SSH from linux to Windows

Get an RDP client for your Linux workstation. It's built in to Windows. Every other remote access method will require having something installed on the remote machine.
For doing the day-to-day Windowsy stuff, you will be better off having a Windows server on the network that you can remote into to run Powershell, WMI, RSAT tools, etc.

This may be a simple question but.. im trying to switch my workstation at work to a linux workstation. I was wondering if there is a way I can use ssh to connect to the windows pc's at work and run quick things like get the service tag or stop a process or something like that from my desk. I use team viewer if I need to connect and visually do anything but I would love to use SSH to run some quick command in the background and find out if someones on a specific website or check frozen tasks.
I use putty from my windows machine to connect to the macs in the office but how I would reverse that with a linux machine connecting to a windows machine?

Error in Transport Tablespace from linux to windows

I am testing the cross-Platform Transport Tablespace. As per the oracle, we can transport tablespace from linux to windows without conversion because both are using same endian (Little).
But i am fail to do Transport Tablespace from Linux to Windows.
I am performing Transport Tablespace process as following:
from Source Oracle Database server(red had linux as 4 32-bit oracle version:10.2)

after this i am coping test.dmp and data file (test.dbf) to the target machine (ms windows xp 32-bit with oracle 10.1) .
on Target Machine (with Ms windows xp os) here i am giving the following command:
impdp system dumpfile=test.dmp directory=exp_dir transport_datafiles=/exp_dir/test.dbf
but it is giving following error:
ora-39001: invalid argument value
ora-39000: bad dump file specification
ora-31619: invalid dump file "c:\pks\1103.dmp"

File Transfer from LINUX to WINDOWS....?

I have to copy the auto backup .dmp file from Linux to Windows in Same Network. Can You please suggest me how to do this task through Shell Script.

Printing from Linux to Windows shared printer

I am trying to print from Linux to a shared printer on a Windows XP PC. I installed cups and foomatic, started cupsd and configured the printer (HP Deskjet 720C) in KDE control centre. When I try to print a test page I get the following message:

Rather than use SMB to connect from Lion to the Windows XP printer share, a better method is to enable Print Services for UNIX on Windows XP and then use LPD on the Mac to print via the Windows share.
To install Print Services for UNIX on Windows XP:
Log on to the Windows server with an administrative-level account.
Start the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.
Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
Click Other Network File and Print Services, and then click Details.
Click to select the Print Services for UNIX check box, and then click OK.
Follow the instructions on the screen to finish the installation
If you haven't done so already, share the printer on Windows XP and make the name one word - no spaces or special characters
With the print services enabled you can then create the printer queue on Lion.
Open Print & Scan and click + to add a printer
Select the IP icon and set the protocol to Line Printer Daemon - LPD
For the Address, enter the IP address of the Windows XP computer
For the Queue name, enter the share name set for the printer in Windows XP
Name and Location are free text so you can set this to something meaningful
For the Print Using menu, select the supporting printer driver. Note that like connections via SMB, the vendors driver for Lion in some cases cannot be used and an alternate like those offered by the Gutenprint suite must be used.
Click the OK button to complete the queue creation.
Now you are ready to test the new print queue.

Font differs from Linux and Windows ?

Hi, i just want to ask, are fonts different from windows and linux in applet. I use a standard courier font.
For example, if i make an applet with courier font texts in linux, and make the texts wrap themselves, they will run ok in linux. But if i run the compiled applet in windows, the wrapped text somewhow got truncated.
But if i compile the applet in windows, it will look ok in linux and windows.
I've tried replacing my courier fonts in my /usr/java/jdk/jre/lib/fonts/cour*.ttf with the cour*.ttf from c:\windows\fonts with no effects .. Applets compiled and run ok in linux doesnt work in windows. They must be compiled in windows to run ok in both.
Why is that ?
Does the compilation use the fonts in the jdk lib or the system fonts ?

There's no way with Office X, which can't do Unicode Greek. You need to upgrade to Office 2004 which is Unicode-savvy and installs in your Mac the same Times New Roman with Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, and Arabic which is used by WinXP. An alternative might be AbiWord or NeoOffice/J.

Replicate from linux to windows(more than 1 db on both server).

I am having 2 machines :-
1) Linux - Oracle 11g - GoldenGate 11g - with 2 DB's on it - We are going to use only one i.e. DB name - "SOURCE".
2) Windows xp - Oracle 11g - GoldenGate 11g - with 2 DB's on it - We are going to use only one i.e. DB name - "REPLICA"
My major concern is that if both the machines are having more than one DB, then how will it understand that from which db's schema he has to extract & replicate the data ? Also the OS for both the machine is different, will it be any issue ?
I want to extract data from EMP table of SCOTT user from SOURCE db & replicate it to EMP table of SCOTT user of REPLICA db.

[SOLVED]Internet share from linux to windows 7

hi,
i want to share my internt connection from my arch linux netbook to my win7 pc
I succesfully followed this wiki article( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Internet_Share ) until: 'Assigning ip addresses to the client pc(s)'.
now i'm stuck with my linux netbook being fully configured, but i can't get my win7 pc to connect properly.
Idk maybe i need to configure the netbook in a different way in order to make it work with a windows client???
maybe
ip addr add 192.168.1.0 dev enp8s0
instead of
ip addr add 191.168.1.0/24 dev epn8s0
or an additional iptables command? (FORWARD ACCEPT maybe?)
Here's some data about my netbook in order to make it easier for you:
internet device: wlp2s0
internet device ip range: 192.168.2.x
lan(which conects my netbook to the win7 pc) device: enp8s0

Once you have setup things , verify if you can ping 192.168.2.1 (router) from the windows pc.

the wiki says 'The first 3 bytes of this address cannot be exactly the same as those of another interface.'
I actually don't want to stick with 2 networks, since i don't want to waste 1gb of my hdd for the router software.

Rtp video streaming issue from linux to windows

i am currently running a windows machine and linux machine on the same network connected by a linksy wrt45g router. i am trying to use avtransmit2.java and avreceive2.java to stream a video from one computer to the other and i can't get it to go from either win to linux or linux to win.
i am able to send information from one computer to the other through an objectoutputstream, but i have been unsuccessful in getting video to go through rtp from one computer to the other.
anyone have any ideas? it is starting to get really frustrating. i have been able to do something similar using vlc, but the avreceive and avtransmit won't work. i am using a new configuration, and have been successfull with the same code previous times

Synchronize my media from Linux and Windows shared locations with iTunes to iDevices?

Hello.
Is it possible for an updated 32-bit Windows XP Pro. SP3's iTunes to synchronize/import my MP3, OGGs, WMA, videos, etc. from network shares (Samba with Windows and Linux)? Or do I have to copy all the files (huge!!) to the local HDD for iTunes? I just got a iPod Nano (6th generation and 8 GB). I keep all my media in one location for all computers and devices to share.

Thanks all. It looked like I was able to get iTunes to show my almost 11 GB of songs (5.5 days to listen to all). Some of the WMA were converted. Obviously, a few OGG files weren't. It took a long time to finish (ran it overnight). I was able to synchronize most of them to my iPod Nano even though it only can hold about 7.25 GB of it.
Is it me or is adding new songs tricky? I even told the new iTunes installations to scan for media, but they didn't do anything. I did this with two different updated Windows XP Pro. SP3 machines. I had to drag and drops my music into iTunes' playlist (new one). Weird.

You could use import option show=y to capture import run statements and find CREATE TABLESPACE statements. Keep in mind your target database already has undo, temp system, etc. tablespaces so you do not need to precreate them. Then rerun import.

i had a project developed in linux which has lot of jar files, i used to run it through make file but now i want to port the project on windows, can any one help me in making a batch file, because i have to include a lot of jar file ....
i am totaly confused who could i do that.
i followed the tutorials of batch file but i didnt work.
can any one send me a piece of batch file code showing how to include a folder of jar files and how to run a class files using jar files.....

perhaps you should look into MANIFEST files. you should be able to set up all your libs in there.
