Ssh from prime infrastructure

      Hi
i am having problems getting snmp to to connect to cisco devices.
Now i know you can ssh from the lifecycle view using the 360 viewr whatever its called
But i want to try and ssh to unknown devices and see why i am getting unreachable
when my lms and cacti can reach these devices just fine
If I could try this then i could establish if it is prime or something funny on the network
Many thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,
I don't think we have the feature to SSH to a device from 360 Degree view.
Can you share the same screen shot ?
Thanks-
Afroz

  • Migrate Guest Users from Prime Infrastructure 2.1 to ISE

I have just installed a new Prime Infrastructure Server and have discovered our list of guest user accounts from the discovered Controllers. We are implementing ISE 1.3 and would like to move all the guest user accounts from Prime to ISE without doing it manually. Is there a way to either export or pull the guest users from Prime or the WLC and import them to ISE?
I would be very interested to find out if this can be done.
    Cheers,

  • Unable to update from Prime Infrastructure 1.2 (1.2.0.103)

    Hello,
I would like to update my Prime Infrastructure installation to the latest 2.0. According to this document I'm trying to install the update
pi_1.2.1.12_update.tar.gz but I always get this error:
    PRIME-0000-01/admin# copy ftp://172.16.14.102/pi_1.2.1.12_update.tar.gz disk:/defaultRepo
    Username: ftpuser

    Generating configuration...
Saved the ADE-OS running configuration to startup successfully

Error: unknown encoding at line 1
    % Manifest file is invalid
The file's MD5 is correct on the ftp server, and I've copied it many times into defaultRepo, always getting the same error.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Matteo

Ok, I've found the solution. The ftp copy was changing the file each time, so the file was always corrupted once in the defaultRepo.
    On the ftp server:
    # ls -l
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root     root     11734212 Sep 25 16:19 pi_1.2.1.12_update.tar.gz
On the Prime server, when copied using ftp:
    PRIME-0000-01/admin# dir disk:/defaultRepo
       11733763 Sep 25 2013 16:21:10  pi_1.2.1.12_update.tar.gz
So, I've copied the file using http, and this solved:
    PRIME-0000-01/admin# copy http://172.16.14.144/pi_1.2.1.12_update.tar.gz disk:/defaultRepo
    PRIME-0000-01/admin# dir disk:/defaultRepo

  • Cisco prime Infrastructure alarms by e-mail

    hi all,
my Cisco PI1.2 not send me a notification e-mail with specific alarm if occurred twice and the first time is not cleared or deleted.
    i.e.
if a switch is down it send me a notification e-mail, and this switch comes up again but i did not remove the first alarm, the PI not send me a notification.
    please advice
    thanks in advance

    Alarm Status
    Description
    New
When an event triggers a new alarm or an event is associated with an existing alarm.
    Acknowledged
When you acknowledge an alarm, the status changes from New to Acknowledged.
    Cleared
An alarm can be in these statuses:
Auto-clear from the device—The fault is resolved on the device and an event is triggered for the same. For example, a device-reachable event clears the device-unreachable event. This in-turn, clears the device-unreachable alarm.
Manual-clear from Prime Infrastructure users: You can manually clear an active alarm without resolving the fault in the network. A clearing event is triggered and this event clears the alarm.
If the fault continues to exist in the network, a new event and alarm are created subsequently based on the event notification (traps/syslogs).
This might be the reason, I believe.
Please refer the following link for better understanding.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/net_mgmt/prime/infrastructure/1-2/user/guide/prime_infra_ug/alarms.html
    Hope that helps.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.2 Released

For those who haven't noticed, Prime Infrastructure (PI) 2.2 was released on 17 December. The Release Notes, Quick Start guide, etc. are all posted on the PI product support page.
I downloaded the 3.2 GB ova and deployed / installed via vCenter into a VMware ESXi 5.5 environment without issue.
The migration path is to backup your supported earlier version to a repository and then restore from that repository onto the new host. I grabbed a fresh backup of our PI 2.1.2 and followed the guide to restore. It took a while (about 1-1/2 hours to restore and then 30 minutes more to start completely - see output below) but the process ran without a hitch. You do need to make sure that the new host meets or exceeds the hardware specs of the old one - i.e. amount of memory, disk and vCPUs.
My initial look at the new system seems to indicate all is well - I see all the expected maps and devices and old configuration archives were pulled over. I have quite a bit of exercising the new feature set to do but initial indications are promising.
It's good to finally see the Topology map.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 updating 5508 controllers in HA mode

I'm having the same issue from PI 2.1 trying to import 7.6.130 for my 5508 controllers and it saying "Image not Applicable for this Device" even though I know that image is applicable.
Also, has anyone ever updated 5508 controllers in HA mode from Prime Infrastructure?

Your combination of PI (are you sure it's 2.1? not 1.2?), WLC and MSE is not supported.
You may want to have a look at this matrix:

PS: Today PI 1.3 and MSE 7.4 have been released - these support WLC code 7.4

  • Prime Infrastructure 1.3 + WLC 2504 - Enable LAG?

    Hi everybody,
I'm facing a little issue using Prime Infrastructure 1.3 configuration templates to manage a couple of 2504 WLCs.
I'm using a Configuration -> General template to enable LAG on a couple of controller and when I try to apply it I get the error: "LAG mode cannot be enabled for 2500 series of controllers."
Obviously I can enable LAG locally on controllers, but then each time I try to apply the configuration template from Prime Infrastructure LAG gets disabled again.
Is this a known issues? Does anybody known how it can be worked around?
    Thanks,
    L

There is a defect in PI 1.4 that you can't enable LAG for the 2504.  It's possible that 1.3 also affected

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 and Nexus 5548, SSH credentials fail

    Hi,
I'm having problem getting the Prime Infrastructure 2.0 to login with SSH to a Nexus 5548 to do an inventory. I get "Wrong Telnet/SSH credentials". But when I use the same credentials from another SSH-client it works fine. I also tested to SSH from the console of the Prime-server and that also works fine.
    Any ideas???

I have PI 2.0 working against Nexus 5k's in two different installations. See below for an example (click to enlarge).
Have you put in an entry in both the login and enable fields (even though they are not separately required when logging in directly)?

  • Migrate from WCS 7.0 to Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    Hi All,
I am looking for advice on the licensing and upgrade path for going from WCS 7.0 to PI 1.2.
At present I have a WCS licensed for 200 APs which is  managing one controller and 150 APs.
I intend to use the Cisco Prime Upgrade Promotion
to order R-W-PI12-M-K9 (WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Migration)
and L-W-PI12-100-M and L-W-PI12-100-M to match the number of licenses on the WCS.
Once Prime is installed I also want to manage another 50 devices, does that mean I have to purchase the
Cisco PI 1.2 Base License and Software (R-PI12-Base-K9) and another 50 Lifecycle licenses, or will
my existing 200 licenses from the upgrade suffice.
Sorry if it's confusing, but I didn't invent the licensing structure just trying to make sense of it all.
    TIA

You'll be able to manage up to 200 devices/APs simpy using the upgrade from WCS to PI 1.2 as you described it. No need to order another base license or 50 lifecycle licenses.

  • Migrating from NCS 1.0 to Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    Hi friends
I know i had short discussion about this before but here it comes again and this time in detail.
I have NCS 1.0 with 100 devices support license installed. Now knowing it has reached end of sale, and also for the fact that Prime does cover devices like routers, i went ahead to the upgrade path via PUT (Product Upgrade Tool).
Finally I received an email (OBA) advising my order is ready. This email included two items in the shipment,
    L-N-PI12-100-M=
NCS 1.0 to Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Minor Upg 100 Device
    L-PILMS42-100-M
Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 100 Device Upgrade Lic
When i click to the link in the same email to download the license, it only shows me one file which is
    L-PILMS42-100-M
I tried using this file and installing on the NCS1.0 but it gives me error that this file is not a license file. The license name suggests me that it is not the license to be installed on the NCS. The file should be L-N-PI12-100-M=
Thanks for reading this all and would appreciate all your inputs here.
    Regards,
    Mohit

Marvin Rhoads wrote:Your PI 1.2 also includes the right to install and use LMS 4.2 - a separately installed and licensed server. If you want Assurance (or Compliance) licenses for PI, they will have to be ordered separately. The license files delivedred when you buy those product SKUs will allow you to use those features. The starting point (base) in PI 1.2 is Lifecycle.
when i followed the inpath upgrade,  i receved an email from the licensing that the license file is ready for download. the order said,
      Product Name          : L-PILMS42-100-M
         Product Description      : L-PILMS42-100-M : Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 100 Device Upgrade Lic
and the attached lic file "LMS2013021XXXXXXX.lic" came along from them.
but when i installed that lic file, i got the error message from the upgarded the PI 1.2 that the file is not a license file.
The trouble is i cannot generate another lic file (if the exsting generated file was corrupt) cos the PAK is already been used once.
Now i am wondering i can avail that LMS file that would be good, but when i spoke to the TAC, i was told that this file name doesnt seem correct as this is PI and it wont understand LMS file. It was only useful if you were upgraing from LMS to PI and because my case was NCS to PI, this will not work.
    Any suggestions?

  • Upgrading from LMS 4.1 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure

Looking for some information and confirmation on the upgrade process.
Currently we are running LMS 4.1 with a valid SAS Service Contract which will allow me to upgrade to Prime Infrastructure 1.1 or Prime Infrastructure 1.2 using the upgrade tool at no charge. After using the tool I am given access to download PI1.1 or PI1.2, however, it only actually let me download PI1.1 but said i do not have the proper permissions to download the 1.2 license. I also noticed that the software images for 1.2 are not available ont he ciso download page.
I am wondering what the latest version of Prime Infrastructure I will be able to upgrade to without an additional purchase. Can I upgrade up to all the way up to 1.4 or can I only go up to 1.2 (but then where is the download for the software).
If i can upgrade to 1.4 then what path should I take? 1.1 to 1.3 to 1.4? Just skip 1.2 since the download is not available and it will not let me download the license file?
    Thank you for your help

LMS 4.x to Prime 1.x would not be considered a functional or recommended "upgrade" for most intents as you would lose several major capabilities (Topology, Ciscoview, many reports, compliance templates, etc.). Your best path right now would be to move your LMS along to the current version - 4.2.4. The release notes explain the upgrade path for that.
Licensing and upgrade eligibility-wise you need SASU for PI (not plain SAS for LMS) for major upgrades (i.e to go to 2.0). An LMS SAS contract entitles you to migrate to PI 1.2 which in effect means 1.3 although Cisco had some issues with updating the ordering system so there was not actually a SKU for PI 1.3 sold - only the 1.2 version which, when combined with your LMS SAS service contract, entitles you to move to PI 1.3 (or 1.4 but that's not generally recommended). More details are in the Prime Ordering and Licensing Guides here.
Personally, I recommend customers with existing LMS 4.x installations wait until PI 2.1 comes out to consider the upgrade. 2.0 still misses several tools present in LMS 4.x.
If you really want to move over to PI, you can export the data from LMS 4.2.4 and import into PI 1.3 (or 2.0).

  • Migrating data from Cisco NCS 1.1.1.24 to Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Question

I am spinning up a new VM server for Prime to migrate from NCS. I have not been able to find the patch Cisco recommends to run before upgrading. My question is do I need to run this patch (ncs_patch-1.1.1.24-upgrade-12.tar.gz) if I am just gong to bring up a whole new machine and not upgrade the existing NCS? My plan is to do a back-up on the NCS and a restore from the new Prime.

Migrating from NCS 1.1.1.24 to Prime Infrastructure 1.3
To migrate to a new Prime Infrastructure 1.3 system, follow the process as described in the following two links below:
    ● Back Up the Data from the Existing System
    ● Install a New Prime Infrastructure System and Migrate the Data from the Backup
    ● Restoring Prime Infrastructure Database in a High Availability Environment
