (legacy support on/off, secure boot on/off, boot from USB drive instead of win7 installation disc) I've looked up the HP support site for getting the latest BIOS update but can't seem to find a new BIOS update.. Anyone have more suggestions? or where I can download a BIOS update maybe?   Thanks in advance to hopefully help me out here!

  • Windows 7 install stops at "CD/DVD driver not found"

When trying to install Windows 7 with boot camp, all goes well until it stops and gives me the "CD/DVD driver not found". I have a mid 2010 Mac Pro with a 500 GB SSD drive. I have burned a DVD at 1X from a iso file.
    Thanks

Can you verify the MD5/SHA1 of the DVD with the ISO using OS X 'openssl md5' or the M$ FCIV tool? The source of your ISO should be able to provide MD5/SHA1.
    OS X Example
    openssl md5 ~/Desktop/GRMCPRXVOL_EN_DVD.cdr
    MD5(/Users/MyName/Desktop/GRMCPRXVOL_EN_DVD.cdr)= 977f4f0f1400be91855789213e07b031
    Windows FCIV example
    D:\>C:\"Program Files (x86)"\FCIV\fciv
// File Checksum Integrity Verifier version 2.05.
    Usage:  fciv.exe [Commands] <Options>
    Commands: ( Default -add )
-add    <file | dir> : Compute hash and send to output (default screen).
                    dir options:
                    -r       : recursive.
                    -type    : ex: -type *.exe.
-exc file: list of directories that should not be computed.
-wp      : Without full path name. ( Default store full path)
-bp      : specify base path to remove from full path name
-list            : List entries in the database.
            -v               : Verify hashes.
                             : Option: -bp basepath.

    Options:
            -md5 | -sha1 | -both    : Specify hashtype, default md5.

  • Can anyone answer why in logic pro X I keep getting a window popping up that says Directory not found, result code= -120, followed by another window saying, Fade update failed, (error -120)?

Can anyone answer, why in Logic Pro X I keep on getting a window popping up saying, Directory not found, result code = -120. Followed by another window saying, Fade update failed, (error -120)?
I am running the latest version 10.0.5 through a Macbook Pro that has just been upgraded to 16GB Ram and a 960GB SSD which has made it as fast as ****. I upgraded because I was experiencing problems before and it was suggested that I didn't have enough Ram?
I am using a Focusrite scarlett 2i4 and an Alesis Q61 midi controller. Weirdly, just trying to put a bass line down on a track using the Alesis, the bass sound goes out of tune with the track during recording only. This is very frustrating! I surely can't be the only one experiencing this?
    Many thanks
    Rob.

    Hi
Time lost could be a problem, but.....
Sadly, I don't think that there are any Apple docs relating to networked storgae issues with Logic. Other than a 'school' or 'business' setup, NAS/OD/AD setups are not usual circumstances for audio.
If the issue is one of data backup & security, it may be enough to automatically backup the students local work folders to the NAS.
If the issue is one of the Users being able to work from any Mac and pick up their files from the server, you are not likely to resolve this problem, without copying the files to the Local Mac.

  • SSD Not Detected

    Windows 7 32 bit
HP Pavilion dv6700 laptop from 2008
Sorry for the obscure title, but it's a little hard to explain in a few words.
Okay, so I installed Windows 7 on my new PT64GS25SSDR ~ Patriot Torqx TRB. It worked fine. I booted into Windows and everything. Then I go to restart, uh oh, operating system not found! Okay, load up the Windows disc, oh, it can't find Windows 7 on my computer! Eventually, with enough CTRL ALT DELing at the Operating System Not Found prompt, it boots into Windows just fine.
So basically here's the issue: the drive isn't regconized when turning on the computer from a cold start, or restarting (and I can't use Sleep anymore either as it tries to load the hard drive, can't, then just BSOD's).
The only way around this, is taking the drive out and putting it back in. Any time I do this, it boots just fine.
Though like I said, sometimes... I can get it to boot after CTRL ALT DELing many many times at the Operating System Not Found prompt. Thankfully I don't restart or shutdown often, so this is a minor inconvenience, but still... I'd rather it didn't happen at all. I'm using the adapter that came with my computer which was attached to my traditional hard drive ( https://www.excelcomputerinc.com/laptopkingstore/product.asp?intProdID=819&intcatalogID=[adapter]&in... ). Any help to resolve this issue is most appreciated!

I have the same problem with Intel Solid State 80GB SATA drive. I installed Linux from the CD-ROM without any problems but the laptop does not want to boot from the drive.
It seems like HP did not test these laptops with solid state drives yet and there is an incompatibility
Try to go to BIOS setup during booting to check if the drive is displayed, if it is then you may be able to change the settings somehow. The instructions for my SSD installaiton specifiy to change to auto detect, but my BIOS does not provide any such options, this is catch 22

  • FCP 'Not Found/General Error' probs...

I know I'm being really impatient with this (posted it on other discussions) but I have a deadline to meet next Monday, was really hoping someone could give me some advice as to what to do with the following problem, especially if it's something that takes time, means I can leave it overnight...
Okay, so...in the middle of editing this project, when I press space to play at a certain point it reads 'Not Found', then I press space again and it reads 'General Error'.
I've tried the advice on this page...http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1066686
    Still no luck?
Disk Warrior should arrive tomorrow! Don't know what to do now?
Have attached Activity Monitor screen grabs...
    www.alex.mastersofcreation.com/alexw/ActivityMonitorPics.zip
can anyone see the problem here?

Clone your system and boot off the new drive, that would be where I would start from.
SuperDuper does that very well, and helps put your system in order, doesn't copy temp files, logs, and caches, all of which are junk and best created fresh.
I would never let system drive get above 60% used; or 20% free on the other drives either. Clean those up, get some more drives, maybe larger; consider striped arrays; move backup to external, too.
My guess is even with 20% free space, the free space is fragmented. Something that SuperDuper clone would consolidated.
Unless your boot drive is 10K 300GB Raptor (VelociRaptor), I'd look into WD Black 640GB and above... cheap but fast. Personally I go for lean mean and fast drives, especially for system, where only the OS and applications are stored and nothing much else (maybe a tiny minimal user account, sans media libraries which should all be on separate drive). A pair of 10K SSD or 10K V-Raptors as boot volume would be nice.
Your system could be choking on limited disk space. Plus, I'd keep your drives as current and new as possible (but not bleeding edge). Four WD Black Caviar 1TB drives might go a long way.... they are good fast 100MB/sec units.
I prefer the 10K VelociRaptor as they are rock solid, cold running, fast, and built more to SCSI type spec than SATA. (a new 600GB model of the 10K VR is due out in couple months for same price as 300GB).
And at least two if not three sets of backups, and one set always off line.
That should help build a more solid foundation.
you don't have a G5, could you include more of your hardware and system information (OS X as well, and maybe not be running 10.6.2).

  • Error 15: file not found [solved]

I've found a number of posts on this forum that sound like they are dealing with similar problems, but none of them are quite right.
Just built a new computer, and I have been trying to install arch all day.
The install went without a problem, but then when I booted her up, grub gives me error 15.  I've reinstalled several times using both the UUID and disk by LABEL options, and I get the same error.  At first I had separate /boot and / partitions, but in order to simplify things, I reinstalled with /boot on the root partition.
here are the relevant lines in menu.lst:
    root (hd1,0)
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk/by-label/rooty ro vga=773
    initrd /boot/kernel26.img
Maybe I should mention that this is an SSD.
Is there a way to determine WHICH file is not found?  That might make solving this problem a little easier.

    litemotiv wrote:
Is disk 1 the actual location of your SSD? Error 15 means that the kernel can not be found, this means that you're pointing grub to the wrong disk or partition.
    Also see: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Grub
Try with the sdX scheme instead of uuid or label.
Disk 1?  I'm a little confused.  The kernel should be on sdb1 if that's what you mean.
I have scanned it before, but I think that it would be a good idea to enable debugging as per the wiki.  It might help shed some light on this problem.
I haven't gone through the installer with the sdX scheme, but once everything was installed, I've used the grub console to change it to that scheme.  It didn't seem to work, but maybe I'll try it again tomorrow before I give up on my ssd.
I'm beginning to think that recent versions of grub choke on my dual hard drive setup.

  • [SOLVED] Upgrade hard drive: Grub error 22: Partition not found

I'm trying to move to a different hard drive.  I booted a live cd, created the partitions, formatted, and used "cp -a" to copy all the files over.  I also updated the fstab on the new drive, and now I would expect everything to work.  However, I can't get past grub.
When I boot up, I get "grub error 22: partition not found".
Here is my setup ("Arch Linux - SSD" is the entry not working):

I solved this by using the uuid instead of the root:
    # (0) Arch Linux
    title Arch Linux - SSD
    uuid 128a4425-c9ae-433f-b604-5488d55a14b3
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sdb3 ro vga=775
    initrd /boot/kernel26.img
Also, I got "grub-install" to run much faster by removing the fd0 from the device map.

  • Help needed: Lion Server hangs during reboot (Symbol not found: _kCUIMaskOnlyKey)

    Hi,
I not sure if this is the right forum but hopefully someone might be able to help.
Yesterday I was configuring my local mail system. (Local IMAP server and I checked the access from WLAN and Internet. Everything seems to
work fine until I noticed, that mails from my inbox would disappear automatically after a couple of seconds. I switched all mail clients (iPhone, ...) of,
sent a test mail - but the problem stays. I had no idea what was going on. So I decided to reboot the system. The system came up again and I logged in.
It looked like a fresh desktop was created and Safari wanted to make changes to the system. I decided to roll back the system and reinstalled it from
a backup before I made all the changes. After restoring the system hangs with the gray screen. I tried a reboot in save mode - same result. Then
I rebooted in single user mode. The file system looked OK, but I found many crashes in the system logs. Continuing to multi user mode did not succeed.
I received all the crash logs on the console.
Next I removed the disk and connected it to my laptop. I have extracted the last couple of line from the system log file:

Had the exact same problem yesterday on my mid-2010 Mac Pro with OS X 10.7.3 Server. Formatted my SSD boot drive and restored via time machine and I had the exact same error.
Here is how to solve it. Download from the apple site the OSX10.7.3ServerComboUpdate.dmg. I downloaded using my laptop. Extract the dmg and get the pkg file inside. Put it on a usb drive. Boot your broken OS X system in recovery mode(option key as you boot up, choose Recovery HD). Open the Terminal(don't use the single user mode, the following command did not work from there). If your OS X installation is Macintosh HD type the following(assuimg your USB disk is called USB,otherwise change it):
    # cd /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD\
    # mkdir update
    # cd update
    # cp /Volumes/USBDrive/*.pkg .
    # installer --verbose -pkg MacOSX10.7.3ServerComboUpdate.pkg -target "/Volumes/Macintosh\ HD"/
When it finishes reboot and your OS X will boot normally.
    Hope that helped.

    Mrsflores, welcome to the forum.
When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.  It may be that you have a failed hard drive.  I will help you more when I have the model.

I doubt seriously that dilburt was questioning your pc building prowess. Many suggestions are given generic as the build skills & knowledge of many posters is not known. Your other comments are non productive. Presume the I/O plate is not causing a problem, & has the port itself been closely examined for any damage?
No I wasn't questioning or accusing him of questioning my ability... merely that I know what I'm doing. Much of the advice has been responses suggesting things I already mentioned in my first post.
I will try the rear I/O panel and reset that as well.
